IVF cycle November 2022

HJen22 · 09/11/2022 13:18

Hi ladies

Just wondering if anyone is doing a cycle in November, looking for some cycle buddies.

I started stims yesterday, this is the 3rd cycle for us (2 NHS rounds where we didn't make it to transfer either time) and now we have signed up to a private a 3 cycle package with Create in Manchester. 3 egg collections and hopefully some embryo banking before and potential transfer. X

@Foreverhoping33 that's great news, congratulations!! 😃🎉. You can relax a bit now, my scan is also on the 29th lol. It's good to inject more positivity into this group that it can happen with some patience.

@RainbowRoad44 my test day was a Friday and on the Wednesday morning I saw very faint pink (not red) on tissue when wiping. It was there that lunchtime and evening but weirdly never happened again before test day, or ever since! I hope you're feeling ok. The wait is horrible.

@Crystal88 sorry I just realized I never answered your question.. I wouldn't say I've done anything special for IVF, no. My background in general: I'm 33, non-smoker, with BMI of 20ish, I'm a healthy eater anyway (lean meat, fish, fruit & veg) and very sporty (exercise 3-4 times a week), but stopped all sports when I started IVF. I'm not on any medication and the only supplements I took was folic acid. I have irregular cycles with suspected PCOS, I found out during my laparoscopy surgery for ectopic in Feb '22 that I have very mild endometriosis too!

Foreverhoping33 · 12/12/2022 14:39

Thanks all for your messages!

@Summerishere83 I have only done an at home pregnancy test not a blood test. Not sure my fertility clinic does this.

@Crystal88 so our main problem is MFI, this is our first IVF round but I did try and do certain things including:

  • folic acid, vitamin d and omega 3 every day
  • listened to mindful ivf every evening
  • Floss every day
  • day of transfer I had acupuncture and then tried to chill out/sit on sofa
  • day after transfer I had a long walk
  • trying to eat healthily and no alcohol
  • i was told the body follows the mind so I have tried to believe the ivf would be successful throughout tww (much easier said than done)
  • not to stress (again slightly impossible!)

hope this is helpful! Exciting that you are now moving on to next steps with your clinic! I hope 2023 is your year!

@Cat89 oh great that you have your scan on the same day! We can count down together. I’m already nervous haha

Hopewishprayer · 13/12/2022 07:38

@Foreverhoping33 congratulations! And not long until your scan 💕

Foreverhoping33 · 13/12/2022 18:10

Good luck for tomorrow @RainbowRoad44 let us know how you get on. Xxx

Cat89 · 13/12/2022 20:23

Good luck for tomorrow @RainbowRoad44. Will lbe thinking of you xx

RainbowRoad44 · 13/12/2022 20:36

Thank you both so much. I think I’m probably out because I’ve had very light spotting since yesterday morning. I think it’s AF but it’s being held back by the double pessaries dosage that they’ve given me since the bleeding started! But at least I’ll know for sure in the morning. Thanks for your messages xx

RainbowRoad44 · 14/12/2022 07:25

Hi, just wanted to update you it’s a BFN for me this morning. Feeling pretty gutted, but the blow was softened a bit as I was expecting this because of the light bleeding I’ve had. Hopefully we can try again with one of our two frozen ones in the New Year. Going to try to stay positive and enjoy Christmas, I’ve been soo healthy and so focused on ttc and ivf for so long now, I think I’m just going to try to relax and let my hair down a bit. Thank you for your support over the last week, I know I joined late but it’s been nice to know there are people who get it!

Really hope all the others on this thread who also got BFNs are managing to remain hopeful. And best of luck to you lucky few with your BFPs! X

Crystal88 · 14/12/2022 08:02

@RainbowRoad44 so sorry to hear it didn’t work , hopefully you can enjoy Christmas and 2023 will be your year. If at first you don’t succeed try try again 😀

we are all here for you xx

countrypunk · 14/12/2022 11:08

@RainbowRoad44 I'm really sorry. It's so hard. But it's great that you've got two in the freezer and can look forward to a lovely Christmas. I'm still off the sauce for now but v much looking forward to a Baileys on Christmas Eve! I'm also gonna eat loads of pate 😆

@Foreverhoping33 Massive congratulations to you, wonderful news! ♥️♥️♥️ it's lovely to hear of positive results.

