Is anyone starting ivf in March/April?
Have had confirmation today I will be starting treatment in March. Been prescribed norethisterone, which I have to take CD21 of my next period (due next week).

Hi everyone! Sorry I've gone quiet, just been trying to learn to cope with the dreaded TWW! sounds like there are some great updates with BPFs, scans and egg collections! Got my fingers crossed for you all🤞🏻

granddesigns · 27/03/2021 11:45

Thanks for all the lovely comments and @SpyroC too - people are probably very confused by your sibling comments though- on a thread a year ago there were 3 of us whose cycles were in total sync - then Covid came along and different outcomes etc meant we ended up on different threads! It's funny, I was wondering yesterday how you were both Doing too! I'm happy but nervous so counting down to the 7 week scan which we never made it to last time - I know there's no reason the same would happen but can't quite shake the thought yet!

Good luck to those taking the next step this weekend and in the coming days-
In terms of tips.... it's just survival I think, drinking plenty as others have said, eating well, sleeping when you need to and taking it a step at a time. I was not 100% last weekend but pretty sure that was due to the progesterone overload my body was adjusting to- seems to have settled for now though - so many extra things to contend with when you go this route!

Sungirl11 · 27/03/2021 11:47

@Narwhal88 wow 8!!! Well done! That is a great number! And transfer booked in woho exciting!

@Itstime1 2 out of 3 is great too! Glad it worked in the end.

@ForeverHopeful17 I already have the lubion at home, prescribed from the beginning. Not sure the reason, i thought we all had the same meds (which we obviously don't haha).

I'm still waiting very impatiently for the 7th to arrive! Had the Prostap injection and feel completely normal... there are all these common side effects that i don't have... makes me think it's done nothing to me xD ooops

RedFaerieBoots · 27/03/2021 12:39

Transfer done. They say it was a really good one Smile. Second one they are letting catch up as its not far behind and we will be hopefully freezing it.

This one was a really quick transfer - to the point even they were like oh someone can't wait to go home. They all seemed really positive. So now we wait...this really isn't my forte!!

DP now has a new appreciation for us needing smears after today. He was like I thought you exaggerated Hmm

6543336787gesgvjhg · 27/03/2021 14:34

@RedFaerieBoots glad it all went well. I have my transfer planned for Tuesday - will get an update on Monday to confirm.

What to expect? Do they talk you through everything and show you or on the screen? How long was the appointment?

My hubby is working away from Monday so I'll be going on my own x

RedFaerieBoots · 27/03/2021 14:53

@6543336787gesgvjhg - On being called in we went up to reception and had temp checks. Then went downstairs to the treatment area and were taken through to a recovery room. Nurse checked us in and told us the process then embryologist came in and gave us an update, their views and we discussed plan for implant vs freezing. I got changed into a nightie minus pants. We had surgical covers for feet.

Once ready they took us through and I was told to sit on edge of bed. Got settled with legs in stirrups with modesty sheet lol.

Process is a bit like a smear - they use that to open, then clean anything from cervix area. Then a catheter is added in. There's an tummy ultrasound to guide in. Then they come back with another catheter tube that fits inside. They fill it with fluid embryo then more fluid. That tube goes inside the main catheter. Then when in place they release the contents in.

We got photos of embryo in womb which was something we didn't expect.

Then afterwards the inner tube came out and they took away to double check it was empty. Then they removed catheter and tong things.

Got me to sit straight up and then stand. Within a min was back in room to have a pee (oh you have to have a semi full bladder). Then got dressed and discharge process was done. Took about 1.5hrs in total at a rough estimate. Went in at 11.30 and got out pretty much at 1pm.

6543336787gesgvjhg · 27/03/2021 15:48

@RedFaerieBoots awww thank you that really helps. It's also confirmed that I'll need to book half a day off work as the clinic is 40 minutes away as well. They have said to get there 15/30 mins early on the form thing.

I hope I get those pictures too Smilehave they given you a date to test or will you go back for a blood test? Do they give you a pregnancy test? Xx

RedFaerieBoots · 27/03/2021 15:56

We have to go back for bloods on 7th April.

I hope so as well (photos) will be really nice as your going alone.

Crazydoglady123 · 27/03/2021 17:23

Hey ladies, did anyone have buserelin on cd21 for down regs and did anyone not ovulate before starting them?

