ICSI January 2023

Hello,

My partner and I need IVF due to MFI. We are hoping to start treatment in January 2023.

I had my fertility ultrasound scans today and these are my results:

AFC -

Left Ovary - 13 follicles
Right Ovary - 14 follicles

My Endo thickness was 7.3mm (cycle day 10).

I have no masses, cysts, fluid etc - everything looked smooth and normal.
How do these results seem?

I was also told I have a retroverted uterus - will this affect IVF?
Thank you

@Brown269 thank you so much . Hope your EC goes well , i was panicking about if i ovulated or not but the meds are really good at stopping it . are you on double dose of fyramadel?

Brown269 · 02/03/2023 12:39

@Sj2505 Hopefully it is starting to get better then 🤞🏼 and at least you can have a nice chilled day today 🥰
Is it today you should get a 3 day update then?

@zarascan47 I’m only on single dose, can’t find anywhere any indication of how long after your last dose you ovulate, it just says not o go over 30 hours and it was 39 hours between mine so not overly optimistic 😬

Sj2505 · 02/03/2023 13:08

Heard from the embryologist.
Of the 10 eggs which fertilised, we have 10 day 3 embryos!! I'm so shocked all have made it this far.
She said some are better than others. I know day 3 is a risky day as some will arrest on day 3, but I'm really hopeful that we will have some good blasts on day 5 and 6 now 🤞🏼✨

Autumbreeze · 02/03/2023 13:37

So sorry I've just caught up!!

@Sj2505 that's amazing news! I hope they all keep developing for you and plenty to freeze!!

@MsSandyToes congratulations! I bet it was very emotional! Are you to book any private scans to? Nice to make the most of it I think.

@zarascan47 good luck for tomorrow!

Oh my god @Brown269 sounds like a nightmare for you!!! Hopefully you've not ovulated and egg collection can go ahead Monday for you!! Hope you're ok!!

Brown269 · 02/03/2023 13:40

@Sj2505 Ahh congratulations that’s amazing 😍 lots of nice healthy little
embryos 🤞🏼❤️

@Autumbreeze Keeping everything crossed I haven’t ovulated but what will be will be I guess 😬

Autumbreeze · 02/03/2023 13:45

@Brown269 if the nurses didn't ask me at my scan appointments if I needed more meds I would have forgot to be honest. You have so much going on in your head.

Brown269 · 02/03/2023 14:04

@Autumbreeze i know, we feel so stupid and frustrated but nothing we can do about it now, we both only thought about the Menopur as that’s the one we measure ourselves, didn’t even think that we didn’t have and Fyremadel left. Just gotta keep everything crossed now and learn from it if it gets cancelled

Autumbreeze · 02/03/2023 14:10

@Brown269 I really hope it doesn't get cancelled!!! I feel awful for you both!
Will you go private if it did get cancelled?

Brown269 · 02/03/2023 15:29

@Autumbreeze me too, but I’m not too hopeful as my stomach pains have stopped and no bloating so I feel like I may have ovulated 😞

Yeah, we’d stay at the same clinic and pay to self fund as it has hubbys frozen swimmers and I wouldn’t want him to have to go through another op if it wasn’t necessary somewhere else.
I’m mostly gutted about all those lovely eggs I’ve grown going to waste 😞 but hopefully there is some more in there they can cook up ❤️

Autumbreeze · 03/03/2023 14:16

@Brown269 how did today go? Hope your ok!

Also @zarascan47 I hope your scan went ok

zarascan47 · 03/03/2023 15:28

@Autumbreeze hey all went one little baby in the right place with a heartbeat measuring 6 weeks :-)

Autumbreeze · 03/03/2023 15:35

Congratulations @zarascan47 hope you can relax a little more now! Amazing news! Xx

zarascan47 · 03/03/2023 15:36

@Autumbreeze thank you . yeah feel abit like weight lifted as had all scenarios going round my head . my partner was relieved it wasnt multiple lolllll .

