Is anyone starting ivf in March/April?
Have had confirmation today I will be starting treatment in March. Been prescribed norethisterone, which I have to take CD21 of my next period (due next week).

@ForeverHopeful17 no AF has not arrived but I can feel that it will either tonight or tomorrow! Had to change my scan from tomorrow to Wednesday. Grrr!
Glad yours has shown up now, have you had your baseline scan yet?

Peachthepiglet · 15/03/2021 20:20

Hi everyone I had my first check in scan today and they said that growth was slow but they kinda expected that I may need more time given I dnt produce any hormones naturally. I think I had 14 follicles with a few around 7mm but all the rest were 6mm or less. My lining is also super thin. They did some bloods and said my hormones are low so have increased my menopur dose to 300. Fingers crossed this will encourage some more life. I’ll go back again Thursday. Trying to not be too disheartened.

@6543336787gesgvjhg @RedFaerieBoots I’ve also been feeling quite nauseous on the menopur but no real headaches (yet). Been trying to drink a lot of water not sure if that helps. Hoping the increase in dose not going to make it worse.

RedFaerieBoots · 15/03/2021 20:21

@6543336787gesgvjhg - totally understand. It is a concern for me. I hope they will be supportive when I return if it doesn't. Especially just to understand why my head might be a bit out of things.

@beachbum85 - bloods appear to be good news. Nurse called back and said all looks good with results and next scan is Wednesday.

Lou8319 · 15/03/2021 23:40

Had my final stims Scan today. One side has responded well, 9 good sized follicles. The other side hasn’t responded much at all. My consultant asked what I’d done to it!

Trigger injection is done and EC is Wednesday. I’m most looking forward to having an injection free day Tuesday.

Tarsette · 16/03/2021 03:34

@Peachthepiglet I had that as well (slow growth) and ended up stimming for 13 days. My Dr said it might actually be good as it gives more time for the smaller follicles to catch up.

@Lou8319 yeah I remember thinking that as well! Felt like a pin cushion by the end of it!

Hope everyone else is doing ok on the meds and gets good scans!

I had a scare yesterday as I started to bleed heavily 5 days after EC. I was frenetically googling about post EC hemorrhages when my Dr called to say it was my period! Because I took a special trigger shot to prevent OHSS (decapeptyl), my hormone levels crashed and I got my period. Wish my clinic had warned me! Well at least it will get me to the transfer cycle (if there is anything to transfer...) a bit quicker. I now need to wait 2 weeks for the results of the PGT and then I can have a transfer the following cycle. Is anyone else on here doing PGT?

Bethpalmer20 · 16/03/2021 04:26

Hi everyone!

I don't know if anybody can help...

Today will be my last day or taking norethisterone to delay my period. My clinic are hoping that my period will come on Saturday however this morning I've woken up with really bad period cramps (still taking norethisterone until tonight). Today would have been around the time that my natural period would have been so I'm not sure if the cramps are that or if the norethisterone hasn't worked successfully in delaying my period which is going to mess up all my pre booked dates for ivf..

A few days ago I was stressing that I would stop taking norethisterone and my period wouldn't come, now I'm stressing it's going to come to early... This journey is never easy is it Confused

6543336787gesgvjhg · 16/03/2021 07:25

@Bethpalmer20 stop stressing it will come just as planned. They will cater and amend accordingly if not so don't worry. It will all work out perfectly xxx

TTCbabyH · 16/03/2021 07:55

@Bethpalmer20 hello! It took me 4-5 days to start my bleed after stopping my tablets. I had period pains the whole time taking them but never bled so I think it's normal. As said, if you don't bleed on time theyl just amend your plan slightly. Every women is different so theyl be use to it

Bethpalmer20 · 16/03/2021 08:06

@6543336787gesgvjhg Thank you! There's so much to think about it just feels overwhelming! Xx

@TTCbabyH That's so reassuring to know you also had period pain. I was in agony this morning and felt like I was about to come on but feeling much better now! Trying not to stress but it's so hard haha! Xx

Peachthepiglet · 16/03/2021 09:02

@Tarsette thanks so much for your reassurance! Fingers crossed there is some progress Thursday.

It’s a shame your clinic didn’t warn you that does sound scary. I’m not doing pgt testing but hope the results are ok and they come as soon as they can.

beachbum85 · 16/03/2021 12:20

@ForeverHopeful17 I'm very glad :) and I hope your first injection goes well today!
@Narwhal88 any news from your end?

@Donimo let us know how your first stim injection goes

@Hazza2021 and @Ganiyatou how were your scans yd?

@Bethpalmer20 glad you're feeling better and hope everything keeps going according to plan. So many things to stress about at every stage!! I keep trying to stop myself thinking ahead of all the things that could go wrong and keep telling myself: 1 step at a time....

@RedFaerieBoots really glad to hear you got good results! Good luck for tomorrow and let us know how it goes. I also have a scan tomorrow and can't wait for some news!

@Peachthepiglet I'm sorry to hear that your first scan didn't go as you'd have liked, and I really hope the increased dose will have the needed effect. Luckily Thursday is not too long to wait - keeping my fingers crossed for you. I'm on 300 as well and I haven't had any major side effects, so I hope it'll be the same for you.

@Tarsette that must have been so scary! Phew to it being your period!! Good luck for your PGT results - I'm not having testing but I can imagine a nerve racking couple of weeks...

@Lou8319 enjoy your injection-free day and good luck for egg collection tomorrow! 9 follicles sounds good, good thing that ovary was busy :) how are you feeling about it all?

Hope everyone is doing well xx

Narwhal88 · 16/03/2021 12:38

@beachbum85 yeah AF started at 5am this morning which is a relief. My scan was changed from today to tomorrow afternoon. So I'm now running a day later than planned.
In a world of pain today with AF though, why is it always worse after norethisterone?!

