Is anyone starting ivf in March/April?
Have had confirmation today I will be starting treatment in March. Been prescribed norethisterone, which I have to take CD21 of my next period (due next week).

@Donimo no they didn't ring me back. I just seen when they do the measurements but no idea if it was good or bad.

I'm trying to think positive now they would of stopped my treatment if it wasn't good news. Also I have a plan for next stages of medication and scan on my birthday hopefully will actually find out something haha.

Hope everyone is ok on their journey xx

@Donimo sounds like you had fun with your first injection. Glad it went well.

Lclarke111 · 16/03/2021 22:44

Hey all, currently on norethisterone and due to finish Friday then stims as soon as my next cycle begins. Likely to be an Easter egg collection lol x

Lclarke111 · 16/03/2021 23:00

@Tarsette I am 35, have planned a PGT but this is our first cycle and I am worried we may not have enough eggs to test, my OH has had the chromosome test as he has low speed count but it all came back perfect, so then I worry would be even worth having the testing if it is a first cycle?
Should I speak to the clinic and try to just go for a fresh? X

Ganiyatou · 17/03/2021 00:08

@beachbum85 it was ok. Just that few of follicles are ready and lots still need to catch up. I have another scan tomorrow and they can decide if EC will be Friday or Monday.

Hope your scan goes well tomorrow.

Hi all
I'm new to the thread as well as Mumsnet. I've just had my first ET yesterday (male factor, ICSI). I was told my embryo quality was weak but they opted to transfer anyway (day 5). Anyone had any success who maybe ahead of me?

Bethpalmer20 · 17/03/2021 06:12

@lclarke111 How exciting! Yesterday was my last day of norethisterone and aiming for egg collection on the 2nd April so our dates will be very close!

@idk12345 Sorry I can't offer any advice as I am behind you but will be keeping everything crossed for you!

Lclarke111 · 17/03/2021 06:54

@Bethpalmer20 am so close to finishing on Friday but part of me wants to finish thursday lol!! I can't believe everyone has been booked in for provisional dates before their cycle starts- we have no idea when it will be because of the cycle but we are hoping Easter Sunday as it's my hubby's 40th Easter Monday x

Bethpalmer20 · 17/03/2021 07:44

@lclarke111 haha! I know the feeling, I was half tempted to stop on Monday but when I went to my injection lesson appointment yesterday the nurse was very set on me finishing yesterday so thought I better do as I'm told Grin keeping everything crossed for you x

Lclarke111 · 17/03/2021 07:57

@Bethpalmer20 and you, I am hoping I don't have a huge wait for my AF to appear but who knows, I have had mild cramping today but no mad side effects x

beachbum85 · 17/03/2021 10:50

Hi everyone! I need to catch up on everyone's updates but, in the meantime:
I had my Day 9 scan today and it was so-so... My right ovary has 7 follicles of which 5 are above 10mm, and so growing well, but my left ovary is 'sleeping' with its 4 follicles still small. So similar situation as you @Lou8319 but I have much fewer (as expected). I'm pretty disappointed with my lazy left side, I must say, but the nurse said there's still time for a couple more follicles to catch up, so I'll try stay hopeful (and also I'll be pretty distracted with work). The plan is to continue with the stims and scan again on Friday to see what's going on.

I look forward to reading how everyone else has been doing a little later and I hope you're all well xx

beachbum85 · 17/03/2021 10:53

And thank you very much for the well wishes before my scan @Donimo and @Ganiyatou :) xx

elsaesmeralda · 17/03/2021 11:05

I'm sure the other follicles will catch up @beachbum85 as you said keep busy and try not to dwell on it ! When are you due to trigger ?

Lclarke111 · 17/03/2021 11:34

@beachbum85 definitely time for the others to catch up, fingers crossed for healthy and strong eggs x

Lou8319 · 17/03/2021 12:49

Just got back from my egg collection.

When I woke up my consultant said they got 5 eggs. I don’t know whether It was the drugs or just the shock that the number was so low, but I had a little cry.

I know it only takes one, but it’s a numbers game. I’m not sure whether the 5 are all mature, or whether I’ll lose some immature ones still. And then at 60-70% fertilisation rate, we’re then down to say 3. And they’ve got to hang on.

DH did his bit and they’ve said we’re all good for IVF and not ICSI.

Now to wait for the embryologist call tomorrow. I’m dreading answering it to be honest.

