ICSI January 2023

Hello,

My partner and I need IVF due to MFI. We are hoping to start treatment in January 2023.

I had my fertility ultrasound scans today and these are my results:

AFC -

Left Ovary - 13 follicles
Right Ovary - 14 follicles

My Endo thickness was 7.3mm (cycle day 10).

I have no masses, cysts, fluid etc - everything looked smooth and normal.
How do these results seem?

I was also told I have a retroverted uterus - will this affect IVF?
Thank you

@User491 We weren’t told if we should use protection either! Although, chances of a miraculous conception after 3.5 years are low so even if they had told us not to, I don’t think I would have listened much!

I think AF is thinking about arriving, some spotting this evening which is good. Should be here tomorrow so I can call them to get my down regulation scan all booked in.

User491 · 18/12/2022 22:35

Haha yeh you're right, if it happened now I would be completely bamboozled! But I don't know if f they would ask us too anyways? Another question to ask now 😅

You might find you won't get a full one. Mine was only really 2 days!
I wasn't even asked if I had one or not, my next app was just scheduled, it maybe is because I started them earlier; but who knows 😂

Lauralozzle · 19/12/2022 11:46

@User491 I think I’m in the camp ‘period from hell’ with the buserelin! I usually only bleed heavily for 2 days though so fingers crossed by Wednesday it should be better.

Down regulation scan is booked for 29th. Fingers crossed the buserelin is working!!

User491 · 19/12/2022 15:07

@Lauralozzle ohh no poor you, I really hope it eases off for you 🤞🏻 someone told me since I raised the query about ibprofen, that you are actually ok to use codine - might give you a bit of relief?

User491 · 19/12/2022 15:08

Pleased the scans booked in, I'm hoping mines ok tomorrow 🤞🏻

Autumbreeze · 19/12/2022 16:14

Aw no @Lauralozzle I feel your pain! Mine was awful... and hopefully you guys won't have to deal with this... but the one after my failed attempt was even worse!! Hope you feel better soon! Good it's come though and now you can carry on with the next stage.

Good luck for the scans both! @User491 hope tomorrow goes ok.

Lauralozzle · 19/12/2022 17:20

@User491 I asked about cocodamol. Nurse said if I really need it, one or two shouldn’t hurt, but then advised paracetamol and a hot water bottle so I’m braving it with paracetamol alone.

I have my fingers, toes, arms and legs crossed for you for tomorrow’s scan.

@Autumbreeze Thanks. I’m glad it’s here, I’d rather feel like this than wonder when it’s going to arrive! At least I know this is a step closer!

Lauralozzle · 20/12/2022 22:38

@User491 Hope your scan went ok

User491 · 20/12/2022 22:46

@Lauralozzle @Autumbreeze so sorry just seen these now....

All went well thank you 😊 just a scan which showed everything was as it should be 🥰 so happy.. thank you for asking x

How are you both 😊

Autumbreeze · 21/12/2022 07:25

Good news @User491 what's the next steps for you now?

I'm good thank you. Period just finished... can't believe on the next one I'll be starting injections. My social media is currently full of new born babies and pregnancy announcements. It's very bitter sweet.

Lauralozzle · 21/12/2022 08:12

@User491 That’s Good News! Ready for next step now!

I’m feeling a bit better now. Cramps Monday and Tuesday were pretty bad but they’ve died off a bit now. That’s pretty usual for me so I think I’m over the worst of it.

I think I might be getting hot flushes from the buserelin. I wake up quite warm and a bit sweaty, a bit like I do when it’s very warm outside. But I go from that to cold pretty quick. Strange for winter. I suppose it could be my pjs though.

The tiredness is flooring me though. Finished work early yesterday, got home about 4:00pm. Had a lie down at about 4:30 and woke up at about 6:00pm. Felt loads better for it though!

Lauralozzle · 21/12/2022 08:22

@Autumbreeze Oh that’s good! getting closer! How long are your cycles usually?

Sometimes I hate social media and bloody algorithms. Because I’m on CARE fertility a lot and some IVF groups on Facebook every other add is for IVF, payment plans for IVF, babies from IVF, maternity wear etc. I’m just taking each step at a time, I don’t want to get too excited or too hopeful because I don’t know if my lining will be thin enough for stims, I don’t know how my body will react to stims, I don’t know if I’ll get any eggs, if they will fertilise, if I’ll get any embryos and if said embryos will implant and stay put. There’s so many things that can go wrong/not to plan, it’s all a bit daunting!

Still, my immediate focus is to get to Thursday as it’s my last day at work before I break up for Christmas 🤶 Then I’m off for ten days! Yay!

MsSandyToes · 21/12/2022 12:38

@Lauralozzle thank you, yes I think it's down regulation, I've had a big delivery of all the meds but don't really have a clue about what's what yet! 😅I'm starting Wednesday next week. I'm going to have to phone the clinic and ask for some guidance.

@Autumbreeze I have quite mixed feelings about it all. I'm hopeful but don't want to get my hopes up too much. The consultant said each time can be different so what was tested for the semen analysis was borderline and would've been ICSI and on the day it might be OK. I only have 7 follicles in total so I'm worried about if they'll get any eggs. I don't have any dates yet, they just said I'll go for the first scan on day 2/3 of my period.

@User491 Thank you, I'm so happy to have found you all, it will be awesome to speak to people who really get it and are going through it at the same time. Glad your scan went well.

We also weren't told about contraception for this month, but I guess it really would be a miracle if it just happened like that right now. I might take an FRER on 10DPO just to reassure myself as that will only have been 3 days of meds.

Due to my low AMH this has all been quite a whirlwind. We were told start now and so it's been a quick turnaround. It's all starting to feel real now.

My social media is also clogged with babies and adverts, the algorithms are so annoying aren't they!

