Hi @Charming81! glad to hear your scan went well and that you’re feeling better with symptoms and things! I’m doing ok thanks, nervous and excited for tomorrow, but I’m just keeping busy and distracting myself. I finished my project today! I showed you all the hat, but now I’ve made boots! Hope everyone else is ok!

@IVFfirsttimer91 omg they are sooooo cute 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

IVFfirsttimer91 · 10/09/2023 15:59

@Charming81 thanks ☺️ I’m so so happy with how they have turned out!

Walker12 · 10/09/2023 16:08

@Charming81 lovely news!! And glad the symptoms have eased, mine are still fluctuating wildly!
@IVFfirsttimer91 those boots are so bloody adorable 😍

IVFfirsttimer91 · 10/09/2023 16:54

@Walker12 Thanks so much!!!

ASGIRC · 10/09/2023 16:58

@Charming81 Im glad your scan went well!! 3.7!!! Huge!!! Mine should be about the same!

My diahrrea seems to have passed today... Last night after I got home from my friends was NOT pleasant... Horrible tummy pains to go with it as well! GRIM!

Every time I say my nausea seems to have subsided, I get hit by horrendous nausea, so I will abstain from commenting on it 😂

@IVFfirsttimer91 those are so CUTE!!!!

I have my "midwife" appointment on tuesday! Cant wait to be given my pregnancy book! Not sure what else they do, apart from asking for bloods.

Next door currently has a plumbing emergency, so theres non stop drilling damaging my Sunday calm! LOL

IVFfirsttimer91 · 10/09/2023 17:50

@ASGIRC thanks so much ☺️ I’m not sure if it’s going to be different in Portugal but they asked me a whole load of medical questions about me, my family, and the donor - obviously some I knew some I didn’t 😂 and blood tests.

ASGIRC · 10/09/2023 17:59

@IVFfirsttimer91 yeah, probably same here! I have my clinic paper bit, with the age of the egg donor ready!
All the info I have on the donors is in that paper (egg donor 22yo, A+ blood, male donor O- blood! That is IT)
So I guess I wont be able to answer many questions! But we shall see!

You actually have 2 appointments here. One with a nurse, and another with a doctor. Im sure the nurse will probably be weighing me and stuff as well!

SH998 · 11/09/2023 05:39

@Charming81 i had my 10+2 scan last Monday and how it’s changed within just 2 weeks, we seen the arms and legs too, it’s just amazing isn’t it. Mine was 3.6 so on par with yours 🥰

@IVFfirsttimer91 oh how cute are them booties, you will have a wardrobe full by the time it arrives. Good luck for today, all will be fine. Is this your 12 week scan? I’m sure you a little ahead of me (but then I am getting people confused lol)

@ASGIRC i don’t find the small alco free Heineken cans too bad but some of the wines are terrible so I’m staying away from them.

Today I’m 11+2 and symptoms seem to have eased hugely, tiny boob ache when bending over in no bra sometimes and apart from feeling a bit iffy when I wake some mornings for 10 mins the nausea seems to have passed. I’m still napping but that could just be me being lazy lol 😂

Im itching for another scan, not coz I’m stressing over the baby but coz I want to see it’s little arms and legs jumping about again. The next 2 weeks are going to be one hell of a drag

IVFfirsttimer91 · 11/09/2023 13:08

Hiya!

@SH998 Thanks so much!! Yes it was my 12 week scan today (I’m 12+5) and happy to confirm that everything went perfectly. Baby was super wriggly, saw her little toes and had her hand in her mouth at one point. The neck fluid was normal and I’m hoping that the nuchal tests will come back normal as well xx

SH998 · 11/09/2023 13:26

@IVFfirsttimer91 oh how amazing, I'm so happy to hear all went OK and everything is as it should be. I bet now your going to scream it from the rooftops :)
No more worrying now, start enjoying it and the baby be here in no time, did the hospital keep your original due date or has that changed since your earlier scans? Its a GIRL! That's great news, how did you find out so soon? (sorry if you've previously said this in the thread). How long did they say the results will take, I've read 7-10 days.
Massive congrats :)

IVFfirsttimer91 · 11/09/2023 13:45

@SH998 thanks so much!!!

