ICSI January 2023

Infertilitylife · 27/11/2022 08:40

Hello,

My partner and I need IVF due to MFI. We are hoping to start treatment in January 2023.

I had my fertility ultrasound scans today and these are my results:

AFC -

Left Ovary - 13 follicles
Right Ovary - 14 follicles

My Endo thickness was 7.3mm (cycle day 10).

I have no masses, cysts, fluid etc - everything looked smooth and normal.
How do these results seem?

I was also told I have a retroverted uterus - will this affect IVF?
Thank you

@Sj2505 🤣 it's the only way to describe myself. I'm even rubbish at messaging people life just feels too hectic 🙈

Ours is open as we have an app on 20th 28th and 31st. Hopefully yours will be too, then your on Track for January 🥳

Lauralozzle · 12/12/2022 12:26

@Sj2505 So, should have my period either Wednesday/Thursday if it comes on time. Boobs are really sore at the moment, I’ll know AF is due when they let up! Hopefully it’ll be here on time. Once period is here, I’ve got to call them and then they’ll book me in for a scan/blood tests about 7 days later to confirm down regulation. Then I can start stims if it’s all ok. Still such a long way to go.

Im actually really tired today, so maybe I am getting some side effects but it’s difficult to know if it’s that or my thyroid.

Im still quite excited for Christmas! I was googling alcohol free spirits all last night. I’m hosting on Boxing Day so hopefully family won’t be able to tell I’m not drinking lol. I would normally be drinking a lot haha!

Autumbreeze · 12/12/2022 15:28

@Sj2505 aw I'm slide to start around the 17th Jan if period is on time, but we are doing short protocol this time around... also different meds so potential could feel different on these... I hope not though.

@Lauralozzle and @User491 exciting times for you both!! So glad your both enjoying your journeys. I enjoy alcohol free kopperberg and it tastes the same more or less.

OH is sort of dreading second round but I'm really looking forward to it now. I think it was just tough the last time and men always see things differently. He said he's looking forward to stabbing me again and won't be worried this time! Gee thanks.
We've had snow here over the weekend and I'm praying for no more it we will struggling to get to our appointment on the 4th Jan.

90sarah · 12/12/2022 17:15

@Sj2505 Thanks you. We ended up with 5 frozen blasts as we got three more the day after! FET should be around the middle of January. I'm desperate to get xmas out the way now so we can start preparing for it.

Good luck for Tuesday I hope it goes really well for you both! Keep us updated woth how you get on. 🙂

Lauralozzle · 13/12/2022 06:58

@Autumbreeze Might have to give alcohol free kopperburg a try.

I’m sure when your treatment starts your OH will dread this next round less. We had the most pathetic amount of snow, but I know what you mean, I hope we don’t get any because I hate driving in the snow!

@90sarah That sounds like a great number of blasts!

Autumbreeze · 13/12/2022 07:31

@90sarah that's amazing!!!! How you feeling? Mid-Jan will fly here now! The waiting is awful isn't it? I remember waiting for that call the next day! They called early at 8am which I was glad of! Every update I was on pins!

@Lauralozzle yes it's winner and if you put it in a glass no one will know the difference. We still have snow in the ground, although it's turned to mostly ice now. It best stay away... No more snow please 😂

Sj2505 · 13/12/2022 09:32

I like alcohol free Koppaberg too! Would definitely be my go to.

@User491 ours closing to deep clean the labs, but I'm hoping it might just be the labs they close and I might be able to start the meds/scans.

@Lauralozzle it is a long journey isn't it, but I think because there's so many little appointments along the way it breaks it up. FX for AF on time!

@Autumbreeze ah ok, so we won't be in sync then haha. Atleast we're all roughly around the same time so we can all support each other.

@90sarah that's amazing!! Do you know if they're transferring one or two?

I'm sat in the clinic, DH has been called through so I'm just waiting for him. He has sent me a very fetching picture of him in the gown though haha!
I will update you all soon 🤩

Autumbreeze · 13/12/2022 12:34

@Sj2505 hope today went ok? Been thinking about you! It's a tough enough journey as it is without all this for you to. Yeah we won't be two far apart, a week or two.

Sj2505 · 13/12/2022 12:43

@Autumbreeze thank you, means a lot!

