Hello,

My partner and I need IVF due to MFI. We are hoping to start treatment in January 2023.

I had my fertility ultrasound scans today and these are my results:

AFC -

Left Ovary - 13 follicles
Right Ovary - 14 follicles

My Endo thickness was 7.3mm (cycle day 10).

I have no masses, cysts, fluid etc - everything looked smooth and normal.
How do these results seem?

I was also told I have a retroverted uterus - will this affect IVF?
Thank you

EC booked for Friday 😬😬

My follicles today we’re all over the place a little though, the biggest one was 28mm 😱 and the smallest was 8mm, she said the bigger ones would probably not be any good as they’d be too mature and the smaller ones would probably not be mature enough, I only had about 4-5 between 14mm-18mm so a little worried they won’t get many eggs that are the right size / maturity 🫤
Has anyone else had experience with varied size follicles like that?

I also thought I’d only have to do the trigger shot tonight but I’ve gotta still do Menopur & Fyremadol a bit earlier then do the trigger shot later on, don’t know how I’m gonna manage with 3 in one night 🙈

Lauralozzle · 01/03/2023 12:27

@Brown269 Mine were a little all over the place. The consultant said they didn’t grow evenly in the review. Still managed to get 8 (which is what they counted at final scan)Egg collection for Friday! Woo!

Following the consultant mention that it’ll be worth checking my thyroid again, I remembered I had a blood test in Dec. Never heard back from GP so assumed it was all good, as that’s how it usually goes.

Not making that mistake again! I asked for a copy of the bloods today. TSH was 7.69 which is higher than it was when they put me on thyroxine to start with. It probably isn’t the reason it failed, but I can’t help but think it might have been part of the bigger issue. I hate subclinical hypothyroid. Clinic want it below 2.5 and GP doesn’t give a shit if it’s below ten.

I’ve booked an appointment with GP. A different one but I remember him from a couple of years ago and he was nice. Appointment is not until the 13th though, but hopefully they’ll up my dosage. It’s never easy, is it?

Brown269 · 01/03/2023 12:50

Thanks @Lauralozzle thats made me feel a bit better 🥰

That’s rubbish of your docs :( it’s so frustrating when they don’t understand the impact of something so little to them can be huge to you isn’t it 😞

Brown269 · 01/03/2023 20:03

So we didn’t realise we didn’t have enough fyremadol for tonight :( we’ve taken the Menopur and we’re due our trigger shot at 8:30, is it worth us still doing the trigger shot or will the round now be cancelled?

Lauralozzle · 01/03/2023 20:23

@Brown269 I'm not sure. Does your clinic have an emergency number or anything? They might not cancel, they might move egg collection a day, though I'm unsure.

Brown269 · 01/03/2023 20:27

@Lauralozzle i called them just before they closed and they issued a prescription but said I’d have to drive round to try and find somewhere that stocked it as hosp pharmacy was closed but we’ve tried everywhere and had no luck :(
they did say if we couldn’t get it theyd have to cancel the round, I’m gutted but it’s our own faults for not realising we didn’t have enough :(

Sj2505 · 01/03/2023 20:31

@Brown269 where abouts are you? Are there any other fertility clinics around you?

Brown269 · 01/03/2023 20:39

@Sj2505 we’re in the midlands, all fertility clinics I managed to find closed at 5/6, same as all the hospital pharmacies, the only ones open were inside supermarkets or boots and none of them had stock :(

Sj2505 · 01/03/2023 20:41

@Brown269 oh I'm so sorry! It's a shame you're not closer to me, you could have had one of mine!
Maybe start a new thread asking if anyone local has a spare - a long shot but might be worth it

Brown269 · 01/03/2023 20:44

@Sj2505 where about are you?
I did post one but no luck on there unfortunately :(

Sj2505 · 01/03/2023 20:46

@Brown269 I'm not far from Cardiff. Sorry to hear the threads not worked 😔

Brown269 · 01/03/2023 20:49

@Sj2505 ahh I wish I’d asked on here earlier as we may have just made it I’ve too you! We’ve decided not to take the trigger and just see what the clinic says tomorrow but maybe this just wasn’t our month ❤️

Sj2505 · 01/03/2023 20:50

@Brown269 do you have to take it at a certain time then? Mine were in the mornings so I just stuck with that.

MsSandyToes · 01/03/2023 20:50

@Brown269 I'm so sorry, I hope you manage to get hold of some this evening. Try the IVF support U.K. Facebook group too, there's loads of people in there and it's really active.

@Lauralozzle I'm sorry to hear about your thyroid but at least it's another thing you can tweak to make next time perfect 🤞

I had my scan today and saw the heartbeat and little jelly bean. It made me cry and I feel very relieved now. It's measuring one day behind but the nurse said that's OK.

Brown269 · 01/03/2023 20:53

@Sj2505 normally we took it at 8pm but they told us to take it by 7pm tonight and the trigger at 8:30pm. Hoping tomorrow they might say they will push back egg collection by a day instead but I’m not overly hopeful 🫤

Thanks @MsSandyToes ❤️
Congratulations, I bet that was such a magical moment, I’m so happy for you 🥰

Sj2505 · 01/03/2023 21:03

@Brown269 I have everything crossed that they'll let you reschedule!!

@MsSandyToes wow, that's amazing! I'm so happy for you 🤩

Lauralozzle · 01/03/2023 21:14

@Brown269 I hope they just move it back a day for you. On my trigger day I didn't take stims, it was just buserelin and hcg trigger.

Lauralozzle · 01/03/2023 21:17

@MsSandyToes That's wonderful news 😊 I bet you're so relieved.

I should have double checked re thyroid myself. GP has been notoriously rubbish with it. I don't get blood tests on NHS app either, think they're doing it for anything after Feb 23 when I asked for it, but nothing before so I have to ask for print outs.

Brown269 · 01/03/2023 21:25

Thanks both, fingers crossed they will let me re-schedule ❤️

zarascan47 · 02/03/2023 09:14

@MsSandyToes congratulations on your scan. I have mine tomorrow and im soooooo nervous so happy yours went so well. 🙂

Sj2505 · 02/03/2023 11:17

@Brown269 did you hear from the clinic?

@Lauralozzle we don't get the app in Wales 😫 I was gutted when I moved here from England and lost it, it was so handy haha!

@zarascan47 good luck for your scan tomorrow

Brown269 · 02/03/2023 11:21

@Sj2505 Weve just been to the hospital, they gave us a fryremadel to take straight away and we’ve gotta go back tomorrow to see if I’ve ovulated, if I haven’t then they will do egg collection Monday, if I have then they said it’ll be the end of this round and we wouldn’t be able to have another funded :(

@zarascan47 Hope your scan goes well tomorrow, sending lots of love and luck ❤️

Sj2505 · 02/03/2023 11:27

@Brown269 thankfully you didn't do the trigger! Hopefully you should be ok and the Fyramadel works quick enough to stop ovulation!

Brown269 · 02/03/2023 11:28

@Sj2505 fingers crossed 🤞🏼🤞🏼
how are you feeling today?

Sj2505 · 02/03/2023 11:36

@Brown269 I want to say that the bloating might be a little better, but I'm wary that I said that before. My sons off school with the strikes so no school run, I'm also off work today, so I'm having a lazy day and hope that it helps.
Still waiting for an update from the embryologist!
