I’m private uk and on the form for transfer there was def a choice of 1/2/3 but my consultant had strongly recommended 1 and said chances are better with 2 single transfers than 1 double so it would give me best chance with what I had frozen. They are also very against multiple pregnancies so I guess that’s why. My fear of putting 2 in is that they’d both take and split and I’d end up with quads haha.

but yeah def was an option so may be worth messaging them to ask first before commiting to anything

Lisabrown88 · 28/05/2022 10:30

@LT103 thanks so much. I just called ABC IVF and they said its a legal requirement to only put 1 so im getting confused with them. Also they mentioned the cost of the medication for frozen transfer is about £100, but another clinic told me its about £1k to 2k. Doesnt make sense for it to vary so much since we get the medication ourselves from the pharmacy??

So I’m doing a frozen transfer and costa were explained to me. My clinic pushes for natural cycle if you ovulate regularly so I had bloods every 48hrs to pick up ovulation then at transfer I had an injection of ovitrelle and that was that so our meds were only £40 and transfer was included in our freeze all package. But if we had needed a medicated cycle it’s about £400-600 I think to do up til test date but if you get a positive you need to keep taking progesterone for 12 weeks so it can end up almost £2000

you can source the meds elsewhere but my clinic has a £250 private prescription fee so prob not worth it

Iliada · 28/05/2022 11:38

@Lisabrown88 I would say that you would need to talk to a clinic in Spain very carefully about putting back more than 1 embryo at a time, especially at your age which will appear relatively young to Spanish fertility doctors.

I have had all my treatment in Spain and in my experience they really do not encourage two embryo transfers in patients under 40 as their aim is always to do everything possible to get you a baby but to avoid a multiple birth and the possibility of brain damage or worse (the percentage of twins who are born prematurely with serious health issues is much higher than in single births).

For this reason, genetic testing of embryos is very common in Spain as they prefer not to transfer embryos which cannot implant or would result in a severely handicapped or terminally ill child, as many Spanish fertility patients would not consider a TFMR or in some cases would not get support from their older family members if they did.

So you would need to be very clear with them beforehand about transferring two.

Iliada · 28/05/2022 11:46

@Lisabrown88 @Zest11 Also, I’m really sorry we are in the same boat. I was hoping to see down good news for other people here this morning. :(

Iliada · 28/05/2022 11:47

some good news. Even my predictive text is a bit sad today.

Fertilityjourney · 28/05/2022 12:47

@Iliada @LT103 @Lisabrown88 it all seems to vary so much! My meds before egg collection were just under £2k. I did hear that if you just ask for the prescription and source the drugs yourself from a supermarket they are around £1k. My progesterone and oestrogen meds in the lead up to frozen transfer was £230.
What is the name of the Spanish company?

Lisabrown88 · 28/05/2022 17:57

We need some good news in the chat haha surely someone got a BFP pleaaase :)

Yea @Iliada maybe I should just stick to one. I just find it so frustrating after going through all of it for 1 embryo which may not stick. I know they say the chances of 2 embryos is same as 1 chance but how come everywhere else in the world does 2 or 3 except the UK, dont get it.

Thanks all for confirming the costs, I called ABC iVF and they said again that the medication shouldnt cost more than £200 to £300 so this sounds good if its actually true. I saw some reviews that they are really good as well?!

Actually just read some terrible reviews of ABC IVF, im confused now. Has anyone had any experience with them especially the Wimbledon branch?

Zest11 · 28/05/2022 19:46

@Lisabrown88 The price for a FET is similar for me as @LT103 Around 1500 for the transfer, scans etc and then the drugs on top of that. This is south west though, not London. And LWC has a good reputation. I had buserelin, progynova and crinone gel. I think they were just over £200 but if I got pregnant then would need more crinone. I don't know how much a new egg collection etc would be as we have embryos left over from an NHS egg collection. I'm not sure about having two embryos transferred as clinics are keen to avoid multiples due to risks.

Zest11 · 28/05/2022 19:47

@Lisabrown88 how many transfers have you had already?

hollyhd · 28/05/2022 20:33

Hi @Lisabrown88 , so sorry to hear that this cycle didn't take 😞. I'm with ABC but St Paul's clinic. I posted earlier on this thread, I had my FET 12 days ago and got my BFP earlier this week!

We like ABC overall and think they are very good for the price. The medication is relatively cheap - oestrogen tablets and progesterone pessaries only. I got mine from Asda, ABC didn't charge for the prescription. A month of oestrogen is around £5, progesterone is £20 something.

I don't think we've had poorer service than some of the more expensive clinics I've read about. You see nurse consultants, rarely a doctor, but they've all been great. On the other hand communication from the office is not great, but that will prob vary by clinic.

