Hello,

My partner and I need IVF due to MFI. We are hoping to start treatment in January 2023.

I had my fertility ultrasound scans today and these are my results:

AFC -

Left Ovary - 13 follicles
Right Ovary - 14 follicles

My Endo thickness was 7.3mm (cycle day 10).

I have no masses, cysts, fluid etc - everything looked smooth and normal.
How do these results seem?

I was also told I have a retroverted uterus - will this affect IVF?
Thank you

@Lauralozzle I think the meds are wearing off as I'm incredibly uncomfortable now, and very bloated!

MsSandyToes · 27/02/2023 21:26

@Sj2505 I'm so pleased for you! What an amazing number! 😍 you got four times as many as me exactly! I can only imagine how sore you must be. Take it easy. I'll keep everything crossed for you for happy healthy blasts 🤞

@Lauralozzle your review sounds positive too and I'm glad you'll be able to do the multi-cycle that will hopefully take some of the stress away for you. I'm insured for up to six rounds (until a live birth) and it helped me a bit to relax and not put so much pressure on it when I was worried they were going to cancel the cycle etc.

@Brown269 glad that your scan went well today too. 😊

Lauralozzle · 28/02/2023 06:48

@Sj2505 Hopefully you managed to get some rest and a bit of a duvet day once the meds began to wear off.

@MsSandyToes Yeah, I was a bit gutted when she said it’s very unlikely we’d be eligible for refund round, due to previous failed cycle and quality of the embryo. DH said later it’s a bit mad to hope for a refund cycle in case it doesn’t work when you want it to work. At least the multi cycle doesn’t have a medical review.

It was a positive review in that there’s things to try. I just hate having to wait! 3 months seems like a long time but my body needs to get back to normal. I’m nowhere near ovulating according to opk tests and at this point I’d usually be getting a positive. So my cycle really needs to sort itself out.

Brown269 · 28/02/2023 08:25

How are you feeling today @Sj2505 ? Hopefully not too sore 🙏🏼

Brown269 · 28/02/2023 08:33

Wonder if any of you have an opinion on something my hubby suggested this morning…….

He’s said that as they’re taking my eggs Friday and won’t be implanting an embryo until next Wednesday, could I have a drink Saturday without it affecting the outcome as there will be no eggs or embryos in me to damage?

I haven’t drank since Xmas to avoid causing any damage to my eggs so I don’t want to undo all that good work but I think he might be right that surely if there is nothing in me during those 5 days that it won’t cause any harm having a drink Saturday?

Opinions / experience would be gratefully received as I would bloody love to have a little blow out Saturday before hopefully having to not drink for 9 months 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Brown269 · 28/02/2023 08:42

Ok I’ve found this online so I think I’ve answered my own question 🙈

Alcohol disrupts your hormone levels

Oestrogen concentration is suggested to affect how the embryo attaches to the lining of your uterus (endometrium), such that an abnormally high level could lower the chance of implantation.

Sj2505 · 28/02/2023 09:16

@MsSandyToes @Lauralozzle @Brown269 thank you. I woke up feeling ok, I was actually able to move in bed without too much pain. But as the mornings gone on I've become more and more bloated again, which has come with the pain again. Hurts to even walk 😫

@Lauralozzle I'm so pleased you were able to discuss options at your review, it's a shame you have to wait but hopefully it will fly by! Did you book Munich?

@Brown269 I completely get the wanting to have a blow out! Personally I wouldn't during the 5 day wait as that stage is about getting your body ready to accept and nurture the embryo. And you could be called in day3 to have transfer.
But I guess your research answered your question haha.
How are you feeling with stims?

@MsSandyToes how are you feeling? Is it 1st you have your scan? Or am I getting that confused with someone else?

Brown269 · 28/02/2023 09:22

@Sj2505 sorry to hear you’re struggling this morning ☹️ hopefully you don’t have to do anything today and can rest?

Yeah that’s true, I’ve just got it in my head I’ll be in next Wednesday but it could be sooner I guess!
I’ve told him to get me in some 0% Guinness so that’ll have to do me 🤣

Brown269 · 28/02/2023 09:23

And I’m a bit grumpy today (probably why the hubby suggested a drink Saturday to cheer me up haha) but hopefully tonight will be the last day of stims so just gotta get through it without shouting at anyone at work 👀🤭

Sj2505 · 28/02/2023 09:33

@Brown269 0% sounds like the way forward haha. I've had a couple of Nozeco's throughout this 😂 it's actually really nice.
I do have to work today, but I work from home, so will be wadding between the sofa and my desk.

Update! Just had a call from the embryologist. Of the 17 injected eggs, 10 have fertilised! Quite a big drop, but I guess we were dealing with big numbers to begin so it's expected.
Another pro to freeze all is that they will freeze on day 5 and day 6. Obviously with a fresh transfer they would have only have 5 days to get to blast.
They'll call again on Thursday with a day3 update ☺️

Sj2505 · 28/02/2023 09:34

@Brown269 does anyone at work know what you're going through?

Brown269 · 28/02/2023 10:09

@Sj2505 Think I’ll definitely have to stock up on the alcohol free for the weekend then 🤭
Thats a shame you have to work, but at least if it’s from home you can just stay in your pjs and look after yourself ❤️

I work in a really small team so they all know what’s going on, doesn’t mean they are any more tolerable though, and are all very much getting on my nerves today 🤣

10 fertilised Is amazing 😍 we were told they hope to get 10 eggs which normally results in 2-3 good embryos so like you say starting with big numbers I guess you will see more of a drop off but you are in a really good position I’d say 😍

Lauralozzle · 28/02/2023 10:13

@Sj2505 10 fertilised is fantastic. Hopefully you get a decent number to freeze.

