Hello,

My partner and I need IVF due to MFI. We are hoping to start treatment in January 2023.

I had my fertility ultrasound scans today and these are my results:

AFC -

Left Ovary - 13 follicles
Right Ovary - 14 follicles

My Endo thickness was 7.3mm (cycle day 10).

I have no masses, cysts, fluid etc - everything looked smooth and normal.
How do these results seem?

I was also told I have a retroverted uterus - will this affect IVF?
Thank you

Awww @Jcl22 that is great news ❤️ how’s it feel knowing your little bean is nice and snuggled inside your tummy now? 🥰
Ill keep everything crossed he/she gets nice and comfy and decides it feels like a good home for the next 9 months 😃
I read up before about the 3 or 5 day transfers cause I couldn’t understand why they leave it longer and it seems like they only do it to see how the embryos get on so they can select the best / see if any drop off so if it’s a good strong embryo then your chances are just as good transferring at 3 days 🥰
Did you get to watch them do the transfer on a screen ?

Jcl22 · 24/03/2023 14:15

@Brown269 it feels so surreal! I’m trying to stay realistic given that it was the lower end of the number of cells a 3 day embryo should be but also trying to stay positive! It’s helped immensely my own brain knowing that it’s where it should be and I’m giving it the best chance 🤞🏼
yeah you’re right about why they leave it 5 days - so they can pick the best embryo but given that we only had 1 we just felt it was the right thing to do!
Yes got to watch it on the screen, it was honestly all just so surreal! Even my husband who isn’t usually emotional was a bit choked up. After the call on Wednesday we just never thought we would get to this stage so just grateful we’ve got a chance. They advised me to take my ovitrelle injection on Sunday for luteal support and to keep the womb lining thick so will follow that advice and it’s all really up to nature now!

Brown269 · 24/03/2023 14:36

@Jcl22 It definitely seems like you made the right call ❤️
Ahhh bless your hubby, I bet it was such an emotional moment though, enough to crack even the hardest men 🤭
I’d never seen my husband cry until when I came round after EC and they said they’d managed to get 7 eggs, I think we forget just how emotionally challenging it is for them too don’t we as IVF is so centred on us as women and what our body’s are going through.
Have they given you your official test date?

Jcl22 · 24/03/2023 15:23

@Brown269 oh your poor husband after EC too! Yeah definitely think we underestimate how they are effected, the whole thing is just rough for everyone involved isn’t it!
Yes, have an appointment on 5th April for bloods to test so just need to keep going until then, hoping for the best 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Brown269 · 24/03/2023 15:28

@Jcl22 gosh that seems like such a long wait doesn’t it 😱 you’re definitely gonna have to try and keep yourself occupied to stop you losing your marbles 🤪

Lauralozzle · 24/03/2023 18:57

@Jcl22 Congrats on being PUPU 💐

Lauralozzle · 24/03/2023 18:57

That was meant to say PUPO! It’s been a long day!

Brown269 · 30/03/2023 10:15

Just popping in to say I hope everyone is doing well 💕💕

Autumbreeze · 31/03/2023 11:36

Good thank you. How are you doing @Brown269 do you know what month you are starting EFT yet?

I had my review consultation with WFI (NHS) they reckoned we definitely should go private as I responded well to round two, he said he'd keep me on the same meds and short protocol again if we went with them as we had much better numbers and a good blast.

Then we had our consultation with the private clinic who also said short protocol but completely different medication plan. We still need to look at loans. A two multi cycle will be £5,500 but the meds will be about £2,500. I asked for a list of the meds and it's loads on it... Lots more than the NHS and a double trigger as well. If we go with private clinic we can start in two or three months from when we sing the forms but I think I have my mind set on July now or later. I'm not in a rush.

Hope everyone else is doing ok!!

Autumbreeze · 31/03/2023 11:37

Also congratulations @Jcl22 how are you feeling?

Jcl22 · 31/03/2023 11:52

@Autumbreeze im ok thanks, a week into the 2 week wait and have been very up and down. Hope has kept me going but had some bad days too just convinced it hasn’t worked. Currently feel like my period is about to arrive so been sad about that but know they say it can be a similar feeling, it’s all just so out of our control!

Autumbreeze · 31/03/2023 12:02

@Jcl22 is it an emotional rollercoaster!! The two week wait is hard work physically and mentally! Hope the pains are good implantation ones.

Brown269 · 31/03/2023 12:10

@Autumbreeze We have our appointment next Thursday so was hoping to do it next cycle, but I have been tracking my ovulation this month as a sort of test run and it seems I haven’t ovulated 😞 I’ve never had that before and always shown positive on ovulation tests when we were TTC naturally so feeling a little worried that the effects from IVF have stopped me ovulating, which would definitely mean we couldn’t do natural FET and I really don’t want to do medicated 😞

It sounds like you’re more leaning towards the NHS then? Are they much cheaper for the treatment too? It’s so expensive isn’t it, I can only imagine the pressure that puts on! It feels more pressure for us that the FET goes right because we’re having to pay for it but that’s only £1k so just a drop in ocean compared to the amounts you’re looking at 🙁

@Jcl22 Sorry to hear you’re struggling so much with the 2WW ❤️ When is your official test date? I will keep everything crossed for you 🤞🏼 Miracles can happen 💕

Autumbreeze · 31/03/2023 12:23

@Brown269 I think the private clinic... it be honest I'd be happy with which every but DH would rather the private clinic to hopefully have some to freeze next time. They NHS wouldn't let us freeze any of our day three embryos which annoyed me a bit as I was fine to transfer a day three the first round. What they say goes. Hopefully more choice with the private clinic.

