Hello!

Just wanted to start a thread and see if anyone was going ahead with a transfer in July.

I've just had my nurse consult and hoping to have my second FET in July (my first was successful in Jan 2021 and I had my wonderful DD).

The first time around I was of course beyond nervous, excited, terrified it wouldn't work etc. This time it feels like that's doubled! I'm a private patient so I've saved everything for this but should it fail, it'll be a long long time before I could afford to try again.

To add some nerves, I'd need to be cycle day one no later than the 6th July to go ahead, as my clinic is moving locations. I'm currently due on the 5th...! So every chance it's moved to a Sept cycle.

Would be nice to have some company!

:)

@Walker12 im 7dp5dt - i did. test at various times and i have gotten super faint lines but trying not to get excited because its barely visible and not getting any darker.

@TheBirdintheCave i think you need to trust your gut on this. And as much as people tell you to be positive, it may be easier to regard this as a chemical and stop testing for while? Worst case you get a positive surprise? i know for myself that would be easier… i guess the only issue is the drugs. You probably wanna wait until you get proper negative tests before stopping them?

orchid29 · 24/07/2023 12:51

@loulamay good luck! it sounds like quite the adventure. i hope the rest of the journey goes smoother.

TheBirdintheCave · 24/07/2023 12:52

@orchid29 I have to test tomorrow as its OTD (as pointless as it seems haha) but yes I won't be doing any more after that as I'm sure it will fade away by Wednesday at the latest. I'll finish the box of progesterone that I have, which I think takes me up to Friday and then hopefully that will have delayed my period enough for the stars to align in order for me to have my next transfer in September.

ttcsolomumtobe · 24/07/2023 12:57

@Walker12 gosh that does sound rough, hope you start to improve soon and check in with your clinic again if not.

@TheBirdintheCave for £40 and no matter how many hours of travel I would want to get the beta, especially as you are away at the weekend, it will be all consuming.
Or as someone else said if your gut feeling is it's not positive then make your peace with that in the next day or two and enjoy your family break away, leave all tests at home and maybe test when you get back as that should be super clear on the situation. Again I don't say these words lightly or think it's that simple but the amount of heartache you are putting yourself through isn't worth a saving of £40 and travel costs in the grand scheme of it.

@ASGIRC wows, that's exciting... Looking forward to further updates.

Walker12 · 24/07/2023 13:01

Yes I had my transfer yesterday @loulamay, really hope being unwell doesnt have any bearing on the outcome 😔
Saying that , I'm feeling OK this afternoon and have been able to do some jobs around the house and go for a short walk so I'm hoping its just my body perhaps adjusting to the progesterone. The bloating I've just accepted!

Hope your lines keep developing @ASGIRC and @orchid29 🤞

loulamay · 24/07/2023 13:02

Am sitting in Victoria Plaza emailing my UK GP to try and get them to replicate the South African prescription because nowhere will accept it as a printed document rather than a wet ink one. Leave for the airport in about 2 hours.
Nothing like a bit of drama for a Monday. I'm actually a PA for work so luckily am kind of used to last-minute travel changes etc etc so feeling fine about it all but slightly irked that the pharmacist in Boots was SO unhelpful and almost to the point of rude. People!!!! 😡

loulamay · 24/07/2023 13:04

@Walker12 oh gosh, I didn't mean to suggest it would have any bearing on the outcome! - as my Dr told me with the last failed transfer, the embryo implantation happens on a microscopic level and external illness/stress has very little impact at all. Basically, if it's going to happen, it will happen regardless. So here's to your sticky babe!

TheBirdintheCave · 24/07/2023 13:10

@ttcsolomumtobe It's fine, as I keep saying I have no doubts that this is a chemical and I know there's nothing I can do about it. I won't be testing any more (bar tomorrow as the clinic asked us to) and just want to get moving with the next transfer now.

Walker12 · 24/07/2023 13:21

@loulamay oh no don't worry I know you didn't, its just been a worry that's crossed my mind as I had it in my head I wanted to be in peak health for all of this and didn't expect to feel so rough. Thank you, I find it really reassuring to remember that the embryo will stick if its going to!
You sound so calm and proactive about the whole prescription palava, really hope its sorted for you ASAP.
@TheBirdintheCave I hope you get some closure soon either way ❤️

loulamay · 24/07/2023 13:40

Can I ask about IVF medication in the UK? Do you get a prescription from your clinic and get meds from a pharmacy? Or do you just pay for meds through the clinic?

