Hello,

My partner and I need IVF due to MFI. We are hoping to start treatment in January 2023.

I had my fertility ultrasound scans today and these are my results:

AFC -

Left Ovary - 13 follicles
Right Ovary - 14 follicles

My Endo thickness was 7.3mm (cycle day 10).

I have no masses, cysts, fluid etc - everything looked smooth and normal.
How do these results seem?

I was also told I have a retroverted uterus - will this affect IVF?
Thank you

Sorry I disappeared! How is everyone getting on?

We had another consultation today and received our protocol and need the following medication:

  • 1 x Folic Acid 10 mg
  • 2 x Gonal F (900 units each)
  • 4 x Orgalutran
  • 1 x Ovitrelle

The prices look eye-watering!!

Ooh sorry @Sj2505 you did say the 13th. It's been a long day! 😂 Did you have a frozen or fresh transfer the first time?

@Infertilitylifedo you have a date to start stims? Ooh I'll have a look at them!

Infertilitylife · 29/11/2022 20:45

@Autumbreeze Hopefully when I start my period in January (Due around the 21st)

Autumbreeze · 29/11/2022 20:58

@Infertilitylife are you doing long or short protocol? I'm due around the 15th Jan and doing short this time. I'm looking forward to less injections this time! I'm such a baby with them.

Sj2505 · 29/11/2022 21:03

@Autumbreeze it was a fresh transfer last time.
I've attached the pic they gave me on the day 🥰
I think they got about 12 eggs at EC, and come day 5 we had 2 blasts - both were very similar apparently.

@Infertilitylife how exciting! I can't wait to have a plan in place. We have a vague one but they're reluctant to set anything until OH has had his SSR so we know what we're working with.

I've never willed Christmas to fly by before 😆

@Autumbreeze I actually don't know! What is the difference between the two? Sorry - I sound so silly.

Fingers crossed for you 🤗

@Infertilitylife no not silly, so much to know! Long protocol you start meds on day 21 of your cycle if I remember right and I think it was about 5 weeks of injections before trigger shot and egg collection. short you start during your period... short is a lot quicker, like two/three weeks I think?!

@Sj2505 aw wow! Did you use your frozen one to? We have a photo of ours as well from my fresh transfer and a little video of the ultrasound of it being implanted! Nice to keep those memories. December 13th will be there before you know it!

Infertilitylife · 29/11/2022 22:14

@Autumbreeze ahh! I think I’m on short protocol then. I start the Gonal F on day 1 of my period. Then egg collection is around day 12-13 I’m told.

@Infertilitylife aw yea sounds like short, same as me then ☺️

Autumbreeze · 30/11/2022 06:19

@Autumbreeze It is all a bit overwhelming isn’t it. There’s so much to get your head around x

Autumbreeze · 30/11/2022 08:05

@Infertilitylife definitely! I learnt a lot very quickly in my first round but it's been so long now I've forgot it all. Nice to be sharing this journey with you guys!

Do many people know about you doing IVF?

Infertilitylife · 30/11/2022 11:32

@Autumbreeze We have told our families that we are doing IVF but haven't gone into the specifics really. Have you shared that you are doing IVF?

@Sj2505 You'll have a plan before you know it 🙂I hope your husband's SSR is positive!

@Sj2505 Hi! 👋 welcome!

@Autumbreeze @Infertilitylife Thank you for good luck wishes this morning!

Weighed in at the fertility clinic, BMI was 29.5. Thank god! I’m so relieved.

The clinic are going to sort out the prescription and send it to Stork. I should hear from Stork with a delivery date.

I start down regulation on 9th December. The nurse said I’d probably have to take down reg meds until Christmas Eve, tried to talk me into waiting until my next period but I was having none of it. I don’t care if I feel shitty for an extra week. I’ll be off work, it’ll be Christmas, I love Christmas and feeling a bit crap will not change that!

Just remembered I’ll have to contact them to arrange bloods, before stims but I’ll sort that out end of this week/next week!