We've just got home, DH is absolutely fine apart from numb and swollen.. he keeps saying he's got an itch but can't find it because it's all numb 😂

So we've got thousands/millions of sperm 😁😁😁
The consultant said easily enough for 4, maybe 5 rounds.
DH and nurse said they appeared to be very active too, which is great news!

December CD21 is a no go, which was expected, so I have my next treatment planning appointment on 21st Dec and we're looking at CD21 of Jan to start meds!

Autumbreeze · 13/12/2022 15:14

@Sj2505 amazing!!!!!!!! Such good news! Exciting times then.... we will both be starting about the same time then!! Aw bless him. So glad it went well though. I know it's such a worry. Can relax now and enjoy Christmas.

Sj2505 · 13/12/2022 15:34

@Autumbreeze we're very pleased. I'm looking forward to the appointment next week just to get some dates diarised ☺️

Lauralozzle · 13/12/2022 15:44

@Sj2505 Thats fabulous news! Jan will be here before you know it!!

90sarah · 13/12/2022 18:59

@Autumbreeze I feel fine now. It's actually quite nice to have a break of a break from medications before FET. Waiting for updates was horrendous, I was a complete mess throughout.

@sj2505 We will only be transferring one. My clinic doesn't do double transfers for someone my age unless is complex issues. Our problems are mostly MFI and our embryos are all really good grades so I'm hoping one will be enough.

So glad your husband's procedure went well! I bet you are both relieved to have it done. One less thing to worry about.

User491 · 14/12/2022 11:29

@90sarah that's a great number, bet you are so pleased 😊 it's going to be an exciting January for us all 😊

@Sj2505 brilliant news! Time will fly in 😀

@Lauralozzle how are you? Hope your still doing ok. I've been getting worse bad heads, and feeling tired. It's hard to know whether it's the meds or not as so many bugs going around too 🙈

MsSandyToes · 14/12/2022 11:56

Hi everyone! I'd like to join you all please. :-) I'm due to start taking meds on CD21 which is December 28th for me ready for the first scan on CD2/3 in the first week of January. I have an AMH of 3 and a total of 7 follicles at 34 (I'm 35 in March) so was advised to start IVF/ICSI straight away. It's all a bit scary but I'm hopeful and glad to have found a group that understand. We won't know if we are doing IVF/ICSI until EC day because it was borderline for morphology so we are waiting to see on the day.

Lauralozzle · 14/12/2022 12:34

@User491 I’m with you on the tiredness. So, yesterday’s hurt quite a bit, there was a tiny bit of bleeding we hadn’t had before. I am so tired by the evening, went to bed to lie down at about 8:00 last night. Not sure if that was me just feeling sorry for myself though. I’ve had a few headaches but not that bad. I’ve had cramps/twinges around my ovaries most days. My boobs are killing me. They usually get a bit sore just before AF but not this bad usually (they got this bad prior to me taking levothyroxine). I have zero energy to do anything, but I’m working, and bored so it might just be that. I think if I was out and about doing things I would be ok until evening. AF is due today/tomorrow but no sign yet. I really hope AF is not late though!!

@MsSandyToes Hello! Are you doing down reg if you’re starting on day 21? Welcome, we’re all pretty much in the same boat here!

Autumbreeze · 14/12/2022 13:35

@MsSandyToes welcome! We did ICSI first round but like you we found out at egg collection. I'm guessing we will be the same this round to. How are you feeling? Do you have an estimated date for egg collection?

@Lauralozzle aw bless!! Hope your period arrived soon. Mine came today but only just so to I will be classed as day one so that means in theory I will be starting earlier in Jan now, only a few days though.
It's annoying that you can only take paracetamol when you feel rubbish to which doesn't do a lot.

User491 · 14/12/2022 16:51

Welcome @MsSandyToes great we are all gonna be so close dates wise on here!

@Lauralozzle it's odd how some hurt more than others, I am the exact same. My boobs have actually been fine, but don't really suffer with them apart from around ovulation.
I'm soooo bloated though, and I'm at an Xmas party tomorrow - outfit disaster 🙈
I came on Monday and it was only 2 full days bleeding and stopped today. I think it could be with me starting on cd13, my lining maybe wasn't as thick? I was expecting it to be horrific 🤣
Aww hope you feel better soon, I felt like that the first week too, but then now the tiredness is more on a morning (I am up 5.30am most days tho 🙈)

@Autumbreeze them extra days early will make all the difference 👏🏻 funny how now we all just pray for af to arrive 😂
Paracetamol doesn't do a lot at all! I actually took an ibprofen at the beginning of starting my meds, I didn't realise we weren't supposed to! I always avoided them when ttc, but would occasionally take them when af arrived!