PurpleUnicorn01 · 17/03/2021 14:01

@Lou8319, don't worry, 5 is still good some people only get 1 or 2. Stay positive. Like you said it only takes one.

Thinking of you. And crying is completely okay, it's an emotional part of your journey, potentially life changing either way.

elsaesmeralda · 17/03/2021 14:08

@Lou8319 I know it must have seemed disappointing to you but five is good! You still have a good chance, you never know all of them could be mature ! Try not to worry and just focus on resting now! Keeping my fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻

beachbum85 · 17/03/2021 14:16

@Lou8319 I'm so sorry you didn't get the numbers you were hoping for! It does only take one but I can totally understand the disappointment after all the effort you put into it, especially just coming out of EC. I really hope as many as possible hang on - best of luck for tomorrow and I'll have my fingers crossed for good news for you over the next 5 days or so. Keep us posted xx

@Lclarke111 and @elsaesmeralda thank you!
I don't know when I'll trigger, but not before Sunday. On Friday they'll decide whether I need another scan on Mon or I can go straight to EC...

beachbum85 · 17/03/2021 14:31

@Hazza2021 how was your scan today? I hope the increase in meds is helping, and it is really encouraging to hear that last time you got 12 from the same situation. Thanks for sharing and I hope it goes that way again :) Do you have a date for EC now?

Good luck for tomorrow's scan @Ganiyatou and I hope that you'll find that more follicles have caught up.

@6543336787gesgvjhg I'm sorry you had a bad experience with your clinic yesterday. Did you hear back from them and get some more info? And did you manage to change Friday's appointment?

@Bethpalmer20 glad your pre-stims scan went well! Your clinic seems great with a trial ET. Good luck with your injections but I'm sure it'll be fine
@Donimo I was also worrying we had done it wrong because it was so much easier than expected. At least one thing that was easy hehe imagining your husband with the pans made me smile :)

@CurbsideProphet as @elsaesmeralda suggested, I had a baseline and I'm on the long protocol, so I guess they wanted to see that the down regulation meds worked before starting the stims? But, yes, it is really strange that everyone does things so differently.

@Idk12345 I'm also behind you on my first cycle, so no advice but I hope the best for you xx

Tarsette · 17/03/2021 15:23

@Lou8319 I’m so sorry you’re not feeling hopeful. I know how it is when this awful process throws you a curveball. But numbers are not everything. I had 25 and ended with 4 blasts as my eggs were not good quality (due to polycystic ovaries). I have read MANY stories of women who had far fewer eggs than me and ended up with the same or better results as most of their eggs fertilised and then survived until day 5. The fertilisation rate can vary wildly! I have every crossed for your update tomorrow.

@Lclarke111 as you are still young, I would wait until you know how many blasts you are likely to have (on day 3, say) and then make a decision about PGS. If you have 10 embryos, go for it! If you have 2 or 3, go for a fresh transfer.

Lou8319 · 17/03/2021 16:50

@tarsette @beachbum85 @elsaesmeralda and @PurpleUnicorn01 thanks for the kind words.

I’m feeling Absolutely rotten physically now. Very unhappy stomach and also nausea to go with the tiredness. No internal pain at the mo which is a slight blessing.

Lclarke111 · 17/03/2021 17:37

@Tarsette Thank you so much, this has been my thinking too, this is our first go and they suggested it but since my OH has no abnormalities in his bloods I am thinking we will take it as it comes x

RedFaerieBoots · 17/03/2021 18:56

@Lou8319- so sorry to hear this. Hoping future news is positive.

I has my second scan today. Got a few that are pretty ready but some smaller ones. So consultant wants me to have a 3rd scan on Friday. Looks like egg collection Monday or Tuesday. Feeling so terrified as this is the stage we have no control over Sad

So @beachbum85 -looking like we might be egg collection buddies!

Hazza2021 · 17/03/2021 20:18

@beachbum85 Hi I had my scan today I have 9 over 10mm, my biggest is 15mm so they want me to have another scan Friday. They think egg collection could be on Monday!

beachbum85 · 17/03/2021 20:19

@RedFaerieBoots EC buddies would be fabulous - I'm pretty terrified too and I'm trying really hard not spiral into catastrophising just because things are not as I hoped right away. But it's hard! I was preparing myself to be all irrational from EC onwards, but it seems to be hitting me earlier.

@Lou8319 I'm sorry you're feeling unwell! Take those painkillers if your stomach can take it, and take it easy... it's been a long few weeks x