TheBirdintheCave · 24/07/2023 13:54

@loulamay At my clinic we pay at the clinic then pick up the prescription from a pharmacy.

Bristol1988 · 24/07/2023 14:11

Transfer done this morning - one in, two in the freezer and they’re giving the remaining two an extra day to see if they catch up.

@loulamay pretty sure you can do it either way, I paid through the clinic and they were delivered to me. But a couple in front of me were picking up their prescription to take it to their own pharmacy.

loulamay · 24/07/2023 14:13

thanks @Bristol1988 - so great to have frosties!

So here's my question - on the NHS you can pay that annual subscription thing if you have a lot of regular medication and it's just a flat amount every month. What's to stop you putting through your IVF meds on that and paying way less?

Bristol1988 · 24/07/2023 14:16

@loulamay ummm, it might be different because it’s a private prescription? I’m private - not sure if it would be different if you were having treatment through the nhs and could get away with it.

Ivfround1 · 24/07/2023 14:18

@ASGIRC that’s so great that anything is starting to appear. That’s how mine was yesterday and this morning you can absolutely see a line. Still faint but getting darker. Fingers crossed for you!

@TheBirdintheCave I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Hoping you’re one of the positive outcomes of stories I’ve read about beating the fading line.

Lauralozzle · 24/07/2023 14:18

I’ll catch up properly later. Back from egg collection, they got 8 eggs in total.

That’s exactly the same as last time. All from left ovary.

Now here’s hoping the proxeed we’ve been taking, the AOA and the zymot has worked and we get more than 2 fertilised eggs!

ASGIRC · 24/07/2023 14:26

@Ivfround1 I tried taking a pic of mine, but I dont think the line photographs well..

And again! Might be an evap line, even though the 1st one, of the same batch, has none!

loulamay · 24/07/2023 14:29

I can totally see lines on both @ASGIRC and @Ivfround1 😄

Great news @Lauralozzle , hope you're feeling ok!

TheBirdintheCave · 24/07/2023 14:29

@ASGIRC That's definitely a positive :D I'm excited for you!

Congrats @Bristol1988 and @Lauralozzle :D

ASGIRC · 24/07/2023 14:41

Thanks @loulamay and @TheBirdintheCave . The lines are definitely there, but it might be an evap!!! So Im trying not to get too carried away!
Thinking I might test again before going to work... and watch it like a hawk!

@Lauralozzle congrats!!! 8 is not bad at all!! Fingers crossed they fertilise and develop!

TheBirdintheCave · 24/07/2023 14:58

@Ivfround1 I've not read any stories that ended well with fading lines. They've all been chemicals, later miscarriages or ectopics.

Maybemumma · 24/07/2023 15:39

Hi everyone! I’m hoping for a bit of reassurance.

My history: had 4 rounds of ivf. 3rd we found out at 10 weeks that I’d had a missed miscarriage.

Today I am now 9dp5dt and we’re getting strong bfp lines but to me, todays line doesn’t look any stronger than yesterday. What do you think? Should I worry?

Also wondering if it’s possible to request repeated hcg tests from my doctor to try and calm my (off the scale) anxiety.

thank you 😊

IVFfirsttimer91 · 24/07/2023 15:46

hi @Maybemumma, those lines look fab! And by looking at them I’m not sure they could get any stronger!! I’d def not be worried with those.

I had a repeated hcg test through my clinic to ensure that this pregnancy was progressing as it should. Ask your clinic and see what they say :). I’m in two minds about asking for a 3rd to just make sure I’m still on track, as it was this time last cycle we found out that the pregnancy had stopped developing. I’m sure my clinic would do that if I wanted, so I don’t doubt yours would too :)

Maybemumma · 24/07/2023 15:53

@IVFfirsttimer91 thank you so much! I think once you’ve experienced a loss it just gives you so much more to worry about doesn’t it?! I just wish I could be excited and carefree like everyone around us!

so grateful for your reply. It’s it’d on Wednesday (I have no self control so have been testing early) so I’ll ask them if it’s a possibility. Thank you again 😊
