Hi all, I’m day 2 of my first ever ivf cycle starting injections tomorrow. I wondered if anyone else was in the same position. Thought it might be nice to buddy up if people would find that helpful. I’m the only one in my friendship group going through this and as lush as they all are I don’t think they truly understand xx

@Nora11 did you get your day 2 update? I hope you got good news!

APSR · 23/10/2022 17:33

@IVFing84
in my first cycle my egg to follicle ratio was extremely low . I had 10 follicles before retrieval but on egg collection got only 3 eggs and ended with one 4AA blastocyst supposedly the beat quality but failed to implant in fet. That’s why my consultant didn’t proceed when I gotjust 6 follicles

Nora11 · 23/10/2022 17:38

Thank you@Spink2022, my call came not long after posting! From 10 mature eggs we now have 5 embryos so hoping for 2 or maybe even 3 blastocysts ready for transfer on Wednesday 🤞 that must have been such a shock to only get the 3 eggs after expecting more but it's great that 2 of them fertilised! I really hope both of them make it! 🤞

Spink2022 · 23/10/2022 17:46

@Nora11 5 embryos is brilliant! Congratulations! Will you get another update before transfer or is that it? Are you doing a day 5 transfer?

thank you! I had totally given up but when I found out we had 2 with 8 cells im feeling much more hopeful we will have 1 tomorrow 🤞🤞 my transfer is at 11am and they said they would only call before if there were any problems when they check tomorrow morning so I’m going to be watching my phone like a hawk and praying it doesn’t ring!

Nobabyyet20 · 24/10/2022 08:59

Sorry I’ve been quiet guys, really struggled after my EC became quite unwell and have only started feeling myself. We have 4 embryos in storage and now I just have to be patient which I’m not good at!!! Hope everyone’s okay xx

Thanks @Spink2022 ❤️ we won't get another update until Wednesday/transfer day morning now which seems like forever! But I guess what will happen will happen no matter when we find out about it, so trying to just be patient and hope the next couple of days go quick. 🤞

Fingers crossed for no phone calls for you this morning and a successful transfer!

@Nobabyyet20 sorry to hear youve been feeling unwell! Are you on the mend now? 4 embryos is great!! But completely understand it must look like such a long wait ahead 😫 have they told you when you might be able to do the FET?

Spink2022 · 24/10/2022 12:19

@Nora11 i had my d5 transfer today. 2 made it but were a little behind and not quite blastocysts so they transferred both! 🙏🙏🙏

Sezzza · 25/10/2022 10:57

Hi, I hope you don’t mind me joining. I have been following you all from the start of your journeys which has been super helpful!
I had my EC yesterday and they retrieved 5 eggs, 4 of which have fertilised over night. I was wondering if anyone could please give me some insight as to how they decide either a 3 day or 5 day transfer? Trying so hard to stay relaxed about the whole process but it’s almost impossible 😆 x

Nora11 · 28/10/2022 12:29

Hi everyone, sorry I did try to post a few days ago but for some reason it didn't work and I couldn't be bothered to type everything out again!

@Spink2022 congratulations on your transfer! Hopefully you have 1 or maybe even 2 little ones growing away now! How are you feeling?

I am now 2dp5dt! Waiting for the call on the morning of transfer day I was so anxious but luckily they rang early! In the morning they had 1 high quality blastocyst to transfer and another that was a bit behind but they thought may be good enough to freeze later on/the next day. By the time I got there though, I actually ended up with 2 frozen! 1 good quality and another poorer but still worth a chance. I was already feeling emotional so that news had me in tears as I had resigned myself to having none to freeze.

The transfer was really straightforward, went for McDonald's after of course! Now we wait... I told myself I wasn't going to Google anything as I know there's no reliable signs/symptoms really but I still.havent been able to stop myself 🙈

@Sezzza have you had any updates on your embryos? Hope all is going well!

Spink2022 · 28/10/2022 12:39

@Nora11 congratulations on such brilliant news! What a relief it must be to have been able to freeze some!

1 week from testing now. I’m trying not to symptom spot but also it’s really bloody hard not to!

im so so hungry, got loads of spots, an achy lower back and some twinges. I’m trying really hard not to think that my test will be positive or negative.

how are you doing?

Sezzza · 28/10/2022 22:33

@Nora11 I go in for my 5d transfer tomorrow morning. When they called me on d3, we had three grade 2 embies and one grade 3. I am not sure if that’s good but tbh I am grateful to have any! Your transfer sounds as if it went amazingly well…2 in the freezer, you must be so happy! Is it a tradition to go for a Maccas after transfer? I have been trying so hard to be healthy so any excuse for a delicious Big Mac 😂.

@Spink2022 you are so close and all sounding very promising! What date are you aiming to test?

Spink2022 · 28/10/2022 22:41

@Sezzza 4th November is my OTD and I’m not going to test before then. I don’t want a false result.

good luck for you transfer tomorrow!

Sezzza · 30/10/2022 07:55

How is everyone feeling? I had my transfer yesterday which went well. A little sore for the rest of the day but I think having a very full bladder was the worst part. Did you guys have lots of little twinges afterwards?

Nora11 · 30/10/2022 11:51

Congratulations @Sezzza on your transfer! I also found having a full bladder and the ultrasound scanner pressing down on it the worst bit! 🥺 I didn't have any twinges myself but I think it is quite normal to! It's 4 days since mine and I've been having period like cramps since about the second day. Hoping it is implantation related not just from the progesterone!

