First cycle - IVF / ICSI - Day 4

My hubby and I are on day 4 of stims - our first IVF cycle. Just wondering if there's anyone else in the same boat who might want to share the journey? :)

@Shm93 ahhh good luck lovely!! How are you feeling? To be honest, I tried eating healthier (not that I ate bad anyway!) but we started our injections on 23/12 - just in time for Xmas 😂 so I can confirm I didn’t eat well!!!! And I also had 1 glass of Prosecco to celebrate Christmas. Definitely listen to your body- it’s so good at letting you know what you need. How are your injections going? I do remember once I hit my egg collection I did all the old wives tails!! McDonald’s fries, lots of protein, whole milk, 2 brazil nuts a day, pomegranate juice and pineapple core!! Oh and keeping them tootsies warm🥰
norethisterone I believe is usually used to induce a period? (I think - I could be wrong!) but usually before you start your injection so you can get rid of your lining. Have you managed to get hold of the clinic?

@Strawberry08 im good thank you my lovely, how’s you and little buba?😊 ahhh finally at the 12 week mark. So amazing! How did telling your family go? Eeeek! I bet it still doesn’t feel real does it!? Hahaha!!

I’m 18+3 and almost HALF WAY! Whaaaat! Lots of fluttering going on this week which is amazing. And I’m officially waking up with a bump! Ahhh just so in love. Trying to enjoy every single moment of growing our gorgeous little boy. My Inlaws gave us £600 towards a travel system which is amazing, so we’re super organised and already bought the one we wanted! Now it’s at my parents hehe eeeeek! I feel so organised but maybe that’s just because I’ve been dreaming of this my entire life - and first baby🤣 xx

@Shm93 welcome ! 😊 so pleased you’ve enjoyed reading our babbling forum 😆.. the girls have responded as I would have re the food. With regards to the Norethisterone, I had to take that to DELAY my period around Christmas time to get me on the clinic’s schedule (so that my period and stims didn’t start whilst they were closed.) Did you manage to get any clarification on that?

@Izzie94x that’s so lovely to hear how happy you are and getting all your bits bought. Are you leaving your pram at your parent’s because of the superstition around keeping it at your house? I only heard about that for the first time the other day! 😆I can’t wait to be at that stage but I’m still very much in the trenches of the first trimester nausea and can’t seem to focus on anything else right now, I don’t even feel like I’m pregnant, just really bloody sick all the time. I took some anti sickness meds on Monday that I got from the clinic and they made me feel progressively worse throughout the day until I was actually throwing up and couldn’t keep any food or drink down. Feeling a bit more human now but the nausea is still there and I’m really struggling with it 😔 I feel like such a wimp and I really wish It would go away so that I can focus on being grateful and excited that I’m pregnant.

We also had a real big scare on Thursday night, as I was brushing my teeth and had a big gush of blood 🥺 … managed to get the clinic to bring my scan forward to Friday morning (I was 6+5) and baby was there chilling with a lovely heartbeat. I have a subchorionic hematoma that covers 50% of the gestational sac. The clinic are hopeful that it was resolve itself and have discharged me so I’m just waiting for my first midwife appointment now. I have read online that hematomas can increase the risk of miscarriage (which is the last thing I need considering I’m already high risk after having two already.) maybe it’s a good thing that this nausea is taking my focus away from the pregnancy, otherwise I’d probably be worrying more about the hematoma.

@Strawberry08 how are you doing now that you’re out of the first trimester? Has your nausea gone? & how was it telling your friends and family? 🥰

@Izzie94x I’m all good thank you! I got pelvic girdle pain (sounds so attractive lol) with my last and I’ve got it again now so early and I’m in so much pain so that’s not great but otherwise feeling good. Nausea has started to wear off.
Awww yay the movement is the best!! So exciting about the pram, that was my first purchase too. What did you go for?

@Koalie oh blimey!!! That’s terrifying. Poor you, so just not what you needed, BUT the most beautiful news that everything looks great. Take it really really steady. Can’t be too careful when you have the possibility of more bleeding.
Nausea definitely wearing off. Telling my friends and family was the best! I don’t think anyone really expected it because of what we went through to get my last little one. I think people maybe assumed we would call it a day after one. So it was lovely to surprise everyone!

@Koalie oh my god, I hope you’re doing ok? I can’t even imagine how scary that was!!! 🥺 but I’m glad everything’s ok now although I’m sure it doesn’t take away from the worry everyday. I was such a mess throughout the first trimester. Without having any scares or previous losses. Always check in or come here if you need to get anything off your chest🤍 my private messages are always open too🥰 sending you all the love!!

and Yes!!! Pram at my parents because my friend told me not to leave it in the house and now I’m paranoid hahahah! We have got the foot muff and changing bag though🤣

@Strawberry08 oh my goodness me, that sounds just as bad as it probably is!!!! Is there anything they can do for that? Ugh how bloody horrible. What a way to ruin a pregnancy ey lol! Must completely rip the joy away😅 I’m having hip pain at night and that’s bad enough! I’m glad the nausea is going! Mine came back a little at 13 weeks then left and hasn’t returned YAY. But it’s been replaced with hideous heartburn 😂

I felt him literally after every meal yesterday ahhh, made me feel so giddy. We went for the Mamas and Papas Ocarro in Woven Grey - it’s soooo lovely. Such a nice colour and I love the woven too! We were so torn between that and a iCandy, but the iCandy price was a bit mouth watering. And we managed to get the mamas and papas bundle in the sale for around £900😅 I’ll upload a pic of it that we took in Next hehe. Eeee exciting xxx

@Izzie94x beautiful pram!! Everything for tiny little people is so expensive. My favourite bit last time was doing the room decoration and washing all the tiny clothes and putting them all away 😍

I am 13+3 and been having very mild cramps but more worryingly, bleeding when I wipe. It’s either pink or brown, no red blood but still so worrying. I had a scan yesterday and all is well but just such a worry!

