IVF cycle November 2022

HJen22 · 09/11/2022 13:18

Hi ladies

Just wondering if anyone is doing a cycle in November, looking for some cycle buddies.

I started stims yesterday, this is the 3rd cycle for us (2 NHS rounds where we didn't make it to transfer either time) and now we have signed up to a private a 3 cycle package with Create in Manchester. 3 egg collections and hopefully some embryo banking before and potential transfer. X

@HJen22 thats fantastic news, so happy to hear your news! Did you do anything differently this round? My first round had no transfer, 2nd and 3rd just one and 4th will know soon! But I am interested as I usually have low numbers and so any insight may be useful 😊 x

HJen22 · 24/11/2022 08:05

@Hopewishprayer yes it was a completely different protocol! Our first two were NHS cycles where I was on max stims 300ui. Our new private clinic Create specialise in milf IVF. So I was on 150ui of bemfola. I also had double trigger and a few days of double cetroride, From day 5 I had 4 monitoring scans on day 5, 8, 9 and 10 and bloods taken those days too. I also did collection on day12 (my last rounds were day 15 and day 16, the day 15 cycle we had a trigger issue long story, day 16 cycle I had to stim for longer because I only had 2 follicles of the right size - but resulted in 0 eggs). I believe all the scans and close monitoring of my hormone levels meant they were able to really keep an eye on me and when best to go to collection. From Day 5 I had a dominant follicle that was close to already being the right size. So it then turned into a waiting game for the rest to catch up.

We went to Create so that we could try something completely different. And if it didn't work then we'd known we'd tried our best with different protocols. NHS were not able to offer us our 3rd cycle (Scotland) and we are on the donor waiting list as a back up.

@HJen22 i know what you mean, my other half suffers from anxiety so it was hard to talk to him about how i am feeling, as i dont want to affect him. I know i have to be strong for both of us :)

im with create too so yes there is counselling service available i might use it

otherwise this forum is good for me too

thank you for positive vibes , much appreciated xx

Hopewishprayer · 24/11/2022 08:23

@HJen22 thank you for sharing that is good to know, I am also Scotland and nhs feel like they just keep me on same protocol and when it doesn’t work they say just need to do same again and hope for different outcome! This is last nhs round so trying to formulate a backup plan if this round is not successful so this is very helpful x

countrypunk · 24/11/2022 08:25

@HJen22 That's such wonderful news. Congratulations, and happy Christmas! ♥️💕 Also very interesting to read about your change of protocol and the impact it's had.

I'm at my mum's and my family is descending tomorrow - brother plus partner and baby daughter, and sister. So it'll be a full house. My niece is a ray of sunshine 🙂

@Crystal88 Agree - it's great reading about everyone's different experiences, and you're all so supportive. This thread has been amazing.

@Hopewishprayer I hope your soreness lessens today. Are you very bloated? I found I was up until this morning actually, so just over a week from EC. I think it can take a week or so for your ovaries to deflate (that's the technical term 😁). Hopefully it won't be long till you're right as rain.

HJen22 · 24/11/2022 08:31

@Hopewishprayer you're very welcome! Here for any questions any time! I know, It's a shame cos I know they have limited funds and it is amazing you can have up to three in Scotland. But it just isn't always a one size fits all sadly. I can't fault them for how lovely they were but the max dose stims just didn't work for me. I know that's not to say that every private round would go as well, but to have had something from one means the world to me! I hope you don't have to consider it and this round is the round ❤️

I was also very bloated even with a small number retrieved. And tmi but my toilet visits were not the same as usual. I feel better today almost one week on. So I hope you feel less sore and bloated soon! Plenty rest x

@countrypunk thank you 🥰 oh how lovely, a nice distraction. And always nice to be with your mum and looked after 💕 I am looking forward to seeing my two nephews this weekend, they always make me happy 💙💙

Thanks everyone. Am still quite sore but nothing too dreadful. Have stayed off work which is really unlike me, but think the emotions of everything have hit hard, and sometimes it's hard to face a classroom full of little people if you're not on top form. Feel properly guilty though.

