Is anyone starting ivf in March/April?
Have had confirmation today I will be starting treatment in March. Been prescribed norethisterone, which I have to take CD21 of my next period (due next week).

@Donimo Thank you! Hope your treatment is going ok too. Thank you for the injection tips! x

elsaesmeralda · 02/03/2021 19:15

@AnonymousXXIX I think and may be wrong! That short protocol is usually recommended for people with pcos like myself as there is more of a risk of over stimulation!

Hazza2021 · 02/03/2021 21:29

@Donimo I start my stims on Sunday. Eek so excited but also worried my number of eggs won’t be great. I had a very large cyst on my left ovary so I had to have it removed along with the ovary so I only have my right one so I’m quite nervous as to how it will go. I hope everything is going ok with you x

Anyone getting there medication through Stork? Mines been delivered tomorrow but haven't heard from them with any timings? Anyone else the same? I will ring them in the morning if I don't get a message later tonight.

beachbum85 · 02/03/2021 22:11

Sorry @6543336787gesgvjhg but I had to pick up my medication myself, no delivery.

@ZoZoeee123 I'm on Day 9 of the long protocol. I can't wait for the scan too, but in my case I guess it'll just be everything 'turned off' so not much to see...

@AnonymousXXIX my clinic said what @elsaesmeralda said: short protocol for those at risk of OHSS.

@Donimo my period just arrived a little while ago, so I'm feeling a bit run down now but relieved it's here. I hope yours shows very soon!
And yours too @Orsh - I'm sorry I had misunderstood but I hope they confirm that you can start the stims some days after it comes... Waiting is very hard, and this whole process really feels like a test in patience!

@Hazza2021 I'm really excited about the next phase too! Sunday is soon here for you :) My mind also keeps going back to all the things that could go wrong, but trying to stay positive. Fingers crossed that your right ovary will do a good job and make up for the other one. There are some really positive stories from the previous months' threads, and reading though them gives me hope in general!

AnonymousXXIX · 03/03/2021 08:41

Thanks @elsaesmeralda @beachbum85! I wonder why it is not recommended when you don't have pcos...

elsaesmeralda · 03/03/2021 09:48

Morning ladies. I am officially in the down regulation club as of this morning, haven't injected since November so was abit 😩 but was all good !
Hope everyone's okay

6543336787gesgvjhg · 03/03/2021 13:43

@elsaesmeralda hey, what do you have to do for down regulation? Is it tablets or injections? I've had my meds delivered this morning and put some in the fridge and was stressing the fridge weren't the right setting. I will calm down eventually I'm sure. It all feels very real down.
How you finding it?

Hazza2021 · 03/03/2021 14:15

@elsaesmeralda Yay!! You will be a pro by the time you come to the end. I am now day 10 of down reg and it doesn’t even bother me now. This is my 2nd time though but it was 2 years ago when I did it before.

ZoZoeee123 · 03/03/2021 14:17

Hi,

I had a scan today which was as expected so I can start on Fyremadel today. Didn't realise there would be so many injections! Turns out we will be doing ICSI now. Has anyone got experience of this? Hope you are all getting on ok with treatment xx

elsaesmeralda · 03/03/2021 15:50

@6543336787gesgvjhg I'm doing injections. Not sure if there is another way of doing it other than that?
It's fine, this is my second attempt at a fet (first one cancelled due to lining not responding) so wasn't expecting to have to down regulate but anything that helps !!

@Hazza2021 really hope I don't get the menopause symptoms! Have you had a period on it yet?

@ZoZoeee123 we had to use Icsi, 11 out of 15 mature eggs fertilised and 9 made it to day 5 and in the freezer. So our experience as good ! They only use if there is male factor issues I believe

Hazza2021 · 03/03/2021 16:21

@elsaesmeralda yes I started my period almost a week ago but I was on the pill for 3 weeks which you do get a period once you stop taking it. So I start gonal f on Sunday and my 1st scan will be 13th March. Are you waiting for your period?

RazzleDazz1e · 03/03/2021 16:25

I am having my AMH blood test next week as NHS funding approved (only 1 round funded by our CCG).

No obvious issues from all tests so far- my tests are all clear so far, and husband’s sperm analysis was normal. 2 years TTC

Only issue is I need to lose 1kg so that my BMI is under 30 to fulfil the criteria. Question is will I get weighed before I have the blood test? We have a Microsoft Trams consultation on 16th and then I guess follow up meeting afterwards so plenty of time to lose some timber as long as so I don’t have to weigh next week!

PurpleUnicorn01 · 03/03/2021 16:56

@RazzleDazz1e

Welcome! I have no idea in terms of your question but im sure someone on here will.

Congrats on getting your funding approved, it must also be a relief your tests are all clear. What NHS trust are you with? I have my very first appointment next week with gynaecology. Did they say when you can start treatment? Also how long did the process take from your first referral?

