Appointment went fine!
Got weighed, BP taken, got my book, along with the prescriptions for some bloods and the 1st trimester ultrasound (they don't do it without it!!)

The doctor was really nice. Next appt booked for when I'm 19 weeks, which is a bit late, but when she had availibility, and on time for her to give me the prescription for the 2nd trimester ultrasound!

SH998 · 12/09/2023 19:01

@ASGIRC So glad all went well and you’ve been booked in for 19 weeks, mine booked me in for my 16 week check up the same day too. I was shocked by how prepared they were lol 😂

Does anyone who’s consultant led know when that will begin? I assume after the 12 week scan but no idea. Will you see the consultant on that day too or will they rebook a few weeks later?

ASGIRC · 12/09/2023 20:34

@SH998 mine was supposed to be at 16 weeks, but she didn't have any openings until 19 weeks, so we settled on that, since it's also before my 20 week scan.

Charming81 · 12/09/2023 21:47

Good evening ladies. I try to keep myself as much busy as possible to let time pass quicker 😅

I will have my first midwife appointment next Wednesday and my 12 week scan on the 23rd. I honestly can't wait to get to the end of this first trimester and, hopefully, relax a little bit. I am still in shock that all this is happening to me, but I actually start believing it might really happen! And I really, really hope the NIPT test won't give me any bad news.

Sangels267 · 13/09/2023 21:30

@SH998 my first consultant appointment is when I'm 17w5d.

I have my midwife 16 week appointment booked too, it will be on the 31st October.

They have moved my 12 week scan, I will be exactly 13 weeks. It will be on the 5th October 😍

SH998 · 14/09/2023 05:58

@Charming81 i hope your feeling a little calmer, my scan is on 25th and it can’t come quick enough, then I’ll actually believe it’s happening and calm down (I hope lol).

@Sangels267 thank you, that’s good to know, I’ve been given my scan date and my 16 week appointment with the midwife but nothing about the consultant. Maybe this will be mentioned on my scan day, if not I’ll ask about it. I’m wishing my life away waiting for these dates to hurry up and come lol 😂

I can’t believe I’ll be 12 weeks on Saturday, it still doesn’t seem real, probably as I feel completely fine.

SH998 · 14/09/2023 10:34

This week I'm feeling more nauseous than I ever have before, is this normal? I though this was meant to ease off as placenta takes over? I'm 11+5 today.

ASGIRC · 14/09/2023 14:04

@SH998 its definitely not an exact science! From what I understand, they can come and go for the whole 9 months! So who knows???

I am 11 weeks tomorrow! So close to 12!
And only a week of pessaries to go! I am literally counting down the days!

I ended up cancelling the OB appointment I had booked for tomorrow.
I only booked it as an extra scan, but Im not sure if they will do it... And it is my only day off this week, and it was a morning appointment as well.

So I decided to cancel it, and just wait for my 12 week scan, in less than 2 weeks.

I also found out, at my midwive appt, that the PAPP-A test is not free!! Our NHS does not pay for it! Which makes no sense to me, since it is such an important check of a normal pregnancy! I will do it and hope my insurance pays for some of it!

Charming81 · 15/09/2023 07:37

@SH998 I have been absolutely fine with nausea for a week, and yesterday afternoon it has been awful 😣 I really think it come and goes depending on hormones fluctuations.

I am 11 weeks today. I am in awe as I never ever got so far and I am hoping so so much that this pregnancy will go well. I can't think about anything else 😂 I can't wait to go for my 12 week scan praying everything will look good. 9 more days to go

SH998 · 15/09/2023 08:23

@Charming81 I know the feeling, absolutely shocked to get this far, it still doesn't feel real and I'm afraid to start enjoying it as I'm always waiting for the worst to happen. Nausea is fine today, lets hope it continues that way lol. I buckled and booked a scan tonight, mainly as my 12 week scan is still a week and half away and I really want to tell my dad but want to be sure all is OK first. I'm 11+6 so will tell him after tonight's scan.
Hope your nausea improves soon :)

@ASGIRC that's gutting to hear, how much does the testing cost with you? We don't realise how lucky we are with the NHS sometimes. Hope your feeling well :)

ASGIRC · 15/09/2023 13:12

@SH998 I was completely taken by surprise!
You can get it for free, if you are followed by the hospital. However, in Lisbon, you are NEVER hospital based unless you are considered high risk, and even then, it depends on what the risk is (usually things like previous pre eclampsia, or recurrent miscarriages). IVF is NOT a risk factor in that sense! Nor is being 40!

