Our other thread is now full so thought I would start this one to continue the chat.

@Beaglemum91 I'm waiting for my period so I can start meds for FET so that is really helpful information about the embryo transfer process. Thank you. Did you have your partner on Facetime or anything for it?

@Icsi2021 so excited for you xxx

Morning all, hope everyone is having a nice weekend. I triggered last night and I am looking forward to an injection free day today! I just wondered what you all took to EC? I've seen that lots of people take slippers and a dressing gown, but there's nothing in the ABC instructions about this!

Clapham4 · 08/08/2021 09:04

Thanks @Hopeful1234567 !!

@lawandgin how exciting you’ve done the trigger! You don’t need to bring anything. They give you the gown to wear, with the lovely net hat😂, and socks. I wore comfy leggings and a big jumper just to be comfy afterwards and nothing that would be too hard to get on. They have tea & biscuits when you come round so really you don’t need to bring anything but yourself & maybe a bottle of water for the car afterwards. Xx

lawandgin · 08/08/2021 09:19

Thanks @Clapham4 shame about the nice new dressing gown I bought, but never mind! In that case I will just take a cereal bar and some water and the antibiotics (not sure why the instructions say to take them as presumably you won't actually need to start them until that evening?) I'm so excited now and I need these eggs out as my ovaries feel like they are going to burst! When is your beta? Xx

kittyfantastico21 · 08/08/2021 16:41

@lawandgin good luck for your egg collection tomorrow! I hope it goes really well. You don’t need to bring much, just a bottle of water for afterwards. I had a teeny tiny bit of bleeding straight after so maybe a sanitary towel/pantyliner just in case. Wear comfy clothes because your abdomen might feel a bit sore after.

lawandgin · 08/08/2021 17:17

Thank you so much @kittyfantastico I'll let you all know how it goes. I should be home by lunchtime x

kittyfantastico21 · 09/08/2021 07:18

@Becky105 good luck for your transfer today! I hope it goes smoothly and that you’ve got a good number of blastocysts to freeze too!

@lawandgin wishing you lots of luck and mature eggs at your egg collection!

Francesmalin · 09/08/2021 13:22

Not sure if you have the answer to this but I am still going to ask. I think in a couple of posts ago I mentioned that I still haven't had my period after egg retrieval. I had withdrawal bleed but not an actual period just yet. Do you think I could have gotten pregnant between the ER bleed and now? Its passed 29 days since I had the ER bleed and my period usually comes around day 26-27? 🤔

Becky105 · 09/08/2021 13:56

Hi everyone sorry I was a bit quiet, i was away at my friend's wedding.

@Clapham4 congratulations on your amazing news! I'm so happy for you 😘 each little win on this forum feels like a win for us all and helps me keep faith in the process. This has made my day.

@lawandgin thank you for checking in with me, i took a dressing gown, socks and a snack with me to egg collection... The dressing gown and socks did not get used at all lol. And my sandwich was a chicken and mayo but the nurse told me that rich and creamy food makes some people sick, so I should have taken a plain snack. Hope it's all gone well.

Thank you for wishing me luck today @kittyfantastico21 I'm on my way for embryo transfer now. We had a call on Saturday with our day 3 update on our embryos and were told we had 5 grade 1, 4 grade 2 and 2 grade 3 embryos at that stage. (I'm slightly confused as that adds up to 11 and we were told only 10 had fertilised... But I'll ask about that today). We were really chuffed with those embryos but I'm looking forward to finding out a bit more today. I have to say i tried to read up on the embryo grading system but found it a bit confusing, so I'll leave it to them and hope our embabies have carried on dividing like they should. I'll keep you all posted with how it goes today x

lawandgin · 09/08/2021 14:01

Thanks for all of your well wishes everyone. It went really well and got 9 eggs! The sedation was lovely and the most painful bit was the canula! Home now and resting on the sofa, making sure to drink plenty of fluids.
I do have a question though which some of you might be able to help with- the nurse said the utrogestan could be taken rectally, but I thought it had to be vaginally?

lawandgin · 09/08/2021 14:04

Good luck today @Becky105 💛

kittyfantastico21 · 09/08/2021 14:40

@Francesmalin it could be worth taking a test! I have read other people experience a delay to their next period after IVF, so it may arrive in a few days. But I'm sure it is possible to get pregnant in between cycles so you might be lucky!

@lawandgin well done! 9 eggs is great! Hope you recover smoothly and wishing you lots of luck for your fertilisation update tomorrow. I have only been told to take utrogestan vaginally so that's what I've been doing. It can be a bit messy so I'm wearing pantyliners every day but tbh it isn't as messy as I expected. You could double check with the nurse if they call you to see how you're recovering.

@Becky105 hope you enjoyed the wedding! I don't know much about day 3 grades but grade 1 is the highest. So it sounds like most of yours were looking good at day 3 - fingers crossed for lots of high quality blastocysts!

Hopeful1234567 · 09/08/2021 15:56

@Becky105 Wishing you lots of luck for your transfer today! Mine is tomorrow afternoon x

Francesmalin · 09/08/2021 17:58

My last real period was end of June... It's scary to see how this IVF thing messes up with your body! I was preggy without having a real period in between would be hilarious... I don't think so though cause I have no symptoms no soreness no implantation pain of any sort! I will wait few more days and then I'll get a pregnancy test!

@clapham4 and @kittyfantastico21 congrats both on your pregnancies! So happy for you both! Good luck to the rest of the gang that are in process now

Clapham4 · 09/08/2021 21:42

Hope today went well @Becky105 & @lawandgin 💕💕

Thanks @Francesmalin! have you tested yet lovely?

