Is anyone starting ivf in March/April?
Have had confirmation today I will be starting treatment in March. Been prescribed norethisterone, which I have to take CD21 of my next period (due next week).

@Crazydoglady123 you would need to know it is staying between 2-8 so you could use a fridge thermometer, we have those in our pharmacy fridges. My fridge at home tells me the temperature. I'm probably a bit OTT with it as we have to be really careful at work as I look after £5million worth of stock and have to think of patient safety 🤪

@Lclarke111 yes my nurse said it has to be at the exact same time each day, 15 mins either side at the maximum. I do mine at 8pm and will do the morning ones at 8am from Sunday.

beachbum85 · 19/03/2021 21:49

@Lclarke111 @Donimo @Tarsette thank you!
EC set for Tues morning (trigger Sun evening) and keeping my fingers crossed very tightly for a decent number :)
I'm feeling pretty excited! It's such a cliche but it really feels like a rollercoaster... after Wed scan I was worried, after today's I was hopeful, now I'm really excited, and a bit nervous because suddenly it feels like things are going very fast, but I'm looking forward to it!

@Tarsette thanks for the coconut water tip! How long were you feeling unwell afterwards? I'm not sure how many days off I need from work...

@Itstime1 I'm sorry it's going slowly for you and the scan was not great, but there is still time... I had 4 follicles go from smaller than 10mm to 11-12mm in just 2 days. I hope you'll experience a jump in size - I know it's tough but stay hopeful :)

@Hazza2021 I'm glad your scan went well and you have a good number! Good luck for Monday x

@TTCbabyH everyone is different... but I think 10 gives you very good chances. Don't be sad :) Keeping my fingers crossed for good news about fertilisation!

@Lclarke111 like @Donimo I was told to do Buserelin in the morning and Gonal F in the evening. I do them within the same hour slot. The trigger is the one that needs to be done at exactly the time they specify.

@Bahare it's my first cycle too, so I have no experience, but don't give up until OTD!

beachbum85 · 19/03/2021 21:52

Just seeing @Donimo and @Narwhal88's instructions about 15min either side - that is good to know! My clinic said 'around the same time' with no numbers, so I was quite relaxed about it, but from now on I'll definitely be more careful! @Lclarke111 ignore my previous message!

Crazydoglady123 · 19/03/2021 21:54

@Narwhal88 yeah I have loads of fridge thermometers at work I can pinch one. If it arrives tomorrow I might test it out over the weekend and check the temperatures regularly. Oh wow that is A LOT of stock 😱

Bigbb · 19/03/2021 22:07

@beachbum85
Thank you for the positivity
For everyone asking about taking medication I was told to take it when ever I like but at the same time so I started with buserelin which I took 7pm everyday and then for the gonalf I took this 5 min later
But for the ovitrelle the trigger injection the nurse will tell you when to take each medication and my doctor told me to reduce some of my medication due to that i was responding very good
Good luck everyone with the process I am now at the end of this journey fingerscrossed for Sunday Smile

I'm looking to start IVF sort of April/may time. But I'm not sure on what to do regarding covid jabs. I was hoping some one could share with me their thoughts. I've not received my covid jab and I'm thinking it's going to take months before I'm called up for my first jab then obviously it's 12 weeks till you receive the second jab. Is any body else delaying their IVF treatment till they've had the covid jab? Or going ahead anyway without it?

Narwhal88 · 20/03/2021 09:32

@Bigbb fingers crossed for you for tomorrow xx

@futuremum234 I've had both my covid jabs but I personally wouldn't have delayed IVF to wait for it. I take it you aren't at increased risk since you haven't been called yet?

futuremum234 · 20/03/2021 09:40

@Narwhal88 no I'm not at an increased risk but I do work in a busy day nursery. Unfortunately that doesn't class me as a front line worker so I'm unable to get the jab any earlier than my age bracket. I'm just unsure on what to do. 3 years I've waited to conceive naturally and now at the point where I've been pushed through for IVF as 'unexplained infertility'.

RedFaerieBoots · 20/03/2021 10:21

@Futuremum234 - I can answer this. Incredibly ragey about it but I can. You can have vaccine up until just before egg collection. I'm a moderate-severe asthmatic so was originally in group six priority. Then UK Gov's JCVI kicked out 1.4million of us (clearly to meet targets as its not following the science that says and continues to say we have a 2x risk vs healthy people of hospitalisation, ICU care & long covid. In fact women with asthma have a 4x risk) because we aren't at risk of dying Hmm. It has caused so many issues and confusion with GPs/healthboards and asthmatics.

So been a bit ragey because group 6 fitted in perfectly. I'm a bit anxious as well because being unvaccinated especially if this is successful which I hope it is, is scary.

If you have an increased risk because of underlying condition or your place of work then you can be vaccinated in pregnancy. My healthboard won't do it before 20week scan though.

One of my friends works in NHS so she got hers at 25weeks. Absolutely fine no issues with her or baby.