Lauralozzle · 22/12/2022 15:19

@MsSandyToes the big box of meds is quite daunting I felt! mine is sat there all ominous looking in the dining room. We’ll have to hide it all for Christmas!

Other news - work is finished until January. Yay! 😁

Sj2505 · 22/12/2022 18:38

Evening ladies.
Great to hear everyone's doing well!
I had my 2nd treatment planning appointment yesterday and bloods today - so we're all set. Also received my medication invoice today!!
So our plan going forward is to wait for CD1 (nurse is working off a 34 day cycle, so predicted 3rd Jan) then call to arrange delivery of meds then start on CD21. She predicted egg collection for around 20th Feb but that's down to a very unpredictable AF.

I hope everyone's going to be able to enjoy Christmas whether you're active on treatment or waiting to start 🎅

Lauralozzle · 23/12/2022 12:51

@Sj2505 Glad you have a plan in place now! You’ll be starting before you know it!

I’m planning on very much enjoying Christmas but also trying to be sensible. We’ve just done most of our Christmas food shop. I’ve ended up buying some non alcoholic spirits and non alcoholic sparkling wine so that should avoid any questions being asked because I’ll sort out peoples drinks in another room! They’ll all be non the wiser!

Now to just relax today and tomorrow before the chaos starts Sunday 😂

User491 · 27/12/2022 09:32

Morning everyone.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

Crazy, all the prep and stress that goes into it, then it's over with before you know it 🤣

I'm back for a scan tomorrow, I hope everything's looking ok..
the stims so far have been fine but days 1-3 I was quite hormonal, but then I don't know if that's just the stims or Christmas stress aswell 🤣

Other than that I don't feel any different, which isn't a bad complaint haha!

Hope you are all ok, how are you getting on @Lauralozzle?

Lauralozzle · 27/12/2022 13:04

@User491 I’m good thank you, Christmas madness is over, so a relaxing day today.

I have ton of leftovers to use up, so turkey in some form will be on the menu for a while!

I’ve had a few horrible headaches. Not sure if that’s the meds or lack of water. The other day it was truly horrible! Just enjoying not being at work at the moment!

I’m glad stims is going well. Hopefully your scan goes well tomorrow! I’m in for down regulation scan Thursday.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas.

User491 · 27/12/2022 14:11

@Lauralozzle aww bless you, I did get headaches, but I got them a lot anyways. So could never really work out if it was normal for me or not ha!
Hope a rest day today does you the world of good though. I'm cleaning now and going to sit and watch a film I think 😊 quite possibly with some chocolate 🤣

There's no filling me these last couple of days. I don't know whether it's hormones or just greed 🙈🤣

Try get plenty water in, I'm trying to get loads in today too.

Hope your scan goes well too 🤞🏻

Lauralozzle · 28/12/2022 13:57

@User491 I have a 2 litre water bottle specifically to ensure I drink enough water (well squash as I don’t really like water on its own, I’m a bit strange!). I’ve not been great keeping up with it but managed 2 litres yesterday and I’m on track today. The headaches have eased off a bit now too which is good.

I hope your scan went well today.

User491 · 28/12/2022 14:57

I think I read somewhere that keeping hydrated can really help, hopefully it's that that's helping and you can manage to get it into you. I love water 🤣 I usually get 3 litres in a day, but struggled more with being off work.. I seem to forget to drink it 🙈

Scan was ok thank you, but things are a little behind so I have 2 extra days of the stims, so egg collection will be next Thursday now they think, She said it was quite normal for this to happen so that's good news 😊

Are you enjoying being off work?

Lauralozzle · 28/12/2022 16:22

@User491 Next Thursday will be here before you know it! I bet this happens all the time. How are you feeling on stims? Is it uncomfortable?

I’m very much enjoying being off work. It’s been nice to just relax and not do much, now that the madness is over. I’m not back until next Wednesday so still have some time off. It’s a pity about the weather as I’d have liked to get some nice walks done but in this weather the dog isn’t too impressed. He’s old and blind, so walks with the dog are limited to non rainy/not too windy days lol 😂 Hopefully it’ll clear up for a couple days before I’m back.

How about you? Are you back at work or off?

Autumbreeze · 28/12/2022 20:02

@User491 we were delayed for our first egg collection... it was first planned for a Monday and ended up on a Thursday so yes it is normal. Don't worry ☺️ glad all is going well for you. Exciting you have a date now!! Did you say you are having a fresh cycle all being well?

@Lauralozzlei love walking... we have two (very naughty) dogs so we enjoy a lot of walking for chill time. But I've been unwell over Christmas with this cold bug going around so not taken them out for a few days. Drinking the water is hard. I enjoy water but I struggle to drink that much.

User491 · 28/12/2022 20:19

@Lauralozzle I've been ok tbh, hormonal for 2 days, then back to normal, but last night I started with weird cramps and again tonight, there was still 7 follicles and lots of small ones, but they weren't up to size, if I have all these twinges etc now, I think I might feel quite full and twingy by next week 🤣

I'm the same, nice to chill a little now 🥰 my dogs are the same, well the older one doesn't like cold and wet, the other Will go out in anything 🤣 I do love a walk tho! I am back next Thursday but that's the new egg collection date provisionally 😬 can't be helped though ha, work will be fine about it!
Hope the weather calms down for you and you can enjoy it!

@Autumbreeze thank you for the reassurance 🥰 they will ring and tell me more info date wise tomorrow they said 🤞🏻it will be a fresh one all being well. I hope you are feeling a bit better? My husband has been poorly too since 20th, it's a nasty bug.. I've avoided it somehow so far!

User491 · 28/12/2022 20:20

Sorry through the 3rd also for a check up scan too I think tbc tomorrow first 🤞🏻
