IVF February 2023

HJen22 · 11/01/2023 14:06

Haven't seen a thread for February cycles so if anyone is waiting to start in the next few weeks and fancies some cycle buddies ❤️

Little about me, 34yo TCC #1. Low AFC/AMH. After two disastrous NHS cycles (NE Scotland) which resulted in no transfer, we went private and are away to start our second mild IVF cycle at Create in Manchester x

@LF82 happy delivery day! When are you due to start?

@THISISIT23 Welcome! And best of luck with stims! ✨

THISISIT23 · 20/01/2023 13:04

Can anyone advise from your period starting how many days do you have to start the injections? Having few problems with the care we are under and feel like I’m being constantly fobbed off we’ve already missed two rounds due to theatres being shut so feeling very nervous! Xxx

It will depend on the protocol you are on, and it seems different clinics work slightly differently.
For me, on CD1 following down regulation I will call the clinic and book my baseline scan for around CD2-4, all being well I will start stims that evening.
So for me it will be within the first few days of my period.

HJen22 · 20/01/2023 13:20

@THISISIT23 yeah it seems to differ everywhere and really will depend on your specific protocol, but if you've received this via email it should state when to start stims? I've started stims on CD1 when I did NHS cycles with the first scan on CD9, but then started stims on CD2 with my private clinic and a scan on CD5. Really hope you can get through to your clinic asap x

Hello ladies, hope you don’t mind if I join!

I’m currently on my second day of Stims, after a very long down regulation (with two periods!) for just under 6 weeks.

Looking at egg collection/transfer early Feb.

Jupiteer · 20/01/2023 18:13

Hi all
@Carly05 I am not enjoying the 2 injections before work either 😳 I suppose it's good to get them over with first thing but I do dread them.
I went for my bloods and scan today and it was a bit confusing. According to the bloods the hormone level is normal so I was advised to stay on the same dose of menopur (150iu as they thought I was at risk of OHSS)
But then on my scan the follicles have not changed and are still less than 6mm. They mentioned the words 'slow responder'. I was just told to continue and go for another scan next week.
Thank you @HJen22 for your reassuring message not to be disappointed at the scan! It is hard not to feel a bit sad that it doesn't seem to be working as hoped but just need to keep my fingers crossed for a better result next week.
Has this happened to anyone else?

LF82 · 20/01/2023 21:28

@Sj2505 i am due to start next weekend. Getting nervous! Was shocked by how
much go delivered! Knew it would be a lot but wasn’t expecting how much I got.
@THISISIT23 welcome, hope you have got the answers you need. I am not much use as it’s my first round!
@Lauralozzle welcome hope all is going well
@HJen22 hope all is good with you, quick q as you are on mild too- are your injections in the evening? Trying to decide exactly when is best to take them x

HJen22 · 21/01/2023 08:42

@Lauralozzle welcome ❤️ how are you getting on? All the luck for this cycle!

@Jupiteer I'm sorry your scan left you confused and down. Sometimes it can be a slow start, or some bigger take the lead, everyone is different and sometimes a few more days of stims makes all the difference. In my first scan last cycle I had one follicle already at 17mm which was very strange, and we spent the rest of stims waiting for the others to catch up! Hopefully at your next scan there is some good growth.

@LF82 is your fridge now nicely stocked with all your meds? So I was told to do stims at night, between 6-9pm, we did them at 7pm. And then the cetrotide got added in in the morning. We did it at lunch time the first day because we had to do it after a scan but following on we did it in the AM. Xx

LF82 · 21/01/2023 08:53

@HJen22 my fridge is very full! We got told 6-9pm by the nurse too but on the paperwork that they sent it says 7-9pm so am going to contact the nurse to check. have you started taking them for this round yet? Happy weekend! X

HJen22 · 21/01/2023 08:58

@LF82 yeah I think mine was maybe the same so we went with 7pm. Not yet but my period could be coming soon, my knees sometimes get a bit sore on the lead up (very weird haha) and they are sore today. I'm on CD23 and my cycles tend to sometimes be quite short, they vary from anything from 24 days to 29 so could be any day xx

