Yay! new thread!!! The other was was nearly done! How exciting!!!

I might call in at the pharmacy near work and ask their advice- re pregancy test. I feel like tomorrow I might do a proper one (along with a cheap one, to see if theres progression on the line), as tomorrow was the day the doctor said there would have to be a positive line for this to be working!

Olivia199 · 25/07/2023 15:04

@ASGIRC - Can't believe we have filled up! That sounds like a good shout. Re work: there isn't too much it'll affect but it will be a problem here and there, and minimal excuses in terms of changing the allocation. They're also the loveliest team in the world and a small one at that. So I'll tell the band 7 and then after the scan I'll drip feed it to the rest!

Though one or two have asked a lot lately and I'm unsure I'd be able to keep it in!

I can hardly believe the test every morning. Feels like I’m letting myself get more excited the darker they get, but I also have had terrible tooth pain the last 2 days and just found out i need a root canal. I’m so worried about infection and X-rays that I’m now beyond stressed.

ASGIRC · 25/07/2023 15:10

@Ivfround1 that is stressful!! But yay for such a good line!!

However, Im sure the dentist have dealt with pregnant women before, so just let them know, and theyll advise on the best course of action!

Olivia199 · 25/07/2023 15:11

@Ivfround1 - That's an amazing test! No surprise you're stressed though, and tooth pain is the worst, but please try not to worry. The dentist will be well versed in this and will know what to do!

Ooh a new thread!!! That’s exciting!!! I’ve never made it to a thread 2 before 😂.

@Ivfround1 congratulations!!! I’m sorry about the RCT though. I’d definitely ask your dentist what they would advise. Maybe they could do something temporary-ish to stop any pain? Though with root canal it’s probably best to just get it out of the way. Dental x rays have super minimal exposure so maybe one would be ok xx

ASGIRC · 25/07/2023 16:31

Went to the pharmacy to buy a test, and the guy gave me a regular clear blue (one of those that gives you a result in less than a minute, apparently)... I argued and said I wanted a really sensitive one, as I wasnt late yet, but he insisted it was a really good one.

The good thing is it was fairly cheap for a clear blue test! Only about 7 euros. So if Im not happy with it tomorrow, Ill buy a different one from somewhere else.

Walker12 · 25/07/2023 16:56

@Ivfround1 Congratulations!
@loulamay apparently beetroot helps with blood flow to the uterus and can be good for lining. I have been having beetroot juice and it's really not great tasting (although if you squint it looks like red wine), but they said my lining was really thick (may be a total coincidence of course!).

I've also tried to order some FRER today and can't find any in stock, other than a single test for £9.. must be all the July IVFers buying them up 😂

Olivia199 · 25/07/2023 17:04

@ASGIRC - Don't be disheartened if it isn't as sensitive as I think the fast result ones aren't early? I could be wrong though!!

@Walker12 - Right?! Where did the FRER go?!

OP posts:
ASGIRC · 25/07/2023 17:10

@Olivia199 yeah, no this is definitely not an early results one... Its says "99% accurate from the day of your missed period" Which would be tomorrow, on a normal cycle, anyway! LOL

But I might go and get an early result one as well!

Olivia199 · 25/07/2023 17:20

It always blew my mind that cycles can be so long with fertility treatment! Hopefully it's sensitive enough and if not at least you know!

OP posts:
loulamay · 25/07/2023 17:22

thanks @Walker12 will see if I can get my hands on some tomorrow!

@Olivia199 just what I needed to hear about the extra days and no drama. Think I'm just knackered and I'm sure I'll feel better after a good night's sleep! Have never had lining issues before so maybe it just needs a bit more boosting 💪

@ASGIRC you may have answered but do your clinic do betas?

Olivia199 · 25/07/2023 17:29

@loulamay - They are really relaxed about it. The pre treatment form just says they'll bring you back in a week if it isn't thick enough to recheck. At which point they may add further meds if it's not thickening. So hopefully yours will be there soon enough. It's making sure it's perfect for the little embryo!

OP posts:
ASGIRC · 25/07/2023 17:37

@Olivia199 I mean... I am getting faint lines on the cheapie ones, so theres no reason not to get one on this one, specially tomorrow, with one more day of growing hCG!
Today I could see the line while the test was still wet, which yesterday I definitely couldnt! So there is SOMETHING! Lets just hope it is something that keeps evolving!