As for the McDonald's, it is a superstition to get their fries after a transfer! I think it has its roots in the fact sometimes people are recommended to eat salty food to help prevent OHSS. I'm sure it doesn't do anything in reality but any excuse! 😋

A week today will be my test day! 😱 By the way has anyone else used the Mindful IVF app? I downloaded their 2WW package as there are different meditations that take you through all the different days... I thought it would be a nice way to see the time passing and try and relax. I've been listening before bed but usually fall fast asleep before the end 😂 I guess that's not a bad thing!

Spink2022 · 30/10/2022 14:08

I’m 6dp5dt now. Lots of spots and twingy lower back. I did have a couple of days of slight twinges but im sure im noticing everything. Im definitely really hungry and exhausted all the time. I keep needing to nap but I think that’s just from the process and medication tbh. Im not convinced it has or hasn’t worked. Only 5 days til test day now though so halfway through. I havnt had any spotting or anything like that.

Sezzza · 30/10/2022 15:30

Thanks @Nora11 ! It was a relief to have one put away safely. I had a phone call from the embryologist this morning about my 3 remaining embryos. There was one 4cc and two that were even worse. He gave us the option to freeze it but after weighing up the cost, and also the lower chances of a successful pregnancy, we decided not to. If this one doesn’t work, I think I’ll do the whole process again with hopefully better results from the stims.

The mediation sounds fab! I might look at getting it. I’ve been using ones from YouTube for positive thinking. Your symptoms sound very promising!!

@Spink2022 all your symptoms also sound really promising! You have some serious willpower not to test early. I am going to try my best to also hold off.

Spink2022 · 30/10/2022 19:10

@Sezzza when’s your OTD?

tbh I wouldn’t take a test without my DH and we’ve got the day off Friday to test and deal with the results so I’ve got good reason to wait. I’m quite happy in my blissful ignorance at the moment 😂 I’m enjoying the fact the I might be pregnant and that I don’t have to do a lot 😂

i know this seems to be the opposite of what others have said but I found the stims stage significantly harder than the Tww. I’m trying not to read into symptoms as I know they’re because of the progesterone and just going with the flow. I’m sure Thursday evening I’ll be struggling to sleep!

Sezzza · 31/10/2022 16:04

@Spink2022 its on the 9th of November. Like you said, I am also quite enjoying being in a bubble of not knowing. At least then you can pretend everything is all good 😂.

How are you feeling??

Spink2022 · 31/10/2022 16:15

@Sezzza have you made any plans for 9th. Taken the day off etc?

im totally wiped! Hoping it’s a good sign 😂 how are you feeling? It’s he’s not to symptom spot isn’t it

Sezzza · 31/10/2022 16:26

@Spink2022 i actually have Thursdays off so it’s worked out perfectly! I hadn’t really thought what to do. Have you got anything nice planned? Is your date this Thursday?? Wiped out, sounds super promising!! It’s so funny because usually being wiped out would suck 😂😂. I haven’t felt anything today. I’m trying not to over analyse but it’s almost impossible 😩 xx

Spink2022 · 31/10/2022 16:56

@Sezzza it really is impossible. I think the exhaustion could be the progrestrone as well though. I have to keep reminding myself that it’s all side effects!

mine is Friday so only a few more days to go. I think we’re going to go for lunch at a Greek restaurant and just do some nice things whatever the result.

Sezzza · 31/10/2022 18:02

@Spink2022 ive just realised I’ve got my dates/day wrong next week. My head has gone 😂. My OTD is actually next Wednesday! So far I only have 1 client booked in for that day so may just try and move it to another day so I have the day off.

Your plans sound lovely, what a great idea. This is my first round too. A big gutted we didn’t get one in the freeze but grateful all the same to have one safely inside. You had two didn’t you?

Spink2022 · 31/10/2022 19:13

@Sezzza that would be good so you could do something nice for the day with no pressure to see or speak to anyone if you don’t want to.

yea I had 2 transferred but they hadnt made it to blastocyst. I’m surprised they put 2 back because I’m only 29 and I didn’t think they liked to do that. It would have been a miracle if we had one to freeze after I only had 3 eggs so I’m grateful to still be in with a chance! I REALLY hope it works because I don’t want to go through the whole process from scratch again. It hit my really hard this time round and i got loads of cysts. we only get 2 rounds on nhs so the next would be our last. Are you on nhs? How many do you get?

Sezzza · 01/11/2022 09:29

@Spink2022 how are you? I got woken up by some weird sensations last night, almost like an electric shock. I’m only 3dp5dt so not sure if too early for symptoms. Of course I’m hoping it’s implantation!

This is our first round but unfortunately don’t qualify for NHS as I already have a 10 year old daughter. She was conceived naturally when I was 26. I’m no longer with her dad. My OH (now) has normal sperm so not sure why it’s been so difficult for us. We’ve been TTC for over 2 years now with no luck. If we were younger, we would probably just keep trying naturally but time is no longer on our side as I’ve just turned 38. I have a history of endo so may have something to do with it.

Which clinic are you with?

Spink2022 · 01/11/2022 09:49

@Sezzza oohh fingers crossed that’s implantation!!! im just totally wiped! Had to take paracetamols for continuous headaches. There seems to be no link between symptoms and pos or neg preg test but I can’t help reading into it all.

only a couple more days to wait for me! The second week definitely seems to be harder.

we’re with TFP Oxford. I’ve got endo too. Have you had a laparoscopy to investigate it a bit more? Which clinic are you with? How have they been?