I just had my follow up call with the clinic and we're going to do a natural FET in January. One thing that might be of interest: they're going to put me on Lubion injections as well as progesterone pessaries next time because apparently spotting before my period was due could indicate my levels weren't high enough. Thought that might be good to know for some of you...

Also, my doc told me that there's no difference in pregnancy rate between natural and medicated transfers if you have regular periods. But a friend of mine who's at the same clinic has regular periods and was advised to do a medicated transfer. So I'm not sure what to make of that. I will ask them of course, just wondering if anyone here has any insight?

Love to all Xmas Smile

countrypunk · 14/12/2022 11:09

'Baileys on Christmas Eve' = 👵🏼

Foreverhoping33 · 14/12/2022 11:58

@RainbowRoad44 im so sorry it was negative, I hope you are ok! A rest over Christmas sounds nice and hopefully 2023 will be your year! 🤞🤞

@countrypunk thanks for your message. Exciting that you are planning to go again, and interesting to hear about extra progesterone because of spotting last time. I hope it does the trick and you get a sticky embryo! Baileys at Christmas Eve sounds lovely! Xxx

RainbowRoad44 · 14/12/2022 12:08

Thanks all - yes 2023 WILL be our year! 🤞

@countrypunk thats really interesting, thanks for sharing. I always thought I might have low progesterone because I sometimes spot before period, and so when I the bleeding started before test day I kind of saw it coming. So thanks for sharing there is possibly a solution and I will definitely ask about it at our follow up consultation next week!

hopefully I will join you and a few others in this thread for a FET in January.

ps I love a baileys - great shout 😆

countrypunk · 14/12/2022 15:47

@RainbowRoad44 Glad it might be helpful 🙂 I feel much better after my follow up today knowing that we have a plan in place. I also had a counselling session today and that was great too. I've been getting a bit pissed off with my mum relentlessly telling me to be positive and the counsellor was very supportive of me managing my expectations and trying to be realistic about things. Which I know sounds negative but was actually very helpful! So I recommend having a session if your clinic offers it.

@Foreverhoping33 Thank you ♥️

Cat89 · 14/12/2022 20:03

@RainbowRoad44 aww I'm sorry it didn't work out this cycle love. I know it must have still felt upsetting getting the confirmation despite your inclination. Didn't realize you had another 2 in the freezer though, that's amazing!

@Crystal88 that's really great you're booked in already and can have something to look forward to now in the new year. Very interesting about the progesterone! My consultant had cautioned me beforehand and told me not to get upset if cycle 1 didn't work as the odds are it won't and people can need multiple attempts before achieving success. Also, that each cycle is used to learn info and they adapt medication and timings next time from what they learnt before. It's just annoying we have to be patient and go through the process and deal with the rollercoaster of emotions that comes with it 😬.

I liked the leaflet my clinic gave which said to accept it's an upsetting and stressful process, don't try to fight those feelings and accept it's ok to feel that way x

Cat89 · 18/12/2022 20:07

@Foreverhoping33 hey! Just wondering how you're doing? Do you have any pregnancy symptoms yet? I'm not really feeling any different still, don't like it!😬

Will everyone else be giving updates on their next cycle here, or on a new thread? Would love to follow your journeys x

HJen22 · 18/12/2022 20:26

Sorry ladies I haven't been keeping up, my Dad hasn't been well and was in hospital for 5 days, but home now 💙

@Foreverhoping33 huge congratulations on your BFP 💕 such lovely news! How are you feeling?

@Summerishere83 welcome ❤️ how has your week went? Sending all the love and luck for your cycle! We are doing a 3 cycle package too and down for the second cycle in the new year x

@RainbowRoad44 I am so sorry it didn't work for you this time. I really hope you are doing ok, can enjoy Christmas and get going with an FET in the new year. I am doing the same and trying to relax for the next few weeks before we get going again x

@Crystal88 I hope 2023 brings us all the luck 🫶🏻🤞🏻 how are things with you?

@countrypunk that's great news you've spoken to the clinic about your FET in January! I think it will be January before we know it and time for a few of us to go again. I am really happy to hear you had a helpful counselling session, I am all for it, take all the support you can. I love my counsellor who was from my nhs clinic and I still talk to, she's been absolutely amazing. She always reminds me my feelings are valid x

@HJen22 glad your dad is home and feeling better. I keep thinking about starting some form of counselling so glad to hear a few people finding it useful

@Cat89 hope you are doing well! I would definitely love to keep hearing about everyone’s journeys as I find it very helpful & it gives me lots of hope

Foreverhoping33 · 19/12/2022 07:41

@Cat89 no I don’t feel any different either really. I agree it’s not nice, I would much prefer to have really bad morning sickness just to have the confirmation everything is progressing!
can’t wait for the scan next week to get further information but i will only be 6+5 at that point so not sure if we will hear a heartbeat which I think could lead me to worry more than not….
how are you getting on?