Not sure on the price yet, but have emailed my local lab. Ive heard it is up to 100 euros!!! Which sounds absurd for such an important exam!

My most debilitating symptom these days is drops in blood pressure. Happens randomly, but often, so I kinda feel like I cant do anything, for fear of having an episode...

Good luck on your scan tonight! Im sure everything will be absolutely fine!
I am holding strong and waiting for my 12 week scan, a day after yours! (but at the same time, not telling anyone new that Im pregnant, until that scan happens and comes back with good news!)

Charming81 · 15/09/2023 14:30

@ASGIRC I opted to do the NIPT test, although it is a lot more expensive, but I want more certain results as, obviously, I am terrified of genetic issues 🤦🏻‍♀️ I am hopeless, I will be like this till the end of the pregnancy, if I will ever get there 🤦🏻‍♀️

Today I woke up with vertigo. I can't move my head too much nor bend or the room will start spinning. I almost fell this morning

ASGIRC · 15/09/2023 14:36

@Charming81 that makes perfect sense. If I was using my eggs, I would definitely be doing that as well! But my egg is 22 years old, so not likely to have many anomalies. Still, I think the PAPP-A is important, because low risk doesnt mean no risk! If it comes back abnormal, then Ill likely spring for a Harmony test.

Oh no, vertigo sounds awful! Have you spoken to anyone about it? I dont think thats a very normal pregnancy symptom, as it is likely something in your inner ear.
Hope you feel better soon!!

And you WILL relax! Once you know everything is fine, and that you can enjoy the pregnancy, Im sure most of the anxiety will go away!

Charming81 · 15/09/2023 16:16

I did donor egg, but my donor was 34 years old! Very disappointing 🙄

Actually, vertigo are a typical symptom for me during pregnancy. Odd, I know. With my 2 chemical pregnancies, vertigo were the first symptom I had. I didn't have them this time at the beginning, in fact I was sure it didn't work 🤣
I'll tell the midwife next week anyway

ASGIRC · 15/09/2023 16:19

@Charming81 hahah that IS disappointing! I think my 22 yo was truly a holy grail!

Hope your vertigo eases soon! And doesnt extend until next week!

IVFfirsttimer91 · 15/09/2023 19:42

Good luck for your scan this eve @SH998!

Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet everyone, I’ve come down with some sort of bug and have felt rubbish the last few days!

Hope you’re all doing ok!

SH998 · 15/09/2023 20:52

All good girls, baby was jumping around, the nurse could hardly get measurements it was so active. I love seeing the baby on the screen, I’m wondering when it’s actually going to sink in that this is actually happening 🥰

@IVFfirsttimer91 get well soon lovely.

@ASGIRC your holding strong, you have more willpower than me, I can’t stop myself from booking a scan but I do realise it’s not so easy with you. Scan day will be here before you know it. I’ll be telling my dad about the pregnancy this weekend, with everyone else after the scan.

ASGIRC · 15/09/2023 21:15

@SH998 if it was easy, I probably would have booked another one! But only jsut over a week to go! It will fly by!

Im sure your dad will ve very excited!

@IVFfirsttimer91 feel better soon! Being ill is awful at the best of times, while pregnant when you cant take the good stuff it is even worse!!

Contacted the lab, who told be the best time to do the PAPP-A would be the day before my scan, as then I could take the results in with me!
So thats what Ill do.
Luckily there is a blood collection point not 5 minutes away from my house, which is VERY handy! And the test costs 55 euros, which is a lot less than I expected!