@Strawberry08 oh no! Sorry to hear you’re having some scary bleeding. Maybe you have a subchorionic hematoma too? They’re really common in IVF pregnancies and some people go through pregnancy without even knowing it was there. That’s definitely reassuring that you’ve seen bubba all OK - the bleeding really could be anything so try not to worry 🫶🏼

I am still struggling through the nausea! It gets worse in the evening for some reason so I just go to bed early to escape it 😆

@Izzie94x your pram is 😍! I feel like it’s such a minefield with all the different options. Did you go for a 3 in 1 travel system or will you just have a car seat that doesn’t transfer to the pram? X

I decided to have a private scan yesterday because I wanted the reassurance that we had made it past where we did with our first pregnancy and baby was there all fine at 9 weeks with little stubby arms and legs, I couldn’t believe it 🤭measuring 8 weeks 5 days but he said that’s normal and could be on time or even ahead by the next scan. Were you ladies ever measuring a day or two behind? I’ll try and share a pic too ☺️ x

So sorry, I’ve had a busy couple of days working last week (shock, I work from home and usually spend my days naughtly online!!) and then it was bank hols weeekend. But DH had to work today as his workplace didn’t want to honour the special bank hols, so I’m BACK😂

@Strawberry08 how is everything lovely? Did the bleeding stop? I hope you’re ok!! That’s such a worry. I still check now every time I bloody wipe. So I can imagine how unsettling that’s been. But least everything is ok! Did you want to share your scan picture for a nub theory guess? 🤭 I’m 50/50 accurate Hahahha!!!

@Koalie ahhhh that’s amazing!!!! I’m SO happy for you🥹🤍 how bloody special. Aren’t the scans just amazing? I always came out on cloud 9!!!! I had my first scan at 7w6d and measured exact, but then at my dating scan I measured 3 different dates 😳😂 apparently it can really depend whether baby is scrunched up, or stretched out! And they do move around a lot! So I wouldn’t worry my lovely. Altho - I worry at everything 🥲😂

I’m all good thank you!! Feeling a little anxious over kicks, some days I feel loads, others he’s super quiet and it worries me. But apparently at 20 weeks that’s normal - but my head can’t quite grasp that😩 We’ve also been looking at names again, and we’ve got two we love, we’ve ditched Axel lol! (I’m not sure we’ll actually decide until he’s here!!) but we’re not set on either Jaxx or Jett 💙 x

@Izzie94x OK that makes me feel a little better, thank you ☺️ the scans are actually quite traumatic for me because of our history. When I turned up at the clinic yesterday and the receptionist asked my name I actually burst into tears it was quite embarrassing 😆 I haven’t been in that clinic since we were told our first baby didn’t have a heartbeat back in 2021 so it was obviously just really overwhelming - I’m not even a cryer usually 🫤 I did feel happy when we left though, it’s definitely given me the reassurance I need to make it to the 12 week scan! 🥰

ooooo I love both of those too! Jax was actually on our list once upon a time but I think hubby changed his mind on it. Another really unusual one we loved when we first started trying was Ozzy! But our surname begins with O and we decided we didn’t want to sound like we were trying to be like Ozzy Osbourne 😆 Jett is very cool too though 😎 x

@Koalie what a beautiful picture!! So amazing. Don’t worry about dates, it’s so normal to be dated 5 days either way. When everything is still small, days are mm so totally normal.

@Izzie94x kicks are really sporadic, I remember constantly worrying with my son for the same thing. I think gets a bit more predictable around 26 weeks. Okay here’s my pic.. guess away!

Bleeding stopped, I was checked and my cervix was the source as it was inflamed. Apparently hormones can cause that. Phew! I’m 14+1 and time is flying now which is lovely.

We had our 20 week scan yesterday and it was just perfect. He was a little naughty as always so we had to leave the room for lots of water and jiggling around - which happens every time!!! I’ll attach a photo of our happy healthy little man🥹💙 x

I’m feeling good thank you. Still waiting for my dating scan. Dealing much better with the nausea and an off for a weekend away with some girl friends which is very much needed 🥰

I had my first midwife appointment the other day. They’ve put me on consultant led care rather than midwife which I’m relieved about - did they do the same for you two ? I was told it was because we had IVF 🤷🏻‍♀️ x

I have booked a 16 week gender scan on Sunday, so exited to find out!

@Strawberry08 I’m so poorly 😭 got a stinking cold and feel like death! So scared it’s going to affect the baby 🥺I’m 10+4 today. Dating scan is booked for 1st June!

@Koalie ohhh no!!! Poor you. Lots of rest needed! Ah no you will be okay. I had covid twice when pregnant and had a horrendous bout of stomach bug and everything was okay.
I am 90% sure it’s another boy. So funny as I always imagined myself with girls but now all I can imagine is being a boy mum!

@Strawberry08 that is reassuring. Did you have covid in your first trimester? I think that’s what I’m most concerned about 🥺 cold is on it’s way out now and I’m 11 weeks today ☺️
