ICSI January 2023

Hello,

My partner and I need IVF due to MFI. We are hoping to start treatment in January 2023.

I had my fertility ultrasound scans today and these are my results:

AFC -

Left Ovary - 13 follicles
Right Ovary - 14 follicles

My Endo thickness was 7.3mm (cycle day 10).

I have no masses, cysts, fluid etc - everything looked smooth and normal.
How do these results seem?

I was also told I have a retroverted uterus - will this affect IVF?
Thank you

@User491 I have everything crossed for you! I really hope this is positive news 🤞

@Lauralozzle and @Autumbreeze I hope the phone rings soon with positive news. 🤞🤞

Sj2505 · 31/01/2023 08:39

@User491 I guess it's possible if they missed an egg at EC, or there was a smaller follicle and it's since released. They do say not to dtd between EC and testing though don't they 🤷🏻‍♀️ or that might just be my clinic.
Have you taken a test recently?
Roll on Thursday when you find out for sure.

I feel like I'm years behind haha but how did everyone find down regulation with moods etc?
I am clearly coming up to some hormonal changes in my cycle (ovulation presumably) and oh my, my mood has really changed, so I was hoping that down regulation might perk me up a bit 😆
2 more days!!

Lauralozzle · 31/01/2023 08:54

@Sj2505 At first, I didn’t feel any difference on down regulation. But after I started stims, I realised I was down, pretty glum about everything. Wanted to be alone. Had horrible headaches. A few days on stims and realised i felt normal again, much perkier! it can cause chemically induced depression, so unfortunately it didn’t perk me up.

Hopefully it won’t be like that with you though? And hopefully you’re not on it for 6 weeks!! I think that was a large part of it for me.

Autumbreeze · 31/01/2023 09:04

Hospital called, four have fertilised so far. Four were mature eggs so they started with them, the other two did mature so they injected the sperm but they didn't take. So at the moment 4 are doing well. Transfer will be Thursday or Saturday. They are going to call Thursday morning with another update. They did mention a double transfer potentially, depending on the grading of the embryos.... DH went a funny colour when I told him that 😂😂 but it's something to think about. I know things can change though... so just taking a step at a time.

@Sj2505 I was fine on the meds. Think I was on different ones to some others though so maybe they effect us in different ways... I did bloat a lot though. Couldn't get my jeans on. Luckily I wear scrubs to work so they are super comfy 😂 I also wore my scrub bottoms to walk the dogs rather than my leggins.

@User491 that's positive news!! So scan on Thursdays? Are they doing bloods again? I really hope it's not ectopic for you, my friend just went through that from an IVF round and it was awful! But she was in a lot of pain and bleeding quite a bit. So hopefully not.

Lauralozzle · 31/01/2023 09:47

@Autumbreeze four is great!

News not that good for me. 6 were mature out of the 8, only 2 fertilised out of those 6.

hopefully I get one. Transfer we will be scheduled for Saturday.

Im a bit disappointed with fertilisation rate to be honest. I don’t really expect anything to transfer.

Autumbreeze · 31/01/2023 10:16

@Lauralozzle don't think like that. Last time I only had two eggs and only one of them fertilised and that was a good little one so please don't be down hearted... i know it's easier said than done, but it only takes one. And I am a true believer over quality than quantity! I have everything crossed for you. I know mine could still end up a little one or none. But trying to think positive. Nothing about this experience is fun... but hopefully worth it. Sending hugs!! Xx

Sj2505 · 31/01/2023 10:30

I think might just have to avoid poor OH for the next few weeks if it gets any worse 🫣
I haven't slept well the past couple of nights so I hope that's to blame and a good nights sleep will fix it haha.

@Autumbreeze @Lauralozzle great results for you both. Fx all the little fertilised embabies carry on mingling!
@Lauralozzle It's not over until it's over, so try and keep positive! I have everything crossed!!

@Autumbreeze I used to don the very fashionable scrubs haha. I think I still have some somewhere! They are so comfortable aren't they!

Lauralozzle · 31/01/2023 10:43

@Autumbreeze @Sj2505 Thanks both. Right, positive hat on.

