Hello!

Just wanted to start a thread and see if anyone was going ahead with a transfer in July.

I've just had my nurse consult and hoping to have my second FET in July (my first was successful in Jan 2021 and I had my wonderful DD).

The first time around I was of course beyond nervous, excited, terrified it wouldn't work etc. This time it feels like that's doubled! I'm a private patient so I've saved everything for this but should it fail, it'll be a long long time before I could afford to try again.

To add some nerves, I'd need to be cycle day one no later than the 6th July to go ahead, as my clinic is moving locations. I'm currently due on the 5th...! So every chance it's moved to a Sept cycle.

Would be nice to have some company!

:)

@Ivfround1 hahah same due date for me, according to the online calculators!!!
I did my transfer on Wednesday!
I am unsure yet... The likelyhood of a positive tomorrow is slim... So might hold off until tuesday... But Ill see how I feel tomorrow! I have 8 tests left, so Im not having to save them.

I was just saying how I think an OTD of 9dpt seems a bit early, since so many seem to not get a positive before then!!
The doctor who performed the transfer told me that if I dont have positives from Wednesday, that Im not pregnant, so that put the pressure on!!!

I keep having slight nausea... Its too early for it to be a symptom, so Im thinking it must just be my mind playing tricks on me.

Walker12 · 24/07/2023 09:36

Hey all.. Did anyone feel really rough after their transfer? I already felt bloated and was experiencing cramps before transfer but today I woke up at 5 today with diarrhoea, headache and hot flush. Feeling much better now but still sore, weak and a bit headachey. And the bloating of course!! All of these symptoms are listed on my what to expect info sheet but I just wasn't expecting to feel this bad! I haven't got a tenperature or any significant pain, just so uncomfortable. I have a few days off work thankfully but I would have had to ring in sick today if I wasn't off. Feeling a bit sorry for myself.

loulamay · 24/07/2023 09:40

Well, journey to South Africa didn't quite go as planned. We live in the Lake District and I got as far as Lancaster before my train to London got cancelled because of flooding on the line... Cue me on the phone trying to change flights to this evening whilst booking a London hotel and rearranging trains down. Finally made it last evening and fly out tonight instead. Now I have to find a pharmacy that will give me more Estradiol using a SA prescription because I only had enough to get me there....!

Jaws - a very warm welcome to this group. Delighted you could be here.

My firstborn child attached below... soppiest scaredy cat known to man, despite being 38kg and having a bark that is so deep haha.

Oh @loulamay that sounds so stressful for you! Good luck with the pharmacy. Hopefully it all goes a bit more smoothly for you from this point.
Ah what a beautiful dog 🥰 pets are such a comfort aren't they!

orchid29 · 24/07/2023 09:59

hi everyone, i took a bit of a break from obsessing and somehow was able to forget about it for a day or two over the weeks . Now back to obsessing!

@TheBirdintheCave i understand where you are coming from but i can imagine that the concentration in your urine changes so much depending on how much you drink. I’ve tried to do the math given where your blood tests are supposed to be and it must be a fraction. have you checked if you can do a beta somewhere at a pharmacy? You don’t need to do it at your clinic.

orchid29 · 24/07/2023 10:03

@Walker12 that sounds a bit more than i had even the previous time - and i had a super painful transfer that took nearly an hour. Maybe check in with you clinic? there are also bugs going around so maybe you caught one of those?

Walker12 · 24/07/2023 10:27

Hi @orchid29, totally understand needing a break from it, sorry ive forgotten but where abouts are you in the process now?
Thank you yes I do feel like it's a bit much but I have nothing to compare it to. I rang the clinic the day before my transfer as I was feeling bad then but they said it sounded normal. Will definitely call them back if it doesn't improve and get some advice, keeping an eye on my temp too. I basically feel really hungover!! 😕

TheBirdintheCave · 24/07/2023 10:37

@orchid29 It's 100% a chemical though I'm having a hard time getting anyone to believe me 😂My clinic said if I still have a positive test tomorrow (however faint) to report it as a positive which I just think is baffling when it's obviously fading away. They offered me a beta test but I don't see much point in it now and it would cost me £40 to go in for the two tests. They also suggested the positive could still be because of the trigger shot despite me telling them it had been getting darker 🤔

IVFfirsttimer91 · 24/07/2023 10:46

@TheBirdintheCave surely you’d want the closure from the beta test? That way you will know 100% either way. £40 is great value too.

TheBirdintheCave · 24/07/2023 11:06

@IVFfirsttimer91 With fading tests there's no conclusion I can draw other than chemical really. If my test tomorrow is the same shade of blue as the other day then maybe it might be worth it but otherwise it's just a waste of money and time as I live so far away from the clinic.

@Walker12 sorry you feel this rubbish! From my experience on both my transfers, I felt fine afterwards, maybe a little stomach pain on the first one but the second one I didn't feel any different! Definitely monitor your symptoms closely. Hope you feel better soon!

wtawtaw · 24/07/2023 11:18

@TheBirdintheCave I would definitely get the test done for £40, that's cheap! At least that gives you the closure you need, should it go that way

wtawtaw · 24/07/2023 11:19

@loulamay what a beautiful dog! Oh and you live in my favourite park of the UK 😍
Sounds like a nightmare for you though, I hope it works out. Do you mind me asking why you are going to SA for ivf?

loulamay · 24/07/2023 11:39

@wtawtaw - he LOVES it up here. So many bunnies to chase in our field 😂

We used to live in Cape Town and that's where we started our IVF journey. We left when I was 13 weeks pregnant (fourth transfer, several miscarriages, one chemical and one D&C previously 😓) and relocated to the UK (I'm British, my husband is South African/Australian).

