Is anyone starting ivf in March/April?
Have had confirmation today I will be starting treatment in March. Been prescribed norethisterone, which I have to take CD21 of my next period (due next week).

@Hazza2021 I missed your message, sorry. That's great that you have 9 - the change in medication really made a difference then :) very happy for you! And it looks like we could be EC buddies as well!

RedFaerieBoots · 17/03/2021 20:26

@beachbum85 - You really aren't alone in that. Last couple of days have had me a bit all over the place. Today nurse was like oh maybe Friday for EC but depends on bloods and Consultant. I just about had a panic attack. Actually glad there is a 3rd scan just to try get head in right place. Not helping that its literally a day before or on anniversary of a loss so trying desperately to find some positiveness about it all being a very large circle...

But yes it would be good knowing someone else is going through it pretty much at same time.

Narwhal88 · 17/03/2021 20:33

Hi all, finding it hard to keep up where everyone is!
Period arrived yesterday morning and had baseline scan today which went well. Lining was 3.1mm. Started stims tonight, I'm on 150 units of menopur. Did the injection myself much to my husband's relief 🤣

Donimo · 17/03/2021 21:01

@6543336787gesgvjhg as you say if your scan wasn't as they would of liked I am sure they would of discussed with you. Have you manged to speak to anyone yet to reassure you?

@Idk12345 good luck in the next couple of weeks. I have no experience this as I'm on my first cycle. But I have read others that have had success. Hoping it works out for you. How are you feeling?

@beachbum85 I'm sorry your scan wasn't as you hoped. I hope your left ovary catches up for your next scan. Did the nurse suggest any changes or anything? But the right ovary sounds like its doing well which is great

@Lou8319 I am sorry you didn't get many eggs as you were expecting and that you are feeling rubbish. Like everyone has said quality is better than quantity. Hope you get a good night's sleep and feel better with some good news in the morning.

@RedFaerieBoots and @Hazza2021things seem to be going well for you both. Hoping it all continues and good luck for your next scans on Friday

Donimo · 17/03/2021 21:04

@Narwhal88 glad your scan went well. How did you find your first injection? I found the apprehension of it worse that actually doing it! Second 1 down tonight!

Idk12345 · 17/03/2021 21:44

Thank you everyone for your support.

@Donimo going out of my kind symptom spotting. It's so hard not to Google every little thing. I've had some pinkish spotting when I wipe (sorry TMI) which caused me to go into a frenzy Confused

Ganiyatou · 18/03/2021 00:21

@Idk12345 hi, it’s normal i have same spotting as well and doctor said it fine. I am at day 10 of stims and did my trigger injection Wednesday night.

Ganiyatou · 18/03/2021 00:30

@beachbum85, sorry to hear about your left side and hope they will catch up by next scan. I had same thing happened on Monday but by Wednesday few more catch up and I have 10 follicles over 10 with the biggest one 23mm and some less than 10. My left side only got few follicles as well. I did my trigger injection on Wednesday and EC will be on Friday. I am a bit worried and hope everything goes well and end up with some good embryos.

Lclarke111 · 18/03/2021 03:53

@Narwhal88 how was the first injection? I will also be on 150 when I begin my stims.

@Ganiyatou good luck for Friday!!

@beachbum85 hoping you get some good news re left side as it may still catch up.

@Lou8319 how are feeling now? Hope you get some rest these next days too xx

Can't wait to just get started on stims now, this norethisterone 9 days seems like forever right now, 2 to go !! X

Narwhal88 · 18/03/2021 07:40

@Donimo @Lclarke111 I found the injection fine. I did it quite quickly with no hesitation so I didn't freak myself out. Had a little bubble that took a while to get out of the syringe but that was all! Did it so quickly I forgot to alcohol swab the injection site oops 🤣 I also iced for a minute before and after.

Lclarke111 · 18/03/2021 07:50

@Narwhal88 I have heard the icing can make them actually more painful and also been reccomended tattoo cream for the bum shots as more painful c

Narwhal88 · 18/03/2021 08:23

@Lclarke111 oh really, I didn't ice for long but it didn't hurt. I'll probably try both ways to see. Are the bum shots the progesterone in oil ones? They hurt more as the liquid is thick and it's intramuscular. I haven't been given those, I think they only give them if you have low progesterone, which I think I have but not proven. I just have to take the progesterone pessaries.

beachbum85 · 18/03/2021 09:58

Thank you @Lclarke111, keeping my fingers crossed! Exciting that you'll be starting soon :)

Thanks @Donimo! No changes suggested, just a waiting game and some caution that we can't expect all the follicles to grow. But yes, the right ovary is doing well and I'm just hoping for a little bit of movement on the left by tomorrow. How are you doing?

