@VenusStarr @notyetamumbuttrying My clinic always does beta testing (they ask you not to test at home). I've actually never got to that point as my period has always started before my blood test appointment and I just refuse to do an hour round trip to be told it hasn't worked when I already know that, so I have an agreeement I just do a pointless POAS and confrim its negative to them (I'm the opposite of you @VenusStarr I definitely don't want to hear the result first from a nurse!)

@Bells3032 Hopefully cycle keeps going. Good luck!

Hi Guys.
Im pretty new to all this so its really nice to read your comments to each other.
Ive just had confirmation that all my meds are being delivered this Friday Smile
Norethisterone, Pergoveris, Cetrotide and Ovitrelle.
Obviously excited to get started but totally crapping myself too!

@Bells3032 @Tarsette aw bless you two! Hopefully you both get what you need/want 🙏🏾
@2mumlife how interesting, I wonder if it's a private clinic thing. The nhs certainly don't do that, or so I think anyway. This is my first ivf so I could be completely wrong!
En route to there now for my scan, cutting it fine as always 🙄
@Girlwholifts yay to the drugs haul! Are you long or short protocol?

Georgie87B · 26/05/2021 11:45

@Girlwholifts ahh great news that your meds will be here in a few days! And don't worry I was in exactly the same boat as you this time last month! This thread helped me through so much and everyone is super helpful and supportive with any questions you have.
I know it feels so daunting at the moment especially when a load of medication arrives at your door.. Then is all starts to feel real. I found everything it so much easier once the 1st injection was over and done with and you realise that is really wasn't as bad as you think it will be in your head. I don't know if I have said it before but I recommend getting an IVF diary to keep track of everything throughout the whole process it's been like my Bible to me.
You've got this! 💪

Hi everyone

Sorry I have failed utterly at keeping up on the old thread. Been super busy with work etc which I suppose has been good for keeping my mind off things. I'm just going to reply from the beginning on this thread.

Anyway I had egg collection yesterday and 9 were retrieved which I was very pleased with. We did ICSI as our donor sperm samples were rubbish in terms of both count and motility (annoying as donor sperm should be good and it was expensive!) and all 9 fertilised, I'm delighted to have so many in the running. At this point in my last cycle nearly 3 years ago I had 4 fertilised, different protocol this time and also I have much more faith in our new clinic.

@VenusStarr Congratulations on making it to 5dt, keeping everything crossed for a great beta result on Monday.

@Tarsette Sorry your lining isn't playing ball, hope tomorrow's scan is a bit more positive. If this cycle doesn't work out, I wonder if there's a FET protocol that would be better for growing lining if the high oestrogen is a problem? Also my understanding is that the lining requirements for FET are less stringent than the requirements for a fresh transfer (at least at my clinic). Also there's some evidence that vitamin E can help thicken lining and anecdotally the cycle I did fertility yoga videos daily on youtube (with yoga yin) was the thickest my lining has ever been (I've done 6 cycles including this one). Please feel free to tell me to get stuffed if you already know all this.

@Bells3032 Sorry your ovaries aren't playing ball. Will you get the blood test results and decision today?

@2mumlife Ugh clinic admin headaches are the worst. So frustrating and stressful just when you want to be all chill and zen. I had fyramadel for the first time this cycle, like you I did get some mild irritation around the injection site after injecting but less so than with buserelin and the prefilled syringes were very convenient.

@TheDutchess3 Oh my days that sounds like a complete nightmare. Our first clinic were a bit like that admin wise, although not quite as bad. We changed clinic and are so much happier with the new one.

@strawberrysummer19 Goodness a 2am trigger?! You poor thing! Hope egg collection goes well today.

@Alexm06 Sorry for your loss. Good luck with egg collection tomorrow, hopefully you'll get lots of good eggs with all those follicles.

@notyetamumbuttrying How are the follicles growing? I ended up stimming for 12 days this cycle, I think 10-11 days is average most places. Neither of my clinics so far have done betas, I can request one if I want but would have to pay extra for it.

@TheSnufflet OMG downregging for 6 weeks? What an absolute nightmare! How are you finding it mentally/emotionally? Glad your antibody test was negative, I'm TPO and TG antibody positive unfortunately.

@DoctorBambino I hope you got the test result you were hoping for, congratulations if you did and commiserations if you didn't.

@Georgie87B Congratulations on your PUPO status! When is OTD?

@Girlwholifts Welcome and good luck! Have you been trying for a baby for long?

@TinyPaws ah yay amazing all nine fertilised! that's incredible. Shame the sperm was such poor quality. i would have thought that would be something they check before they sell it. I looked at donor sperm as at one point we weren't sure my DH would have any sperm - I couldn't believe the price. A sperm analysis with storage only costs a couple of hundred here but it was literally thousands for sperm! absolutely mad!