Sungirl11 · 27/03/2021 17:53

@RedFaerieBoots that is my starting date!!
Could be a starting day of something special for both!! Fingers crossed.

Orsh · 27/03/2021 18:56

Great to hear that you are progressing nicely @IVFbabyF. So exciting. I am sorry you were not feeling well after your appointment, I hope you feel better now. When is AF due?

I am okay, looking forward to Thursday when I hope to get some information of next steps and details. Also, I think I am crazy emotional on the oestrogen. Is that normal? I am only 3 days in on Progynova, but I cry very easily that leads to a laughing fit. Anyone had similar experience?

Congratulations on your BFP @granddesigns. Amazing news 🤗

Good luck for tomorrow @beachbum85!

Great news that such good numbers fertilised @Narwhal88 and @6543336787gesgvjhg.

I hope you are not feeling too uncomfortable @Bethpalmer20. 40 follicles is a great number, but also a lot. I hope you will have great number of mature eggs too that fertilize.

I am glad that you had a better result at your scan this time @Donimo. I hope you will have even better news next time.

It's so nice to hear that your ET was a rather good experience @RedFaerieBoots. Thank you for sharing the step-by-step guidance with us, it is very helpful.

Good luck for all ETs and ECs in the next couple of days!

Hazza2021 · 27/03/2021 19:52

So I had my transfer today. All 5 had made it but poor quality. I had 1 blastocyst which was 3cc and a compacted embryo. The other 3 have been left until Monday but she didn’t seem very hopeful. So I had two put back in. I sort of feel disappointed that they wasn’t better quality but I am praying at least one of these two make it 🤞🏻

Hazza2021 · 27/03/2021 20:02

Or both of them. Test date for me is 6th april. I think I’m going to find it hard to relax the next few days especially with a 15 month old but I have plenty of family around me.

Donimo · 27/03/2021 20:40

@Itsjustme2021 glad your collection went well. And you had 2 fertilise. Good luck for monday.

@Narwhal88 good news on your 8 embroyos. Hope they grow and develop well over the next few days

@TTCbabyH how are you feeling? When do you test?

@RedFaerieBoots glad your transfer went well. Hope you got some rest today. Fingers crossed it sticks for you

@Crazydoglady123 I started bureselin on day 21. Presume I had ovulated prior to starting the injections as my cycles are normally approx 27 days. But I track my ovulation to check I am afraid.

@Orsh I haven't been overly emotional (but a little). I think its understand with the amount of hormones etc we are injecting.

@Hazza2021 sorry you haven't got great quality embryos. But stay positive it can still happen. And you might even get twins! How would you feel about that? Hope you manage to get a bit of rest

@beachbum85 good luck for your transfer tomorrow

TTCbabyH · 27/03/2021 21:10

@Donimo I'm doing okay! Ive not felt anything yet (only slight cramps on transfer day) but I feel completely normal... slightly tired but I'm not sure if that's just from all stress! no idea no symptoms is a good or bad sign! Don't test until the 3rd April so got a week to go still! How's everything going your side?

beachbum85 · 27/03/2021 23:38

@RedFaerieBoots Congrats on the transfer!! I'm so glad you have a good one and I hope its a sticky one too! Hoping the second one will be frozen...
Thanks so much for describing the process, I had no idea what to expect! Really hoping for photos too now, but I doubt we'll have any being on the NHS.
I'm glad you didn't get any of these side effects... it was 24h from hell :( luckily much better today

@Hazza2021 congrats on your transfer too! I'm sorry the quality was disappointing but fingers crossed that one or two make it - they wouldn't have transferred if they didn't think they could. Good luck for good news on Monday too x

@Donimo very glad your cycle wasn't cancelled and great to see those 2 follicles show up! I hope you keep responding to the meds to get a good number of those Easter eggs :)

@Narwhal88 great news that 8 have fertilised!! It's all so tough and such a waiting game and test of patience on top of the emotional sturggle. Warriors for sure xx

@ForeverHopeful17 hope the trigger went well and good luck for Monday!

@6543336787gesgvjhg good luck for Monday's update and Tuesday's transfer! My partner is not allowed into the transfer so I'll be going alone tomorrow too x

@Itstime1 great that you got all 3 and both fertilised - will you transfer them both? good luck for Monday you too!