Hope this helps a bit Smile

@Beachbum85 - EC is definitely Monday afternoon. So looks like a 5am breakfast here. What time/when is yours?

beachbum85 · 20/03/2021 11:41

@RedFaerieBoots we have to be there at 8:15 on Tues morning, so I won't be eating anything from dinner on Mon! I don't really mind because I'm not big on breakfast but I'm also not great in the morning and this is going to be a very early wake-up so I'm going to still be half asleep when they sedate me :D

RedFaerieBoots · 20/03/2021 12:02

@Beachbum85 - was hoping the same so I could skip breakfast and have a slightly more indulgent lunch. But no way I could wait all day! We have to be there for 12.15/12.30 so likely not be taken until 1ish. I'd be super hangry by then and grouchy Grin

Have to take trigger at 00.30 tomorrow morning. Had hoped that would be a mistake. Sadly not.

Bethpalmer20 · 20/03/2021 14:39

@futuremum234 my clinic haven't got an issue with me taking the vaccine prior or during treatment however I was asked to sign a disclaimer to say that if I got pregnant and something happened to the baby as a result of the vaccine then the clinic would not be liable.. For that reason I've decided to delay getting the vaccine. I do think it's down to personal choice though and what feels right for you!

Ganiyatou · 20/03/2021 16:26

Thanks to everyone for the good wishes. EC went well but I was very unwell when I wake up. @Tarsette Would have love to know about the tips on the coconut water. But I feel much better now. I got 11 follicles and got a call this morning that 7 fertilise and ET is for Wednesday if everything went as plan. Hope to end up with good embryos. The waiting will be very long.
@beachbum85 I am glad your last scan went well and your left side is responding as well. Good luck for the EC on Tuesday also for anyone who as EC as well.

RedFaerieBoots · 20/03/2021 16:46

@Ganiyatou - how unwell? Never had sedation before so a wee bit apprehensive. Hope not too bad and you are feeling better soon.

Ganiyatou · 20/03/2021 17:20

@RedFaerieBoots The sedative took a while to wear off and I felt very tired, nauseous and unstable, as well as pain in my ovaries. One of the women who had passed before me was almost jumping on the way out. I couldn't walk alone ☺️ Everyone is different.

RedFaerieBoots · 20/03/2021 17:48

@Ganiyatou - all part of the process keeping us on our toes! Will make OH park as close as possible to doors just in case Grin

Hope you are feeling better now though.

Donimo · 20/03/2021 18:03

@Ganiyatou congratulations on your 7 embroyos. Hope you are feeling better now.

@Bigbb good luck for your test tomorrow. Hope its positive for you. Hope you have support around you either way x

Good luck for those taking triggers over the weekend for ECs at the start of next week

Bigbb · 20/03/2021 18:11

@Donimo thank you my lovely my husband is very supportive fingers crossed for tomorrow either way I have to stay strong Smile

Bigbb · 20/03/2021 18:14

@Narwhal88
Thank you i am so nervous either way I have to think positive 😊

RedFaerieBoots · 20/03/2021 18:33

@donimo - thank you Smile

TTCbabyH · 20/03/2021 21:58

@Ganiyatou I'm also going for a transfer Wednesday if ours keep growing until then 🤞🏻 hopefully it's a lucky day for us both

Ganiyatou · 20/03/2021 23:16

@TTCbabyH yes let see. How many embryos did you have. Can wait till then ☺️ Ohh my god !!! I can believe it’s happening.

TTCbabyH · 21/03/2021 08:07

@Ganiyatou we had 8 fertilised yesterday, getting another update today and if the embryologist is happy she'll leave them untouched until Wednesday 🤞🏻🤞🏻 I was expecting more regular updates.. Monday and Tuesday will be so hard!! What about you

AnitaB83 · 21/03/2021 08:54

Hi there, can I join? ?

I just started my menopur treatment (cycle day 4 today).

I am 38 and DH is 40. He has low sperm count but AMH is not bad, around 21. We were due to start IVF in January and I got pregnant by surprise over Christmas. It was a sweet New Year present that ended up in miscarriage at 8.5 weeks. So starting IVF now.

I read you were speaking about the Covid vaccine. When I got pregnant in December it was exactly between my first and second Covid jab. The day before my second jab I did a HPT just in case (we were not trying that month but just to confirm) and it was BFN, however, two days later it turn positive. Probably that jab had nothing to do with my miscarriage (I am 38 years old so it is more likely egg quality).

beachbum85 · 21/03/2021 09:52

Thank you @Donimo and @Ganiyatou for the well wishes :) I trigger tonight and I'm still very excited and nervous!

@RedFaerieBoots all good with the trigger? That's a brutal time to have had to take it! I agree, better an early breakfast than hangry at EC hehe I'm sure we won't even notice the early wake-up with the excitement. Good luck for tomorrow!!
@Hazza2021 good luck to you too!

@TTCbabyH and @Ganiyatou I'm so glad that you have a good number fertilised!! That must be such a relief :) Congrats and keep us posted over the next few days!

@Ganiyatou I'm sorry you were unwell - sounds really tough - but glad you're better and hope you recover fully soon x

@Bigbb I hope it's good news for you today!

Hi @AnitaB83 welcome! I'm very sorry for your loss x
