Hi ladies. I’m so sorry to hear that you’re feeling so anxious @ASGIRC and @Charming81. I had a real moment earlier today when I felt like it all must have gone wrong and nearly booked a scan for tomorrow afternoon as well. But as my next scan is Monday I didn’t as there’s nothing anyone can do anyway if it has gone wrong. No pain or bleeding just a lot of light cramping over the last couple of weeks - except today when I had one painful cramp that lasted maybe 5-10 seconds but was really sore. Nothing like that before or since and I’m back to the usual small cramps around my stomach. Praying that things are going to be ok still on Monday. Hope you are all doing ok.

ASGIRC · 07/09/2023 19:56

@IVFfirsttimer91 that big cramp must have been worrying!!
Monday is in no time. I'm sure everything will be fine!!

@wtawtaw I'm sure clear fluid is normal in pregnancy.

Because of all the progesterone, I have no idea how much discharge I actually have... I'm always leaking, but it's the white goo!

My 12 week scan is on the 26th and I don't think I can last that long.
I'm seriously thinking about booking an appointment with a private OB.

I've started cramping now... I haven't had any cramps in ages... Ugh!

wtawtaw · 07/09/2023 19:59

@IVFfirsttimer91 do you think they may have been uterus stretching pains? Hope so!

@ASGIRC if it was clear it wouldn't bother me as I know that's normal, it was orange/pink tinged which is what scared me. Only time will tell I guess.

@Walker12 you and your scans 😅 how many have you had?

ASGIRC · 07/09/2023 20:04

@wtawtaw yeah, that's a weird colour...
When's your next appointment?

I've just booked an OB appt for next Friday.

wtawtaw · 07/09/2023 20:21

@ASGIRC next Tuesday, it will be my 12 week scan 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Glad you managed to get another scan!

ASGIRC · 07/09/2023 20:23

@wtawtaw ahhh amazing!! You can hold off until then!!!

Its not a scan, per se. It is an actual doctors appointment, which Im hoping will include a scan as well!
I have my "midwife" (we dont actually have midwives here) appointment on tuesday, but Im pretty sure they wont do scans at that one!

wtawtaw · 07/09/2023 20:53

@ASGIRC ohhh I see!! Yes hopefully they can scan you! They're bound to have the equipment there.

Yeah I'll hold off, we very nearly booked one for this morning but didn't in the end!

SH998 · 07/09/2023 20:54

No one should feel pathetic as we all feel the same and are all in it together. We are here to vent, listen and get advice, its actually nice to hear that you all have the same fears I have (maybe nice ain’t the right work but it’s comforting that I’m not alone with my fears). Although since Mondays last minute scan and seeing the baby literally bouncing up and down with its arms all over the place I feel a lot more positive. I’m now feeling slightly excited for the next scan, not sure how long that will last before the panic sets in again.

If you feel another scan will help the anxiety and you can get one then deffo do it, do whatever you need to calm yourself.

My symptoms are practically none existent now too, I’m assuming that’s the norm, I have slightly increased discharge but every wipe I do check for discolouration or blood. There has been a few instances since week 8 but I’m kind of getting used to it as it’s nothing bad or heavy. Im also feeling the odd little cramp now and again, nothing major but last few days I’ve felt more than before. I assume it’s stretching or maybe my tilted uterus flipping.

@Walker12 ahhh scan twins 😃 what time is yours? Mines 9am and I’ll be 13 + 2 which seems late but as I’m within the timescale I’m ok with that. It does seem aggeessss away though doesn’t it lol

ASGIRC · 07/09/2023 21:06

@wtawtaw that's what I'm banking on!!
Everyone I know who's booked a private OB appt has had a scan, so there's no reason to think it'll be different.

I don't actually know this OB or have any references, but it is one at a clinic I tend to go to, as I've been an associate for a few years and pay less than 100 euros per year and the consults are 50% or more off!

@SH998 absolutely! I feel a bit pathetic only because I know it is completely irrational to have this constant worry.
But I know we all have it, and that it is "normal".

I just want it to stop! I want to tell the WORLD I'm pregnant, but keep stopping myself, just in case (though a lot of people know already, but then I second guess telling them, and stop myself telling more people!)

