Shouldnt the pregnancy test be positive by 8days post transfer? Ive seen a few people say they had a faint positive line by the 8th day. Mine is still solid negative, getting very worried now

@Lisabrown88 i actually did one today, and yes mine negative also, feeling pretty deflated. But with no symptoms not sure what I expected!

@hopefloats2022 did you test at day 8 or did you wait for test day?

Lisabrown88 · 26/05/2022 10:11

@Fertilityjourney gosh sorry, yes its super deflating :( I really thought today was the day. Have you had any cramps at all, you did mention you felt shattered and sleepy yesterday and previously you said you had a few twinges on one side so thats probably your symptoms so far

Iliada · 26/05/2022 10:14

Yes, this morning was the first day I didn’t test, this is day 9. I wanted to have one more day before having to give up completely.

I was trying to work it out and unless there is very low HCG, which is not always terrible but equally is always worrying, by day 8 there should be something. You never know until you know.

I have another one in the freezer, so I am going to beg my doctor to let me try again next month or failing that in July. And then on to the next cycle of that doesn’t work.

I’m trying to feel lucky.

hopefloats2022 · 26/05/2022 10:55

@Fertilityjourney - I didn’t test at all until OTD. But I have been trolling these forums for a long time now and while lots of people do have positives at 8 days, it can def appear later than that. I really hope that is the case with you. Maybe skip a day or two of testing and have a more definitive answer? This is so hard. Xx

Fertilityjourney · 26/05/2022 11:13

@hopefloats2022 thank you. I haven’t been testing daily just thought I’d try today. Thank you for your positive vibes. I won’t test again now until I am meant to :)

XjustagirlX · 26/05/2022 11:14

@Lisabrown88 i always thought by 8dp5dt a positive is more than likely to show up.

i did my test this morning on 6dp5dt and it was a stark negative.

i seem to have similar symptoms to @Fertilityjourney i have felt really tired, I had twinges on the right side 3-4 days after transfer and yesterday 5dp5dt I had period like cramps.

Lisabrown88 · 26/05/2022 11:23

Yea I think I will stop testing and just wait till OTD on Sunday cause its annoying now getting constant negative tests!

Does anyone have their OTD between today and Saturday? I assume @Iliada yours is saturday and @Fertilityjourney yours is Sunday like me?

OP posts:
Fertilityjourney · 26/05/2022 11:34

@Lisabrown88 mine is Mon 30th x

Iliada · 26/05/2022 12:23

@Lisabrown88 The test is tomorrow morning! At this clinic they test at 14 days post predicted ovulation.

I’m fine with it, I don’t want to keep taking progesterone supplements for a day longer than I have to if I’m not pregnant because I always get nearly every single possible side effect. I didn’t even read the list until the other day when I got a weird metal taste in my mouth and then I started ticking them off! I think I am missing maybe 2! Perhaps I will collect them next time.

XjustagirlX · 26/05/2022 13:57

@Lisabrown88 yeah I’m wondering if I should stop doing daily tests too. What kind of tests are you doing? I’m doing cheap one step ones at the moment.

Lisabrown88 · 26/05/2022 14:00

@Iliada ahh goodluck tomorrow then :)

@XjustagirlX im doing the clearblue digital one which clearls states "not pregnant" haha so evil!

@Fertilityjourney ah okay just one day after me :)

This time around I have been obsessed with looking up the sensitivity of the HCG test brands. They are all so different. I never realised there was any issue there as I had very high HCG the one time I got a BFP, so I thought that on day 14 post ovulation all tests were about 99% accurate, but in actual fact apparently even the ones that detect around 10mlU/ml have about a 20% false negative rate four days from period starting.

And most tests are actually for around 25mlU/ml and expect you to test a few days after missing a period. Some don’t detect anything until 50mlU/ml!

First Response tests detect at only about 6mlU/ml, which is why they pick up so many false starts AKA chemical pregnancies, which is useful perhaps but feels rather cruel when they look so much like other tests. It means women are comparing apples with oranges and think that their BFP is nailed on when it’s actually a tiny chemical change that sometimes only lasts one day and leaves people devastated. But it also means that the odds of detecting something at 6dp5dt or whatever are much higher with a First Response than a Clear Blue.

