IVF/FET October/November 21

I think I'm a bit early on some of the other threads so starting one for October/November 😊

1st fresh cycle in august ended in CP.

Booked for follow up consultation 30th September so hopefully I'll be able to transfer late October early November 🤞🏼

5 frozen blasts. Hoping to transfer 2 this time round but I'm not sure they'll let me 😬

@paintfairy I had similar numbers and had three embryos the fresh of which resulted in my DS so rest up until transfer!

@Chrischross thanks! Don't mind me I'm a bit crazy I make up things in my head that may or may not be true and the nurses look at me like 'what?'. I'm sure there's absolutely nothing behind my weird thoughts, I guess I'm just completely over thinking and driving myself nuts coz I'm basically scared to miscarry again. Last time I think I got too cocky thinking this was it and then BAM two days before my 8 week scan I felt a huge gush and that's it my nightmares started. Haven't been the same since then to be honest.

@paintfairy you don't get a day 3 update? That's harsh! (Though probably better for your embryos and that's the important thing.) My day 3 update didn't give much indication of the final total anyway, except to know we were still in with a chance. Your egg numbers are decent so hopefully you'll get some good blasts 🤞

@paintfairy well done, those are fab numbers you should have a really good chance of getting blasts from 12 eggs. My first round I got 12 as well and got 3 blasts from them. I don't get any updates after day one either, my clinic also have a do not disturb policy which will be strange, I'm used to daily embryology update! Not that it makes a difference I guess.

@strawberrysummer19 how are you feeling today? Nice to have this little day off in between all of the injections, procedures and pessaries isn't it 😂 I'm excited to get these eggs out, felt pretty sore since yesterday afternoon. Not looking forward to the bloating and pain after the EC though for sure!

@IVFGotThis05 I'm the same with Menopur, had it for all of my cycles and it makes me feel so rough and nauseous. I took my last dose last night before the trigger and still feel as sick as a dog today 🤢 I don't usually feel any pains until day 8 or 9 and didnt this time even though the nurse said I have 'kissing ovaries' again on my day 8 scan. They've always told me that though and I've had 12, 14, and 3 eggs collected from my previous collections so definitely not expecting more than that as my last EC was 2 years ago now and I'm now 37.

The no update policy sounds brutal. My heart is in my throat just thinking about the suspense of it all.

@Hufflepuff1 sorry about your loss and that’s totally understandable. I would probably be the same tbh. How are you feeling? What’s your protocol?

@Holskey no, as I don't think they check them. So it'll be a hard week. Just have to keep occupied.
@Hufflepuff1 the ideal is to definitely get more than 1. I would love 3 or 4.
@MrsC2018 no, it makes zero difference to the outcome. Its just us impatient people struggle with not knowing. 🤣

I feel ok just apprehensive of how many eggs I'll get as know my numbers are low but feeling ok. Have a nice early start as we are leaving at 6:30 x

Question re egg collection as I forgot last time

Last time for food is midnight ( be in bed long before !) but is it just sips of water from what I remember and regarding vitamins ( I take a
Tonne!) Do we not take any and just wait until after?

@strawberrysummer19 I was told nothing after midnight including water for mine.
I know it's easy to say, but don't worry about the numbers. My baby came from my 3rd round where I only got 3 eggs, of which 2 fertilised. The other rounds with load more I just had failure after failure. It's pot luck, and definitely true although sounds trite - it only takes one

@strawberrysummer19 I was told nothing after midnight. But you can have clear fluids (black tea, black coffee, water) up to 3 hours before. So no, I wouldn't take vitamins before.

@MrsC2018 thank you, think I remember being told having absolutely nothing to eat/drink too but just feel like I'm doubting everything! So thank you for confirming.

It's so reassuring to hear - last time none of mine made blast despite getting 9 ( 7 fertilised) but I don't have that many this time - so that's all I can hope for xx

@paintfairy hope you are feeling ok now and the pain has died down. It seems harsh the clinic aren't calling you with updates but I guess they are all different and know what they are doing.

@strawberrysummer19 it's definitely not all about the numbers. Some people get loads due to pcos or otherwise and in the end only have 1/2 embryos that make it to day 5. Fingers crossed for you.

@Chrischross thank you. I'm currently doing a short medicated FET, on fyremadel and progynova until scan day next Wednesday and I'll then add lubion on top of progynova until transfer which is around 19th November depending on my scan etc

@Hufflepuff1 exactly that - my partner had dna fragmentation so we have that to deal with too but trying to be positive

My clinic didn't update me either on my last cycle but to be honest they said they were fine until day 4 and then slowed right down after day 4 but we weren't told this until 8am on day 5 as day 4 was a Sunday, so even if we did get the day 3 update then this wouldn't have changed the outcome for us - we have the caremaps too x

I went for my bloods today as predicted negative

So we have a follow up beg of Dec. And can hopefully start a new cycle..... wait for it IN APRIL!!! LIKE WHAT IS THAT ABOUT . They have halved the number of patients at clinics because of covid hopefully after the new year they are going back to the original 15 a week.

We don't know if it will be funded nhs or self funded. If its self funded were looking at £6 n half grand. That's me doing a shit load of overtime.!

So has anyone had follow ups and what gets discussed ? Is this waiting time normal at other clinics ? We waited that long for our first round

We considered moving clinics but we like where we are even though it's two hours drive away the next one in Leeds would be 3.5 hours and we've been advised that all clinics are in the same situation regarding cut of numbers

Hoping they can out a good case together for us to get funding x

I was joking to hve done another cycle before Xmas I nearly fell off the chair when she said .

So ive to stop progesterone, so will I hve another bleed now . And do I class that as day 1 of my cycle

Any got any recommendations for vitamins for us to try . Particularly for low sperm . His been taking the wellman conception ones so maybe something different ?

@Justawannabemam I don't think that's standard. I'm nhs but they refer you to private clinics. I was only referred end of August.
@Hufflepuff1 I'm OK. Its only minor. Hopefully it won't get any worse either.

I agree about numbers. Its quality not quantity. Its so hard to predict though!

@Justawannabemam my DH had high dna fragmentation and we managed to lower it in 90 days - my dr didn't want us to cycle again until we did this diet but that was because none of our embryos made it to blast so at this point dh sa was ok until we tested for dbs frag so maybe different but we were given a link for Marion glenville I can send the link on if you like

Then I have my partner take -
1000mg vit c and bit e decent ones from Holland and Barrett
Probiotic (Holland and battery)
Co10 (300mg)
Vit d
Omega 3 ( Holland and Barrett)
We also did a no/low sugar where possible
No/low carb
Lots of antioxidant foods - greens and blueberries
Introduced nuts seeds flaxseeds and chai seeds
High protein
Cut out alcohol and a caffeine

There ate both men and women and I took them too and then I took all the extras too

They cost more but as Marion explains they are in a pure form xx

Not great news for me really. Of the 12 collected, only 8 were mature. And then 5 fertilised. So it's going to be a long wait until Saturday, to find out if we actually have any.