Thanks Smile

RazzleDazz1e · 03/03/2021 17:02

Thank you! It has actually all been very quick. NHS trust is Oxfordshire.

Re timeline: I had all my blood tests end of November beginning of Dec last year (plus husband’s semen analysis). GP made referral shortly afterwards, and we had our telephone consultation with a gynaecologist on 12 Feb (very short around 20 mins). We were contacted by the fertility clinic today- so just over 2.5 weeks later!

I’m 35 in June and we have been TTC since Jan 2019- perhaps it has all happened very quickly due to age and length of time TTC?!

RazzleDazz1e · 03/03/2021 17:02

PS- treatment should start next month!

ZoZoeee123 · 03/03/2021 17:08

@elsaesmeralda That's really good news that you had a good response with ICSI. Yeah I think male factor is why they have recommended.

@RazzleDazz1e Welcome! That's good news that you will be getting things underway soon. I didn't get weighed until we had our IVF information appointment. It's probably different everywhere though! Hope your blood test goes ok x

@PurpleUnicorn01Hope your appointment goes ok next week. For us it took quite a while to get to treatment but things were delayed due to COVID. Hopefully it should be quicker now x

Narwhal88 · 03/03/2021 17:28

@AnonymousXXIX so if you have a high AMH you likely have lots of eggs and lots of follicles, so you need a lower dose of medication to stimulate them or you will overstimulate which causes OHSS. If you have an average or lower AMH then it is better to down regulate and then stimulate as this will boost the number of follicles and eggs you get. That is the theory anyway but one theory doesn't fit all. Do you know your AMH as this will indicate what protocol you may follow?
For info I don't have PCOS (as far as they know) but I have a higher than average AMH so I'm doing short protocol.

PurpleUnicorn01 · 03/03/2021 19:24

@RazzleDazz1e thank you for that. It made me feel so much better. Did you have a scan before referrals? Ive had a day 21 and hes had a SA. Hope it goes well for you

@ZoZoeee123 thank you so much.

Will keep you all updated Smile

6543336787gesgvjhg · 03/03/2021 19:27

@RazzleDazz1e hello, we are with the fertility partnership and neither of us have been weighed. Although our BMI is under 30 anyway. We had to put our height and weight on our consent forms to confirm this to them as well as all our family medical history.

When we went in for our funding meeting the nurse just looked at us and said no issues with BMI - I thought they would of weighed us both! But didn't! My husband is only just under 30! So it did surprise me.

Orsh · 03/03/2021 20:50

Those numbers without down reg sound great. Congratulations @elsaesmeralda! Thank you for sharing. Very exciting that you are preparing for FET now. I am sorry your first injection was a bit of a pain, but I am sure by day 4 you will master it :)

Good luck with the stims @Hazza2021! Very exciting :)

Thanks @beachbum85 I hope so too. I can't wait to know what the next stage will be. Even though I have had cramps coming and going for the past 4 days, still no show of AF.
It's great news that your period arrived, I hope you will feel better soon.
I hope we will have ours showing soon too @Donimo.

beachbum85 · 03/03/2021 23:50

Welcome to the down regulation club @elsaesmeralda - I guess first injection is always a bit bleh but glad that all is good and as the others said, I'm sure it'll soon feel normal!
@6543336787gesgvjhg I think down regulation can either be injections or a nasal spray - obviously I was hoping for the spray but not that lucky haha

@ZoZoeee123 great news that you've started the next stage! How did it go today and how are you feeling? We might have ICSI too but they said they'll decide on the day as my partner's first SA was good, but the second was borderline, so they'll check the sample and decide.

@RazzleDazz1e glad to hear about your funding being approved and that things are going quickly! We were only ever weighed when we went to the GP the first time and since then have been using the same numbers, but we both have pretty low BMIs so I don't know if that is why they never bothered again. Cheering you on for that 1kg :)

Thanks @Orsh, I've had cramps over quite a few days too and still do, but I am better, thanks! Thinking of you and @Donimo as you wait... keep us posted x

Narwhal88 · 04/03/2021 07:41

@RazzleDazz1e I'm getting NHS funding and I have never been weighed! All our fertility consultations were over the phone, I never even met my consultant before referral to IVF. She just asked what my BMI was and when I said 25 she just said it was fine. I have had my blood test done by the IVF clinic nurse and still not weighed. Started norethisterone yesterday. They didn't even ask what my husbands BMI was but I don't think that is a criteria in our CCG.

AnonymousXXIX · 04/03/2021 09:38

@RazzleDazz1e @Narwhal88 we are also hoping for NHS funding and have never been weighed; just reported weight and BMI over the phone. I guess they can compare that to their existing records though to make sure it is roughly in line with that? We both have a very healthy weight fortunately. But if not, I see no point in lying about it because if I could improve our fertility by improving our BMI then I would have been on that yesterday! They likewise seemed more interested in my weight each time rather than DH; even though we are doing this due to MFI.