Autumbreeze · 03/03/2023 15:40

@zarascan47 haha I bet... mine would have been relived to 😂 will you book any more scans before your 12 week one?

zarascan47 · 03/03/2023 16:17

@Autumbreeze was debating that in the car on the way home cause 6 weeks is a long way to wait well they said 11-13 weeks but knowing nhs will be the latest point. i wont go back to my clinic if i do as they are quite far from home ill pick somewere nearer to home

Autumbreeze · 03/03/2023 16:22

@zarascan47 are you now transfo your local NHS maternity hospital. Is it closer for you? Yeah I would do that to... make the most of it all I would ☺️ nice to see and get some scan photos for you.

zarascan47 · 03/03/2023 16:25

@Autumbreeze yeah they mentioned sending notes to my gp and then nhs take over from there so i think thats me and the clinic officially done now .not sure how it will works suppose ill hear from them when the next scan booked in

Lauralozzle · 03/03/2023 16:27

@zarascan47 That’s wonderful news about your scan!

@Brown269 How did you get on?

Autumbreeze · 03/03/2023 16:31

@zarascan47 I'm not sure also... I think you have an appointment with a midwife before your scan though maybe?! Trying to think what my friend did. I'm sure they'll explain all though and be in touch soon ☺️ exciting times!!

We have our follow up consultation with WFI on the 14th and our consultation with CRGW on the 20th. Going to see what both say but will more than likely go with CRGW I think.

Brown269 · 03/03/2023 18:22

Hey @Autumbreeze &@Lauralozzle ☺️
So the scan showed I haven’t ovulated yet so they have booked me for EC Monday but did say as my bloods were raised they can’t guarantee I won’t still ovulate before Monday so just 🤞🏼 it holds off until then!
They did say my progesterone levels were concerningly high though so they’ve prescribed me tablets to lower my progesterone in case of OHSS so if they do get any embryos they will all have to be frozen for a future frozen transfer which I’m absolutely fine with to be honest, be nice to have a break from all the ups and downs after the last couple of days!

@zarascan47 thats great news! So happy for you, I bet it was so magical seeing your little beans heartbeat 🥰

@Sj2505 did you get any further embryo updates today?

@Autumbreeze Hopefully your appointments go well and you get some info / clarity to give you a good plan going forward ☺️

Autumbreeze · 03/03/2023 18:34

Amazing news @Brown269 fingers crossed for you it all goes well on Monday for you! Sounds promising though! And a freeze all does give you time to heal before transfer to! I'm happy for you.

Thanks... it's nice to get two different opinions as well and see if they say similar things. WFI is an NHS hospital so free but CRGW we are paying for so it's good to see if they say the same or different.

Brown269 · 03/03/2023 18:40

@Autumbreeze thank you 🥰 we have more hope than we had yesterday!

Yeah, I guess it’s a hard choice between nhs and private isn’t it. I feel like I’d instinctively trust an nhs clinic more cause I do really think our nhs are great, but then the private clinics may ‘try harder’ because they charge more - if that makes sense lol

Autumbreeze · 03/03/2023 18:47

@Brown269 yeah I understand what you mean. We did have some issues with our NHS clinic. But all the nurses and doctors were amazing! It was more the process and not getting a lot of options... just being told this is how it will be. So maybe with private we will have more chance to request things. But like I said the nurses were amazing! And the doctors where lovely to. They are also a lot cheaper to pay private with but they don't offer multi cycles which we would like. So it's weighting it all up I think.

What time is your egg collection on Monday? Do you have to trigger tomorrow?

Brown269 · 03/03/2023 19:00

@Autumbreeze me and the hubby were saying exactly that this morning, everyone we have come accross at the hospital we are at has been absolutely lovely (apart from the very grumpy receptionists 🙄) but we do feel like we have been let down a little by their processes with sort of putting the responsibility on to us for checking we have enough drugs rather than them ensuring they prescribe the right amount and how they were quite quick to say the round would be cancelled, whereas we felt if it had been a private clinic we were paying for they would have done more to get us the injections on time etc so it’s a hard balance isn’t it.
I do also think the multi cycle and refund packages would surely make them more inclined to do everything they can to get successful results first time.

Egg collection should be at 8:30am Monday so trigger at 8:30pm tomorrow, I’ve already checked 3 times we have enough Fyremadel this time 🤣

Lauralozzle · 03/03/2023 19:04

@Brown269 That’s good news. Hopefully they stay put for egg collection. I’m willing you not to ovulate!

@Autumbreeze Busy month for you with appointments!

We had our NHS round at a private clinic that also accept NHS patients. I imagine the care will be exactly he same, just with add ons now!

I emailed the clinic today asking them to contact me about SOS sperm test. Hopefully next week they’ll get in touch and we can get that arranged.
