Ahhh I love all these names!! Maggie is too cute and I love love love Frankie!

@beehappy19 i absolutely cannot wait to find out the sex of the bean. Means I can start calling it him/her instead of ‘it’ haha - also I’m probably the most impatient person in the world.

ASGIRC · 18/08/2023 18:40

Before I went with IVF, and I thought Id meet Prince Charming and have babies the "normal" way, and because of my being a carrier of hemophilia, I was gonna do the blood test ASAP.
However, I keep reading that theyre very innacurate and get contaminated easily (the home ones, at least..), so Ive kinda given up on it.
And obviously, now it is not a case of deciding whether to continue with the pregnancy or not, so Im more relaxed about it.

But there is no way I can know for 9 months! I think the people who choose to do that are INSANE!

IVFfirsttimer91 · 18/08/2023 18:45

@ASGIRC totally agree. Why would you not want to know 😂 so many fun things to buy for either gender!

ASGIRC · 18/08/2023 18:56

@IVFfirsttimer91 Absolutely!
Though if I have a girl, she will be forever in dresses and bows and pink! (To be fair, I am forever in dresses and pink, just not so much the bows!)

Food wise, today has been midly better!
I bought a pack of those tiny packaged brioche buns yesterday, and took 2 to work, with ham and cheese in them. The first one went down REALLY well! So much so, I fancied the second one! But that was a bit of a mistake.

Then after I got home and was hungry, eating another one of the brioche buns with ham and cheese also felt fine, so I had 2 and it was ok!
Im still hungry, though, and unsure what to have for dinner, as I dont really want anything... But at least I managed to eat a bit!

I did have 2 situations of feeling actually nauseous, though, which was unpleasant. The food aversion is bad enough, I dont need actual nausea!

beehappy19 · 18/08/2023 19:23

Yes completely agree. There’s no way I could wait. I’d have to know just so I could buy things and decide on a name… my husband and I are very far apart when it comes to boy names so we’d need to know then if it was a girl we wouldn’t need to give boys names another thought!

SH998 · 18/08/2023 19:43

@ASGIRC love Maggie, such a cute little girls name. Buying unisex white things can be boring and limited, sooner we find out sooner we can start buying cute, colourful things.

SH998 · 18/08/2023 19:44

@beehappy19 by 7 weeks you will be able to see everything, it’s an amazing experience. I’m sure the next week will drag by or it did at least for me lol

ASGIRC · 18/08/2023 19:50

@SH998 oh man, I havent bought a single thing yet!

Im still feeling very detached about the whole thing. Like it isnt actually happening. I dont really feel pregnant (food aversion and nausea notwithstanding!!), and while it was SUCH a relief to see the heartbeat yesterday, I dont feel very strongly yet.

My mom was gushing, going all "I am soooo happy!!" and I just felt a bit inadequate, because I dont feel happier than before. (I feel generally happy, though! Im one of those people!)
Sometimes I wonder if this "indiference" will carry on throughout the whole pregnancy or if it will change once I feel the baby kick, or even once the baby is born! Im sure I will. I am not a robot. But so far, I feel a bit weird about it!

SH998 · 18/08/2023 19:57

@ASGIRC do you think it might be coz you haven’t really experienced many symptoms? I don’t feel pregnant at all so sometimes it actually feels like it’s not happening.

Also, im terrified of something going wrong and therefore feel I can’t get excited about it although I really want too. I’m hoping that Tuesdays scan will be another milestone past and I can start to relax and enjoy.

Maybe you will feel more attached after the next scan in 2 weeks, baby being bigger and seeing it’s limbs might do the trick 🙂

ASGIRC · 18/08/2023 20:17

@SH998 Im not a particularly emotional person, at the best of times..
I dont really believe in star signs, but there are memes about where each sign wears its heart, and Capricorns dont have a heart, they have pizza.
And it is pretty accurate for me and a couple of friends. We joke about it, how we have a pizza instead of a heart.
So it seems very par for the course.
When I got my clearblue positive I laughed like a loon for 10 minutes.
When I left the doctors yesterday I was a bit giddy. And Id had a knot in my stomach before hand, when I thought it would be bad news.

So Im not completely detached from it. But Im not one for big feelings.

But also, yes. humanising the bean will help. Currently it is just a small bean, and I dont feel it. Cant wait to see arms and legs at the next scan!

