I think I'm a bit early on some of the other threads so starting one for October/November 😊

1st fresh cycle in august ended in CP.

Booked for follow up consultation 30th September so hopefully I'll be able to transfer late October early November 🤞🏼

5 frozen blasts. Hoping to transfer 2 this time round but I'm not sure they'll let me 😬

@paintfairy yes I wasn't supposed to drive, I had a plan of calling a taxi and leaving the car in Aldi if I was bad, but honestly I walked out as if nothing had happened. I had to wait 2 hours to get rescue meds anyway, but felt myself throughout the whole process anyway x

strawberrysummer19 · 31/10/2021 20:14

Just measured out our gonasi trigger and I feel stressed out !! There's much less fluid than last time and when we measured it out some of the saline solution split. The two powders definitely went in but we definitely had more last time so not sure what's happened
Trying to think it will be ok as from what I googled it says it's fine if both powders are mixed but now feel really stressed hoping it will work!!! This has been the hardest sort until now
The gonasi injection isn't the best as we had to use the needles that came with menopur with the nurse said was fine when I checked last time
Just worried it looks less 😦😦😦😦

paintfairy · 31/10/2021 21:29

@ExhaustedPigeon1988 I'm kind of hoping I will be a bit out of it!
@strawberrysummer19 didn't it come with its own needles? Mine did and then you just used one lot of solution. Although I was struggling to get it all back out of the first bottle and was stressing i hadn't got it all. Then when I was injecting it- I didn't leave it in 5 seconds after because the dog knocked my hand. 🙄🤦‍♀️ But I'm sure they allow for that? It must work even if you don't get every last drop, surely? Because its almost impossible to in the way that you do it. I can't work out why they give gonasi and not ovitrelle.

strawberrysummer19 · 31/10/2021 21:35

@paintfairy I think what happened is we took the white handle off and then realised we shouldn't so lost some solution then for some reason it wasn't all coming back up so we used the other needles but I've just figured what's done is done and really hoping it's ok!

Like you say it must be ok if every last drop isn't in there. I don't even think we lost a lot it just looks smaller xx

How are you feeling about ec ? X

paintfairy · 31/10/2021 21:42

@strawberrysummer19 ah, my instructions said definitely don't move the white handle. 🤣 But the powder is what matters. Did you lose it before adding the powder?
I've just googled and it looks like some people have triggered with just one amount of gonasi before. So having 2 lots, I'm sure losing a tiny amount really won't matter.

I think I have no idea what to expect, so maybe that's good! I'll be bricking it tomorrow, but I'm OK now. I'm praying its not awful and painful. I had an arm op that didn't go well back in June and I could feel it. So I'm really worried about being in pain, as that was traumatic. I'm glad it's early so I won't have time to really worry about it in the morning. My DH is absolutely useless at being reassuring in any way, so I need to be able to hold it together. 🙄

strawberrysummer19 · 31/10/2021 21:58

I know kicking myself ! My partner was Adamant he knew what he was doing
The nurse showed me and I just didn't remember seeing what she did with the white handle. Nevermind it's done now.

The powder wasn't lost, just the solution came out so hoping it's ok and like you say some people trigger with half so sure that's ok.

X

Hello everyone may I join please?
We had our first ICSI cycle in 2016 and the fresh transfer resulted in my DS and we had two remaining frozen embryos.
I am on day 2 of my second FET currently taking progynova and fyremadel injections. Transfer likely to be 19th November. Previous FET ended up in a loss two days before my 8 week scan.. We were devastated and it's taken us 18 months to start again, partly due to not being ready but also due to covid/lockdowns/my vitamin D levels being too low so we are now in a position to start again. I've been having acupuncture for a few months too, I mostly use this as a weekly excuse to have a nap! Not sure if it makes a world of difference but want to keep things as similar as the first successful cycle.
I'm known for being a really bad over thinker but was wondering if anyone can help calm my worries. We can't afford to go through another fresh cycle and have just about managed to pay for this cycle so is it true that out of a 'batch' of embryos there is only one or a small % that will result in a baby? I feel like I have had my go with my DS and I don't even deserve another. Also is it true that some people only get pregnant via fresh cycles and some only get pregnant via frozen? Stupid question but as I said I'm an overthinker.

Holskey · 31/10/2021 22:33

@hufflepuff1 sorry about your loss Flowers It's not true at all that out of a batch, there'll only be one that'll become a baby! But you know that. And I can't think of a reason that some people would only become pregnant with fresh and some only with frozen. Definitely overthinking, but it's totally understandable. You must feel so anxious that this one works.

The chances of 2/3 of your embryos resulting in babies will depend on your age when they were collected, but certainly possible even if you were in the older range. You're giving it your best shot and that's all you can do.

Holskey · 31/10/2021 22:38

@paintfairy the very best of luck for tomorrow! You will be absolutely fine.

VenusStarr · 01/11/2021 07:15

Good luck today @paintfairy :)

@strawberrysummer19 congratulations on triggering. I didn't use that trigger but try not to worry.

Hi @Hufflepuff1 I'm sorry for your loss ❤️ it's understandable that you'd be having a lot of anxiety. I have had previous losses and felt very detached during my FET but it didn't affect the outcome. Wishing you the best. Keep chatting here x

Hufflepuff1 · 01/11/2021 08:19

Thank you for the understanding words.
I have had two losses so I can't get the possibility out of my mind but I will try. My DS is also on the autism spectrum so that comes with it's own challenges... I can't remember the last time I actually thought clearly as before him we had 5 years of infertility. It's really important but also so difficult to take care of your mental health through this so I hope everyone has good coping mechanisms xx

IVFGotThis05 · 01/11/2021 09:58

Good luck for those going for EC this week :) !