I don’t say this to give any false hope and perhaps you all knew this already, but it has really shocked me. I was so ignorant about all of this!

LT103 · 26/05/2022 16:04

@hopefloats2022 congratulations on the BFP!!!
im now 5 days post transfer. Had cramps all day yest and today like AF is coming so I’m hoping I’m wrong!!
I’m not on any meds at all. I just got an ovitrelle injection at transfer so I can’t test early as I’d likely get false positive so I’m holding out for otd on 31st!!

Fertilityjourney · 26/05/2022 16:34

@LT103 symptoms sound positive right?!
sending lots of positive vibes.

@Iliada thanks for sharing the info regarding different HCG levels and testing, I hadn’t really thought about about the difference in the tests. I guess ultimately the blood test is the one you want to show positive results.

I’m having a terrible teary day!! These hormones we pump ourselves with play havoc with reality!

Lisabrown88 · 26/05/2022 16:59

Bleeding again so I think this is the end of the road for me!

OP posts:
Fertilityjourney · 26/05/2022 20:15

@Lisabrown88 don’t write it off !! Keep going, you’ve come this far xx

Iliada · 27/05/2022 08:10

@Lisabrown88 How scary. I’m so sorry this is happening. It must be very upsetting.

I have my beta this morning, but my HPT this morning was still totally negative so I have come to terms with the fact that this has not worked. I do feel really gutted and sad about it, but also like nothing else matters but continuing to try, so at least I don’t feel so awful that I would want to put off trying again.

One thing I keep telling myself is that I would so much rather have one very strong pregnancy that works than a will-it-won’t-it situation, as I had before, which ended badly.

On to June.

Iliada · 27/05/2022 14:38

Just had the call and it was, as expected, negative. Sigh.

Good luck everyone! My fingers are crossed for all of you.

Lisabrown88 · 27/05/2022 16:27

Unfortunately it was negative for me too. I was bleeding so was asked to come in for a blood test. The worst feeling ever.

Is anyone doing it privately? I want to consider going private as NHS is another 4 or 5months wait. My clinic is about £4500 for just the embryo transfer and medication. Any other clinic recommendations? Plus i dont want to transfer only 1 as im 34. Will private clinic let me transfer 2 in the UK or i need to go abroad?

OP posts:
Fertilityjourney · 27/05/2022 22:41

@Iliada @Lisabrown88 I’m so sorry to hear the negative results, it’s such an emotion process. I’m certain I will be joking you on Monday.

@Lisabrown88 We went privately, it’s a rather costly process, but I can say I feel like I’ve been looked after. 2k for the drugs and we had to pay around 10k up front before egg collection, we did get 5k refunded to us when it turned out we didn’t have any embryos to freeze. This is LWC.
I did notice another private clinic called ABC, they seem like they had reasonable prices, didn’t read reviews.

Zest11 · 27/05/2022 22:58

Hi,
I hope you don't mind me jumping on this thread. I have been watching as I was on the tww but unfortunately negative for me. I have been following you. @Lisabrown88 where are you based? We have to pay for ours but we are still with the NHS clinic we had when we were funded but it seems much more affordable than some of the other places I have seen.

Lisabrown88 · 28/05/2022 04:07

@Fertilityjourney thanks just quite disappointing. Wow thats quite expensive gosh. The alternative for me is to wait like 5 months for another NHS cycle, im not sure I can wait :(

@Zest11 im based in London. I dont even know whats considered affordable, is £4,500 affordable?

Im tempted to switch to IVI Alicante, ive seen some great reviews about it. Atleast there I can put more than one embryo which I would prefer if im spending all this money. Does anyone know if its possible to ship over my embryos? I have quite a few in the UK and wouldnt want to start the whole egg collection part again.

Lisabrown88 · 28/05/2022 04:42

Also does anyone know if we can transfer more tha 1 embryo if its private treatment in the UK? Im 34
