1st IVF mid April

Thought it would be nice to start a thread for anyone starting IVF next month

My period is due mid April

Just finishing off getting last few swabs and bloods done ✅

We've got a prescription so will be getting our drugs.

Then we are all set !

Anyone else ? For me it's my 1st cycle ivf
38yrs
Unexplained fertility with 1 previous child ( she's 9yrs)

Feeling excited to start this journey x

Can I join? Also doing first IVF in April, short protocol, have done 2 days of menopur so far. It’s all a bit daunting. They’ve not given a collection estimate yet, next scan in 5 days.
I’m 41, first attempt, same sex couple so we haven’t ‘ttc’d’. My AMH was over 20 and baseline 14 follicles, so hoping it goes ok as quality is more likely to be the issue!
So far finding the injections ok, mixing them was a bit faffy, the needle doesn’t hurt but I’ve found my leg hurts for half hour or so after.

@strawberrysummer19 You’ll laugh when you open the box. The bit that needs to be in the fridge is a flat blister pack and the rest is syringes. For mine the instructions told you everything except how to get the mixer needle out...

Oh really? Ha we were putting them away and it's taken up a shelf in our fridge ! We've a fairly small fridge anyway. Would you suggest opening them to just refrigerate the bit I need to ?

That was my assumption, but I’m neither a pharmacist nor a healthcare professional, so wouldn’t like to confirm!

Yes that's right. That other box is just the syringes etc. Just the drug that goes in the fridge. Are you starting tonight? So excited for you 😆

@Aprilia123 Welcome to the group! Your AMH and follicles sound really promising.
It is so daunting I'm the same. Just try and take each day as it comes. It's easier said than done I know. I'm on day 10 of stims. They probs won't give you an estimate of egg collection till later on, they need to see how you'll respond.
I was on such a low dose my body wasn't doing much to begin with and they upped the dose and they all started growing! It's crazy each day is so different. Good luck . Any questions just ask xx

I'm not starting yet, waiting for my period so about 11 days now. I have to call up on day 1 where I will have baseline scan day 2 or 3

I've put a days leave in for end of the month and as I also have a day off in the week so I'm hoping it will cover ec - I can actually swap days off so hoping I can get away with that x

You've done well to leave them unopened, i couldn't resist. The only injection demo we had was via youtube, so had them open to know what we had to deal with.

The science of it is so interesting.. as they must need to get the stim levels right for each person, which could be so different. Did they need to up your dose by much? X

I didn't even think to open them! Glad I did now. We've had no instructions either
My clinic said they will show me at my baseline scan.

I know it's crazy isn't it. I'm on 450 so I'm under the impression that's the highest dose ?!

Hi all,

To those of you doing short protocol, did you get your meds in advance? My clinic have said to call on day 1 but I'm meant to start meds on day 2 so that seems really odd to me, unless they do same day/next day delivery?

That does seem a bit late ? I got my prescription about a month before ?
Our clinic said we can shop around for our drugs and suggested that Asda pharmacy are the cheapest ( our clinic prices were £1,850 and we got them in Asda for £1,350) so it saved a lot.

I would ask my clinic about that if I were you

@Millie029 What day stims are you on?
They upped my dose from 150 to 225 of menopur on day 7. I'd say I'm a bit behind timeline was because the lower dose wasn't doing much. They just worry cus my AMH is in the 70s. I just hope I get enough eggs. Predicted egg collection is weds. I had a scan today that showed 23 follicles on the bigger side but all variable. And then some smaller ones which they don't even count. There's only one that's the correct size at 18mm. I suppose a lot can happen between now and Monday! That's hopefully when I'll be triggering. I am getting fed up though now. Nearly 2 weeks of stims urgh. But whatever it takes eh! Xx

@swirls3468 sounds promising! I'm on menopur too and also have fyremadel but no idea when I take them ?! Hoping I find out when I have my baseline scan. Also have gonasai and a shed load of pessaries - 3 a day for 21 days!

You’re on about the same as me and they gave base instruction and gave me a practice kit, but the rest is given on the day.
I’m on 300 and thought that was high but I guess they adjust.
The vague instruction I’ve had is the fyramedel will be same time as the menopur after 6 or so days.

@TubelessWonder We got our meds about 3 weeks before as well - if you want to shop around maybe speak to them? We did just get them from our clinic pharmacy for ease.

@strawberrysummer19 I was hoping EC would be earlier than weds ! Starting to not feel good now and very anxious.
They will tell you when to take Fyremadel. I started on day 7 but I think most people it's day 5 X

Three days of menopur done and I can definitely feel my ovaries today - not painful as such, but I can feel them. Is this normal...?

Hi @Aprilia123 I was day 4 of Fostimon yesterday and I can feel mine too and feeling quite bloated. It’s good to know I’m not the only one!

Oh that'll be good. I'd have preferred to be actually shown how to do the injections. Especially the ones where you have to mix fluid and powder.
It might not be? I think the amounts will probably vary between the individual and the drugs given x

Today is day 4. On gonal-f 150ul.
I can understand your worry about getting enough eggs. My AMH is also in it's 70s and I'm aware they've reduced the amount of drugs because of that. I guess it's better to up the amount if needed, rather than risk the chance of OHSS.. it just means more injections 😒
Ooh ok, it sounds like that extra 75uls is working nicely - fingers crossed your folicles keep growing so you have plenty ready for Wednesday! How are you feeling about the egg collection?

@Millie029 how are you feeling so far? Do you have PCOS?
I'm nervous about egg collection but kind of just want it over with now. It's really dragged out tbh, I'm on day 13 on stims! I never imagined to be on them this long but it's because I was on a low dose for 5 days and my body wasn't responding much. My boobs are killing I'm worried I've already ovulated. I'm a bit bloated but not too bad. Keep getting A lot of EWCM which I've had for days and it is plentiful. I have a scan tomorrow. Hoping we can trigger tomorrow. How is everyone else? Xxx