Very grateful to have high numbers, though I suspect our drop off rate will be high tomorrow as we have MFI. We actually have an 8yo who was conceived naturally but is maybe some kind of miracle child 🤦‍♀️😂 but I do wonder if my fertility being ok for my age has helped with the numbers. Who knows.

@Hopewishprayer wishing you all the luck with your day 3 update tomorrow, will be thinking of you.

@Crystal88 im sorry you're not feeling too positive, sending lots of love and luck.

@HJen22 huge congrats on getting your other two embryos added to the freezer! Must be a huge relief. Really do hope you get to enjoy a lovely Christmas this year.

@countrypunk I hope you're doing ok and not going quietly mad in the TWW!

Love this thread. It's really kept me going at times over the last couple of weeks. Thank you everyone 💕

countrypunk · 24/11/2022 08:45

@ohsohopeful I know it's hard, but don't feel guilty. The kids will be fine and you must look after yourself. As we all know, this process is physically and emotionally demanding. If you need time out from stressful work, take it.

I'm not feeling too bonkers. I've been stuffing my face with my mum's delicious cooking which is helping!

countrypunk · 24/11/2022 08:56

@HJen22 My bottom habits are also off key! Still! Probs the progesterone...

Crystal88 · 24/11/2022 09:23

thank you all for positive vibes

i have one grade 1 embryo being put back in this afternoon

i was in tears when they rang

other one is being accessed Saturday but they don't think it will be any good
has it fragmented

but it only takes one :)

ohsohopeful · 24/11/2022 09:44

@Crystal88 that's fantastic news 💕 best of luck this afternoon to you and your little embryo x

HJen22 · 24/11/2022 09:52

@ohsohopeful don't feel guilty at all. Some time off work is definitely a good idea, and with a job like yours you can't just sit and hide behind a computer. I'm glad you listened to it our body and mind and took the break. Work will wait and the little people will be fine until you are back ❤️ thank you so much, it is very much a huge relief!

@Crystal88 oh I am absolutely delighted for you 💕💕💕 that's the best news! It really does only take one! The calls are so emotional aren't they! The embryologists must be used to it. All the very best for transfer this afternoon. I am so so happy you have a grade 1 embryo ❤️ xxx

countrypunk · 24/11/2022 10:16

@Crystal88 🥳♥️ Hooray! So thrilled for you! It's very hard - if not impossible - to keep it together during those calls isn't it.

Hope you can relax slightly now. Xx

Hopewishprayer · 24/11/2022 10:27

@Crystal88 amazing! Good luck with the transfer ❤️
@countrypunk im no really bloated more crampy, I had to go into office yesterday which was day immediately after retrieval so probably not gave myself time to recover, working from home today though so that’s good 😊
@HJen22 absolutely agree the clinic in Glasgow they are amazing! Yes hopefully I don’t need a plan b 🤞🏻

countrypunk · 24/11/2022 10:29

@Hopewishprayer Yes it's a bit sore isn't it. I think rest is key so don't work too hard (I'm not 😆).

countrypunk · 24/11/2022 10:30

@Crystal88 Come back and update us after transfer! ♥️

Crystal88 · 24/11/2022 10:32

@countrypunk will do just getting ready to go out :)

thank you everyone for your good luck, much appreciated :)

Crystal88 · 24/11/2022 14:42

Transfer all done, I was desperate for wee and had to wait so they let me half empty my bladder, still had full enough bladder for procedure which doctor said went straight forward

been given a test date of 7/12 and pregnancy test so now it just waiting

I was too focused on having wee the doctor said that there are foods to avoid and foods which I should eat, but I didn’t pay any attention 😬

any other tips on what I should and shouldn’t do

currently relaxing in bed watching tv while other half going to cook me some tea xx

Nikster8012 · 24/11/2022 14:54

Hopewishprayer · 24/11/2022 15:45

@Crystal88 oh wow half empty your bladder that’s a skill 😂 enjoy relaxing and take it easy over next 2 weeks, I think foods to avoid are things you would avoid in pregnancy.
@Nikster8012 that’s amazing hope that your embryo is a sticky one!