SH998 · 18/08/2023 20:27

@ASGIRC well if you don’t have a heart the second best thing is a pizza 😂

Lets just hope the next few weeks fly by for us all 😃

Lauralozzle · 18/08/2023 20:34

I’m a bit behind do trying to catch up:

@10degreessunny I’m so sorry. 😢

@ASGIRC Congrats on your scan and good news.

Everyone else who has had a scan and good news, congrats.

I’ve finally stopped bleeding/spotting today. So that’s been pretty much 2 weeks either spotting/bleeding so I’m glad it’s over. It happened last cycle too, worlds longest period but things went back to normal pretty quick. Review is Monday, that’s come around quick!

Olivia199 · 18/08/2023 20:40

@ASGIRC - I felt like this last time and this time. For me it was that I couldn't really get my head around it. The more I looked pregnant and the further I got with buying stuff and getting the house ready the more I felt excited but honestly it just felt incomprehensible. It all changed the second I heard that cry though.

Yep, I had a 5AA who started growing at hatching further as soon as it'd defrosted so I was sure it was a boy based on statistics. But at the 12 week scan I said to mum "that's a little girl" and sure enough, 16 week scan backed me up!

I'm absolutely doing another 16 week scan too. Not just to find out but because the wait between 12 and 20 weeks feels quite a lot. After 20 weeks, although you don't routinely get more scans, you can often feel little one and the midwife appts get more frequent etc so you feel less left alone!

@Lauralozzle - So glad you've stopped. It sounds absolutely bloody horrific. I hope all goes well on Monday and they have something productive for you!

@Olivia199 2 weeks of bleeding is not ideal! It’s been very light past few days but I’m glad I won’t have to double think underwear choices now!

Holiday booked! Week away in Devon in September! I’m looking forward to it!

ASGIRC · 18/08/2023 20:56

@Olivia199 Yeah, I think that as things get "more real" it will start kicking in.

Im ok with how I feel right now. I KNOW it will change, if not before, then definitely when the baby is here.

I think I will also have a 16 week scan. No way can I wait that long to find out the sex!

Olivia199 · 18/08/2023 21:01

@Lauralozzle - Ah your holiday sounds glorious! And very well deserved!!

OP posts:
SH998 · 18/08/2023 21:02

@Olivia199 mine was a hatching 5BB which continued as soon as defrosted so I’m convinced it’s a boy but your story just throws that theory out the window lol

@Lauralozzle im glad you’ve finally stopped bleeding and a new appointment booked so quickly. A holiday will do you wonders, I absolutely love Devon, we go at least once a year, it’s our favourite place 🥰

Im now joining in on the 16 week gender scan club, I couldn’t wait till 20 weeks if I tried.

ASGIRC · 18/08/2023 21:05

@Lauralozzle woop woop for a holiday!!! Im in dire need of one, but get no annual leave this year (new job, cant take AL for the 1st 6 months!)
So I will be living vicariously through you!
Im glad you finally stopped bleeding!

Olivia199 · 18/08/2023 22:01

@SH998 - She was a little curve ball in many many ways so perhaps you will get your little boy!

Just went to tk max to get new towels…
couldn’t leave without this. Can’t believe I can buy this stuff now. Still being a bit cautious as we aren’t at 12 weeks yet, but all signs are good that we will get there so I caved.

@IVFfirsttimer91 wow it's so cute! I haven't bought anything yet, really want to wait until I'm 12 weeks. But I think it's going to be so hard to wait another 6 weeks 😬

Olivia199 · 19/08/2023 12:26

@IVFfirsttimer91 - Oh my gosh that is totally delicious!!
I've bought a little outfit on the way home from treatment as a bit of a good luck charm. It's now hanging proudly on the door.

I did the same with my DD and it ended up being what I brought her home in. Happiest day of my life!

Omg @Olivia199 that is just adorable!!! I think this little outfit is probably what I’m going to bring the bean home in too. There was another one with little sheep on it which I loved too. But couldn’t resist the raccoon on this one lol.

I didn’t buy the sheep one because I didn’t want to tempt fate too hard, but I’ve read MC rates go right down after seeing a strong heartbeat and movement after 9 weeks, so hopefully we match with that statistic. Only 3 weeks to go until 12 weeks, and then I’ll go back and get the sheep one 🥰. This is the first thing I’ve bought for bean, my partner came home with a couple of tiny pairs of leggings the other day which he saw in FARA