Hoping to have results today. nurse was seeming to be gearing towards upping the dose and seeing what happens on Friday. fingers crossed. I am surprisingly zen. I have come up with lots of reasons why cancelling would be good including getting my hair done and being able to enjoy the next two weeks i have booked off rather than isolating. if it happens it happens if it doesn't then it'll happen eventually. Worst case scenario we have 5 blasts already in freeze we can use (saved for baby 2). so hope is not lost. good things come to those that wait right?

Good to hear from you @TinyPaws so pleased you have 9 embabies 🥰 🤞 for you, do you get a day 3 update?
I'm really pleased with how our round went, we have 2 good blasts in the freezer too ☺️

Yay for your meds @Girlwholifts 🥳 it's exciting.

Hope you're doing OK @Georgie87B I've been using an ivf journal too.

Hope you're OK @DoctorBambino ❤️

Thinking of you @strawberrysummer19, enjoy your sleep!

Hope the scan went well @notyetamumbuttrying and you get your trigger details!

I'm feeling shattered today, progesterone kicking my butt 😴

@Bells3032 The clinic are not sure if the sperm was somehow damaged in the freezing process or if the previous clinic we bought it off just has really low standards. We had 6 straws and they were all bad quality. Our 1 year old is the product of our last retrieval which was done at our old clinic, so we bought sibling sperm from them and exported it to the new clinic.

@VenusStarr We get a day 2 update tomorrow. Fantastic that you got 2 to freeze as well!

Pretty annoyed that we needed ICSI as it costs £800 extra. But worth it to have all 9 fertilise.

Georgie87B · 26/05/2021 13:16

@TinyPaws ahh congrats that's great 100% fertilisation!! 🎉🎉👏👏 I can't believe they don't check the donor sperm quality beforehand!! Especially for how much you pay for it just to pay more on top for ICSI is a joke! But glad you are finding your clinic better than your previous one!
I am doing good thanks although am super bloated today and rather unfomfortable. My OTD is this Friday so the end is near. Not sure if I'm excited or nervous for test date as quite Happy in my little PUPO world 🌍😂.

@VenusStarr ahh yes Im finding the journal so helpful and gives me something to occupy myself with each day.
And I COMPLETELY understand as progesterone is also kicking my butt too! Tired, bloating, sore boobs, slight nausea as of yesterday.. oh the joys hahaha!

@TinyPaws great news on the EC! Follicles are growing slowly so I'm back again on Saturday to see the improvement. It'll be 12 days by then and I hope that's it as I'm so uncomfortable already and getting lots of twinges. Are you allowed to take painkillers do you know?
@VenusStarr no trigger yet! A few more days and hopefully then! 🙏🏾not long until test day right?
@Georgie87B well done for holding out and good luck for Friday!

@notyetamumbuttrying thankyou 😊 hope your scan on Saturday goes well and you see a nice improvement. I think I stimmed for 11 days and that was more than enough with the bloating and twinges.. But should also all be good signs that things are happening 👍 I think you can take paracetamol if needed just not ibeprofen 👍 x

TheSnufflet · 26/05/2021 13:43

@VenusStarr thanks - they did give me the option of going ahead with it but it sounded so ominous and it makes the risk of miscarriage that much higher that I thought it was better to be safe than sorry. How wonderful that you've got two in the freezer and fingers crossed for your beta on Monday 🙂

@2mumlife yes that's the huge relief - if it had been positive then I would have been benched for even longer until my TSH levels evened out! I've heard that taking BCP can cause TSH levels to fluctuate sometimes and I had been on them for 5 weeks before buserelin, so it's possible that did something. Who knows though. How have you been getting on?

@notyetamumbuttrying at least I've got my dates through and I know it will happen rather than being left in suspense 🙂 how was your monitoring scan?

@Georgie87B hi again! Weirdly enough I sort of look forward to the injections in a way, it's now just routine and that thing we do at 7pm every day 😀 glad you're enjoying your PUPO status, how did everything go at Bourn Hall? I think progesterone kicks everyone's arse 😂

@TinyPaws hello again and 9 fertilised is great, well done! Very odd how a donor sample would be such rubbish quality though?

Honestly, as far as it goes, I've had relatively OK side-effects from the downregging - I'm freezing cold instead of getting hot flashes, I get headaches, dry skin and (TMI) constipation, but I've had the one AMAZING side effect from buserelin - I no longer have constant pelvic pain AND no more painful sex 😱 now that it's gone, I'm left wondering, could this have been endo the whole time? Is it nuts that I've been just left to get on with this constant hum of chronic pain in the background? I've really noticed it since it's not been there anymore.. sort of dreading it coming back tbh 😕

@TheSnufflet have you never been referred to gynae for a lap? That's awful if not if you've said about the endo symptoms before. I had one just before starting ivf and it was found in 3 places. Sex is less painful now but I do still get uncomfortable if it goes on too long (rare tho lol).
Posted about scan before I saw your msg come in.