@HJen22 im so sorry to hear your dad was in hospital! Glad he is out now and I hope on the mend!
i agree with Christmas January will be here before you know it and then can start your second round! Have you decided if you will do a transfer after the second round or wait it out to do all three?

HJen22 · 19/12/2022 08:58

Thank you both! Was a worrying week but I'm just so glad he's home now and hopefully feeling much more himself soon!

@LF82 it really was one of the best things I have done. And I have tried A LOT whilst TTC! So I would highly recommend counselling. And if it's not for you after a session you don't need to do any more.

@Foreverhoping33 yes we're going to do a transfer along with cycle 2!! I'm not sure how it works in will there be different meds or just progesterone after collection? And I'm not sure if they'd go for a fresh or if there was a better frozen embryo, use that (I guess so) I'm going to email in the new year and ask all these questions and maybe we'll get a Dr consultation before we go back down, but if not I'm sure they'll explain all when we go. I have never ever done a transfer so to say I'm chomping at the bit is an understatement haha. Scary but also such a huge milestone for us to finally get to that point. Xx

@HJen22
sorry to hear about your dad

i was feeling good and positive for 2023

but today I have started to bleed again, I have already had 6 day period which ended last Monday and now I am bleeding again

mega confusing, I am going to ring the clinic later to see if they can shed any light on it why I am bleeding as it’s totally come out the
blue

I have been having sex but not sure if I have over done it 🙄

has anyone else had two period so close together xx

Hopewishprayer · 20/12/2022 08:32

@HJen22 sorry to hear that your dads been unwell and glad that he is home and on the mend!

we have a consultation in January at LWC Darlington to move forward with DE, I am feeling positive this is the change we need and a little relieved we have made this decision as I can’t go through any more cycles with the highs and lows after 4 times it’s enough for me.

HJen22 · 20/12/2022 12:43

@Crystal88 thank you! Oh no sorry to hear you're bleeding again, how many days was that between periods? I hope you managed to get hold of your clinic.

@Hopewishprayer thank you! Really happy to hear you're feeling positive. Completely understand the highs and lows are so tough. With our 2 cycles and no transfer these 3 cycles were our last attempt with my own eggs. I've emailed the clinic today for some info re going ahead with a transfer with next cycle etc. Looking forward to Xmas but also going again in the new year, as I'm sure a lot of us feel xx

OP posts:
Crystal88 · 20/12/2022 12:48

@HJen22 was 7 days between bleeding. Clinic said the first bleed was possible the failed pregnancy. where as this one could possible be my normal period, but like 2 weeks early. She said hopefully it should sort its self out. i have my treatment end review on 30th December so hopefully i will get more answers xx

countrypunk · 21/12/2022 10:33

@HJen22 I'm sorry to hear about your dad, I'm glad he's home now and hope you're all looking forward to Christmas 🎄

It sounds like most of us who had a negative test this cycle have at least a vague plan in place for 2023 which is great. I'm really trying to temper my expectations for the FET because the embryo is pretty low grade. But I know poor embryos can and do result in pregnancies. We'll see...

Good luck to the pregnant women with scans coming up very soon, so exciting!

Happy Christmas to all. I hope everyone keeps updating the thread so we can continue supporting each other.

♥️♥️♥️

Cat89 · 28/12/2022 13:02

Hi everyone.
Hope you all had a good Xmas and managed to relax a bit! Sorry not replied for a while..

@HJen22 Sorry to hear that your Dad was unwell. I hope he's been ok since?

@Foreverhoping33 how have you been, and how are you feeling for the week 6 scan tomorrow? Exciting, nervous? ☺️

My scan is tomorrow morning and if I'm honest am dreading it in case it's a bad outcome 😔. I've had relentless headaches the last few days but otherwise none of the "typical" pregnancy symptoms of sore boobs, morning sickness or urge to pee. Think I've just convinced myself it's not progressed. We'll find out tomorrow I guess! X