Do you know what the reason is behind it?

Lauralozzle · 14/12/2022 17:42

@Autumbreeze @User491 Thanks 😊. I think I’m just being extra moody and PMS like. I’m getting irritated at small things, such as the doctors which should be open, but the line is going through to NHS 111 or whatever it is. I don’t need to call 111 I just want to know what my thyroid bloods were! Resorted to leaving them a message on NHS app. They’ve changed and joined this bigger group thing and it’s all been a bit shit since they have.

Im convinced actually my tiredness in the day at least is boredom, at least in part. Think my head is in holiday mood but I’m in rest of this week and most of next week. I just want an easy week and a half left of work, but then I get bored, so time drags and it’s a bit of a catch 22.

@User491 I’m glad your period wasn’t too bad! Hoping mine won’t be when it eventually turns up.

Paracetamol is rubbish, isn’t it. I usually take paracetamol/codine for my period so paracetamol on its own is going to be horrible. NSAIDS can apparently interfere with ovulation according to Google.

Autumbreeze · 14/12/2022 17:51

@User491 I took ibuprofen as well for my first round not knowing 🤦🏼‍♀️ but my period was so bad I didn't even think so just did it.

The last planning meeting.... they sprung it on us that it was time to start meds... I thought we were just going for blood tests and they gave us so much information not a lot went in at all. Hopefully I'll be better mentally prepared this time... if that's such a thing going through all this!

Yeah I'm only two days early, but it'll
Prob mean I'll be a little early next month! Praying for lots of autumn babies for us all.

User491 · 18/12/2022 13:24

@Lauralozzle bless you, how are you feeling now? Did your period arrive?
Nhs are a nightmare at the moment I think, it's a total crisis!
I can't believe that I took ibprofen. Really hope it's not interfered with anything 😬🤞🏻

@Autumbreeze
Im pleased I'm not the only one, hopefully it won't have done any harm 🙈
It's so hard to take everything in isn't it.
I'm hoping all is ok when I go back on Tuesday.

I've still been ok on the jabs so far, but I had horrendous night sweat on Friday night, I woke up absolutely soaking 🙈 sorry not the nicest thing to report 🤣 was fine last night though. It's so crazy isn't it this whole journey!

Hope you are all having a lovely weekend 😊

Lauralozzle · 18/12/2022 13:53

@User491 Still no period. Thought it might come today as boobs aren’t as sore but nothing so far. We’ll see. I think if it hasn’t started by Wednesday I’ll give the clinic a ring. That will be in line with my longest cycles. Pretty sure I ovulated before CD 17-18 though given EWCM I had. There was talk about being on buserelin until Christmas Eve but at this rate I’ll be on buserelin much longer than that before I start stims. I’ve read online that some people are down regging for weeks though.

I’m feeling okay, just a bit crampy. How are you?

User491 · 18/12/2022 14:26

@Lauralozzle hopefully it arrives soon! It's strange how my down regging works, as I started 27th November, and I start Menopur 21/12/22 (all being well Tuesday) but I've to continue the buserelin too, and from my letter it seems I'll still be on that up to NYE. I didn't realise they would carry on that while on the other meds. I think I need to ask for more info 🤯

I'm ok thanks, just plodding along, as I say I feel pretty fine, sometimes a little crampy, the headaches and the occasional hot flush, but actually ok so far 🤣

Lauralozzle · 18/12/2022 14:50

@User491 Yeah i have to take buserelin right until trigger. Think it stops you ovulating with the stims.

I’ve not had any hot flushes, the house is so cold, I think if I had one I wouldn’t notice lol!

Fingers crossed all is good Tuesday!

User491 · 18/12/2022 16:09

Ahh so it is just standard procedure.
We weren't even told whether to use protection or not following up to the treatment, something else I've just thought about 😂

Oh no haha, maybe a hot flush wouldn't be a bad side effect then 🤣
