Hello,

My partner and I need IVF due to MFI. We are hoping to start treatment in January 2023.

I had my fertility ultrasound scans today and these are my results:

AFC -

Left Ovary - 13 follicles
Right Ovary - 14 follicles

My Endo thickness was 7.3mm (cycle day 10).

I have no masses, cysts, fluid etc - everything looked smooth and normal.
How do these results seem?

I was also told I have a retroverted uterus - will this affect IVF?
Thank you

@Lauralozzle At least things have started moving again 🤞🏼😬

Sj2505 · 31/05/2023 11:39

@Brown269 you sound like you have good will power! I think I would have held out longer if I didn't have the holiday next week.
I'm so anxious about telling people early, especially my son, but it's unavoidable with the holiday. So the more early reassurance I can get the better.

@Lauralozzle yay! Roll on AF! At least you are on the road again. Back in Jan I was supposed to start Norethisterone on CD21 for 7 days, but because AF was two weeks late they changed it to CD19 for 5 days. So hopefully you'll be starting it before you know it.

Brown269 · 31/05/2023 14:19

@Sj2505 I don’t know if I’ll have good will power when it actually comes to it 🤭
Yeah I guess it’ll be easier to be able to tell people to explain why you’re not having a cocktail on holiday 🤭 but it’s also worrying to announce so early isn’t it.

Sj2505 · 14/06/2023 22:16

Just wanted to come here with an update. It ended in a chemical 😔 the line started getting lighter at 7dp5dt and by OTD it had completely gone. I've been finding it really difficult to process, but I'm finally looking ahead again!
I have my follow up consultation tomorrow afternoon.

Oh @Sj2505 Im so sorry to hear that 😞💔 this is just such a cruel process :(
Hopefully your holiday managed to take your mind off it a little and I’m glad to hear you’re able to start looking forward again, and you have lots of embryos in the freezer so your still in good position.
Hope you’re getting lots of love around you ❤️

I started AF yesterday so have booked my day 10 scan for next Friday, all being well should be transferring 3rd July 🤞🏼

Lauralozzle · 15/06/2023 07:26

@Sj2505 I’m so sorry 😞 I can imagine it’s been hard to process but I’m glad you’re looking ahead again. Let us know how your follow up appointment goes if you’re up for it.

@Brown269 3rd July will be here before you know it!

My AF came, it’s just about finished now. I’ll be taking norethisterone from CD18 for 10 days. So, that’ll be when I’m away at the end of the month. Stims and transfer will likely be end of July.

Brown269 · 15/06/2023 09:32

@Lauralozzle Not too long to wait for you either then 🤞🏼❤️
How are you feeling about going again?

Lauralozzle · 15/06/2023 17:03

@Brown269 I’m happy to get going again. I’ve done an awful lot of waiting recently and it’s good that things are moving in the right direction.

Brown269 · 15/06/2023 22:59

@Lauralozzle Glad things are moving again for you and I’ll keep everything crossed 😊

User491 · 23/06/2023 11:27

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all ok, I've not posted for ages as I felt like a needed a bit of a break from it all tbh, but I've had a break, had a holiday and now getting geared up to start our second round soon 😬 seems to have flew in to be totally honest.

I've had a bit of a read to catch up a bit,

@Sj2505 I am so sorry to read that, bless you, I hope the holiday gave you a bit of time to come to terms with it ☹️ how did your follow up app go?

@Lauralozzle that's great news that your starting soon, how are you feeling about it all?

@Brown269 so exciting, I bet you can't wait, it will be here before you know it!

@Autumbreeze how are you doing?

Brown269 · 23/06/2023 13:41

Hey @User491 Glad to hear you gave yourself a bit of a break, definitely needed sometimes! When are you looking to start again then?

I had my first scan today, lining at 7mm and one follicle at 10mm so back in on Monday to see if I’m nearer ovulating and I’m predicting transfer will be Monday 3rd July 🤞🏼🤞🏼

User491 · 23/06/2023 14:32

@Brown269 yes it was definitely needed I think, I was getting stressed out and miserable with it all ☹️
I am due to collect meds next week and start them 4th July hopefully 🤞🏻 long protocol though.

Actually you guys might be able to answer this for me.. I'm stressed out now as I've just got back off holiday and I am a stone heavier 😱😱 some will be a bit of bloat, but I think because I've been in a deficit for a good while, my body is holding on to it again (same happened last year and it took 5/6 weeks to lose) I'm scared they weigh me and don't let me start as I was only just under the BMI last time. I'm back in my deficit and training etc again so I know it will come back off but I'm really worried now 😬

That's amazing 😊 bet your so pleased to have near confirmed dates now 😊 how exciting. Hopefully your ovulation happens and all goes to plan!!

Brown269 · 23/06/2023 14:39

@User491 Im not sure really regarding bmi… is it still funded NhS round then?
They asked me at my first appt for a fet if my bmi had changed and I just said no even though I am half a stone heavier 😬 but they didn’t check so I guess it’ll just depend on the nurse on the day? But 🤞🏼 they just go by what you were last time.

Lauralozzle · 23/06/2023 14:41

@User491 Hi 👋 Hope you enjoyed your holiday. I totally understand taking a break.

Im not sure about your BMI question. I’ve found losing this weigh really hard but I’m private now, so that helps with the BMI.

I’m feeling ok for next cycle. Just waiting. I’m on holiday next week and I start taking norethisterone then too so at least it’ll feel like it’s happening!

