@wtawtaw My scan is Monday! Going away on holiday a few days after and hoping it will help us relax and get properly excited.
I will need your list at some point as haven't even started to think about what we will need!

ASGIRC · 20/09/2023 20:07

@Walker12 hahah yes, I guess after all that ordeal, this will feel quite mild!

@wtawtaw mine is on tuesday!

I think @SH998 also has hers on Monday or Tuesday. And @Charming81 has hers on Sunday?

These are from memory, so I might be a bit off!

I have just ordered a pizza... Not sure how thats gonna go down, though.. I keep going from "I really want pizza" to "thinking of pizza makes me sick", so we shall see how it goes!
I have gone off my greek salad thing... So now I need to find out something else I can make and eat...

SH998 · 20/09/2023 20:48

@ASGIRC good memory girl 😃. Yes mine is Monday too.

How awful to hear such terrible news on your group, that does add to the anxiety but we are all doing so well, all baby’s heartbeats/movements/sizes are good so there’s nothing for any of us to worry about.

I hit 11 weeks and felt ill, who said that it eases after 10 weeks 😂. Feeling better the last few days, still not feeling pregnant.

Hope all you sickies feel better soon, surely the end is on site.

@Walker12 ill deffo need a copy of that list too 🤦🏼‍♀️

IVFfirsttimer91 · 20/09/2023 20:55

@wtawtaw I’m finally feeling a bit more human today, I’ve spent the last few days in bed, so think I’ve got rid of the worst of it. The headache has finally gone too which was driving me absolutely mad!

hope everyone else is ok!

@ASGIRC im so sorry to hear that a couple of ladies in your group have had bad news. It definitely puts the fright in you. When is your 12 week scan?

IVFfirsttimer91 · 20/09/2023 20:56

Symptom wise, im all good! Just sore boobs now, and occasional cramps. But minimal to no nausea for me any more which is amazing

Charming81 · 20/09/2023 20:59

@ASGIRC that is my terror. As my 12 week scan approaches, I am terrified they won't find a heartbeat 😣 I just can't stop thinking about it!

What whatsapp group is that? Is it from Portugal or from Mumsnet?

My symptoms come and go but I don't complain, it's ok of my little duck is fine.

@wtawtaw please share your list! I have no idea yet

wtawtaw · 20/09/2023 21:12

Ahh big week next week then for a few of you ladies!! 🤞🏻@Charming81 when is your 12 wk scan?

The list is on my work computer so I'll share tomorrow, I was trying to work out how much everything will cost and watching it all add up as the list grew 🫣. Can't wait to start buying stuff though, but it's over whelming as to where to start!

Glad you are feeling better @IVFfirsttimer91 and that your nausea has gone 🙌🏻 I can't wait for that to go and to get my appetite back, 13 weeks now and wondering when it's gonna happen!

ASGIRC · 20/09/2023 21:24

@SH998 honestly, my 11 weeks have been worse than the previous ones! I am now on day 4 of constant, actual nausea, and not just food aversions!!!
I should be done with this nonsense!!!

@IVFfirsttimer91 Im glad you are feeling better and have no nausea!
My scan is on the 26th

@Charming81 its a portuguese group.
Youve had plenty of good scans now, and it is unlikely that anything might happen in that case!
Positive thinking!!!

Is your scan on Sunday?

I havent even thought about lists! I know Im gonna need a lot of things, but its too early to worry about that! 😅

SH998 · 20/09/2023 21:38

@ASGIRC i was the same, sailed by up until week 11 then felt nauseous most days, I was only sick twice but that feeling was awful especially trying to hide it in work.
Im think I’m past that now, hopefully your not far off it either. Think of the weight your losing by not eating 😂

@Charming81 i don’t think that stressed feeling will leave us until we have the baby safe in our arms, your scans have been good news so all will be fine lovely.

ASGIRC · 20/09/2023 21:43

@SH998 Hahah I weigh myself everyday now! I was about 68.5kg when I got pregnant. Today I was 64.8kg. Nearly 4kg!
Which is great, in a way! I was terrified of putting on too much weight in pregnancy and then not being able to lose it!
Obviously, theres still 2nd and 3rd trimesters to go, but if I can keep the weight gain controlled, then I might only go up to my heaviest ever (76kg during covid!!)

I ordered a pizza today, and it was delicious. It even made me forget my nausea (which Im sure will return in no time!)

Charming81 · 20/09/2023 22:28

I thought I had replied to this message. My 12 week scan is on Sunday.

I agree with the fact that I will never be able to relax, not even after the 12 weeks. I am embracing this anxiety mood now 😂

If everything will go well, I think I will start buying things only in January. I might start thinking about what we should buy, but I want to wait as long as possible

ASGIRC · 21/09/2023 00:34

I will also only start buying things in the new year.
I dont have the space to store things, currently. And wont until my lodger moves out, which will probably happen in March (I will push for it, as I am hoping this baby comes in March and not April).
Currently what will be the nursery is a home office, she uses every day, which also stores all sorts of things.

I will have to completely clear that room out, and move most things around in the house (stuff that is in my lodgers room will be in the nursery, stuff currently in the nursery will go to that room), so I cant be buying loads of stuff before hand, as I HATE things not having a place to live!

Charming81 · 21/09/2023 06:33

Oh this is a bit risky though. You could give birth and she might still be with you and not let you have things ready. Can't she move out in Jan/Feb?

ASGIRC · 21/09/2023 13:31

@Charming81 My due date is in April!!! If the baby comes in February, I will have bigger issues than my lodger still living at my house, like the fact that I have a very premmie baby!
All going well I will have this baby from mid March onwards, which is when I complete 37 weeks!

And since the baby will be in my room for the first few months, not having a done nursery is not a problem!