We don’t know 100% it’s a girl, but the last scan and the scan today, both sonographers have said they think we’re having a girl, and I’ve thought right from the jump that I’m carrying a girl. So we’re just using female pronouns until we are told otherwise in 3 ish weeks haha. Our due date is still on for the 20th March even though she’s measuring a few days ahead :).

With the Nuchal test, we should hear if there is something wrong within 10 days. If there’s nothing to worry about they won’t call us and we just wait for a letter :) we have just shouted it out on Instagram in a story. Well my partner did, I just re shared :). So very excited!!!!

SH998 · 11/09/2023 13:52

@IVFfirsttimer91 fantastic, its more personal when you can refer to them as a he/she rather than it isn't it. Funny how we have these feelings about the sex, we are convinced ours is a boy and we are actually calling it by the boy name we have already chosen lol. Your obviously doing a gender scan to clarify if only a few weeks to wait?
Another wait now for the results, its all about waiting for something or other lol. Life becomes easier when everyone knows, I bet family and friends are thrilled by you.
I've 2 weeks to wait until I get to do that, my mother reckons my father will have the shock of his life when I tell him lol :)

Charming81 · 11/09/2023 15:16

@IVFfirsttimer91 so happy it went all well! What an important milestone you have reached. You must be really thrilled. If the NT went well, I am pretty sure also the results will be good. 😊
And congratulations for the girl 💝

IVFfirsttimer91 · 11/09/2023 16:58

@Charming81 thank you so much! We are absolutely over the moon ❤️❤️❤️

@SH998 we are 100% doing a gender scan. I’m nearly 13 weeks so only 3 weeks to wait now! Everyone is very very happy and excited for us which is just so lovely. And I bet your dad is going to be absolutely thrilled when you tell him!!! It was weird going to the hospital today as it’s the hospital I’m going to give birth in. As opposed to my local hospital where I’m seeing my midwife. I found myself properly scrutinising every inch of what I saw. I can safely say I’m happy with my choice - but it was like.. woah, this is the place huh.

I honestly could have stayed in the ultrasound room all day and watched the baby. It’s fascinating and amazing seeing something so tiny yet perfectly formed moving about inside me and I can’t even feel it! Madness!!

ASGIRC · 11/09/2023 17:16

@IVFfirsttimer91 OMG how exciting!!! I'm glad it all went well!!
And fingers crossed your gender scan confirms it's a girl!

I'm also 100% convinced Im having a girl, and only have a girl name picked, but keep having to tell myself it could also be a boy, so that I'm not too disappointed if that is the case! 😂😂😂

My 12 week one is 2 weeks tomorrow, and I can't wait.
The last 2 scans I had were really rushed and didn't see much more than a beating heart, so I can't wait to actually see the baby properly, specially as it will now have arms and legs and all sorts!

@SH998 you haven't told your dad yet?!
😂😂

I've told most people already. Though last night I was back to pretending, as my stepsister stayed for dinner, and I don't want her to know. Obviously it will be hard to hide forever, but if I could, I would!! 😂😂

I also want to post on FB, but don't want to tell work, and I have dozens of work people on FB (despite only having been at this job for 3 months, I used to work here 19 to 15 years ago, so I have loads of FB friends from that time who still work here!)
So I'm not 100% sure how/when I'm gonna do that (ideally, I wouldn't tell work until the 20 week scan).

IVFfirsttimer91 · 11/09/2023 17:30

@ASGIRC thanks so much!!! I’m honestly over the moon! And oooh that’s so exciting! 2 weeks feels like forever but it will be here soon enough! I think honestly after all this ivf process I’d just be happy with a healthy baby, of either gender, but I know you’ve got a lot of family history with male babies so I totally get that you want your little girl!! Fingers crossed it is a she for you too! ❤️❤️

SH998 · 11/09/2023 18:14

@ASGIRC my last pregnancy I told far more people than I have this time and it ended badly, I then had to re-tell everyone that I’d miscarried which was traumatic in itself especially getting the ‘oh I’m so sorry sympathy looks’. In a stupid way I felt a failure getting IVF as my body couldn’t do the one thing a woman’s body is meant to do naturally, so this feeling of failure hit me even harder when I miscarried.
My fathers a worrier so all our lives me and my siblings have kept things from him in a silly way to protect him (no idea why really as he’s tough as old boots lol). I wouldn’t want him worrying should anything go wrong. My stepmom who’s like a mother to me knows everything though
I suppose also holding back, in a silly way is me trying to protect myself should anything bad happen, having to deal with less people in that instance is better for me.