@Bethpalmer20 I had cramps last Thursday as well on last day of norethisterone but AF didn't arrive till this morning.

beachbum85 · 16/03/2021 12:48

@Narwhal88 ugh sorry about the period pain.. that sucks although I can imagine the relief! 1 day delay is nothing in the grand scheme of things - glad you're back on track :)

Hazza2021 · 16/03/2021 14:44

@beachbum85 Hi so I had my scan yesterday and still not a great deal happening. I have 4 above 10 and lots of small ones. They have upped me again to 300 and I have another scan tomorrow. I’m supposed to have egg collection on Friday but I think it may be more like Monday. This is exactly how my last one went and I ended up with 12 so fingers crossed I can still get some. How’s everything going with you?

CurbsideProphet · 16/03/2021 15:00

I'm really interested to read the posts about Norethisterone and how different clinics operate. The plan is that I finish Norethisterone on Sunday 21st and start injections on 27th March. I'm not having a scan until 5th April, with egg collection planned for 7th April.
I've noticed that a few posters have mentioned baseline scans. Is this the normal process? I'm wondering why I've not been asked to go for a scan before I start injections?

elsaesmeralda · 16/03/2021 15:34

@CurbsideProphet I didn't have a scan before I started stims but I was on short protocol so not sure if that's why?

6543336787gesgvjhg · 16/03/2021 16:20

@CurbsideProphet I didn't have a scan before I started either.

Short protocol First injection 12th March, first scan and bloods today 16th March. Second scan booked 19th March. Start taking cetrotide (AM) as well as menopur (PM) from the 18th March.

I feel a bit deflated after my first scan today - anyone else feel like this? The lady didn't tell me anything at all - I guessed there was 7 on one side and 10ish on the other just from the screen. I asked the lady at the end and she said she's not a nurse and don't want to get my hopes up wait for the clinic to ring. Well they didn't ring just sent a portal message to say next appointment 9am Friday which again is over an hour away. Rang up to try and change it to the usual clinic 30 mins away and the last was really rude and said someone will call me back and haven't... yet.... just feel like keeping it the same. When I got there earlier one last was after me and they didn't have her on the system... that's my fear now I've tried to change it and they haven't confirmed. Haha. Sorry must be the hormones. But yeah, deflated.... 😫

6543336787gesgvjhg · 16/03/2021 16:26

Sorry mean lady both times NOT last *
Sorry for babbling on haha

elsaesmeralda · 16/03/2021 16:27

@6543336787gesgvjhg I always felt the same after scans! Never got told anything, always had to ask! And then I'd see ladies on here saying they had x amount of follicles measuring this and that.. I was like why am I not being told this stuff 😆

6543336787gesgvjhg · 16/03/2021 16:37

@elsaesmeralda thank you for replying 😁 I'm glad it's not just me. I think that's why I'm trying to change it for Fridays as I like the other place and people more 😫 just know on Friday I won't know any more details as they aren't nurses at this other clinic.

Like I feel the scans should be an exciting experience to learn the next stages instead I came out after a 2.5 hour around trip (getting up at half 5!) with nothing and was late back for work so I had to text my manager haha.

Anyway, back to feeling happy/ positive 😁😁

Bethpalmer20 · 16/03/2021 16:45

@beachbum85 totally agree, I'm just trying to take each day as it comes and stay relatively positive and stress free!

@6543336787gesgvjhg so sorry your clinic haven't been very helpful, that's the least you need at a time that is already stressful!

Just had my pre stims scan to check for any cysts and that lining is all ok. I also had a 'practice' egg transfer to make sure they could get to my cervix etc which I've not seen anybody mention on here before but was really impressed with how informative they are! Nurse showed me how to do injections so fingers crossed I can start Sunday!

6543336787gesgvjhg · 16/03/2021 17:08

@Bethpalmer20 good luck for starting your stims. I weren't shown what to do just watch a video. However, watching the video is fine but was nerve racking for the first one. Day 5 of stims tonight so we are getting used to it now. Nearer 7pm though my heart does start racing.

Lou8319 · 16/03/2021 17:57

@beachbum85 I’m feeling ok. I was disappointed knowing my AMH and antrial follicle count is top end, and having them count 19 follicles at first scan, but I guess numbers were always going to get reduced at each stage. And I’m sort of preparing myself to not expect mature eggs from all of the Follicles that are big.

Like everyone else I’m trying to take one step of the process at a time, but my god that’s hard!

CurbsideProphet · 16/03/2021 18:27

@elsaesmeralda technically I'm on short protocol, just have to delay my period for a week because of clinic closure over Easter.
IVF is so strange. Each CCG decides what they'll fund, each clinic does things differently.

Donimo · 16/03/2021 20:26

@Tarsette I would of panicked just like you! Would think they would tell you this. I hope you get a least a couple of good embryos from this.

@Narwhal88 glad it came even though it delayed by a day. I think there are lots of unexpected in this procress and you have to go with it and hope for the best.

@Hazza2021 sorry your scan didn't go well. Hopefully the increased meds will kick in and make a difference for you. How are you feeling?

@6543336787gesgvjhg that doesn't sound great treatment. You are left questioning everything when not given the information. I have no idea how you read those scans yourself!! Have you manged to get hold of the clinic now?

@Bethpalmer20 sounds like you had a good clinic appointment today. Good luck for Sunday.

@Lou8319 good luck for your EG collection tomorrow

@beachbum85 good luck for your scan tomorrow. Let us know how you get on. My first stim injection went fine. Although keep questioning if I did it right as felt too easy!! Apart from shouting at my husband to stop banging the pans whilst cooking as I couldn't hear the video to follow what to do!
