Is anyone starting ivf in March/April?
Have had confirmation today I will be starting treatment in March. Been prescribed norethisterone, which I have to take CD21 of my next period (due next week).

@beachbum85

Thank you for that, that's useful information. I was going to go private if I didn't get seen by the NHS by summer but thankfully my first appointment came through. Im with Birmingham Womens so i assume the process is similar at most NHS hospitals. I was worried incase the waiting time to start was longer than 6 months which it doesn't seem to be. Keep in touch. Be great to know how you get on. Smile

hopefulhel · 23/02/2021 17:43

@noirberry19 my clinic said if estrogen levels are above 14000 they recommend a freeze all. My levels were 13646 so they recommended it. From some research I did it seems if your estrogen is high it can affect implantation and also high estrogen levels and a large number of follicles can be an indication of ohss. I was advised by my clinic to only trigger with my decapeptyl injection and not to use the ovitrelle injection. Hoping tomorrow goes well and we have some eggs to fertilise. My review appointment with the clinic isn't until April 2nd which is a bit disappointing as I was hoping to have a set date for transfer after tomorrow but it's not looking likely.

Donimo · 23/02/2021 18:22

@Hazza2021 I am sure they know what they are doing with the scans. They are obviously risk assessing the need for scans over the risk of bringing people into the clinic and risking spreading covid.

I am not sure if I reduce my bureselin when starting stims. I have just looked at my treatment plan and it says to take 0.5mls of bureselin each morning. Then for my baseline scan on 8th March, if thats ok to start Bemfola on the 9th and continue taking bureselin as directed (guess they will confirm what I need to take and when on the 8th!)

@hopefulhel good luck for tomorrow and let us know how you get on.

@PurpleUnicorn01 I am from the Midlands too! We are through The Fertility Partnership Burton Satellite, the clinic is in Nottingham but you only go there for the egg collection and transfer.

What stage are you at? Have you had bloods and scans etc?

Our first ever appointment was March last year then had bloods, SA, scans, HSG, we paid private in December to have the pelvic scan as delays with NHS and then 12th Jan agreed to proceed. I think we had our first referral in October.

PurpleUnicorn01 · 23/02/2021 19:12

@6543336787gesgvjhg

Woaw that's great! Im at the beginning stage so just had my referal to gynaecology however my gp already did my progesterone and my partners SA. Im so excited for you.

CurbsideProphet · 23/02/2021 19:34

Hello all (shy wave),

I found out yesterday that we're good to go. First / only NHS round. Due to start norethisterone in a fortnight, but they seem to have forgotten already that I have epilepsy and norethisterone won't work with my medication 😬
Feeling anxious but trying to stay optimistic. DH is very worried about what I will go through.

I'll catch up with all of the posts now 🙂

PurpleUnicorn01 · 23/02/2021 19:48

@CurbsideProphet

I hope it goes well for you. What was your wait time from your first appointment to gynaecologist to starting?

The posts prior to this are really helpful. Good luck Smile

CurbsideProphet · 23/02/2021 20:15

Hi @PurpleUnicorn01
We were referred to NHS fertility clinic in October but decided to see the same consultant privately rather than wait until January. He did our NHS referral for IVF in November.
We started ttc in October 2019. I had a chemical pregnancy in early January 2020. Then months of being told the problem was just with me not being relaxed enough 😬
I'm 35 and my AMH is classed as low (6.8). DH has a slight issue caused by childhood surgery. Just unlucky 😔

PurpleUnicorn01 · 23/02/2021 20:31

@CurbsideProphet, lol i know right seriously i get told I need to relax all the time. My AMH is normal thankfully I hope it goes well for you. We know we have a male factor issue.

Narwhal88 · 23/02/2021 21:35

@ForeverHopeful17 my meds arrived today. So the menopur comes with its own needles and syringes. The fyremadel is a pre filled syringe with needle. Depends what other injections you are doing, if using buserelin then you will need some needles, I have 4 packs of them (syringes with needles, 1ml 29g.) for some reason even though I only have this as a trigger (so would only be 1 injection). If you need to know anything then let me know.