User491 · 26/06/2023 13:44

@Brown269 yes it's a nhs funded round, I'm mortified. I got my weight back down after the miscarriage earlier on in the year and I stuck around the same weight, all that time, went on holiday and put a stone on 🙈 I actually trained every other day while away for 2 weeks to try and keep weight gain down and fitness up, the fitness side worked but not on the scales 😬
Oh I really hope they do, I have logs of all my weight and BMI on my phone for the last 12 months, I hope they understand and accept it. Thing is I'm so fit and healthy again now, i calorie count and eat a balanced diet, and train 6 days a week, 12k steps a day etc... if they tell me they won't let me do it it will result in a crash diet to lose the weight fast so I can get straight back in, you would think that would be worse so really hoping they accept it🤞🏻🙏
Can you tell I'm a nervous wreck 😂😂

@Lauralozzle the break was definitely needed, I was reluctant at first but I think it done me good, so nice to be back though!

Sorry your struggling weight wise this time, but at least it doesn't matter for the IVF, BMI is the highest load of rubbish ever tbh! I don't agree with it. Nice your getting a break away too, hope you have a fab time, so exciting getting things moving again too. It's all little stepping stones then it will be here before you know it!

Brown269 · 26/06/2023 14:12

@User491 Its really difficult isn’t it, I don’t know hardly any women who don’t have struggles with their weight one way or another, I’m definitely an emotional eater and being pumped full of hormones and having emotions thrown all over the place makes it almost impossible to stay on track doesn’t it ☹️
It must be so frustrating when you know you’re healthy & fit but it’s just the number on the scales that they take in to account!

User491 · 28/06/2023 13:28

@Brown269 it is so difficult when going through this process ☹️
thankfully I have my meds 🥳 the nurse didn't even ask about weight or to weigh me.. hallelujah. I'll keep trying to get my weight down as I don't feel comfortable anyways, but if they ask at any other point now I can blame the meds 😂😂

How did you get on yesterday?

Brown269 · 28/06/2023 13:33

@User491 Thats really good news 😃 glad they didn’t check! You’re all ready to go again now then?

My follicle had only only grown 2mm in 3 days so back again today to see if it’s grown drastically since Monday, otherwise looks like I won’t be ovulating this month and we’ll have to cancel until next month 😞

User491 · 28/06/2023 13:45

@Brown269 yes brill news, so happy! Yes all set to go on Tuesday for down reg then if all goes well start stims 28th July, egg collection booked for 10th aug (had to do an extra 2 days last time tho)

They've changed my menopur I had last time to Ovaleap not sure if you've ever came across it but I'm so happy as it's a pen with cartridges, the menopur was a total faff on mixing the water with 3 lots of powder and changing needles etc.

Oh no I'm so sorry, I really hope it has grown ☹️ it's typical isn't it! The one month you just want everything to go to plan 😢 fingers crossed for you, let me know how you get on x

Brown269 · 28/06/2023 13:51

@User491 That definitely sounds much better! I was on menapur too and agree it is a faff!! Hopefully all goes to plan then, and EC will be here before you know it 😃
Will you be having a fresh transfer if all goes to plan?

Yeah it’s so frustrating that this is the month my body decides to play up! And I’m worried they’ll use this as a reason to be more forceful about me doing a medicated fet rather than a natural 😬

User491 · 28/06/2023 15:53

@Brown269 yeh defo, it used to take me ages, then I often thought I lost a little of the liquid too, so hopefully a lot easier!

Yeh the plan is to do a fresh transfer on day 5 as long as we have something 🤞🏻 we only got 1 out of 5 last time ☹️

Bless you, I really hope all is well when you go, you get yourself all set up for it aswell, so it will be so rubbish if you can't. Have everything crossed for you 🤞🏻
Are you really keen to do it natural if you can?

Brown269 · 28/06/2023 17:45

@User491 I’ll keep everything crossed for you too that you have one to put in on day 5 🤞🏼
Are you with the same clinic? Hopefully if they’re changing things up a bit this time using diff drugs they’re hoping to see better results?

Just came out my scan, my follicle is now 15mm so looking a lot more optimistic 😃 she said she thinks there’s a chance I’ll ovulate Friday / Saturday if it keeps growing 🥳
Yeah Im really hoping to do natural if possible, I was so poorly from the ivf that I’d rather avoid any more drugs if possible but will do controlled if needed 😬

User491 · 28/06/2023 22:22

Thank you, I really hope so! Yeh same clinic, they didn't want to change anything as they said as it worked they wanted to stick with the same protocol and meds.. but the changed the menopur for Ovaleap but think that's more a supply issue.
You think I should have pushed to change the meds?

Ah that's amazing news, fingers crossed for the weekend then 🤞🏻 bet you feel a lot better now that you know that your still in with a chance of things going your way ☺️
Don't blame you at all if you were that poorly, but at least you can do it worse case scenario 😊

Brown269 · 29/06/2023 05:24

@User491 Ahh ok, I didn’t realise there was a Menopur shortage! I’ve only ever had one round so I’m not sure of the parameters they use as to whether to change / increase drugs I’m afraid 🫤 but I would trust what they say so if they’re doing the same if it worked last time then I personally wouldn’t had be pushed to change it as I think we have to put our trust in them really don’t we 😬🤞🏼 it is all such a minefield isn’t it, and definitely makes you wish you’d studied embryology at uni so you could understand even half of what was going on 🙈😆

Yeah I was really chuffed it was good news, still showing high today so 🤞🏼 for a surge tomorrow!

User491 · 03/07/2023 12:19

@Brown269 tbh I'm not sure if it is a supply shortage or not I just presumed it was... I will have to ask next time I'm there ha!
Yes 100% I should just trust what they say/do, I am pushing this time for the extra progesterone , the nurse said we can discuss it when I go back at the end of the month.
Haha it's so so complicated but so interesting,
Day one of the jabs tomorrow 😬

How are you doing did you ovulate? 🤞🏻