@loulamay yes, they do! Have mine on friday! From the letter they gave me on transfer day, it is free if I do it at the clinic, but am waiting on confirmation of that from the clinic.
it is a little bit annoying, as theres a lab 5 mins away from my house (its the same lab they have at the clinic), and the clinic is about 45 minutes away by bus!😂

If they reply back that theyll cover it at any labs, im definitely not going all the way across town! LOL

Bristol1988 · 25/07/2023 17:59

@Ivfround1 congrats on the line! Also re root canal, dental X-rays are minimal exposure and fine to have one during pregnancy, but if you’d rather not they’ll be able to do enough to get you out of pain and then do the rest once baby is here, and tell the dentist that you’re pregnant because then you get your treatment for free. (I’m a dental nurse btw)

So many positives on here, and thread is moving so quickly I’m struggling to keep up but massive congratulations to everyone so far!

The embryologist rang today and another one of mine has caught up so now have 3 in the freezer 🤞🏻 My husband is being deployed for 6 months soon so really glad I’ve got some back up so I can carry on with further cycles while he’s away (if this one doesn’t work).

Bristol1988 · 25/07/2023 18:02

The length of cycle during ivf confuses me so much, my period should be due 30th July but my test date isn’t until 4th august. Baffles me 😂

loulamay · 25/07/2023 18:09

that's great news @Bristol1988 ! I feel for you having to go through potential future transfers alone but so great that you have back ups! x

Fluxie · 25/07/2023 18:25

Hey there-

I've been reading all your posts like a total voyeur... so thought I'd say 'hi'. I'm a first time Ivf-er and not yet mum.

I had my first et on Sunday and pleased to know that I've got three more to freeze. I was told by the NHS that my AMH was too low (4) to qualify for IVF treatment, so getting 10 eggs fertilised was a total shock.

I'm now day two post 5 day transfer and beginning the wait. My test day is not til the 3rd, but would love to know when you think it might be suitable to home test? And which sort to buy?

@Bristol1988 I think your period is delayed by the progesterone so you wouln't get it anyway until you stop.

Over and out

XX

Walker12 · 25/07/2023 18:38

Great news about the frozen embryos @Bristol1988, its such a relief isnt it.

Hi and welcome @Fluxie, we are on the same timeline as I am also 2 days post transfer (also first time ivf and not yet a mum!). My test date from the clinic is the 5th Aug. My hcg trigger shot was 10,000 gonasi which I have read can take 10-14 days to leave the system, so I am going to try to hold out testing until Sunday which would be 2 weeks post trigger for me. Do you remember what your trigger shot was as this would influence when might be a good time to start testing? I have learnt all this in the last few weeks and partly from the lovely people on this thread!!

loulamay · 25/07/2023 18:40

welcome @Fluxie . How are you feeling after the transfer? Was it a fresh one following your egg retrieval?

for home testing - it depends on how restrained you are as a person 😆I have always tested from 4dp5dt onwards but I'm insane - with my daughter, I got a faint line on day 6.

You can get cheap tests on Amazon, the One Step ones are dirt cheap in bulk and I've always found to be reliable. Lots of people swear by the First Response Early Result tests (you'll see them called FRER) but there seems to be a dearth of them around at the moment for reasons unknown!

Olivia199 · 25/07/2023 18:42

@ASGIRC - Oh yes of course, I thought you were already using CB early. I spaced on the fact you had cheapies!

Olivia199 · 25/07/2023 18:42

@Bristol1988 - Amazing news on the frosties! Congratulations!

OP posts:
Olivia199 · 25/07/2023 18:44

@Fluxie - Hello and welcome!! If you've read all of us jabbering on so far then you're part of the crowd already! Congratulations on your transfer and I've got everything crossed for you.
If you can get hold of the elusive First Response Early Result then they're great, but as mentioned be aware of the trigger shot.

If not, and you're in the UK, the boots early result is also very good and I got my early positive on that!

Bristol1988 · 25/07/2023 18:47

Thanks for all the advice on which hpt to get everyone, gonna be checking every Boots I go past now on the hunt for the FRERs

Fluxie · 25/07/2023 19:08

Thanks all! It's really nice to hear from others in the same boat.

@Walker12 I was told to test on the 3rd August, but worry I might cave before then. But how to cave... so thanks @Olivia199 and @loulamay - I think I'm just going to buy one good one and aim for day 7! I'm really scared of getting a false positive!

My trigger was Busarelin and something else.. I forget what. I really have just left the medications up to my husband, he's way more organised than I am!

Huge congrats to all those with lines! I'm yet to see one of my own. Fingers crossed!

@Walker12 How are you feeling? I'm totally wiped out today. Had an afternoon siesta which is quite out of character! x