Walker12 · 16/09/2023 09:37

Glad to see everyone is doing OK! I've been a bit quiet focusing on work and trying to keep distracted until my 12wk scan. Although I don't think I've updated since my last private scan at the start of the week which was all good and our lovely little baby looked slightly less blob like!
Enjoy sharing the good news with your dad @SH998!

wtawtaw · 16/09/2023 09:59

Morning all, so happy that everyone is having positive news! And yay for a fab 12 weeks scan on Monday @IVFfirsttimer91. Have you told everyone now?

I had my 12 weeks scan on Tuesday and all looking well 🥰 nuchal measurement was good but just waiting for the blood results to come back. We're not going to tell anyone until the results are back, hoping they don't take too long!! Desperate to tell people now. Had a bit of a week with both our cats in and out the vets, I'll for different reasons, trying to shove medication in them has been interesting 🤨

Had a baaaad weekend last weekend with the nausea (think the heat didn't help) don't envy you on a hotter country @ASGIRC. Nausea still about now, wondering when it will ease off, I really want to start eating healthier but am struggling!!

I did have a letter yesterday to see a consultant at 16 weeks but not quite sure what it's for, I did try and call them but they didn't answer. I'm hoping and assuming it's for my previous LLETZ procedure and hoping they will scan my cervix length then due to my concerns a week or so ago. It's also the same day as my 16 week midwife appt, so one early in the morning appt and the other in the evening.

Good weekend vibes to all 😘

IVFfirsttimer91 · 16/09/2023 12:03

Thanks guys, it’s just a horrible cold/cough that’s been brewing for a few weeks and has finally peaked. I’ve literally just got out of bed to make my way down to cuddle on the sofa lol. Feeling rough as anything.

@wtawtaw yes we have told people now ❤️ we are very excited and it’s lovely to have people excited for us too. Have you told people yet?

I have to say, I’m finding being off the medication an absolute godsend. I had no idea how much the medication schedule ruled my life until I stopped everything!! When does everyone else come off the meds? I can’t remember who was told to take asprin, but my clinic has told me to stop taking it now, would be interested to know how long your clinic recommends you take it for?

Em

IVFfirsttimer91 · 16/09/2023 12:04

I just realised I signed off on my message 😂 absolutely must have been dreaming about work! Sorry!

ASGIRC · 16/09/2023 13:53

@IVFfirsttimer91 I am stopping my pessaries on Thursday evening, as I hit 12 weeks on Friday!!!!
Cannot WAIT!!! These pessaries are driving me NUTS!
Some residue got on some panties, despite wearing liners, and I had to wash those panties THREE times before the grease came out!!!! Absolutely disgusting!

Glad your 12 week scan went well @wtawtaw!
Its crazy how were all getting to that point now!!!

I just want to shout it from the rooftops now, but not telling anyone new until my 12 week scan and bloods.

wtawtaw · 16/09/2023 19:54

Ah no hope you feel better real soon @IVFfirsttimer91 💕

it was me that got told to take aspirin, the midwife at my scan made sure I take it too and said it's going to be rolled out to every pregnant woman in time as it apparently has a lot of benefits. Only a low dose - 150mg each night. I checked with my doctor too and they said the same thing.

I came off my pessaries 8 weeks ago, not sure how you ladies have managed to take them all this time, you'll certainly get your life back a bit more 😅

My blood results came in the post and was a low chance and normal Papp-a so we've started telling people now 😬😬

ASGIRC · 17/09/2023 01:22

Back in the EPU... Had a flood of discharge... Called 111 and they said I should be seen.

So as I left work, I came to the hospital.

Got given a green bracelet, which doesn't bode well, as it is full!

But at least they don't think it's too serious, so that's something!

When I called 111 (not really 111,but our equivalent) they were ready to send an ambulance for me!!! 😂

It was definitely not on my bingo card to come to the EPU twice in as many weeks!!

And I want my bed!