Noirberry19 · 23/02/2021 21:55

@hopefulhel literally only thought it was freeze all if risk of ohss. Learning something new all the time..so complex!
I can't imagine how disappointed you must feel. Understandable though and the right decision if it can affect implantation etc.
Wishing you all the luck for tomorrow 🍀

@hopefulhel I'm sorry you have to wait so long to find out about your FET. I hope tomorrow goes really well and this cycle ends on a high note for you... will be thinking of you x

hi @CurbsideProphet! I seem to recognize your name from the Conception boards... I was a bit of a follower/stalker until I realised it was getting me down. I'm glad your turn has come and I hope they sort your medication out soon :)
I'm also 35 with a low AMH (5.8) and my partner is pretty worried about me too, although no particular reason and just the thought of our bodies being pushed to the limit, I guess.

Noirberry19 · 24/02/2021 07:54

@hopefulhel good luck! Let us know how you get on x

@beachbum85 yes I've just realised that I recognise your name and @hopefulhel 💐
I had to move away from the conception groups. I'm sorry to see you both over here too, but we're on our way now 💐

PurpleUnicorn01 · 24/02/2021 10:20

Ramdom question guys who are on the NHS, do they transfer 1 embryo or 2?Smile

IVFbabyF · 24/02/2021 10:45

@PurpleUnicorn01 we are also going through NHS, the full process is currently at 5 months and now just waiting for AF to then start..... eeek! We have been advised they will only be transferring 1 embryo, which is standard for our area.

PurpleUnicorn01 · 24/02/2021 10:51

@IVFbabyF omg I am so excited for you!!!!! 5 months isn't bad. I assume you have started your medication already. Which NHS trust are you with? Will this be your first go too?

beachbum85 · 24/02/2021 11:10

@CurbsideProphet I'm sorry to see you here too xx
I do feel this is a much more supportive space and I'm so glad to have found this group where we're all moving forward, and more-or-less on the same path :)

@PurpleUnicorn01 I was told that they will decide on 1 or 2 embryos depending on the situation: if embryo quality is high, only 1, but if there are only 2 embryos available and not great quality they might decide to transfer both, and if 2 rounds of IVF have failed, they could transfer 2 as well. I think age is a factor in that decision as well...
It would be worth asking when you have your consultation :)

PurpleUnicorn01 · 24/02/2021 11:13

@beachbum85

Thank you for that. I will definitely ask when i speak to my consultant.

I agree this support page is fantastic!

ForeverHopeful17 · 24/02/2021 11:16

Thank you sooo much @Narwhal88 that is honestly so helpful! My clinic hasn't confirmed what I will be using to trigger yet but Buserelin was listed as a potential so I'll bare that in mind. It must be feeling even more real now that your meds have arrived!!! I'm going to pop into Asda to place my order today, last time I went they said Fyremadel was out of stork which is super annoying as it's a lot more expensive everywhere else, hopefully it will be back in soon.

Good luck with egg collection today @hopefulhel x

hopefulhel · 24/02/2021 11:36

Ladies the doctors just been in and she told me they collected 17 eggs. I should get a call tomorrow to let me know how many have fertilised. Then the next call with be next Tuesday (day 6) to see if anything made it to be frozen

beachbum85 · 24/02/2021 11:42

That's such a good number @hopefulhel! Congratulations!! Very glad for you :)
Fingers crossed for great numbers tomorrow and Tuesday too!

elsaesmeralda · 24/02/2021 11:49

@hopefulhel woo great news! I also had 17 collected and we ended up with 9 blasts in the freezer, I have a good feeling for you 🤞🏻🤞🏻

hopefulhel · 24/02/2021 12:17

Thanks everyone. For some reason I had a figure of 15 in my head. My husband said 16 this morning on our way to the clinic. I was hoping to get a good number because I am aware they might not all (or any) fertilise and then there's a drop off after they make it to day five or six. Going to rest up for the afternoon.

PurpleUnicorn01 · 24/02/2021 12:23

@hopefulhel, Congratulations great news!