We had two frosties in the freezer and I looked at the cost of flying them to the UK. £6000!!!!!!!! So it was cheaper to fly back and have the transfers there. I did one in March that didn't stick so this is our last frostie before looking at other options.

@loulamay oooohh nice!! You've had a rough journey with the miscarriages etc - sorry to hear that 😔 was the pregnancy at 13 weeks successful in the end? I really wish you all the best for your last frostie!!! Do you know the grade of it?

TheBirdintheCave · 24/07/2023 11:47

@loulamay I love the Lakes. We're going home to Liverpool to visit my mum and dad this weekend and will be taking my son up there for the first time to see the World of Beatrix Potter as he is obsessed with everything Peter Rabbit.

@wtawtaw The clinic is over an hour away and I can't be bothered putting myself through the stress of getting there and back twice for no reason. I know it's a chemical a blood test won't change that at this point.

loulamay · 24/07/2023 11:55

@wtawtaw - thank you. IVF is quite the rollercoaster isn't it? we also relocated when the UK was on the COVID red list still and had to spend 10 days in Uganda and leave the dog in kennels in SA so he could be flown over in time for us to land. Yikes! Our daughter is now almost 2 though, which gives me the hope and motivation to carry on trying.

Both frosties were grade 4BB - no reason for the first one not to stick other than statistics so the only thing we're doing differently is more progesterone this time.

@Walker12 I also felt super super rubbish. Are you doing a fresh transfer? I went ahead with mine even though I felt awful and in hindsight, I wish I hadn't.

@TheBirdintheCave Peter Rabbit is the greatest! hope you have some clarify before you go so you can at least enjoy the weekend.

@Olivia199 @ASGIRC have you tested today?!?!

Caroline2023 · 24/07/2023 12:19

@loulamay gosh that sounds stressful, you poor thing!

@TheBirdintheCave sorry to hear it’s been such a stressful time for you. I’ve got everything crossed for you

@Walker12 @ASGIRC thinking of you in the waiting game 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I’ve had my first stimulation monitoring scan this morning (CD4). 1 ovary is proving slower and hasn’t really responded yet and then with the other I’ve got 2 follicles that are already 12mm which is bigger than expected this early. They’re keeping me on the same dose of stims for now and next scan in 2 days- I’m really hoping some other follicles start catching up as it’s made me feel a bit anxious!

ASGIRC · 24/07/2023 12:22

@loulamay I HAVE tested today... And there is a faint line. Very faint. And I dont know if its an evap line, cause I didnt necessarily see it at the right time. Basically, I took the test, saw the control line show up, then went to shower, as I couldnt see another obvious line.

As I left the shower and looked again, there was the faintest line. Last nights test also has a line. The trigger test one does NOT have a line.

But since I didnt see it in the correct time, Im not gonna worry too much about it. Might test tonight when I get home from work, or only tomorrow, and pay more attention!

I also dont have an indication of exactly how long the tests are valid for, as I dont have the box or leaflet... and the instructions on the back dont say times.

So Im not getting carried away!

@Walker12 Im sorry youre feeling rubbish! I has zero symptoms after the transfer. I had taken a Valium, as per the clinics recc, so zero cramping during/after.
Ive only been having what can only be described as trapped gas on my left side. And some slight nausea in the evening.

loulamay · 24/07/2023 12:25

@ASGIRC ooooh I'll get carried away for you! that sounds very exciting! What sensitivity are the tests? I think most are valid for about 3-5 mins?

ASGIRC · 24/07/2023 12:25

@Caroline2023 2 12mm follicles at d4 seems really good! I didnt do stims, as I didnt use my eggs, but I did my transfer on a natural cycle, and by day 9 I had NO follicle. So Id say youre in the right path!!!

Fingers crossed it continues to evolve positively!

@TheBirdintheCave Im sorry youre feeling so defeated. If it was me, I would need the closure of the betas. But you have to decide what is best for you.

ASGIRC · 24/07/2023 12:27

@loulamay theyre 10mIU ones. But the cheapy strip ones. So I take that with a grain of salt!
It was definitely longer than 5 minutes when I looked and noticed the faint line, so until proof otherwise, Ill take it as evap line. However, I only looked at the test for like 30 seconds after the control line showed up, so I cant say either way!

TheBirdintheCave · 24/07/2023 12:33

@ASGIRC Eek a line! :D If it's the Easy@Home ones they don't tend to have evaps in my experience (though the dye levels can be a bit shit as proven haha). I've never had a line on one and not been pregnant before.

TheBirdintheCave · 24/07/2023 12:34

@ASGIRC They also take 10 minutes to fully develop despite what it says on the box.

ASGIRC · 24/07/2023 12:35

@TheBirdintheCave its not easy@home, it is One Step? i think... I bought them off someone on another board, as she had spares after her pregnancy!