OP posts:
LF82 · 21/01/2023 09:19

@HJen22 this is the one time we are both wishing our periods to start! Oh that is wierd about your knees but at least you know it’s on its way haha! I always get twinges a good week before I am due which I have today which should mean all is on course for next weekend x

Carly05 · 21/01/2023 09:25

Morning jupiteer. Remember you are very early days, only 5 days of stims so perhaps the scan was fairly typical , especially as your not on a massive dose of menopur. As Jen22 said, by next week things could look very different 🤞🤞🤞. When is Ur next scan? I have my first one monday.
Hi to all the people starting / about to start their meds.... Seeing a fridge full of medication does suddenly make it v real !! Good luck everyone xxx

Lauralozzle · 21/01/2023 10:08

@LF82 @HJen22 Thank you.

I’m getting on okay. The stims must be doing something because I feel much more myself. I didn’t realise I was feeling off just on the buserelin, but I have a little more energy now which is good! The nurse said people generally feel better once they start taking stims after down regulation.

This is my first round, so it’s all new to me! It’s taken such a long time to get here though! After 3.5 years TTC, I’m just glad I’m finally at a point where something might work!

Jupiteer · 21/01/2023 11:40

Congratulations to everyone starting stims this week! It feels so good to finally get started after all the years of waiting 🙂
Thank you for all the support re: my slow growing follicles! I had a deep dive into these forums and seems this has happened to others and they caught up... So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I read drinking milk and eating more protein can help. Not sure if true but can't harm so I'm going to try over the next few days before next scan on tue.
@Carly05 how did you get on with fyremadel? It is a stinger but I have the same with menopur so I think I'm just a softie.

Carly05 · 21/01/2023 20:50

Hi jupiteer! Fyremadel was ok going in but stingy and itchy after taking needle out for about 10 mins. Came up in nice red lump too. Menopur is bit stingy on the way in. Are u injecting in the tummy or thigh? Tried Fyremadel in thigh this morning , felt better than tummy.

Jupiteer · 22/01/2023 15:38

Hi @Carly05 I get a big red lump from it too ☹️
I am doing one in the belly and one in the thigh per day. I find belly is a bit better for me probably as it's where I have the most fat. I used an ice cube on the skin before injecting today and it was a bit better so will do this again.
Good luck for tomorrow's scan and let us know how it goes!
I've had some headaches and mild cramping this weekend. I am hoping this means the drugs have kicked in. We will see on tue.

Jayjay08 · 22/01/2023 15:55

Hi,
I am currently in the process of IVF. I started IuI last June and have since had many failed attempts. I am on 150 gonal f and morning cetrotide. Friday was day 7 of medication. I had 3 large follicles, 14,15,16 and 20+ follicles under 10 and a lining of 13mm. Basically on Friday they told me we might have to let the big follicles over mature to let more smaller ones grow.

However, I’m feeling really really bad. Like mentally unstable. I’m angry one minute (to the point where my co workers feel I am having a mental break down) and crying the next. I sit doing nothing and my heart is pounding out of my chest and I’m physically shaking. I can’t sleep because my heart is pounding. I have never had this before and everything is extremely out of character for me I just can’t control my emotions.

i was on 75gonal f for my iuis the last 7 months and this is the first month I felt like this - with taking 150 gonal f.

is this normal?

Carly05 · 22/01/2023 19:52

Hi jupiteer. Sounds like iv had some similar symptoms to u. Some cramping and headaches.. so hopefully it means something is happening for us!!🤞🤞 For our scans . Ah the ice cube is a good idea ,I'll try it. 👍.

Carly05 · 22/01/2023 19:56

Hi jayjay. Sorry to hear you are having such a bad experience with the medication. Have you spoken to the nurse about your symptoms? Perhaps they can advise some changes to the meds ? Xxx

Carly05 · 23/01/2023 12:13

Just had my scan only 3 follicles! 2 are of good size , 1 needs to do a little catching up. Lining is good ( grade a, whatever that means). Egg collection going ahead Friday. Anyone else only had 3 follicles and had success ?? 😳

LF82 · 23/01/2023 12:26

@Carly05 i haven’t had experience personally yet as only just about to start my first round but I know my clinic talks about quality and not quantity so I guess they must be happy to let you go to egg collection which has got to be a good sign! Got my fingers crossed for you 🤞