Looking at egg collection early-mid January.

Its getting a bit real now!

Autumbreeze · 30/11/2022 13:12

@Lauralozzle oh that's exciting! Full steam ahead then!! I'm sure you'll be fine hopefully! I was fine on the meds apart from when I had my period! So hopefully you'll be the same.

Lauralozzle · 30/11/2022 13:24

@Autumbreeze yes! Full steam ahead!

just heard from Stork. Meds are being delivered this Friday! So plenty of time ahead.

was your period particularly bad on buserelin?

Autumbreeze · 30/11/2022 15:17

@Lauralozzle I have bad periods anyway but while on the meds and my one after the failed cycle was awful!! And you can't take ibuprofen, Only paracetamol and it didn't touch the sides. I'm in work at the moment but will check when I get home what meds I was in.

@Infertilitylife only my manager knows and my mam about our cycle but we've tried to keep it really quite. Just less pressure.

Lauralozzle · 02/12/2022 09:41

@Autumbreeze I’ll prepare for the bad periods then! Mine used to be awful but they’re much better since I’ve been on levothyroxine.

Meds came today, stims are in the fridge! I’ve called the clinic to arrange bloods which is next Tuesday.

Down regulation starts next Friday. It’s all getting very real. We only have one cycle on NHS so I’m really hoping it works!!

Autumbreeze · 02/12/2022 14:07

@Lauralozzle that's very exciting! Everything crossed for you! Did they have a week to estimate egg collection for you?

We go for our planning meeting on the 4th Jan and collect meds! We pick ours up from the pharmacy in the hospital and last time it was a three hour wait so I went back the next day for them. None of my meds had to go in the fridge except for the trigger shot.

Lauralozzle · 02/12/2022 15:34

@Autumbreeze They haven’t given a proper estimate for egg collection but said I’ll be one of the first in the new year. I’ve reckoned second-ish week of January though if I might have to continue down reg until Christmas.

Oh, how exciting! 4th Jan. that’ll be here before you know it! strange, my trigger shot doesn’t have to go in the fridge, just the stims. But, I guess that’s because we’re on different protocols so different meds.

Autumbreeze · 02/12/2022 21:25

@Lauralozzle I was on long protocol with those meds. No idea what I'll be on next time. But there are different meds to suit I think. Ooh one of the first of the year! That's exciting!

User491 · 05/12/2022 14:24

Hi everyone,

@Lauralozzle so good you have start dates etc, so exciting 😊
Im on day 8 or the buserelin now, had one bad night with cramps, but otherwise fine other than headaches. From reading the other posts though I'm not looking forward to getting my period 😂 we will be close in the process. I get my egg collection 3rd January 😱

@Autumbreeze so will they likely change everything around for you next time?

I can't even focus on Xmas at the moment, too much going on with all this 😂

Lauralozzle · 05/12/2022 15:03

@Autumbreeze Oh my bad. Some strange reason I must have thought you were talking about your next cycle. My brain is mush this week! Haha.

@User491 I’m excited and petrified of being hopeful all at the same time. Mind fuck much!

Are you long or short protocol? I’m glad you’re ok on the buserelin, I can cope with cramps and headaches (I think). Any hot flushes at night?

Im struggling to focus on Xmas. Maybe once I’ve started and then had my period and have dates for down reg scans I’ll feel a bit more positive!! I’m struggling to focus at work at the moment, my mind is everywhere but where it should be!

User491 · 05/12/2022 15:11

@Lauralozzle yes I am completely the same 🙈 totally not like me either.

I'm long protocol, I was just told to start the meds on the specified day, they didn't ask where I was in my cycle which is odd.
The cramps I had the first time were horrendous, I couldn't walk, but it was in the middle of the night I woke with them, and the next day I was fine 😂 now just mild ones occasionally. I've had a few hot flushes, but nothing major. The injecting isn't as bad as I thought it would be either, and managing it myself.

Which clinic are you with?
