I just looked it up £525 for same day results in Harley street 😅

IVFfirsttimer91 · 23/09/2023 14:48

@ASGIRC i think that is sensible!

I don’t know much about the donor egg side of things but I do feel that the younger the egg the less likely you are to have complications. So hopefully you won’t have any problems, if it helps I’m 32 (eggs were harvested and frozen at 31) and my results came back absolutely fine. With an egg nearly a decade younger I would expect good results.

I think having the gender scan would be fun anyway (great excuse to see the baby) as it’s such a long wait between 12 and 20 weeks! I couldn’t have waited that long 😂😂

ASGIRC · 23/09/2023 15:21

@IVFfirsttimer91 Thats it!! Im pretty confident on my chances of everything being ok.
But we shall see on tuesday!

I know what you mean, and I might still book one, just not at THAT place! Also, their website doesnt tell you the prices, it is all "contact us for more info!!!" which also puts me off! 😂

IVFfirsttimer91 · 23/09/2023 15:23

@ASGIRC i totally agree, I hate it when places aren’t transparent with their prices. My IVF clinic did that to us the first time and it made me furious. The only reason we would go again with them for a second baby would be because the nursing staff were so good.

fingers crossed for Tuesday!!!

Charming81 · 23/09/2023 15:43

@IVFfirsttimer91 the test you did with the nhs is the combined test. I have done that as well today and they gave me the result straight away so that they could compare them with the scan. The Harmony test is even more accurate and I paid 500£ and that will tell me the sex.

I honestly was worried because my egg donor was 34 and I felt very disappointed, but I am really happy everything looks good so far 🤞🏻🐞🍀

IVFfirsttimer91 · 23/09/2023 15:49

@Charming81 im glad everything is going well so far!

I wonder what the cut off age for eggs is actually. I was going to do egg share initially, but couldn’t due to a low predicted EC number (they were so, so wrong about that in the end 😂) but I’m not sure how old is too old if you see what I mean

Walker12 · 23/09/2023 16:33

@Charming81 so glad your scan went well!! Lovely news

SH998 · 23/09/2023 17:07

@Charming81 so glad to hear the scan went well, lovely news.

ASGIRC · 23/09/2023 18:31

@IVFfirsttimer91 cut off for egg donation is 35, AFAIK. Because after that the risks increase,

Charming81 · 23/09/2023 18:56

Do you understand why I was disappointed that my donor was 34?! I mean, she was 5 years younger than me! But I am glad all is going well. Obviously nothing is 100% sure until the 20 week scan, but I want to start a little bit more positive now!

wtawtaw · 23/09/2023 19:56

Yay glad your scan went well @Charming81 💛💙 hopefully you can relax a bit more now?
You obviously don't have to answer this but did you try with your own eggs first or go straight into donor?

Charming81 · 23/09/2023 21:20

Yes, I tried twice with my own eggs (for a total of 5 transfers). I could have done a third stimulation because I was 39, old but not too much, but with my endometriosis it was dangerous and my gynecologist advised not to.

IVFfirsttimer91 · 23/09/2023 21:37

The 20 week scan just seems so far away doesn’t it. I just want it to be here now so that I know everything is ok and can then just get on with the rest of the pregnancy and just look forward to March! I’ve never been more impatient than I am now, I know my IVF journey has been comparatively short compared to some, but by the time the baby is born we’ll be going on 2 years since we began it! Just the longest wait ever.

Charming81 · 23/09/2023 21:53

When this baby will be born (I hope 😅) it will be 8 years for us. After 8 years this is the first joy... That is why I find it so hard to believe this time it is actually going well. I will have at least one more scan before the 20 week one. I can't wait for 8 weeks, I would go insane.

IVFfirsttimer91 · 23/09/2023 22:33

@Charming81 i really am so happy for you and I will keep everything crossed that all goes well!! I totally get the not waiting, I haven’t been able to wait 8 weeks either 😂

wtawtaw · 24/09/2023 08:49

@Charming81 that's such a long time, you've certainly been through it 😢 I thought out 3 and a half years was bad enough.

I'm not waiting until 20 weeks either, I have a consultant appt on my 16 week mark but not sure if ill see baby then, but we have a private scan at 18 and a half weeks for gender only because I wanted a two week gap after the 16 week appointment, I wonder if I can push a gender out of the consultant though 😂🤔

Charming81 · 24/09/2023 09:12

Good morning! I woke up with some period pain. Not strong, but I can feel them 🙄 Obviously because after the scan yesterday, I've decided to be more positive 😑😑😑

SH998 · 24/09/2023 11:02

@Charming81 ive had some cramping feelings this weekend too, not painful just there. Same as you, probably little beans making themselves more comfy so don’t worry 😉

IVFfirsttimer91 · 24/09/2023 13:07

@Charming81 i’ve been getting cramping on and off the whole time, try not to worry too much. I spoke to my midwife about it and she said that it’s the muscles stretching to accommodate the baby and uterus xx

Charming81 · 24/09/2023 13:11

Thank you @IVFfirsttimer91 and @SH998 I'll try sto stay positive. Tomorrow I even have the nhs 12 week scan as the one I had on Saturday was private, so I will get to see the baby again🤞🏻🐞🍀

ASGIRC · 24/09/2023 15:33

Another week, another trip to the EPU for me... seriously, 3 x in 3 weeks, its ridiculous.

This time it was blood, though, so I was really concerned.

Everything is "fine". My cervix is friable, and had little tears, they even thought maybe a polyp, but it turned out not to be.
They looked for a detachment, or bleeding in utero, but that was clear.

Plus side, saw the baby again! Today the bean was jumping around everywhere! it was the first time I saw it move!

Haven been banned from having sex, but since I wasnt having any anyway, it doesnt seem like too much of a hardship.

@Charming81 The baby is fine, Im sure! And youll see it again tomorrow!

Walker12 · 24/09/2023 16:42

Oh that sounds scary @ASGIRC but so glad everything is ok! And that you have a lovely active bean :) has the bleeding stopped now?

I've been a bit worried today too as having some lower back pain although I'm pretty sure it's related to bending down a lot packing for my holiday, it's just unsettled me a bit- I think my anxiety peaks right before a scan. Tomorrow morning can't come soon enough!

ASGIRC · 24/09/2023 16:57

@Walker12 I think so. At least I haven't noticed anymore, but I haven't really been to the toilet.

They used a bit of gauze to clean it, inside. It was a whole palaver! 😂

I'm sorry you're feeling anxious. I'm sure it is nothing. But you have your scan tomorrow and everything will be fine!!!

Walker12 · 24/09/2023 17:13

Oh gosh I bet you thought you had eacaped from internal stuff for a while 😂 fingers crossed that's all but at least you know what it is now if it happens again. I can only imagine how stressful seeing the blood was!

My back pain is definitely easing when I rest so I'm using it as an excuse to have a very lazy afternoon

Charming81 · 24/09/2023 20:00

@ASGIRC oh no, that must have been so scary 😔 Try not to overdo it. Take ot easy and rest as much as possible. It is amazing to see them jumping around ❤️

@Walker12 I have been having back pain since day one and it gets worse every time a do something like cleaning. Don't worry, it's absolutely normal.
