My hubby and I are on day 4 of stims - our first IVF cycle. Just wondering if there's anyone else in the same boat who might want to share the journey? :)

@Koalie ahh time is ticking by so much. Are you finding out gender tomorrow??
aw its the best when tummy grows, starts feeling real. In a few weeks you will feel the first kicks which is totally magical.
I feel them every day now a lot at nearly 22 weeks. How are you feeling now?
Pelvic pain is so much better. Phsyio has definitely helped and coming off the progesterone!

Koalie · 27/06/2023 22:02

@Strawberry08 we’re going to get the gender in an envelope but wait until after our 20 weeks scan and get some reveal cupcakes or something ☺️ (I still feel like I’m jinxing it whenever I talk about future plans which is annoying 😒) so glad your pain is better ! I can’t wait to feel the kicks 🤭will let you know when I do! 😁 x

Strawberry08 · 01/07/2023 20:26

@Koalie AWWWW gorgeous!! How you can not open the envelope I do not know 🤣🤣🤣

Izzie94x · 03/07/2023 13:36

@Koalie im still patiently waiting!!!!🤣🤣

Koalie · 03/07/2023 14:01

@Izzie94x haha! You’ll be waiting a while. We’re not finding out until 28th July 😆I keep chopping and changing my mind. Obviously the number plate said boy but I’m starting to feel like it might be a girl 🤭
How are you both feeling? @Strawberry08
Two questions for you both:

  • When did you start feeling kicks? (With your first)
  • When did you start buying bits for the baby? xx

Strawberry08 · 03/07/2023 15:12

@Koalie both times about 19 weeks but really sporadic (and sometimes had to concentrate).
I am now 22 weeks and he is booting me all day 😂 in the bladder etc 😂 this started about a week ago. So I would say 19 weeks for first flutters with both pregnancies and 21 weeks for proper kicks that are unmistakeable and very frequent!
my husband felt one yesteday from the outside for the first time!

Koalie · 03/07/2023 15:29

@Strawberry08 thats amazing! I can’t wait ! Couple more weeks for me then it seems 🤭 x

Izzie94x · 03/07/2023 16:40

@Koalie i think girl from your scan!!🙈 but then again, I thought girl for @Strawberry08 😂 you honestly have patience of steel, I couldn’t do it! I’d have to peak hahahahha!!

Do you have a posterior placenta? I do! And I absolutely felt bubbling sensations from about 17 weeks (super early but also could have been wind maybe lol) then I felt definite movement from about 19 weeks too!! But again, would be so sporadic I’d worry so much when I didn’t feel him😩 the joys of mum life!!! Now he’s NON stop, and some days I think he’s trying to escape my belly HAHHAHAAH xxx

Hi all, I'm completely brand new to this, considering going private to start our IVF journey. I relocated to Cumbria in December and I'm in the 22nd week of waiting for an appointment with the fertility team at my local hospital. I called again today to be advised the average wait time is 40-50 weeks so still got a bit of a wait just for a very first appointment, not even with IVF as the reason for the meeting at this point as the referral was made when I was still taking Letrozole for ovulation stimulation. Does anyone have any experience with wait times for the actual IVF treatment on the NHS? I will apologise in advance I will have lots of questions. Many thanks for reading. Ever hopeful ☺️

Koalie · 03/07/2023 19:22

@Izzie94x Haha! I really don’t feel any strong urge to look at all, I think maybe I’m just used to the waiting now. Or maybe I’m too scared to know, I’m always worried about jinxing it 😔

Yes, I have a posterior placenta so fingers crossed I feel something soon … I am likely to be worrying as soon as I do and then don’t lol.

Hi @JennyF84
I only had a wait of a couple of months but this is purely because I really asked lots of questions to understand the process, and then made sure I was calling the right people and asked to be put on cancellations lists wherever I could (then you have to make sure you always have you phone on loud and with you so you don’t miss their calls back!) It can get really complicated and stressful. It was difficult for me right at the start because my GP was putting the referral through wrong in the first place and I basically had to find out how they had to do it and explain it to them to make sure it was reaching the right person 🤦🏻‍♀️ it’s madness and I spent so much time crying down the phone. If you can befriend the right people and be persistent, it should pay off. Hope you get lucky soon, it’s such a horrendous thing to have to wait for 🫶🏼 x

@Koalie Thanks for your reply, sounds like you went through alot to get seen within a couple of months.

