@Lauralozzle you are in the same situation as me, I’m 10DPT still BFN also been spotting since last Tuesday. I’m thinking the same as you, the clinic told me to carry on.
hope your feeling okay xx

Walker12 · 07/08/2023 13:51

@loulamay so happy it's done and you get to go home finally!

Hi83 · 07/08/2023 14:02

Those that it hasn’t worked for, how long did you have to wait to have you next transfer?

I know after the over stimulation after the egg retrieval I had to wait 3 months

ASGIRC · 07/08/2023 14:05

@loulamay can your GP or the private clinic not prescribe more meds, if you need them?

Lauralozzle · 07/08/2023 14:08

@Hi83 Im sorry you’re looking at a failed round too. Do you have any frozen? Or will be you be looking at a fresh cycle?

IVFfirsttimer91 · 07/08/2023 14:20

@Hi83 i had to wait for 3 months between my first and second round, but that’s because my miscarriage took a really long time and several rounds of meds to complete. My clinic said had that not been the case I could have tried again at my next cycle xx

Hi83 · 07/08/2023 14:27

i have one more frozen 🥶 and then that’s it! I can’t afford to do private

Hi83 · 07/08/2023 14:27

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage @IVFfirsttimer91

IVFfirsttimer91 · 07/08/2023 14:30

@Hi83 thanks, it was a blighted ovum that just wouldn’t budge lol. Thankfully out the other end now. Ivf takes a lot out of us, I know the instinct is to go ‘let’s go again right now’ but sometimes a bit of space in between rounds is actually a really good thing for MH in retrospect xxxx

ASGIRC · 07/08/2023 16:16

@Hi83 I'm sorry it seems like it hasn't worked for you this time.

My understanding is that you can start next cycle, if there are no inconveniences.

Lauralozzle · 07/08/2023 16:30

@Hi83 In that case I think you can go again pretty quickly.

Olivia199 · 07/08/2023 19:37

@Lauralozzle and @HiHi83, I'm so so sorry. Thinking of you both and hope your next transfers are a success.

@loulamay - so glad you'll be home soon and glad the transfer went well. X

@Walker12 @ASGIRC - Worth knowing about the hook effect as tests can indeed get lighter when everything is just fine and will still be influenced by urine dilution.

@Olivia199 Oh yes I've heard about this, too anxious to try it!
I've had some cramping on and off today which is worrying me a bit. Even though logically I know how common it is in early pregnancy it just feels wrong! But I've done my vial of blood for my beta and posted off today so hoping I get a good reassuring number with that.

loulamay · 07/08/2023 19:55

Just got to get to the airport tomorrow in one piece... It's stuff like this that I tell people about when they ask us why we left here... https://www.wionews.com/world/cape-town-taxi-strike-at-least-2-killed-3-injured-amid-clashes-uk-and-australia-issue-travel-warnings-623182

loulamay · 07/08/2023 19:58

@Walker12 crikey - how did you do your own bloods?!

Walker12 · 07/08/2023 20:02

@loulamay gosh that is so worrying, at least you will be home soon!
For the bloods at home they give you a fingerprick lancet and you have to squeeze your finger to get enough blood out, it's quite grim actually and I had to use another finger in the end to get enough blood- should have just booked an appt really but I couldn't be bothered to drive 40mins!

loulamay · 07/08/2023 20:05

@Walker12 bless you! I will also be doing the fingerprick should I get a BFP. Multiple fingers is a good idea! How long until you get your results?

Walker12 · 07/08/2023 20:16

@loulamay - hopefully you will be! If you do I would recommend soaking your hand in warm/hot water for 5mins beforehand as it seems to help the blood flow. Results should be within 2 days so I am hoping by Weds! I think people often buy 2 at the same time so they can do them exactly 48hrs apart but I am just going to compare mine roughly to the ones I had last week.
When do you think you will start testing?

loulamay · 07/08/2023 20:18

I would love to tell you not until at least 7dpt but I don't know if I have the self-control... Equally, I don't know if I can deal with a chemical so I was thinking that I should wait until at least 7 or 8dpt just to be sure of a good line... I have cheapies and 4 FRERs waiting at home...

Walker12 · 07/08/2023 20:21

@loulamay I had good intentions and ended up starting at 5dpt.. but 7dpt seems like a good time to test I agree. Maybe hide the tests out of easy reach for a few days!

SH998 · 07/08/2023 20:37

I buckled today and booked an earlier scan which is now Friday. My clinic scan isn’t until I’m 8 weeks 3 days which is still over 2 weeks away and seemed like a lifetime away, I had every intention of waiting but my crazy mind took over any reasonable thoughts in my head today.

Ill be 6 weeks, 6 days on Friday, do you think this is an ok date to see something? They only had evening or weekend appointments and my partner is working all weekend.

Absolutely bricking it now incase it’s not good news, seems a little more real now. Still have very little symptoms which is not helping my anxiety 😥

Walker12 · 07/08/2023 20:47

@SH998 I don't blame you at all, im with you with the crazy worrying thoughts today! My scan booked my scan at 7 weeks exactly so I imagine 6w6d you should be fine to see something yes. I am sure you will get good news but totally understand the worry!

Olivia199 · 07/08/2023 20:49

Oh bless you @SH998, can absolutely understand why you did it! They may well be able to see something but please don't be disheartened if they can't. My clinic very much say they don't expect to before 7 weeks. I'm sure you'll be absolutely grand!

I've not got much in the way of symptoms anymore. The nausea went with the pneumonia. The sore boobs and an insane hunger remain..!