@kittyfantastico21 did ABC tell you your HCG level? Mine is 70 which they said is in the normal range at this stage but Dr.Google is saying it’s on the low side. Love having something new to be anxious about 🙄🙈 xx

kittyfantastico21 · 10/08/2021 09:27

@Hopeful1234567 good luck for your transfer today! I hope it goes really well!

@lawandgin hope you're feeling okay today and recovering well from your EC. Fingers crossed for good fertilisation!

@Becky105 enjoy your trip to Ireland - I hope it makes the TWW fly by for you!

@Clapham4 my HCG was 261. I've read that doubling is more important than the number itself though, so it may just be that yours took longer to implant than mine. I'm sure if ABC were worried about it they would have got you back for a repeat blood test to check it was rising properly so, even though it's so difficult, try not to worry. You are pregnant! Can you try to focus on the excitement instead?

I know it's so difficult though. My symptoms are coming and going, which is making me quite worried. I know it's normal but every time I feel totally fine, I get worried that something's gone wrong. But yesterday evening I did have mild nausea so I'm taking that as a good sign. The wait for the scan is even harder than the TWW!

lawandgin · 10/08/2021 09:32

Thanks @kittyfantastico21 I'm feeling absolutely fine, other than very nervous waiting for our fertilisation update. This is the bit I have always been most worried about.

@Clapham4 it's completely understandable that you'd be worried, but I agree with kitty that the most important thing is that HCG is doubling. If you are really worried I'm sure you could pay for another blood test, but equally if ABC were worried, they would have asked for this xx

Hopeful1234567 · 10/08/2021 09:34

@kittyfantastico21 aww Thankyou! Feeling nervous to be going back through it again. Hope you are doing okay!
@Becky105 Hope you have a lovely time away and the TTW goes smoothly for you!

Clapham4 · 10/08/2021 10:53

Thanks guys! I called ABC this morning as it was on my mind all night. I just need to know it’s doubling and booked in for a follow up test tomorrow🤞🏼 and if it’s not I can prepare myself. My FRERs this morning and last night were still showing strong lines. So I’m hoping as it was an early blast maybe it needed an extra growing day and implanted a day later than usual.
Will this process ever be straight forward!!🙈 I’ve read online lots of clinics don’t test until 14dp5dt and want to see over 100. So I’m praying I’m in that bracket!

@lawandgin best of luck with your update!!!

@Hopeful1234567 good luck with your transfer this afternoon. Here's to hoping that this is your time.

@lawandgin you've got a great number of eggs so hopefully loads fertilise for you, but like others have said before... It only takes 1.

My transfer went well although I think because everyone at abc had likened it to a smear test i had down played it in my mind and didn't realise it would still be in theatre and in a hospital gown etc.

It made me laugh a bit that the embryologist came in to give me all the info I've been desperate to find out... But she waited until i was laying on the table legs in the air and couldn't really focus on the update at all lol.

I think they said they were putting in an AB embryo and we had 3 to freeze yesterday and 6 that they are watching until today to see if they are viable to freeze too.

It was not too sore though tbf, speculum only when it went in but the more I relaxed the more it eased. I was mortified whilst the dr announced he was just going to 'clean' my vagina then cleaned inside and i was just cringing as he dabbed around with some sort of clinical wet wipe, the silence only broken up with him squelching about down there 🤣🤣🤣.

I somehow lived through the embarrassment and today the embryologist is going to call to go over the details about the grades of freezeable embryos and whether any of the other 6 can be frozen

lawandgin · 10/08/2021 11:45

Glad to hear your transfer went well @Becky105 and that did make me laugh! I presume he was referring to the pessary? @Hopeful1234567 good luck for your transfer today!

Why haven't they called yet...this waiting is awful! The embryologist said the call would "likely be between 9 and 11am". Naturally I have been awake since 6am and still nothing...

kittyfantastico21 · 10/08/2021 11:59

@Clapham4 those tests look good! I'd forgotten that yours was an early blast and I think that would explain your HCG being lower than mine at test day as it makes sense that it would need a little longer to get to implantation stage. I have everything crossed for your blood test tomorrow.

@Becky105 glad it went well and your account of the process is very funny! An AB is excellent so that's great news! Good to hear you have some frozen already, I hope you get lots of good news at your update today.

@lawandgin ugh, there's so much waiting in this process and all of it is awful! I hope you hear soon.

lawandgin · 10/08/2021 12:23

Just had the call, it wasn't great. Out of 9 eggs, 5 were suitable for icsi and 3 have fertilised. They are going for a day 3 transfer on Thursday and will call me tomorrow to book it in. I think I'm so upset because I wasn't expecting nearly half of my eggs to be unsuitable. He said two were immature and one was abnormal, I assume therefore that the other one was over mature. Had a good cry and now I'm going for a shower and then a walk.

Clapham4 · 10/08/2021 13:50

Oh @lawandgin I get why you’re upset but really that’s a good outcome! You still have 3 fertilised so focus on that. That’s a good outcome. A day 3 transfer still has a really good rate of success too. Much easier said then done but try to stay positive (it’s ironic coming from me!) xx

Becky105 · 10/08/2021 14:06

@lawandgin I totally understand your disappointment, i had read into the percentages of fertilising then survival to blastocyst and it's lower than I had assumed. I had my call just now and of the 6 they were waiting to check today... Only 1 is suitable to be frozen so from 13 eggs to 5 viable embryos it's a crazy slash to get your head around. Try not to be disheartened though 3 is a good number to work with.
