Hi,

Is anyone else having or had a transfer this week? I need people to talk to during the TWW! x

Hi ladies. I realise I'm a bit behind most of you but can I join? Am hopefully due transfer today or tomorrow (day 2 or 3).

Lovely to see a couple of BFPs on here. @paitentlywaiting that is an amazing Hcg level! Congrats. I've met a few people online over the past year who had single embryo transfers that split spontaneously into twins so maybe you have two?!

@Goldilocks2528 good idea to take test day off work. I stupidly have annual leave booked for the 2WW but the way it has worked out my first day back is the test day! So that's not ideal either way!

Am just sitting here nervously waiting for my call from embryologist. I am much older so our odds aren't great but still hoping. We do have a toddler already from our second IVF cycle back in 2018.

Untilthelastpetal · 31/03/2021 07:55

@Ivfgottahope brown blood is fine, and a positive test is amazing especially if it's a strong line. Rest up and try enjoy (easier said than done I know)
@Janefx40 hi I only joined yesterday I'm 6dp5dt today, good luck for you call this morning it's a horrid wait isn't it.
I am on my way to London to my clinic for progesterone blood test, my OH said why not get a hcg test whilst there but I'm unsure x

Janefx40 · 31/03/2021 09:53

@Untilthelastpetal thanks for the welcome.

@Ivfgottahope yes I know it's impossible not to worry but cramping is totally normal. Being pregnant in those early weeks feels exactly like getting your period which is very disconcerting. I totally freaked during my first pregnancy and was certain I was miscarrying - my GP sent me to the early pregnancy unit and we saw a heartbeat. All went fine with the pregnancy. I have also had spotting in the past. Xxx

paitentlywaiting · 31/03/2021 10:24

@Janefx40 thanks! I was thinking it's Atleast a possibility but I'm probably just an outlier. I guess I'll know in a few weeks

Rachae · 31/03/2021 13:23

Hey @Janefx40 Smile Hope your transfer goes well today!
@paitentlywaiting ooo sounds like twins 😉

Well I'm on 3dp5dt and already thinking I'm out 😂 I think the hcg trigger shot has worn off and my boobs have stopped hurting.. Not tired today and no cramping. I guess I'll know on Sunday but feels like a usual week before period week for me. X

paitentlywaiting · 31/03/2021 13:34

@Rachae I didn't really get the sore boobs part although they are slightly heavier now and I thinks it's from the progesterone as they increased in size from before the transfer

Janefx40 · 31/03/2021 13:38

@Rachae 3pd5dt would be when the embryo would start implanting so no Hcg in the system yet from the embryo either way. I never had sore boobs through my whole last pregnancy. It's so frustrating but there is just no way of knowing for most of us. Fingers crossed x

Just had my transfer. Already stressing about everything and telling myself off for stressing!

Goldilocks2528 · 31/03/2021 15:42

Hi Ladies and welcome to the new ladies too!

@Ivfgottahope, it sounds like you had a really horrible and worrying day yesterday. I agree with what’s already been said, brown blood shouldn’t be an issue. Not that I’m an expert of course (!) but based on what I’ve been told and read. Also I’m sure the line wouldn’t have got stronger if it was anything to worry about. Hopefully you are feeling a lot better about it today x

I managed to get my test day off work, which is a big relief. Bought a pack of 3 pregnancy tests from Tesco earlier (early ones, I didn’t read them right in the shop, but I am not planning on testing early). It felt weird, like the first time I purchased condoms. Strange!

@Janefx40 I hope your transfer went ok. Try not to stress too much. You’ve done all you can now. Sadly waiting is the hard part. I am older too, by the way (41 in the summer). We were given a 9% or less chance of success. It’s crap being older isn’t it! Unfortunately I hadn’t met the man I wanted a family with until now, wish we had met each other years ago.

I hope everyone is keeping well. I am finding the days are really dragging, which is driving me slightly nutty. Only another 9 sleeps before I can test...... ARGGGHHHHHHHH.

Rachae · 31/03/2021 19:08

Thanks @paitentlywaiting and @Janefx40 I really appreciate that. I guess cos I've been preg 3 times in the past, I know I always get the same symptoms around day 24 of cycle and theyre not here yet 😔

So confused about implantation.. From what I was advised, the embryo implants on the day or day after transfer. With a normal conception, it takes up to 5 days because the egg is travelling still through the tubes. But they drop the embryo right by the wall so it's within 48 hours. Did I get advised wrong then? The science makes sense to me..

@Goldilocks2528 agreed on the days dragging! I keep reminding myself to enjoy the long weekend and not just pine until Sunday! Otherwise will be pretty miserable when I get back to work if it's all over. More period symptoms this afternoon... Craving a cheeseburger. It's legit my number one period sign 😂

Hope everyone is ok xx

Goldilocks2528 · 31/03/2021 19:29

Oh @Rachae, don’t give up yet. It might not be that. Are you on Cyclogest? I am sure it can mimic pmt symptoms as well. It’s a right bugger. Don’t give up hope, it may still be ok x

Goldilocks2528 · 31/03/2021 19:50

@Rachae Sorry forgot to say, I read that implantation on a day 5 transfer happened between 1 and 5 days of transfer. I don’t think it’s immediate.