Cat89 · 24/11/2022 20:54

Hi all.
Joining this thread as lovely to see all your msgs. Good luck to those in their TWW and those in stimulation phase or waiting on post EC updates.

This is my first IVF cycle and had EC yesterday. 10 eggs collected and found out this morning 8 were mature but only 3 fertilized. I've been feeling really down that only 3 fertilized, feels like a big drop? I'm praying the 3 are good'uns and will be still going on D3 update on Saturday 🤞.
I told myself I'm going to be cool and calm throughout the process but that went out the window this morning and I've been anything but calm lol! 🙈 X

ohsohopeful · 24/11/2022 21:19

Welcome @Cat89, I think this might be the most supportive and lovely thread I've ever been on 🥰 Fingers crossed your 3 fertilised eggs are fabulous ones and that you get a good day 3 update. This waiting bit is horrendous isn't it. The embryologist I spoke to the day after mine advised me to think of it exactly like a natural cycle, she said really they want to see the numbers drop because it leaves only the best of the bunch. Makes sense but the drop off is still really disheartening.

Has anyone else had really bad pain 2 days after egg collection? I felt fine yesterday but today has been awful, like having to breathe through the pain kind of awful. It's like a combination of the worst period pain ever plus really bad trapped wind - wondering if it's linked to post-sedative constipation? Grim, sorry! Clinic said normal and to see how I feel tomorrow. Have literally spent all day clutching a hot water bottle and breathing a lot 😂

Hope everyone is doing ok x

Manc80 · 24/11/2022 22:46

Hi all. Good to see lots of positive EC and fertilisation stories- sending lots of love ❤️

@CNizzle I’m with you 💔 our OTD on Tues gave the confirmed BFN to follow the early test last Friday so also feeling all the emotions but enjoying the wine this week after 2 failed rounds and 5 months of sobriety.

Will be keeping an eye on the thread and hoping to see some IVF success stories and as many BFP’s as possible.

Stay strong and thank you @HJen22 for this wonderful and supportive thread 💕

countrypunk · 24/11/2022 23:21

@Crystal88 Congratulations on your transfer. Also I'm impressed with both your bladder filling skills and your controlled peeing skills 😁 Relaxing sounds good, and being cooked for even better.

@Nikster8012 Congratulations to you too! Hope your long car journey didn't drag too much and that you enjoyed a nice snooze.

Welcome @Cat89 It's my first cycle too 🙂 It can be disheartening when the numbers drop but as you've seen on this thread, every story is different and a lower fertilisation rate doesn't equal no or bad quality blastocysts. Good luck for your call on Saturday ♥️

@ohsohopeful I had some pain which felt like bad trapped wind (maybe it was? I was farting loads) but definitely not as bad as yours sounds. Hope you feel better tomorrow. Take it easy ♥️

@Manc80 I'm so sorry to read your update. I hope you're as OK as can be. Definitely enjoy some lovely booze, that's exactly what I'll be doing if I get a negative next week. Sending lots of love back to you ♥️

Hopewishprayer · 25/11/2022 06:58

@ohsohopeful i have also had a hot water bottle stick to me constantly, EC was Tue and still rather sore - usually I am fine the next day. Hopefully it settles soon, my DH has been sick with a bug this week and I am feeling like I might be starting to have that too 😞

I have saw every hour of the clock this morning today is day 3 update - when I did sleep I was dreaming that I couldn’t answer the call my phone was broken and then another dream I couldn’t hear what they were telling me 🙈