Maybe as it's just the month after and your body is still getting right? My friend did a medicated EFT and had a BFP. Speak to them on Thursday and see what they suggest.

Brown269 · 31/03/2023 12:36

@Autumbreeze Yeah I get that, think you’d definitely get more say in treatment and stuff going private rather than nhs, and that must have been really frustrating if they wouldn’t freeze your day 3 embryos, must be hurtful to think they’re yours so you should have a day in what happens to them rather than it being decided for you.

Yeah I’m hoping it’s just my body not quite back to normal yet 🤞🏼 The clinic will definitely advise going medicated, especially if I tell them I didn’t ovulate this month as they prefer medicated anyway, and I can definitely see the benefit, I think I’m just frightened of doing injections and stuff again in case I over react again 😕 we’re lucky we have 4 frozen so my hubby has agreed I can try natural even though they have advised medicated as we still have 3 more tries but I also don’t want to just see it as using one of them as a test run if that makes sense?

Autumbreeze · 31/03/2023 12:42

Yes @Brown269 I get it. Is it definitely injections again for medicated EFT or just pessaries? Maybe ask what meds are involved if they've not already said but I get it! I'm like you, injections are my worse nightmare and I'll never get use to them! So I understand.

Yes I wasn't to happy about it. I would have rather try a day three transfer again and freeze the grade 5 embryo. But again... no say in it!! The doctors and nurse were great though. It was just the embryologist who was difficult.

Brown269 · 31/03/2023 13:05

@Autumbreeze Yeah, it’s an injection on day 21 of cycle, they fyremadol once your cycle starts and a trigger shot mid month to trigger ovulation then the pessaries too, so they only let you do natural if you have regular periods and ovulation and they still push to do medicated cause it’s easier to control and predict ovulation but I just don’t wanna 😫😫 I think if I do have to do controlled I’ll perhaps leave it a couple of months to give myself time to get used to the idea of doing injections and stuff again.

I can completely see why you weren’t happy about that, that would have been another chance you had so awful to feel like it’s been taken away, and I definitely feel like you should get more say in what happens as they’re YOUR embryos. Hopefully going private will mean you get more control in what happens 🤞🏼

Autumbreeze · 02/04/2023 12:59

@Brown269 that is not so nice! I'm watering a few months as I can't think about the injections again. I know at some point I won't have a choice but I'm not ready to rush in to more of them. See what you click says on Thursday. Again it's not fair for you to be pushed in to something your not comfortable with.

Hopefully private is the best way forward. I talked to someone who went private with NHS clinic and she said she wished she never did... she is now going with the clinic we are looking at.

Brown269 · 03/04/2023 08:16

@Autumbreeze Yeah I totally understand that, I definitely don’t feel ready if I have to do injections again, and surely our bodies need a rest too!!

Hopefully private is the way forward for you then and you see some good results 🤞🏼

Jcl22 · 05/04/2023 14:12

Negative beta result for me today 😢
clinic having a review meeting in next couple of days which we will hear about on Monday and decide on next steps from there. Husband and I keen to try again but just such a tough process.
wishing you all the best of luck!!! X

Brown269 · 05/04/2023 14:28

Oh @Jcl22 im so sorry to hear that 😓
were you expecting that result?
Hopefully they’ll come up with a plan for your next steps and use this as a learning curve 🤞🏼
I hope you’re managing to look after yourself ❤️

Jcl22 · 05/04/2023 14:30

@Brown269 we transferred our only embryo which we knew was average quality on day 3 so knew the chances were slim but still hoped for the best 😢

yeah that’s what’s keeping me going I think, first time round has been and gone and can now learn from it 🤞🏼

does anybody have any experience of using access fertility? Not sure if that’s maybe a better option for us going forward but not sure how it works

Brown269 · 05/04/2023 15:12

@Jcl22 it’s hard not to get your hopes up though isn’t it 😓
Definitely, at least now you have something to go off and hopefully next round will see better results 🤞🏼

Lauralozzle · 07/04/2023 15:22

@Jcl22 I’m sorry 😢

I don’t have any experience with access, still trying to sort out funding for CARE’s version of it which hopefully will be sorted by end of next week.

Clinic rang me yesterday to confirm that they’re happy for me to start in my June cycle. So, still got a bit of waiting to go before we can start properly.

We had an amazing break away though last weekend in Munich, which is a beautiful city. No more abroad trips though, as dog (who was previously fine when we left him with grandparents) was upset the whole time. Howling and everything which he has never done before so only doggy holidays for now. We can’t leave him like that again.

MsSandyToes · 08/04/2023 09:58

@Jcl22 so sorry to hear your news. I enquired about access and was refused the unlimited and refunded packages but they also have multipackages that don't have any refunds that I believe are available to everyone.

Have you looked into Gaia? I used them, they offered me six rounds, I only have to pay for the rounds used and you only pay if you have a live birth at the end. You get a year after the baby is born interest free and then you have the option to pay it back monthly after that. For me it was the best option and the ladies that work there are absolutely lovely. Each time I had a new progesterone subscription, I paid (because it was easier for me to get it from my local pharmacy) and they reimbursed me the next day.

Happy Easter everyone. Hope you are all having a lovely weekend. 😊 🐣