I think what’s hard is that I won’t know anything until transfer day! Care have a do not disturb policy. Thursday I’ll get date for transfer, but they won’t check them until day 5.

But, two have fertilised and they could go the distance! Hopefully they do!

Autumbreeze · 31/01/2023 11:57

Yes @Sj2505 it's like wearing PJ's to work 😂 not the best looking but super comfy. The best bit is when I wear them to my appointments the amount of people who stop me and ask questions of how to get places thinking I work in the hospital. Don't see the giant paw print on my boob 😂

@Lauralozzle that's the way! There is still hope and plenty of it! Very frustrating you can't call to check on them though. I'm hoping for a 5 day transfer so we could be going together again... nice to have you as a twin ☺️ it's awkward with work though... I'm like I may need Thursday off... or I may not... and if I have Thursday off I need Friday off to. My poor manager.

Sj2505 · 31/01/2023 12:41

@Lauralozzle one could go the distance, and so far you have double of those odds 💪🏼
I'm glad you're feeling more positive. I think we all have our moments.

@Autumbreeze hahaha! I remember years ago, I had to change into scrubs at work one day and someone said to me "you look good today" and I just looked at them and said "I look like a giant crayon" 😂

How are you both feeling today? Are you tender?
Hope you manage to enjoy your day off somewhat!

Lauralozzle · 31/01/2023 14:05

@Autumbreeze It’s great to have you as a twin lol!

@Sj2505 I’m ok. Bloated though, went for a walk to the shops and that was quite uncomfortable - best way I can describe it is like trapped wind pain, but lower down. Cramps seem to be worse after I pop in the pessaries but then go away. I was expecting to be much worse. I’m tired still (even though I slept for hours yesterday) but I probably could have done work today. Glad I have it off though, much prefer to rest.

Autumbreeze · 31/01/2023 14:31

@Sj2505 I'm quite sore on the right side... but as I think they had to push my ovary down, they did warn me before hand! I literally don't remember a thing from egg collection. I remember him putting the drugs in then I was goners 😂 I did say to him put me to sleep before it mind 🤣 but yeah I'm much more sore this time... which makes me think they didn't try for my right side last time and that's why they only got the two eggs 🤔
A giant crayon is a good description!

@Lauralozzle how often are you doing the pessaries? How are you finding them? TMI but yesterday and todays I've but up my butt as I'm to sore to go down there. 😂 the things we do!

Lauralozzle · 31/01/2023 14:53

@Autumbreeze I’m doing them up the front passage rather than back. I’ve only had a bit of spotting and it’s all brown now. So they’re 3 times a day 8 hours apart, so, 6:30, 2:30 and 10:30

I get a bit of cramping after they’ve been in for about ten minutes. they go up fine but quite a bit of discharge which is kinda gross!

Autumbreeze · 31/01/2023 15:06

@Lauralozzle yeah I remember the discharge 😂 worth it though. Last time I did three times a day... I'm doing twice a day this time.

MsSandyToes · 31/01/2023 18:00

@Autumbreeze 4 is fantastic, I also had the embryologist tell me there was a possibility of 2 being transferred if they didn't get any good quality ones and that was new to me too. Fingers crossed you get a top quality embaby and it's not an issue but it's lovely to know there are options if not.

@Lauralozzle I completely get why you were disappointed this morning but two is still really good and I've read so many stories of people who only got one good egg that then fertilised and made it all the way to be their baby. Try and stay positive and send all the positive vibes to the clinic.