@TTCbabyH glad you're feeling fine and I hope this week flies for you. And for everyone else on the tww as well!

Hi @RichmondLady1981 sorry to hear about your mmc. I hope you get another successful round and a embryo to transfer this time round :)

Thanks for the well wishes lovelies, I'm looking forward to tomorrow and I can't believe we're getting to the transfer phase... feels like ages ago that we started the journey, but the past month has flown. I'm very grateful to have you all for company and support :) and sorry if I missed anyone - it was a lot to catch up on today! xx

Ganiyatou · 28/03/2021 00:08

@granddesigns congratulations on your BFP
@TTCbabyH I have opposite reactions to you. I have cramps most of the time. Today I started to feel pain like periods. I don't know if it's a good sign or not.

KB2209 · 28/03/2021 07:41

@Hazza2021 did you have the embryos PGS tested? If not, don't worry... blastocyst is just one aspect of embryo quality. Other is if they are genetically normal or not. Body is super intelligent, it only accepts those that are. I have seen a number of examples on other threads where embryos were a stage or 2 behind blastocyst but people got pregnant and went on to have happy healthy babies. Good luck, take good care next 2 weeks. Fingers crossed you get the result you want

Hazza2021 · 28/03/2021 09:55

@KB2209 Thanks for replying. One of them just made blastocyst but was 3cc and the other was a compacted so didn’t quite make it. I have just got my fingers and toes crossed at least one of them make it.

6543336787gesgvjhg · 28/03/2021 10:02

@beachbum85 thank you. How are you feeling after EC? I have pain in my ovaries. Didn't take any painkillers Friday as it was ok but yesterday and this morning it's painful. Just like ovulation pain but more severe. Anyone else had this? Does it go? Can I do anything to help it?

Crazydoglady123 · 28/03/2021 10:07

Thanks @Donimo. I can't use OPKS as get false LH surges. I'm on a Clomid cycle currently but we decided to abstain and not TTC on it and start my buserelin cd21. Glad I did as I've over stimulated on the Clomid and legally they tell you to abstain. I had a private scan yesterday (cd17) and have 6 large follicles on my left ovary (50mm, 34mm, 32mm, 31mm, 28mm, 24mm) but reading up online since I think they're now classed as follicular cysts so I don't think I can ovulate now? I managed to message my NHS consultant who is tracking the Clomid cycle yesterday (a bit sneakily as I found him on Instagram) and if I feel unwell go to a&e but he'll re scan in two weeks but I said to him I start my private IVF by then and meant to start my buserelin on Wednesday. He said the buserelin will help shrink the follicles but my private IVF consultant said on my appointment a couple of weeks ago to take the buserelin if I've ovulated so I'm now super confused 😐

TTCbabyH · 28/03/2021 10:38

@Ganiyatou let's hope it's just every women is different and it's a positive outcome for us both. I really thought I'd feel something or "different" by now!

Itstime1 · 28/03/2021 11:59

@beachbum85 thanks! Going from a potential cancellation to having the news tow have fertilised is ok, nothing is ever certain but we’re getting there!

They won’t allow me to transfer both even if they are both ok as I’m only 27. They highly highly recommend we stick to one but we will talk it through again with them on Monday. Good luck for Monday!

The wait to see how they are progressing is hard though, we don’t get updates for Day2 as they don’t look at them, they leave them until the morning of day 3 so anxiously wishing the days away at the moment.

@6543336787gesgvjhg I didn’t have any pain after my EC on Friday, yesterday I felt a bit of pressure and couldn’t walk as fast as I would normally but no pain. I’m sorry your in pain, could you ring the clinic to see what they advise for you?

Lclarke111 · 28/03/2021 14:43

Hey all,

So sorry I haven't been on for a week, been a busy week with starting stims, hubby's 40th will be our egg collection day (Easter Monday) so I have been putting the plans together for it.

I am on day 6, I was on 75 meriofort and 75 fostimon. Had first scan today- 21 follicles so far and developing well but FSH a little low so upping the fostimon to 150ml.

Has anyone else had their medication changed? Did it make a difference?

Thanks all and going to do a catch up on posts x

Lclarke111 · 28/03/2021 14:54

Also can I ask how many follicles everyone had from their first scan at day 6 to their final one? X