Thank you @Ganiyatou - I'm glad to hear that you had more follicles catch up and thanks for sharing that as it's definitely encouraging! How did you feel triggering? Good luck for tomorrow and I hope everything will go well x

@Lou8319 I'm thinking of you and hope you had positive news this morning x

@RedFaerieBoots I'm sorry you have the added complexity of dealing with the anniversary of a loss around the same time - that must be very tough and I'm sorry for your loss! I'm glad that the extra scan is helping you though :)

@Narwhal88 very glad that baseline was fine and first injection went well as well! Yeah, things are moving!

I hope everyone else is doing well - it's so nice to have this group to turn to

Lou8319 · 18/03/2021 10:34

So had my update from the clinic. Out of the 5 eggs, 2 fertilised normally, 2 fertilised abnormally (3 genetic parcels in one and 1 genetic parcel in the other) And 1 egg was degenerate.

I’m relieved that it’s not a 0. But worried that 2 can become 1 or 0 in the next few days.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

beachbum85 · 18/03/2021 11:36

Here's hoping that those 2 are fighters @Lou8319! My understanding is that you're past the point where drop-off is the highest, right? So hopefully both of them will develop nicely - fingers crossed for you!
Will you get an update on Day 3 next?

Ganiyatou · 18/03/2021 11:51

@Lclarke111 thank you @beachbum85 triggering went well. I just wake up this morning with running nose and feel a bite tiring. I don’t know if is the injection or due to my busy day yesterday.

Lclarke111 · 18/03/2021 11:55

Doesn anyone know if I would harm my cycle in any way if I stopped norethisterone one day earlY?

elsaesmeralda · 18/03/2021 12:42

Hi ladies ! I'm going to leave this thread as I'm way ahead of most and everyone else is on stims etc so want to wish you all good luck on your journeys and will keep my fingers crossed for bfp's! 💕💕

Apples3 · 18/03/2021 13:00

(First ever comment on mumsnet - hope this is right/ok)

Completed 10 days Norestherone and now half way through the injections.
Had my first scan yesterday and only 4 follicles!! trying not to feel too down about that and next scan is tomorrow but pretty sure that massively limits my chances/eggs.

For any newbies, for me personally, no bad effects from any of the meds. Hubby doing the injections so quite lucky on that part.

This forum is just so awesome, found this so useful.

Bethpalmer20 · 18/03/2021 13:06

@lou8319 Keeping my fingers crossed for you that those two are fighters! As beachbum said, you're past the highest drop-off mark so it looks promising for you!

@lclarke111 I completely understand wanting to stop a day early, I felt exactly the same, and it gave me terrible period cramps just before I stopped! I'm off now and period hopefully due Saturday. I don't think it'll harm your cycle but if you have been pre booked in for scans etc it may affect this as it could affect when your clinic are expecting your period to be.. I was worried that I'd stop taking them and my period would take ages to come but I just stopped when the nurse told me to and I already have AF symptoms so it's looking to be on schedule...

Lou8319 · 18/03/2021 13:34

@Bethpalmer20 and @beachbum85 thanks for the positivity, much needed. I’ll get my next update Saturday morning. Then they’ll let me know how many have clung on and if it’s ok, provisionally book in for ET on Monday.

For anyone due to start Lubion - I’d read it was horrendous, but I Had my first one this morning and I can tell you it was fine.

beachbum85 · 18/03/2021 13:52

@elsaesmeralda best of luck to you too! Pop in to let us know how you get on :)

@Ganiyatou glad the trigger went well and I hope you get back your normal self soon! Good luck for tomorrow!!

@Apples3 hi! I understand the disappointment but fingers crossed that your follicles grow nicely - quality over quantity and there's still time for more! I had my Day 9 scan yd (so well past half way of stims, supposedly) and whereas I had a couple more follicles than I expected, only one ovary seems to be responding so only 5 follicles in the running so far. I've been told that the biggest jump is towards the end, and that's what's keeping me positive!

@Lou8319 good luck for the updates! I'll be thinking of you x

Lou8319 · 18/03/2021 14:26

@Ganiyatou good luck

Lclarke111 · 18/03/2021 15:09

Thank you @Bethpalmer20 it's hard isn't giving up control of it all xx

TTCbabyH · 18/03/2021 15:34

@Apples3 welcome! I had my scan on Monday and due egg collection yesterday, my nurse said that follicles grow roughly 1-2mm a day and it's definitely quality over quantity. They will increase your meds if they feel you're not responding so try and keep positive 🤞🏻
