Hi,

Is anyone else having or had a transfer this week? I need people to talk to during the TWW! x

Btw I’d just like to thank you all for being so kind and patient with offering me advice whilst I’m clearly in the midst of panic - I’m a natural worrier and had endless setbacks getting to transfer stage which hasn’t helped. You’ve all been so kind and reassuring the last few days which has helped enormously so thank you 😘

Rachae · 31/03/2021 22:05

@ivfgottahope no problem at all and I'm happy to try and reassure! Smile So the earliest MC I had was 6 and a half weeks.. The mmc was literally no symptoms. I just decided to go for a 9 week scan for reassurance and I guess that was a good thing to do in the end, rather than wait for 12 weeks (tho it's never any easier no matter when you find out!). With the others it was always red blood, not brown.

I really think this early on, it's got to be cervix or implantation. I think it's down to your own perception on what you believe the assisted reproduction is at this point, as to whether you consider it a miscarriage (in the sad event that the tests result change in some way).. Or some before 4 weeks pregnant call it a chemical as its likely an implantation problem.

Nothing to consider at this point tho.. As you're tests look great! Xx

@Ivfgottahope I think your test progression is absolutely perfect. Being anxious is totally normal. Before my first pregnancy I thought getting that BFP was the end point but actually the anxiety afterwards was so intense. I was literally out of my mind with worry for quite a while. We go through so much to get pregnant that the idea of losing it can be overwhelming.

Spotting doesn't mean anything bad at all. It's really normal but it is scary when it happens. It could be implantation or just your cervix being sensitive. Some women get a haematoma too which is harmless but causes bleeding. My friend had such a strong bleed it soaked through her clothes and her baby is now 4. It's impossible not to worry tho I know xxx

Ivfgottahope · 31/03/2021 22:53

@Rachae thank you... sounds like you’ve really been through it. I truly hope you get the positive outcome you deserve 🤞🏽

@Janefx40 you’ve absolutely hit the nail on the head. The BFP has just displaced previous fears with new ones and it sounds super ungrateful even vocalising that. Thank you for your lovely words xx

Goldilocks2528 · 01/04/2021 10:17

Morning @Ivfgottahope, I've read through all the latest messages and hopefully the other ladies on here have helped put your mind at rest somewhat. It's so lovely to have others to talk to at a time like this.

I have a water question.... Does anybody know when I can stop drinking so much of the stuff?! I'm so over it now. My EC was 9 days ago, surely its ok to stop shoving 3.5 litres down me every day now?

Sorry I also have a secondary question (I'll shut up again in a minute!). Is it ok to take antihistamines for hay fever? Mine started to kick in a few days ago but I've been too scared to take anything so I'm just a sniffy mess. Thanks Smile

Rachae · 01/04/2021 10:56

Thanks @Ivfgottahope Smile its been a difficult few years.. To be honest I'm just made up this cycle that we got frozen. Before we thought the poor embryos were the reason for the mcs. I can take it if it doesn't work out this time as we have a much more hopeful road ahead. I was also treated for the mcs and they found causes in January.

@Goldilocks2528 oo not heard of the water thing! What's that about? I think I drink that anyway I'm always thirsty 😂 Omg I've been thinking the same thing about hayfever! Unfortunately my doc says no, but I take the prescribed ones not over the counter xx

Goldilocks2528 · 01/04/2021 11:01

Hi @Rachae , Sorry to read about all you've been through. It must have been very hard for you. Glad to see though that you feel ok about this round though.

Re the water. My clinic told me to drink at least 3 litres of water a day because it helps prevent headaches and dehydration caused when you're injecting the meds, and then helps prevent OHSS after EC.

Ivfgottahope · 01/04/2021 11:08

@Rachae glad to hear you’ve a more hopeful journey ahead and getting the right care and treatment at your clinic.

@Goldilocks2528 thank you, you all truly have been an enormous help. I’ve been really private about the whole process (OH’s request) so it doesn’t feel quite so isolating when you have people experiencing similar. With regards to water, you can definitely reduce it if you want to now your EC was a while ago. I gave it a couple of days after mine.

Out of interest, where is everyone based? X

Goldilocks2528 · 01/04/2021 11:15

Fab, thank you @Ivfgottahope!

