Is anyone starting ivf in March/April?
Have had confirmation today I will be starting treatment in March. Been prescribed norethisterone, which I have to take CD21 of my next period (due next week).

@Donimo yeah 29days to be exact. Basically feels like a whole month. I’m only a week into it and I can see March being a long hard month for me.

Just a quick question for anyone injecting. . . I have only done 3 days of injections so far and most of the time I get leakage after I remove the needle. I have tried leaving in for 5 seconds after injecting. Should I be pinching the skin the letting go once the needle is in? I'm worried I'm losing lots of the medication! Have tried tummy and thighs. Thanks in advance for any replies xx

If you go onto care fertility's website they have injection teach videos for all different medications. I pinched the skin, stuck needle in, took needle out then let go of the skin. Sometimes there was leakage sometimes there wasn't, but it always looks more than it is! @ZoZoeee123

Thanks for the warm welcome! I was wondering about my protocol: I have been given Gonal F but no Menopur. Has anyone else been given a similar protocol?

@ZoZoeee123 I pinch skin, inject, leave the needle in 10 seconds, remove and release skin. I do the injection next to my belly button. I sometimes get a bit of leakage but it’s usually not more than 1 drop. Don’t worry too much about it, I am sure you are getting the medication you need. What dose are you on?

@elsaesmeralda Thank you for the advice. I'll have a look at the videos. I think I just worry as I haven't had a scan since starting the injections. As you say it probably looks like more than there actually is! Hope you are doing ok. xx

@Tarsette Thank you for the advice. I'm on 75IU of menoupr and bemfola. As it's a small amount I'm worried about any leakage! I have a scan tomorrow so should be able to see if it is working or not. Hope you are getting on ok xx

I Just got my day five update from the lab. Out of the 16 eggs retrieved, 11 eggs were fertilised, they managed to get 6 embryos to freeze. She said it was a good results. One was AA quality which she said was very good and the rest were a mixture of AB etc.. Thrilled, honestly didn't think we'd get that many. They said on the phone last week 2/3 would be a good result.

@ZoZoeee123 welcome! It's my first cycle too, and I was also getting a bit worried about the medication leaking out a bit, but the nurse said not to worry about a few drops difference. Good luck for your scan tomorrow!

@Tarsette hi and nice to have you here too! So glad that you have such a nice number of follicles :) I'm on Gonal F but no Menopur too, but I haven't been told when to start taking it or how much yet... Waiting for the baseline scan next Tues. Let us know how your scan goes on Thurs!

@Itsjustme2021 I'm sorry to hear this month will drag on :( My protocol is similar to @Donimo in that I'll start the stims just over 2 weeks in, but I might continue with the Buserelin. I'm sure your doctors know what they're doing and we'll be here for company and support

@ZoZoeee123 thank you! I'm OK, I started out hungry all the time, then my tummy was a bit weird, and I had a couple of days of fatigue, but generally I feel well and excited :)

Thanks everyone. The builders showed up to start our extension today so a good day all around.

@beachbum85 Glad you are ok. Are you on a short or long protocol? Not that I know much about either! I'm doing ok thanks. I'm on a short protocol and have only injected for 3 days. My tummy felt a bit strange today but other than that it seems fine. Won't know if anything is happening until my scan. I'm not very good with waiting! x

@beachbum85 I feel okay I have had a couple of headaches. I’m trying to get plenty of water down me. How are you feeling? Won’t be long until we start the stim meds. I feel quite excited about it all especially once we add the second injection.

@Orsh thats exciting, so are you starting stims at the end of the week?

Hi @ZoZoeee123 welcome and I hope your scan goes ok tomorrow. Its also my first cycle! I pinch my skin to insert the needle and then let go to inject... but really not sure if thats right... but think thats what the nurse showed me (but could be wrong!)

@Itsjustme2021 I am sure your clinic has a personalised plan that will be based on your test results etc. After all we are all different!

@beachbum85 still no period, but feeling like it will start soon. So think it will come in a day or to. I think I'll call the clinic if no sign on Thursday as that will be almost a week late. How about you? I am feeling a bit better today, how about you?

I could be moving very fast or very slow @beachbum85. Still could be 4-5 months with the long protocol. Nothing is confirmed yet. I am still waiting for AF to show her face. The only time I want her to show, she doesn't.

@Donimo not likely. Even if I am very lucky and will start with the stims straight away 🤞, I need the baseline scan first on CD4 amd then I may start tge stims.
My period is due in any moment, I have been feeling it for the past 3 days.
I hope yours will show soon too.

I struggle the most with the unknown and the constant waiting. Waiting for my period to start. Then for the phonecall, then to know if I will start down regulating or stimulation, etc...

Also, does any of you have experience with stimulation without down reg? If that's the case, will I have less follicles than with down regulation?

Hi @Orsh I did short protocol without down regulation. I got 17 eggs! 9 still in the freezer so we did well with follicle amount, think there was around 22 by the time I did my trigger injection. Was always told to remember that there won't be an egg in every follicle so I didn't get my hopes up, I'd have been grateful for just 1 egg!

Funnily enough I'm down regulating for the first time starting tomorrow but this is for my FET. My natural hormones interfered with the last attempt apparently.

Where are you on your journey atm?

Oh on the down regulating vs not doing that: can anyone explain how this decision is made? We're doing IVF-ICSI for MFI only and my cycles are regular (25 days). Do you reckon they would recommend a short protocol? or if not, why not? I am just wondering how much you can argue with your Drs on this. I am very, very not keen on all the meds and hormones, so the fewer and the shorter the better? (Sorry I know that is a totally unmedically informed feeling to have!)