IVFfirsttimer91 · 07/09/2023 21:19

It was quite worrying but I’m happy nothing has happened since. And I hope it was just growing pains or trapped wind or something! It’s just my brain going haywire, I’ve calmed down now and I’m looking forward to Monday xxx

Walker12 · 07/09/2023 21:56

@IVFfirsttimer91 I mentioned cramps to the midwife and she reassured me it's very normal and expected. Good luck for your scan on Monday but I'm sure it'll all be absolutely fine!
@ASGIRC I would definitely go for the extra appt if it will put your mind at ease a bit.
@wtawtaw I've actually only had 2 (7w and 9w) but it's so hard not to keep booking them when they are so easy to get!! I will stop after this one until 12wks and then hoping I will relax a bit more (but I can totally see myself getting extra scans the whole time!)
@SH998 I agree it's good in a way to know we are all having similar fears. My scan is at 9.20 so also nice and early! Mine is early as we are going on holiday so she said she was going to try to squeeze it in before we go.

wtawtaw · 07/09/2023 22:07

@Walker12 oh absolutely! It's very tempting just to book scans, there's no way I could go from 12 - 20 weeks either so would definitely book one at 16 weeks too. We want to find out the gender then anyway. Plus the high we all get after seeing baby wriggle about of course makes us want to see that more 🥰

SH998 · 08/09/2023 05:17

@Walker12 @ASGIRC ive learnt that rational and IVF do not go hand in hand lol 😂

One minute I’ll be happy, positive and straight thinking then the next minute being completely stressed and unreasonable for absolutely no reason at all.

I seem to make these little ‘what if’ scenarios up in my head which makes me think the worse often bringing me to tears. I’m frying my partners head with it all, luckily he’s very calm and has been amazing in talking me around when I get like that … which at the moment has been about 6 times a week lol 😂

@wtawtaw i agree, if I could afford a scan each week I would be doing that too 😃

@IVFfirsttimer91 good luck for Mondays scan.

ASGIRC · 08/09/2023 10:48

Started having some mild cramping yesterday... And today they're back with full force.
I don't usually have period cramps, my periods are pretty painless, but these are pretty uncomfortable...

I'm sure they're normal, but obviously, what with yesterday's anxiety, I'm thinking the worst...

Actually debating going to the hospital... But feeling silly for even considering it

SH998 · 08/09/2023 10:54

@ASGIRC I'm sure its absolutely nothing to worry about and cramping should be normal, baby/uterus is stretching and doing all sorts of miracles that we don't see but if you feel you need to visit the hospital then do it. This is you and your baby's health so never feel silly about that.

Its a shame you don't have midwife services out there, I was given a 24 hour helpline as well as the midwifes number to contact should I need to, is there nothing like that with you?

ASGIRC · 08/09/2023 10:56

@SH998 I have my GP maternal health appointment on Tuesday. Maybe I'll get a number then? But for now, no, I don't have anything of the sort.
And I don't have a private OB either, so not anyone I can call..

I will call our 111 equivalent and see what they say, before actually going to the hospital!

SH998 · 08/09/2023 11:13

@ASGIRC that's a good idea, its better to be safe than sorry isn't it. Good luck but I'm sure all will be fine.

ASGIRC · 08/09/2023 11:15

@SH998 111 nurse said to go to the hospital, just to be sure.

So off I go!

Might get a scan out of it 😂
And hopefully everything will be fine

SH998 · 08/09/2023 11:20

@ASGIRC ha ha fingers crossed you get to see your little bean again soon. I'm sure all will be fine but good luck and keep us updated :)

Charming81 · 08/09/2023 11:29

@ASGIRC I am sure everything will be fine. Cramps and twinges are quite normal. I have them every day of all sorts. Like menstrual cramps, endo cramps, gas cramps 🤣. Sometimes, when I get up, I have the feeling my uterus is ripping off

ASGIRC · 08/09/2023 11:32

@Charming81 yeah, I know, but it's the first time I'm having these types of cramps, so it's a "new" symptom.

In any case, I'm on my way to the hospital, and hopefully everything will be fine!
I will update when I have news!

Walker12 · 08/09/2023 12:38

I am sure baby is fine @ASGIRC but definitely best to get checked, hope all is well

ASGIRC · 08/09/2023 13:34

Everything is fine!!!
Saw the bean, bigger than last week (but no measurements taken), and heart was beating.

Cervix is closed, but it is now bleeding, after being violently attacked by a speculum (my cervix is a little princess and hates being touched. When that happens, it protests by bleeding 🙄), so will now have to remind myself that some brown blood is possible and normal!

I'm still a ball of nerves though 😂😂
It's almost as if this wasn't reassuring at all. FML 😂😂😂

Charming81 · 08/09/2023 13:44

@ASGIRC good news! Now you only have to wait 2 more weeks! 😅

ASGIRC · 08/09/2023 13:48

@Charming81 😂😂😂 so true!
And I still have an appt booked next week. Will decide at some point whether to keep it or cancel it 😂😂