Koalie · 08/07/2023 09:56

@Izzie94x @Strawberry08
Girls, I am definitely feeling kicks ! I’ve been feeling something for a few days but wasn’t sure whether it was but this morning I feel like it’s unmistakable. Like random pulses, like when you have a twitchy eye lid 😂 excited for them to get bigger now 🤭 18 weeks tomorrow x

OP posts:
Izzie94x · 09/07/2023 15:50

@Koalie omg yes that’s such a good way to describe it! Like a twitchy eye 🥹😂 I definitely had that! Ahhhhh, best feeling ever. And it’s going to get even better as they grow bigger💓 I’m still convinced little girly hehehe!!

We had a 4D scan yesterday and the pictures are soooo cute! I know not everyone likes 4D, it is a little weird hahah but we loved it! I’ll upload one of the pics💙 we think he’s going to be a mini of his dad!!

Koalie · 09/07/2023 17:45

@Izzie94x awwww bootiful boy! Have you decided on a name yet? Xx

OP posts:
Strawberry08 · 09/07/2023 18:59

@JennyF84 hey! Welcome. I don’t have any experience with wait times I’m afraid as we went private. Whilst you are waiting, take a look at impryl. It’s a vitamin for egg and sperm quality that our clinic recommended. It took my husbands sperm parameters from practically infertile and to normal and is great for egg quality. Just helps to maximise chances in your kitchen round!

@Koalie awwww that definitely is kicks, that’s exactly how it feels to start with! Enjoy them, when you get 30+ weeks it’s painful boots to the ribs 🤣
most magical thing!! How are you feeling??

@Izzie94x AWW!! So cute - beautiful boy. I bet it feels really real now. You must be in third tri? Have you thought about birth plan?

JennyF84 · 09/07/2023 19:10

Hey @Strawberry08 thank you for your post, since originally posting we've actually took the plunge and made an appointment at a private clinic, 2 weeks on Thursday, I'm very excited and a little anxious x

Strawberry08 · 09/07/2023 19:48

@JennyF84 oh that’s so exciting!! That’s what I would’ve done too in your position. I bet you can’t wait to start the journey

JennyF84 · 09/07/2023 20:06

@Strawberry08 I am really excited to get going for sure. Did you have success with IVF?

Koalie · 09/07/2023 20:07

@Strawberry08 @JennyF84 I second that re the impryl !! My hubby and I both took it for 3 months prior to starting IVF and we ended up with a great result 😊 x

OP posts:
Strawberry08 · 09/07/2023 20:23

@JennyF84 yes I was very lucky and got pregnant on my first round. I did IVF with ICSI.

@Koalie ah amazing! I was really skeptical but thought well, may as well give it a go but the semen analysis results 3 months apart speak for themselves!! Quite amazing

JennyF84 · 09/07/2023 20:28

@Strawberry08 @Koalie I'm really surprised that the whole process only takes like 6 to 9 weeks.

Koalie · 09/07/2023 21:51

@JennyF84 it was longer for me because I developed OHSS and had to freeze all of our embryos. We had success with our first FET though 🫶🏼

@JennyF84 hi lovely! Sorry I missed your comments when replying. How are you feeling? Ahhhh I remember going for our first consultation in October and we started down regulation in the november, injections December and pregnant by January 🥹🤍 it’s a whirlwind. We were very very lucky and ICSI worked for us first time, I’m sure I’d feel very differently if not. But try and enjoy the process as much as possible to making your little miracle!!!

@Koalie I’m pretty set on Jasper!! We loved so many unusual names but as we’re having very traditional middle names I’m just not sure it went 😅 eeeek, it’s feeling so real now after the 4D scan. How you feeling? Your gender reveal is the same date as my baby shower eeee!!!

@Strawberry08 how you feeling lovely? Honestly it’s made it feel 10 x more real and now all I want is him here🥹💙 but I’m also enjoying cooking him up haha!! Third tri!! I’m 29+1 and feeling very huge now. Sick of everyone’s comments on how big my bump is but then they say “you’re so skinny elsewhere just a huge huge bump he’ll be a big boy” 🙄lol!! No real birth plan, I’m worried if I plan it won’t go to plan!🤣 I love the idea of the pool if I can, and we’re going with midwife led unit! How about you?

10 weeks and 6 days till due date for me now ladies 💙 xx