@notyetamumbuttrying Yes think its a private thing. It also means OTD is earlier which is nice.

@Girlwholifts Welcome to the group!

@TinyPaws Amazing all your eggs were mature and fertilised! What a nightmare about donor though, I'll count myself lucky our donor sperm seems to have been good quality. I've never had buserelin so so far finding fyramedel most annoying - the irritation goes away pretty fast though.

@TheSnufflet Really tired today, not sure which drug is the culprit. Hoping it the fyremedal as I've only got another 5 days of that.

VenusStarr · 26/05/2021 15:50

@notyetamumbuttrying your lining is looking good! Is it triple layer? Mine was 7.3mm on my final scan day which they we're happy with and I guess it got a bit thicker before transfer too.
I don't know if you listen to the bfn podcast, but they talked about thin lining today and the expert said above 7.0mm is ideal.

With your follicles, I think the 12s are good and the 10s might come up too. One of my follicles grew 6mm in a couple of days, so there's still lots of opportunities for them to grow. It's a shame you have to stim for longer. How you feeling?

Having a day with zero productivity... I've got work to do, but mostly having breaks on the sofa 👀 could do with a nap. X

C1aire85 · 26/05/2021 15:50

@notyetamumbuttrying I had the same scan today ... they said they are looking for lining to be over 8mm so sounds like yours is looking good 👌🏼

They have brought my EC forward - has anyone else had this? Should be this Mon but now triggering tonight ready for Friday - and I am moving from Wickford to Cambs Bourn Hall. @Georgie87B did you say this is where u went - was it ok? X

Report
TheSnufflet · 26/05/2021 16:02

@notyetamumbuttrying I've been to the doctors for years about it - I got to see a gynae consultant about 6/7 years ago about it and he recommended I didn't undergo the lap if I wanted to have children as the surgery can do a number on your ovarian reserve apparently (especially if you have it on your ovaries). So I was sent on my way with naproxen Sad I wish I'd had it done to be honest, I think maybe if my cycles are unsuccessful then I'll insist on having one done - I won't have much to lose by that point..

Report
2mumlife · 26/05/2021 16:13

@C1aire85 My EC was sooner than anticipated as I triggered on only 8 days of stims. Really no one can garauntee when it will be it all depends on scans. Good luck with EC!

@C1aire85 Your right that's where I went and I found them really nice!
I had to arrive at 7.30am for EC and think went down about 8:45ish and was all over and done with in about 15/20 mins then they allowed me to leave by 10.30am. After a nice cuppa and some biscuits 👍 you are in good hands. I had a really nice doctor who took me down the the theatre and talked to me a reassured me throughout the whole thing which I found really helpful. Best of luck! Let us know how it goes on Friday!

@TheSnufflet everything has been really good at Bourn Hall. Obviously don't really get that much general communication from them unless it is needed but I'm guessing that's the same with other clinics too. But everyone I speak to are nice and helpful so can't complain. EC and transfer all seemed pretty straightforward and was nice that they have just have started to let partners in for transfer again now too. 😊
Haha Yea I bet injections are the norm for you now it will probably be strange stopping them but that's good that you are feeling slightly better on them! And I'm pretty sure constipation is a general "must have" for IVF at some point or another 😂 mine started after EC..

@2mumlife ooh that is nice!!
So turns out I never needed fyremadel as that's a short protocol drug. She said just to keep it as it can't be returned. What a waste!
@VenusStarr she never said. I've had a google and now worried 9.1mm is too thick 🤦🏾‍♀️ I do listen to them, will listen on the way home tonight! 👍🏾
Ok that's good to know there's still a chance for the smaller ones too! I want them all viable given I only have 11! Feeling a bit sick and full but only on n off so I'll survive!
Ooh your day sounds ace! I'm in the office and been in meetings most of the afternoon. Out for dinner with SIL tonight tho 🥳 Thai food, yum!
@C1aire85 ok thank you. You must have lots of big juicy eggs!
@TheSnufflet oh right! Mine said to have it before ivf as it can do it good! I had 2 adhesions on one ovary so they went carefully there and ablated it.
Yeah I'd ask if I were you. Just make sure it's a gynae with a specialist interest in endo doing the op x

@2mumlife thank you - nice to know it's not uncommon to be brought forward. It's so easy to overthink things and start panicking!
@Georgie87B thanks for the reassurance - Wickford have been fab so far and sounds like Cambridge is gonna be the same. So glad it's a fairly quick procedure - I have to be there at 12.30 so hopefully I'm similar to you at out before rush hour!
Roll on 2am trigger tonight ... @strawberrysummer19 I'm following in your footsteps! Hope EC has gone well for you today XX