@Sj2505 I found all the drugs made me emotional and tearful (and still are tbh - I've got massive moodswings now on the progesterone and 2ww worry boat!) Try and hang in there, I found taking a deep breath, biting my tongue and waiting for the urge to say something unproductive or bitchy to pass to be helpful 😂

User491 · 31/01/2023 20:51

@Sj2505 ours said to use protection in the lead up to egg collection but then didn't say anything else. I'm thinking if anything it's maybe been a late implanter.. but I have no idea... I can't get out my head that we go and there's lit nothing there 🤯😢

Mood wise I was actually pretty good to my own surprise 🤣 occasionally a little snappy by accident but that was all... but I think men are to blame for that anyways 😂 I did start to get really bad heads on the progesterone though, and that made me fed up ☹️

@Autumbreeze that's great news, and at least you have the option of 2 getting transferred 🥰 fingers crossed for more good news 🤞🏻

@Lauralozzle that's still positive news too! It's all crazy how it works, I had 6 mature and 5 fertilised but only the one made it for me. So hopefully the 2 of them make it and you get to keep one for the freezer 🤞🏻🙏

User491 · 31/01/2023 20:56

@Autumbreeze yeh bloods again tomorrow, and then a scan on Thursday 🤞🏻
The clinic can't really give me any info without the scan, although they did seem shocked it had gone up over double. Just got to pray for some good news 🙏
Aww your poor friend, is she ok?
I have googled so so much, and just can't find any situation like my own 😅 with the bleeding being a week ago on Sunday, and then not really having any more pain, and then my HCG going up close to doubling, along with it starting off so low... 2 sleeps til we hopefully find out a bit more 🤞🏻

Lauralozzle · 01/02/2023 16:21

How is everyone today?

I’m in a much better head space today. I’ve not been particularly productive at work but it’s given me something else to focus on today which has been a relief.

Sj2505 · 01/02/2023 17:12

Glad to hear you're all doing well.

@Autumbreeze are you expecting a day 3 call tomorrow?

@Lauralozzle really pleased you're feeling more positive.

@User491 fingers crossed for a high HCG today!

I was debating front or back for the pessaries.. I hate all the excess that comes away 😅 I assume you don't really get that with the back?
I vaguely think I did back the first time round, but I can't really remember the detailed bits!

I FINALLY start down regulation tomorrow morning!!! Yay!

Sj2505 · 01/02/2023 17:15

Sorry @MsSandyToes I missed my reply to you!
Glad I'm not the only one biting my tongue haha. I think it's calming down slightly, so I'm just worried that the meds tomorrow are going to turn me into a demon 😅
How are you feeling now?

Lauralozzle · 01/02/2023 17:20

@Sj2505 Tomorrow morning! That’s come around!! I’m excited for you!

Autumbreeze · 01/02/2023 17:34

@User491 she's really been struggling to be honest. Lucky the mediation worked for her so she didn't need an operation to remove anything. But she's found it very hard.
Hopefully tomorrow you'll get some positive answers 🤞🏻

@Sj2505 yes three day call tomorrow. Said they will call before 9am so I can let work know if I'll be in or not. How are you? Is tomorrow the start? The back end is a lot easier with the pessaries and I looked in to and it doesn't make a different which end you put it. It goes in and it's gone and I don't need to lay down for ages 😂

@MsSandyToes thank you. I'm quite nervous for the phone call tomorrow. How are you doing?

@Lauralozzle I'm glad you're feeling better today!

So first day back in work today and I've been quite uncomfortable. It's hard as my job is so physical and I'm on my feet a lot. Felt right dizzy lunch time but a little better now. Can't wait to get home to be honest. 11 hour day as well so I'm ready to chill.

Sj2505 · 01/02/2023 17:46

@Lauralozzle thank you, I can't wait! Are you booked for transfer?

@Autumbreeze oh exciting! Hopefully they're thriving 🤞🏼✨
Yup starting tomorrow, and they reduced my down reg to 5 days so I stop on Monday evening then hope for a swift AF to follow!

Autumbreeze · 01/02/2023 17:49

@Sj2505 sorry I just noticed you already out you are starting tomorrow! Very exciting!! It's all go now!!

Lauralozzle · 01/02/2023 17:59

@Sj2505 I should expect a message on portal tomorrow I think they said. Transfer isn’t booked yet, I’m guessing they’ll give me a time tomorrow. Trying not to think about it too much!

@Autumbreeze Ahh that sucks that you’ve not felt great. I know what you mean about uncomfortable. Bending over is quite painful, doing anything at pace is painful. I’m also getting very sharp pains that make me feel sick before a bowel movement. They leave me quite clammy. Better once I’ve gone though, until the next time.