There is a lot less testing and monitoring then other clinics, and I'm not sure how personalised the protocols are, so it's not for everyone.

They do have regular virtual info evenings so you could always check them out there first!

Zest11 · 28/05/2022 21:05

@hollyhd Congratulations on your bfp! I'm sure I read somewhere that with ABC, your AMH had to be above a certain level. Is that still the case do you know?

hollyhd · 29/05/2022 08:05

@Zest11 They actually never measured my AMH at all. I think they determine egg reserve by antral follicle count at the baseline scan - I could be wrong but I think they said 12 was the minimum.

Thanks for the congrats!

XjustagirlX · 29/05/2022 13:29

Im on 9dp5dt and I had a bit of brown black spotting. It was like a little clot sorry tmi. I’m think this is a bad sign and it hasn’t worked.

i didn’t get any blood or spotting with my other 2 failed FETs.

Fertilityjourney · 30/05/2022 06:03

Morning all, BFN for me this morning after the longest two weeks ever!! I did suspect this would be the result from quite early on. Just figuring out if I want to go through it all again or wether to quit ?

@Zest11 huge congratulations :) !!!

XjustagirlX · 30/05/2022 10:25

@Fertilityjourney im so sorry to hear that.

i decided to take a free this morning on 10dp5dt. I have just got the faintest positive ever. Me and my husband couldn’t actually see it at first as it is so faint.

mas it’s so faint and I’ve had a bit of spotting it is feeling very much like my chemical.

im not sure what to do now. Annoyingly I threw my FMU away so I can’t confirm on a clearblue digital.

XjustagirlX · 30/05/2022 10:59

Also I’ve just realised what if it is still the trigger?

Fertilityjourney · 30/05/2022 12:23

@XjustagirlX it’s just so hard to tell!! Symptoms no symptoms, I just had a gut instinct x
keeping everything crossed for you x

LT103 · 30/05/2022 13:03

So I tested early at 7dpt and got a line but it was much fainter next day so I guess that was the ovitrelle injection.
bloods tomorrow but I’ve started spotting so I think I’m out! 😭

XjustagirlX · 30/05/2022 14:06

@LT103 how much hcg was in your trigger?

ive just had a brainwave. I was given 5000 gonasi. The trigger generally has a half life of 1 day. So the 5000 trigger should be gone after 10 days. Which I assumed was today being 10dp5dt. But I forgot I actually did my trigger 6 days before the transfer so I was stupidly counting 10 days from transfer instead of trigger. It has been 16 days since my trigger. That’s an error window of 60% so it’s probably not my trigger.

it could still be a chemical though which I think is the most likely scenario.

Lisabrown88 · 30/05/2022 20:31

@Zest11 this was my first transfer as the doctors couldnt carry on after my fresh cycle.

Thanks all for sharing information on medication prices! @hollyhd congratssss thats amazing, its great to hear some positive news haha. Seems quite a few of us got a BFN :( @Fertilityjourney urgh so sorry to hear, really heartbreaking seeing that clear screen with no positive line. Gosh this is much harder than I thought.

Did anyone else take time off? Ive had to completely sign off work, its so hard i definitely cant focus at all.

Decided to switch to CREATE from my existing clinic, i couldnt use ABC as im bringing in embryos from another clinic. Its the same clinic as ABC anyway just higher costs and I think has more use of doctors.

Zest11 · 30/05/2022 21:09

@Lisabrown88 Oh it's so hard when it doesn't work. I had a bit of time off after my first transfer. I found this website really helped me plan for the next cycle. Arghh it won't let me paste but if you type on Google "Agate's guide to failed IVF" there's a really informative post. I really hope the next cycle works for you. For what it's worth I was utterly devastated after my first transfer failed but then the second took (resulted in my son). My recent transfer was for a sibling and it failed. I don't think there's any rhythm or rhyme as we did exactly the same this time as we did for my son. Xx

XjustagirlX · 31/05/2022 10:09

I did a digital clearblue this morning and got not pregnant. Gutted after my positive frer yesterday.

I’ve got another frer coming today so I can compare with yesterday’s.

this kind of implies I’ve still got between 6 snd 25 hcg from the trigger in my system or it’s a chemical.

LT103 · 31/05/2022 11:58

@XjustagirlX same here. Went for bloods this morning. Did urine test first and got a positive. Not too dark but def there. But been spotting since Sunday and had negative on Sunday so I’m baffled. As is my nurse.
the only positive is that I’ve been spotting for 3 days now and normally it would be getting heavier by now and it’s not.
will get my call soon with blood results