I have read that in a few places, and my IVF diary (made by a lady who has been through it many times herself) says:

Day 5 Transfer
DPT
1 - The blastocyst begins to hatch out of its shell (mind had already stated that when it was transferred)
2 - The blastocyst begins to attach itself to the uterine lining
3 - The blastocyst attaches deeper into the uterus, implantation begins
4 - Implantation continues
5 - Implantation is complete, placenta and fetal cells begin to develop
6 - hCG starts to enter bloodstream
7 - Fetal development continues and hGC continues to be secreted
8 - Fetal development continues and hGC continues to be secreted
9 - Levels of hGC are now high enough to be detected on a hpt

Hope that helps x

Rachae · 31/03/2021 19:59

@Goldilocks2528 oh wow! How comprehensive, that's amazing thank you. Smile Such a reassurance in that case.. Yea I'm on 2 Cyclogest per day which I think is where the tiredness comes from.. Though I've felt quite energised for the first time, in like 7 weeks since starting IVF, today!
I just need to not assume then at only 3dp5dt! Xx

Ivfgottahope · 31/03/2021 20:32

Ah @Rachae, don’t think you’re out. Until this pesky bleeding started I had no symptoms - not even sore boobs - when I tested positive. The whole process is just filled with uncertainty and over analysing isn’t it, I hope you feel better tomorrow. Sunday is in sight - not long now.

Thank you for your lovely words @Goldilocks2528 - it has carried on today but it’s getting worse it’s just consistent. I stupidly started putting the cyclogest pessaries up my rear 😂 as I thought they me irritating my cervix but I’ve since read that for ivf you shouldn’t do that and stick to vaginal - hoping it’s just doctor google nonsense! I tested with different brand & non early hpt this morn so the line was fainter - the other hpts were first response 6 day early tests so I’m hoping the faint line is down to a lack of consistency! Using the original tomorrow so I’ll know better. I’m a bit more reigned today - if it’s mmc I’ll just have to deal with it and the devastation that’ll follow. Fretting at home isn’t helping - I’ve literally shut myself away from everyone for the last few days. Hope you’re ok and have lots to keep you busy for the 9 days ahead? X

Ivfgottahope · 31/03/2021 20:32

Sorry NTAs first sentence was meant to say it’s NOT getting worse @Goldilocks2528*

Goldilocks2528 · 31/03/2021 20:42

Evening @Ivfgottahope!
If it helps, my clinic told me to put them up the rear between collection and transfer. At the transfer they said I could continue doing that or switch to the front. I’m getting on with it ok, and I hear it’s less messy that way so for now I’m sticking with. I have also read that, but I think both are ok so just do whatever you feel is best.
Glad you’re doing ok today Smile

Goldilocks2528 · 31/03/2021 20:44

Sorry @Ivfgottahope I forgot I can’t edit my posts! I meant to say maybe try to do something that will take your mind off it, even if for an hour. Maybe your favourite film and a big bag of crisps or popcorn? Hope you are ok Flowers

Ivfgottahope · 31/03/2021 20:50

@Goldilocks2528 definitely less messy up the rear isn’t it 😂 I prefer it. If it’s just as effective I’ll stick to that for sure!

These are my HPT results. If anyone is a HPT analyst let me know your thoughts 😂😂😂 as you can see I’m still pulling in positives despite the bleeding and cramping x

Ivfgottahope · 31/03/2021 20:51

@Goldilocks2528 omg I haven’t stopped eating!! I’ve promised myself to pull myself together tomorrow x

paitentlywaiting · 31/03/2021 20:53

@Ivfgottahope those look like my tests and I had a very strong beta on day 10! Congrats

paitentlywaiting · 31/03/2021 20:54

Includes my photos

Transfer this week?
Ivfgottahope · 31/03/2021 20:57

@paitentlywaiting how are you feeling? Is a beta test when you go to the clinic for a blood test? I’m not sure I’ve heard of that but I’m totally new to this process. I’m going to the clinic on Tuesday for a blood test as things stand x

Ivfgottahope · 31/03/2021 21:24

@paitentlywaiting ignore me - I’ve seen it’s a HCG test which is what I’m going for 😊 I’m guessing if my bleeding means a mmc the. my beta reading would be low?

paitentlywaiting · 31/03/2021 21:40

Sorry I meant hcg test. My clinic calls it a beta :) your test seem to be getting darker so I would assume baby is still growing stronger. From what I read, mc is bright red blood and brown or old blood/discharge is fairly common for the first few weeks

Rachae · 31/03/2021 21:50

@ivfgottahope they all look like the line is getting stronger to me! I wouldn't say it would be a mmc at this stage if it was the worst... More something that didn't implant properly or a chemical? Possibly easier to deal with mentally than thinking about it as a miscarriage so early on. (I've had 2 mcs and 1 mmc at 10 weeks... Appreciate everyone's perception is different on pregnancy though xx)

I absolutely don't think this is happening to you though and it all sounds positive!! Smile xx

Ivfgottahope · 31/03/2021 21:58

@Rachae oh gosh I didn’t even know about chemicals... if it isn’t too upsetting me asking, was brown discharge a symptom? They did implant two embies so it has crossed my mind this could all be the result of the second not taking properly. Either way, after tonight I’m going to push everything to the back of my mind until I’ve had my blood test next week x