I am now counting down the days until my official 12 week scan, is yours the 25th too? I can then begin to tell everyone. I don’t think I’ll make an official Facebook post I’ll just tell close friends and family and let the word spread. It wouldn’t take long in my small knit community.

Maybe block the ones you don’t want to see the posts if that’s at all possible, I’m crap with social media and technology lol 😂

@IVFfirsttimer91 ill only have 3 weeks after the ‘12 week scan’ too so I’m sure I can wait that long to have the gender reveal lol 😂

ASGIRC · 11/09/2023 18:24

@SH998 I completely understand the not telling people, particularly after a loss.
The sympathy looks and the asking my how I'm doing were my main deterrents from telling people earlier.
Until my first scan, I'd told my mom and some friends I couldn't hide from, due to the not drinking (and they knew I was planning on doing the treatment soon!).

It was only after each scan that I widened the circle of who knew!
But I couldn't not tell my dad when I told my aunts and uncles. He would have been soooo offended!

The FB thing is also because I have friends all over. Having lived in the UK for 14 years, and having a very friendly (and expensive) hobby, means things are not contained.

But yeah, I might block the work people from the post, or just make the post a bit later..

My scan is on the 26th, so the day after yours!! I will be 12+4 then!!

Sangels267 · 11/09/2023 21:19

@IVFfirsttimer91 I love the boots 🥰 so cute!

@Charming81 very happy for you after your scan 💕 it's such a relief.

I hope everyone is doing ok. My sickness and nausea came back in full force on Saturday 😕

ASGIRC · 11/09/2023 23:24

@Sangels267 ugh thats just not what you need! Hope it eases soon!

SH998 · 12/09/2023 05:20

@ASGIRC same here, the only friends I’ve told are the ones I go drinking with so I’ve pretty much had no option but to tell them as it’s difficult to hide the fact I now haven’t drank for months without a good reason lol 😂 all knew about the IVF so were over the moon.

Has your dad come around a little now? My dad will be over the moon but shocked, I’ve been with my partner for 7 years so he would have expected it way before now.

Only 2 weeks to wait, I would say it will fly by but we both know this wouldn’t be the case.

ASGIRC · 12/09/2023 12:13

@SH998 my dad is.. fine. Hes very closed off, but he does ask questions about the baby, more of the technical side of things, like rate of heartbeat, size, etc which is his way of showing he cares.

My stepdad is more irritating in that sense, as he always asks how the baby is... Dude. I have no idea. Dont ask how the baby is. I have no way of answering that. I feel rubbish. He means really well, but it winds me up!

Ive been avoiding texting a lot of friends still! Specially the ones I go out drinking with, exclusively. But in 10 days I will stop this self imposed reclusiveness! Its making me miserable to basically just work and go home, even if I am always sleepy!

Also... 10 DAYS UNTIL I STOP THE PESSARIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have my "midwife" appointment in a bit!

SH998 · 12/09/2023 15:22

@ASGIRC how sweet of your dad to ask them sort of questions, I don't think my dad would even think of those things lol.

I will feel better once its out in the open too, I can then go for meals without having to make excuses, I've only been out twice with friends and both times I made excuses to drive and leave early, they probably already know to be honest as that just not me. Not long for either of us now.

I'm actually really concerned to stop the pessaries so god help when the time comes, can feel another dramatic breakdown brewing lol.

Good luck for later, keep us updated.

ASGIRC · 12/09/2023 16:32

@SH998 Your placenta is doing the work. The progesterone is not doing anythng anymore! Repeat this as a matra!

Because my family knows, and theyre the only ones Ive had meals with, I can drink my 0.0% beer in peace!

When I went to my local and asked for the 0% beer every one kept asking me if I was ill...

Next time I go there Ill be able to tell them, and also ask them to change the beer they buy, as the one they stock is disgusting!