Did everyone get side effects when injecting Buserelin and menopur ? I feel like I'm not really noticing anything. I know buserlin is working as I had my baseline scan. But menopur I'm not really feeling bloated or anything... I mean I am only day 5 to be honest! And my stomach is starting to say 'noooo not there' when I try to inject, anyone else get this ?

strawberrysummer19 · 01/11/2021 10:01

@IVFGotThis05 I was on menopur for 11 days stims this time (14 days last time) I had bad bloat and stabby pains from day 5-6 and then it calmed down but now just a little bloat but very tender around my ovaries and I can feel them

I'm sure it was less than this last time

I don't even have many folicles - only 7 at baseline and only 4 that seem to be a good size x

IVFGotThis05 · 01/11/2021 10:10

@strawberrysummer19 ahh so I might expect to start the awful bloat soon then. On my baseline they said I had around 7 in each, I don't think thats many is it ? I am almost 33 so I'm not expecting high numbers! I have my next scan on thursday so I'll find out numbers then. What part are you up to now ?

lucymills1234 · 01/11/2021 10:45

Hope it goes well today @paintfairy !

ExhaustedPigeon1988 · 01/11/2021 11:04

Thinking of you @paintfairy x

paintfairy · 01/11/2021 11:15

I survived! Well, it wasn't that bad really. I was nervous but everyone was lovely. I felt like I was awake the whole time in the theatre but I'm not really sure I could have been? I only felt him do like 2 things. They also injected painkiller into my bum (apparently) which I have no knowledge of. So when he said he'd done i was like- but you've only got 2 eggs or something? There was a bit of discomfort but much less than expected, so I'm happy with that! I wouldn't be worried about having to do it again.
They got 12 eggs. The embryologist called me as we were driving home to explain next steps. Basically they expect 80% to be mature and 70% to fertilise. So suddenly there's not many left if that happens, as we all know they don't all develop properly either. But they'll call me tomorrow before 12 to tell me how many fertilised. Let's hope some some do!

@IVFGotThis05 I got headaches on buserelin and it stings. But I didn't really get any other side effects. I didn't get really bad bloating. I felt kind of full towards the end but it wasn't really uncomfortable or anything. I expected more discomfort than I got. I was on menopur and ovaleap combined. And yeah I got to the point where I didn't want to stab needles in any more. Just make sure you move places.

IVFGotThis05 · 01/11/2021 11:25

@paintfairy ahhh I will keep everything crossed for your week ahead ! Now to try and rest up today and keep yourself busy inbetween phone calls I can imagine the week to be a bit nerve racking ! :)

paintfairy · 01/11/2021 11:27

@IVFGotThis05 yeah I actually think this week is maybe the most stressful bit?! Because if this doesn't go right, then you've got nothing? 🤷‍♀️

IVFGotThis05 · 01/11/2021 11:40

@paintfairy Well try and stay as positive as you can ! (I know easier said than done) But I think 12 is a good starting number ! The famous saying 'It only takes 1' !! :)

strawberrysummer19 · 01/11/2021 13:14

@IVFGotThis05 possibly but some say they don't get uncomfortable
I feel sore and just had enough of injections now
But I have EC tomorrow ! I triggered last night

@paintfairy great numbers ! And fingers crossed for good fertilisation rates tomorrow
Xx

IVFGotThis05 · 01/11/2021 14:02

@strawberrysummer19 Ahhh very exciting ! Fingers crossed for you !!

Okay I mentioned side effects earlier... And since around 11am I have felt so nauseous!! and a sharp bed head ! I'm going to guess this is from the menopur! Did anyone else experience this ?

Chrischross · 01/11/2021 14:33

@Hufflepuff1 welcome! I also have DS from a previous FET in 2018. Going through another FET with possible transfer date being 15th or 16th. Getting more and more nervous as time approaches. I’ve never heard that only a small percentage of your embryos become babies? That’s slightly freaked me out. Maybe that explains why I have transferred 3 AA grade embryos and only have one DS to show for it. Jokes aside, it’s such an overwhelming process that we need to fight to be in a good headspace. Re: fresh vs frozen, I think it just depends from person to person. some women’s bodies respond better to FET and I know a lot of clinics in the US prefer to offer FET where they can to give your body a chance to respond. My clinic has better results for FET and when I had OHSS and felt fine, they flatly refused to do fresh transfer and told me it wouldn’t work. I do also think some women respond better to fresh cycles because it keeps the momentum going. All in all I think everyone is different.

Chrischross · 01/11/2021 14:42

@paintfairy those are still great numbers. You would be surprised how many embryos make it all the way to day 5. Does the clinic provide you with daily reports? Wouldn’t it be great if could have camera in the lab, monitoring the progress.

paintfairy · 01/11/2021 14:47

@Chrischross no. I'll get told tomorrow how many fertilised and that's it. They have a do not disturb policy so I don't know if you only find out on transfer day? (Day 5). We haven't got the embryoscope (nhs) so we'll be in the dark.
@IVFGotThis05 I suppose what will be, will be. There's not much I can do now.

I felt absolutely fine earlier but I think the strong painkillers have worn off and I feel slightly sore now. Paracetamol probably doesn't quite cut it. 🤣