I'm in Devon Smile

Janefx40 · 01/04/2021 12:35

I'd like to stop drinking water too! I'll maybe give it a couple of days. Also my clinic make you drink 1 litre of milk a day. Not sure when I can stop that. I hate it!

We live on the Hertfordshire/Buckinghamshire border but we do our treatment in central London

Xxx

Janefx40 · 01/04/2021 12:36

Oh one more thing. I had a tiny bit of spotting this morning. I know that can be normal as only 4 days post EC. But (I know this might be a super stupid question) but given that the embryos can't have attached yet, if blood can come out of me, how can I know that the embryos haven't just fallen out?

Rachae · 01/04/2021 13:04

I'm based near Durham, a village called Wynyard x
@Janefx40 did you mean 4 days past transfer, not EC? If so I think that sounds like implantation bleeding... I don't think they can fall out 😂 xx

Janefx40 · 01/04/2021 14:28

Hi @Rachae I'm 4 days past EC, 1 day past transfer as I had a Day 2 transfer. I'm sure you're right and they can't fall out!! Just being paranoid Grin

Goldilocks2528 · 01/04/2021 16:00

Hi @Janefx40, I'm positive they cant fall out, don't worry about that. I think some spotting is normal, my clinic warned me about that when I had my transfer x

Janefx40 · 01/04/2021 19:54

Thank you. Sorry I know I must sound so silly even voicing that. Especially considering this is my 4th transfer too so not my first rodeo!

Ivfgottahope · 01/04/2021 20:20

@Janefx40 I’m the queen of bleeding paranoia as you can probably tell 🤣 so don’t worry. Apparently they can’t fall out, I grilled the consultant after my transfer! That spotting could be a positive sign though 🤞🏽x

Rachae · 02/04/2021 08:56

Morning everyone and happy Bank hol! Anyone know much about the cervix? I was having real trouble inserting a pessary today and when I checked my cervix is like mega low. I can't work out if the tip is hard or soft but I'm guessing low is a bad sign and AF is imminent. Wondered if anyone has heard anything different? Confused xx

Goldilocks2528 · 02/04/2021 11:32

Hi @Rachae I’m sorry I don’t know 🙁

Janefx40 · 02/04/2021 12:22

@Rachae I'm afraid I've never understood the cervix. The few occasions I'be tried to have a feel, I've not been able to work it out. I would say tho that you are on so many drugs that your body won't be behaving as normal anyway. So even if you aren't pregnant, you won't necessarily get the same symptoms of AF you would usually.

Btw I personally prefer back door Progesterone. I find it much easier and less messy x

Rachae · 02/04/2021 12:38

Thanks both! X
Well I've had terrible period cramps all morning and usual signs last night for me.. Sleeplessness, night sweats and not hungry at all today. I think it might be inevitable as I've searched online and low cervix means body is ready for period. I think maybe the progestrone is delaying the bleed. Ah well, if I make it to Sunday the test will confirm either way! Xx

Goldilocks2528 · 02/04/2021 12:43

Have everything crossed that it’s not that @Rachae. I have never been able to work out why mine feels lower than some other times, I just know that I’ve noticed on occasion that it is.

I had quite bad cramps last night too, but I’ve had cramps almost constantly since before transfer. I’m not sure that cramps necessarily mean something bad. I’ve read lots of ladies who have said they had terrible cramping and thought it was over, but went on to get their bfp x

Janefx40 · 02/04/2021 12:52

@Rachae I really hope the cramps etc don't mean your AF is coming. My understanding is that the AF symptoms are caused by hormonal changes particularly progesterone levels dropping because there is no pregnancy. But after transfer you are taking cyclogest so your progesterone levels can't drop or at least aren't such a reliable indicator.

Also I always used to get menstrual migraines exactly 3 days before a period which I assumed came from hormonal changes. The cycle I got pregnant with my DD I had my usual migraine at exactly the normal time. I was convinced this meant I wasn't pregnant but I was! You obviously know your body better than anyone else but the body can do weird and surprising things too

Fingers crossed for you xxx

Rachae · 02/04/2021 13:51

Thanks ladies xx I really appreciate your kind thoughts xx

Rachae · 02/04/2021 17:04

How's everyone else holding up? Xx

IloveHaroldBishop · 02/04/2021 21:00

All ok here thanks. Still no symptoms but I’m just trying to keep busy and remember it is all down to luck and my womb now!!
