Hi there, I start my medication for a fresh IVF round in September. Im not the best at navigating mumsnet and wondering if there are any groups set up for people starting around the same time? X

@StormsPassIVF oh that’s great news! That will fly by! The whole thing seems to have flown to be honest.

fsr111 · 18/10/2023 17:53

Hi guys, I've been on a bit of a hiatus since our BFN but I've been keeping an eye on the thread and so pleased to see a couple more BFPs.

Good luck with the follicle growth @TheFanciestPants. Fingers crossed it carries on in the right direction! How many days in are you?

Had our follow up appointment today and have booked in for the FET cycle to start with my period which is due around the 1st November. Medication on order - here we go again...! Won't be too far behind you by the looks of it @StormsPassIVF.

JadeAC · 18/10/2023 18:05

@fsr111 oh brill! That’s good that you can go again straight away.

TheFanciestPants · 18/10/2023 18:12

Thanks all. After everything that went wrong I had started to write myself off...
@fsr111 how exciting to be making progress, amazing you had something to freeze so not another EC needed! All the days of stimming (3 injections a day, bleh!) - day 10 today, but I am on the long protocol with a not amazing AMH (leads to slightly sleepy ovaries but better than 2 dominant follicles on the short protocol!) so 14+days of stimming expected really. EC will be next week - day tbc but likely Tuesday/Wednesday. We were worried on Monday as we saw a different doctor who was pretty unhelpful and kept going on about how it was VERY slow progress but we saw our original one again today who was very positive and said it was in line with his plan and all follicles had seen some growth since Monday 😀
Good luck with the FET @StormsPassIVF , it'll be here in no time.
@JadeAC so glad everything is going well for you.

West8690 · 18/10/2023 19:36

@JadeAC @LavenderJoy @StormsPassIVF @TheFanciestPants thank you all so much for your kind words.

Sorry for the silence. Had bloods repeated today and HCG has almost tripled so feeling a bit better. First scan is in 2 weeks so just taking it one step at a time. I feel guilty that I'm not jumping with joy but I think after 2 miscarriages it just feels like we can't be excited about anything yet.

@TheFanciestPants that sounds positive - everything crossed for you!

@StormsPassIVF have you found out if they can fit you in yet? You just need one 🤞🏻

@Arundel8 hope you're doing ok, sending so much love xxx

StormsPassIVF · 18/10/2023 19:48

@West8690 thats absolutely brilliant news the numbers have tripled! Look forward to hearing hopefully positive news after your scan in a few weeks.

Yes I had great news! The clinic have squeezed me in. I have meds ready to go and have the nurse consultation to give me my instructions tomorrow.

This will be my 2nd transfer (1st FET) and they are putting 2 embryos back. I’m excited to be PUPO again soon

@fsr111 ahh that’s so cool we are on a similar timeline! I’ll let you know when I start my meds 🥰

Natasha90 · 19/10/2023 06:47

@StormsPassIVF @fsr111 I bet you can't wait to get going again.

I am day 4 of meds x 3 progynova, I have a scan Friday to see how things are progressing and keep an eye on the cyst.

I should be given my thaw and transfer date also.

What foods did everyone eat leading up the transfer, I've seen bits on Brazil nuts, pomegranate juice and high protein?

fsr111 · 19/10/2023 06:53

@Natasha90 good luck for the scan! Hopefully your transfer date will be next week. The nurse I spoke with yesterday mentioned all of those things - high protein diet, Brazil nuts, pomegranate juice and lots of water. Do you know what the deal is with alcohol and caffeine is? Obviously with our fresh cycle I avoided it the whole month, but with this cycle, when do I need to stop? Transfer day or before? I'm not drinking a lot, but we have a wedding in a couple of week so I'm planning ahead!

Also, has anyone ever had acupuncture / reflexology? The nurse mentioned it yesterday. I'm usually fairly sceptical about these things but now wondering if it's worth it?

Natasha90 · 19/10/2023 06:59

@fsr111 coffee is my biggest thing... 😞 I used to drink about 5-8 cups a day. I know that's really bad. I've managed to get it down to 3 so far.... I want to get this down to 2 cups over the weekend.

I have replaced the coffee with green tea.

With alcohol I think it's safe to have a few before the transfer,

I also have prescribed folic acid and take vitamin D. Xx

TheFanciestPants · 19/10/2023 08:14

@Natasha90 @fsr111 I did a lot of research and high protein is really important so have been drinking 1 litre of milk each day (suggested from stims to early pregnancy). Pomegranate juice is full of antioxidants good for lining alongside berries. Some people take L'arginine for lining too. I think Brazil nuts are for selenium but I am taking that in a supplement. I think you are supposed to eat the rainbow so I try to have a lot of different types of fruit and veg too.
I had given up alcohol TTC and I gave up caffeine for IVF as the clinic said it's advisable. Not sure on evidence as it's mixed on both but as I didn't drink much of either it wasn't a sacrifice but I see your dilemmas!
I have been having acupuncture every week throughout IVF and apparently the most important time is around embryo transfer (lots of acupuncturists will do special appointments for this as can be early morning etc). There is evidence acupuncture helps but it's hard to do large randomised trials. My acupuncturist is lovely and the needles don't hurt so I would recommend giving it a go to help relaxation if nothing else.
I also heard laughter is supposed to help with implantation so if we get to embryo transfer will mainly be rewatching Derry Girls!
Definitely ignore me if you find the above stressful as everyone is different but those are the small lifestyle tweaks that I have done x

Arundel8 · 19/10/2023 10:08

I echo everything that @TheFanciestPants says! I also had reflexology - it was amazing but couldn’t afford it this round. I think it’s really helpful in helping you relax.