Sj2505 · 28/02/2023 10:58

@Brown269 there's such a good range of alcohol free nowadays!
I've got my most super comfy clothes on today. Baggy everything! Had to get dressed for the school run otherwise I would still be in pjs 😂
Haha, I suppose it's good they know so they can understand if you are snappy!

Thank you both! I'm very happy with the number. Considering in my initial consultation I said I got 12 eggs last time and he said ohhhh we wouldn't be looking at that many this time round 😅

Brown269 · 28/02/2023 11:06

@Sj2505 I don’t blame you, today is not the day to be wearing skinny jeans ✋🏼🤭
how is your tummy feeling now?

I guess they just never know until they actually go in to get them do they, it is an amazing amount though 😍

Sj2505 · 28/02/2023 12:24

@Brown269 it's much the same the be honest. Although, dare I say I think the bloating has gone down slightly! Famous last words!!

Is it your scan tomorrow? Hopefully you'll be all set for trigger ☺️

Brown269 · 28/02/2023 12:39

@Sj2505 Hopefully your tummy is starting to settle then 🤞🏼
Yeah, got a scan in the morning so all being well I’ll have my trigger tomorrow night 😬

Autumbreeze · 28/02/2023 17:19

Finally heard back from my clinic today! I'm still bleeding and cramping so I tried to call yesterday... they have a new automated message which included an email for the nursing team. So I emailed over and they called me back first thing today... they were VERY apologetic and said they had an issue with the phone lines and a lot of people struggled to get through but it's all fixed now. Booking me a follow up with the doctor and arranging counselling for us to. Just glad I finally got hold of them!!

@Sj2505 10 eggs is amazing!! You feeling any better now?

@Brown269 good luck for tomorrow and you to @MsSandyToes hope you're feeling ok!!

Brown269 · 28/02/2023 17:26

Thanks @Autumbreeze 🥰
Glad you managed to get hold of them and sort an appointment, hopefully counselling will help you too, have you used the counselling service before?

Autumbreeze · 28/02/2023 17:37

@Brown269 we used it at the very start before we had any treatment. She was very good and nice.

Exciting to think tomorrow you could be doing the trigger shot 🤩

Brown269 · 28/02/2023 17:40

That’s good then @Autumbreeze hopefully some more counselling will help with the next step in your journey then ❤️

Definitely 😬 I’m pretty uncomfortable today so I’ll be very surprised if they tell me my ovaries aren’t ready to be popped!

Sj2505 · 28/02/2023 17:56

@Autumbreeze I'm so pleased that you finally got a response from the clinic!

I'm not feeling great. I think I did too much. Been to the range and really think I shouldn't have now! I've been tracking my food today and I've reached the 100g of protein! Woo! Still working on the 2-3 litres of water, although I'm up to about 1.6l

Lauralozzle · 28/02/2023 19:11

@Brown269 Good luck with your scan tomorrow. Hopefully it’ll be trigger time!

@MsSandyToes Fingers crossed your scan is perfect tomorrow.

@Autumbreeze I’m glad you managed to get hold of your clinic. Have they said when you’ll get your review?

@Sj2505 Oh no, I’m sorry you’re not feeling great. Rest up, take time off if you need it. There were a lot of eggs, I was uncomfortable for a couple of days after 8 eggs, you must be in agony!

I only managed 81g of protein today. Calorie counting isn’t going so well (I keep going over) but I’m logging and that’s making me more accountable. I can tweak but for now it’s just getting back into the habit.

DH got me some orange and almond cookies because I’ve banned chocolate (that way I can still have a treat - his words! ♥️) They’re bloody lovely but at 300 calories a pop 😬

I find protein so hard, I don’t eat a lot of meat. I’ll try and get it to 100g tomorrow! I’m thinking if protein is good for eggies during stims then upping my protein intake normally might help them just generally. The proxeed is arriving tomorrow so hopefully that doesn’t taste as vile as I imagine!

I think maybe next week I’ll contact the clinic to arrange the Sperm stress test. We had our letter about the review we had yesterday pop up in the portal today. DH will need 3 full months on proxeed if it comes back as stressed, so better get it sorted sooner rather than later. He’ll be taking it anyway when it arrives, but if we go for May/June cycle might not be long enough. I want to cycle again before end of June, because we’re going away for his dads birthday last week of that month to the Peak District. Can’t really cancel it as his dad will be 80 and we’ll all be there.

I can’t wait until July. That’s too long!

Autumbreeze · 28/02/2023 19:48

@Lauralozzle they are going to send a letter... but it's NHS so could be a month or so off but to be honest I want to do our private consultation first anyway... so I'm hoping it'll be in April. You're doing well with the food, much better than me. I was so naughty lunch time and got three pasty's and a cookie pie 😬😬 I'm going to try and not go out for lunch the rest of the week! 😂

Sj2505 · 28/02/2023 20:07

@Lauralozzle I hope it is just the aftermath of EC, but OHSS wouldn't surprise me by the way I'm feeling.
81g of protein is still really good mind you, like you said it's just about getting back into the habit! Protein wise today, I had a protein bagel with lightest Philadelphia and ham for breakfast, and a boiled egg. For lunch I had tuna pasta, and for a snack I had some of those fridge raiders.

I then ordered fish and chips for dinner haha! Whilst I'm feeling pants I'm not too worried about calories. I'm hoping I'll feel better after the weekend and can get back into healthy eating next week.