Charming81 · 21/09/2023 16:09

I know, we have the same due date, but babies can come early. I always consider that, I want to be ready at least one month before (end of Feb) just in case 🤞🏻🐞🍀

ASGIRC · 21/09/2023 18:30

I dont need to have the nursery ready (and have already decided that is not a thing that will happen before the baby is here, apart from a changing station and clothes storage)
In february I will, of course, be buying things, but I dont expect her to be gone until the end of the month.
But who knows? She might find something amazing and move before!
But Im very comfortable with this timeline. Just no later than end of Feb, though!

I know they can come early, but chances are, if they come too early, they wont be coming home in a hurry... So Im hoping for a March delivery, and not before! 37/38 weeks would be ideal 😂

Charming81 · 21/09/2023 19:06

Not only for the baby, but for you as well. It would be better to sort things out before the baby, because after you will have better things to do than sort the house out 😁

My nausea today is bad 🙄 12 weeks tomorrow. It seems soooooo strange! I am so nervous for Saturday🤦🏻‍♀️

SH998 · 21/09/2023 19:47

@Charming81 i had hardly any nausea but between 11/12 weeks it was quite bad. It’s eased now and haven’t felt I’ll since Tuesday. Hopefully you will start to feel better in the next few days.

IVFfirsttimer91 · 21/09/2023 19:50

We’re planning on clearing our spare room out and decorating it in the next few weeks (as I plan on helping and don’t want to be moving furniture later on down the road) but we aren’t going to get the big furniture in/buy it until January (in the sales 🤞) or towards the end of jan.

Don’t want to get over excited and buy too early, honestly. If I think I could be bothered to get the nursery ready after baby was here then I think I would go for that option, but I know myself and I know that it just wouldn’t happen if I waited until then 😂😂.

Ive been writing my maternity plan today, and it all became very very real! How long to take off for maternity leave?! Simple enough question, but what is the right answer?!?!

ASGIRC · 22/09/2023 10:18

@Charming81 yes, but there's also the very practical reason of MONEY. She pays rent. That is income I will lose forever once she moves out. At a time when life will become more expensive.
Every month counts, and having March to do things in will be absolutely fine.

I will start moving things out of the room before then, though.

This week has been terrible for nausea! Every. Single. Day!!!!! Horrendous!
12 weeks today!! And done with the damn pessaries!!!!!!

@IVFfirsttimer91 I haven't decided either, but my choice is binary! It's either 4 months at full pay or 5 at 80% pay.
My decision will be made a bit later on, once I know if I can afford the 20% pay cut or not (mortgage is going up in a couple of months!)

Fun question: any bumps yet?!?
It's a no for me. Only have the usual fat rolls, no baby peeking through it just yet!

SH998 · 22/09/2023 10:53

@IVFfirsttimer91 ill be following you in the next few weeks and sorting/decorating the spare room, I've been pushed to do this sooner as we are in the middle of a loft conversation and when the stairs go in next week an area of the spare room will need to be re-plastered as some of the area is being taken up by the stairs. this will prompt me to paint/re-carpet floor etc. I'm not sure when ill start buying the larger furniture, I like to be organised and in control so the thought of waiting until just 2 months before the baby is due is already giving me anxiety lol. I've already picked the colour of the paint ha ha :)

@ASGIRC I haven't even though of maternity leave and pay yet. I'm sure we only get 6 weeks at 90%, 6 weeks at 80% then statutory pay which is next to nothing. The thought of maternity leave with the cost of living increasing is frightening but I have a few more months to decide on that. My partner seems to think I have a slight bump, I say its just the fat firmed up a little more lol.

@Charming81 good luck for tomorrows scan, happy 12 weeks :). I'm 13 weeks tomorrow.

ASGIRC · 22/09/2023 11:02

@SH998 I'm lucky that there is no hard decorating to do in ny nursery.
I only moved in 2 years ago (not even) after a full refurb, so everything is spit spot. Just stuff needs moving and furniture bought!

Yeah UKs statutory pay is pants! How is anyone supposed to live with just over 100 quid a week?!?!

If it wasnt to CoL, I'd take the 5 months no question. But my mortgage will have increased by over 100% in 12 months and that puts a strain on the budget!

And 13 weeks tomorrow!! You're almost done with the 1st trimester!!!

IVFfirsttimer91 · 22/09/2023 11:18

@ASGIRC i definitely have a bump. There is no hiding it now! I initially thought it was just weight gain but it’s solid and keeps getting bigger! I’m 14 weeks now so still a bit early to have a bump but I’m quite slim so maybe that’s why it’s showing quite so early? Who knows!

@SH998 it’s so exciting isn’t it! We have the paint already and I’m going to get the safari wall decal off of Etsy next week: but that’s as far as it goes!

ASGIRC · 22/09/2023 11:26

@IVFfirsttimer91 yes, I think if you're quite slim it ends up showing earlier!

Mine is buried under layers of fat! I keep taking pics, once a week, but there's no change 😂
I still haven't put on any weight, if anything, I'm still losing it!

You're decorating on a theme?
I haven't even thought about it...
My walls are all light grey, with white doors, and all my furniture is white, so I think I will keep that in the nursery, probably with yellow accents in the soft furnishings, but that's about it, really 😂😂

IVFfirsttimer91 · 22/09/2023 11:30

@ASGIRC im really lucky in that one of my companies is giving me 100%pay for 6 months, and the other is normal SMP. HOWEVER, the dilemma comes in when the company that is paying me SMP is much more flexible when it comes to when I work my hours, and I’ve been told I can work the mornings, get baby from nursery and then work whilst they nap and then finish up in the evening when my partner is home, so I’m far more tempted to go back to work there after 6 months, and take 10 months off from my other job until we have moved and baby qualifies for free hours at nursery. It’s such a dilemma!