Also read that beetroot is helpful for implantation. Also avoid processed foods if you can.

Having had a few days of feeling low - I am somehow feeling much more positive about the future. Scheduled sessions with my doctor and nutritionist and hopefully going to put forward a plan.

One point I am debating is whether I stick with mild IVF where I will only get one egg but hopefully higher quality or I go for the full protocol and hopefully get at least two or three eggs. There seems to be some research that says higher meds results in lower quality but then my last round didn’t exactly produce stellar results! Any thoughts very welcome. Thank you

TheFanciestPants · 19/10/2023 18:37

@Arundel8 I love reflexology! I would go this time but I am struggling to fit things in with the scans (always end up waiting at least 30 minutes to be seen)and everything else.
I think you are with ARGC? My friend had struggled for years with a lot of IVF issues before she went there and had twins. So I really do believe they are the best clinic and whatever the doctor suggests at your review I am sure will give you the best chances. I heard at ARGC they adjust meds a lot, I don't know what I would need to do in my cycle to have an adjustment as I have had 4 or 5 scans and they always say some platitude and then carry on 🤣
I am having the long protocol with lowish AMH which isn't normally recommended, but it seems to be working better than the short one for me, so I think it's always worth giving new things a try. If this (my one precious NHS funded) cycle doesn't work out I am planning to go to ARGC 🥰

Arundel8 · 20/10/2023 10:38

@TheFanciestPants yes at ARGC - would highly recommend them. You really feel as though they look at everything and give you honest advice. Fingers crossed that this round works for you! 🤞🤞

Natasha90 · 20/10/2023 20:28

Had another scan today and the cyst is gone. So In 7 days it's disappeared.

They have upped my progynova to x 4 a day and to be honest I fill totally wiped out. Exhausted in fact. Another scan on Wednesday and then should book in transfer.

It maybe the lack of coffee also.

Hope everyone is ok.....

JadeAC · 21/10/2023 08:52

@Natasha90 oh that’s good news. 🤞

Alisha1990 · 21/10/2023 16:24

Hi everyone. I have been trying to do a bit of research online but not getting anywhere. It has been 2 weeks today since I took my trigger shot, I had a day 3 transfer on 12th October. I'm am currently on my two week wait but took a test today because I couldn't wait any longer. Which is 9 day after transfer. The test is positive but would the HCG from trigger still be in my system 14 days later?

JadeAC · 21/10/2023 17:21

@Alisha1990 congratulations! I don’t think it will be trigger after 14days. I got my bfp 10days past my 3 day transfer so that’s only one day after you’ve done it.

LavenderJoy · 21/10/2023 17:41

Congratulations on your bfp @Alisha1990
I think it can vary from 10-14 days depending on the strength of the trigger, they usually advise to wait 14 days, but they may just say that as a precaution, I'm sure on my first fresh I tested it out by about day 8.

Alisha1990 · 21/10/2023 19:48

@JadeAC@LavenderJoy thank you both! I'm so nervous but excited! Wishing you both luck on your journeys x

ka3rine · 21/10/2023 21:20

Congratulations @Alisha1990 we have the same date of Day 3 transfer, I also did an early test this morning using a strip test as I am reserving the Clear Blue ones for Monday test as what the nurse advises me. She did say that if I dont get a positive on Monday that I repeat it until Wednesday. I started to feel slightly different on my boobs now, since yesterday they feel heavier than normal. I do not have any spotting or bleeding. Some cramping i guess, i feel a bit gassy and constipated.

Good luck as well @JadeAC and @LavenderJoy

JadeAC · 22/10/2023 09:18

@ka3rine Hope you get the positive tomorrow 🤞

JadeAC · 23/10/2023 16:47

How did you get on today @ka3rine

How are you feeling @Arundel8

Natasha90 · 24/10/2023 09:25

@JadeAC how are you doing? Xx

ka3rine · 24/10/2023 09:44

@JadeAC my first test was negative 😞 was really disheartened. I booked a blood test with the clinic tomorrow and we will see if its a cancelled or not.

the proactive me already booked an appointment with my doctor to plan the next ivf round.

its been a roller coaster this cycle. We thought it will be cancelled again and the last scan the nurse confirmed the follicles are moving so they keep on extending my menopur until they grew to the right size.

no matter how much research you put into it there’s not much i can do really when the egg will implant or not.

how are you doing too?

JadeAC · 24/10/2023 09:53

aw was m sorry to hear that. It’s good you are already working on what comes next though. Just got to keep moving forward.

I have my scan on Friday. Im abit anxious but if that goes well I think I’ll then be able to start enjoying things and look forward to it all.
