Is anyone starting ivf in March/April?
Have had confirmation today I will be starting treatment in March. Been prescribed norethisterone, which I have to take CD21 of my next period (due next week).

@elsaesmeralda @IVFninja
Thank you I thought that would be the case, why do I think of these things after I put the phone down 😂
I've now watched the medication video for menopur two weeks today I might be injecting myself 😩

Itstime1 · 26/02/2021 15:13

Oh I think we’re close in timelines then! They have tried to schedule my period for around 8-10th with the tablets and then after the base scan I’m sure to start Meriofert injections I think!

beachbum85 · 26/02/2021 17:01

Thanks @PurpleUnicorn01 and @Donimo - still doing OK but feeling pretty tired today. Not sure if hunger and tiredness count as side effects @elsaesmeralda but those are the only differences I noticed with Buserelin, so far... but only 5 days in. @Donimo are you still feeling cranky today or was it your tough day yesterday? Hope today is better!

@Hazza2021 that is exciting! I'm glad you have a date for the next phase :)
My scan is on the 9th so I'm hoping I'll be right after you in starting the stims, and then @6543336787gesgvjhg and @Itstime1 (hello!) - I have had my meds in the fridge for quite a while now as well, and I wouldn't worry.

I'm sorry you're having a difficult day @IVFninja and I can totally understand your worries. Every clinic is different but, although it was impossible to get through over the phone, I found that emailing the fertility admin team CC the PALS team usually got a fairly quick response, so you might want to look for those addresses online.

@RosemaryRosemary how was your scan today?
@hopefulhel how are you recovering after EC?

And hello @Orsh :)
I hope everyone is keeping well!

elsaesmeralda · 26/02/2021 17:36

@6543336787gesgvjhg honestly I was so scared of injecting myself and got my partner to do the first few but then thought I need to know I can do this myself, so I did it and was absolutely fine and really shocked how easy it was! First one is the hardest!

@IVFninja don't know if this helps regarding your period but I had my planning app this afternoon and was told that I'll be having my scan to check I've down regulated 18 days after I start injecting, so my point is don't worry too much about timelines as I was also told if by that scan date I still haven't come on my period they will just keep me injecting and rebook the scan for when my period arrives!

@beachbum85 glad to hear you're not having any side effects yet. The nurse told me this afternoon that by about two weeks after starting buserelin I'll start having menopause symptoms, hot flushes and mood swings. Not looking forward to that 😩😆

elsaesmeralda · 26/02/2021 17:37

@IVFninja sorry meant 16 days after!!

beachbum85 · 26/02/2021 17:45

@elsaesmeralda oh no, that doesn't sound too nice... but thanks for the heads up. My nurse told me not to worry if I start crying in the middle of Tesco for no reason, so it sounds like we should expect the mood swings sooner or later! I told my partner to prepare for some extra cuddles, unless I want to see nothing of him :D

hopefulhel · 26/02/2021 17:47

@beachbum85 feeling a bit better today but still a bit tender. Was very sore yesterday so had to take stronger pain killers. The embryologist did say she'd expect me to be sore after having that many eggs collected.

elsaesmeralda · 26/02/2021 17:52

@beachbum85 🤣 yes I have warned my partner if I turn into a massive bitch it's not my fault! I took clomid before and my god I was evil. Also the hot flushes kept waking me up throughout the night it wasn't nice !

@hopefulhel hi! Just to say I had same amount of eggs collected as you and I was pretty sore for about 3-4 days, I was glued to a hot water bottle and had codeine for the pain which helped. I found lying down flat made it worse. Hope you feel better soon 💕

hopefulhel · 26/02/2021 18:40

@elsaesmeralda that's good tea knew I am feeling much better today. Have been resting the for the past few days.

Donimo · 26/02/2021 19:26

@Orsh sounds like you have had quite a wait, but exciting you are starting soon. When are you expecting CD1 to be?

@elsaesmeralda I have been feeling tired and cranky yesterday and today. But don't know if thats due to a busy and stressful week or the bureselin (1 week in now).

@IVFninja I hope your period arrives ASAP for you. Mine was due today and definitely no sign! Also I would think the bureselin could impact your AMH levels as I am sure I have read that the contraceptive pill does.

@6543336787gesgvjhg my meds have been sat in the fridge since end of Jan and won't start the stims till 9th March!

@beachbum85 glad you are still doing well.

Hope everyone is doing well

IVFninja · 26/02/2021 20:27

@Donimo thank you, I truly hope so - it’s pretty alarming if it’s halved in a year!

Donimo · 26/02/2021 22:55

@IVFninja also your AMH level is double mine, mine is only 3.5. But keep telling myself its quality not quality and you only need 1 good egg!

Donimo · 26/02/2021 22:58

Sorry typo.... quality over quantity!! Confused

AnonymousXXIX · 27/02/2021 10:00

Hi ladies!

I think I am being too optimistic posting here, but we were just told we should get funding approval end of March / start of April and have our first treatment appointment then (IVF-ICSI for MFI) Shock Omg I hope so badly April will be the month we really do start!

The consultant said my AMH is 11, which they said is exactly average for my age (30). Does anyone know if that's right / know more about this? I didn't want to start a whole new thread.

elsaesmeralda · 27/02/2021 10:33

@AnonymousXXIX hi and welcome 😊

I've no idea! As I'm the same age but was told my amh is 20.6 and also good! So now I'm confused lol

Hopefully someone else can enlighten us both !

Hazza2021 · 27/02/2021 11:10

My amh is really high in the 30’s and I’m 38 but when I had my first go at ivf it turned out I had PCOS so I didn’t do aswell as they thought I would do. You won’t know until they scan you, that is why the 1st go at ivf is always trial and error!

hopefulhel · 27/02/2021 11:44

I'm 37 with an amh of 29. Have no idea what any of it means.

CurbsideProphet · 27/02/2021 12:30

theduff.co.uk/amh-levels-ivf/

This is quite a good UK website for making sense of IVF and everything that comes into it.

Narwhal88 · 27/02/2021 14:12

I'm 32 and my AMH is 44 which is high, but not high enough to suggest PCOS and as far as I'm aware I don't have it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

AnonymousXXIX · 27/02/2021 14:50

Wow thanks for all the quick replies!

That's really interesting. But also omg having a bit of a panic now about how low mine is in comparison. The consultant said between 'x (couldn't hear' and 20 is great'; but the internet does not seem to agree with that at all!

My last scan (pre-NHS-funding application) showed 7 follicles on one side; other side unknown as it was hiding.

Narwhal88 · 27/02/2021 16:00

@AnonymousXXIX I think 11 is fine, I wouldn't worry, especially if you had 7 follicles on 1 ovary. I had 9 follicles on one side and 11 on the other so not that much difference considering how much higher my AMH is. At your age the eggs should still be good quality as well.

AnonymousXXIX · 27/02/2021 16:11

Thanks @Narwhal88 :)

Orsh · 27/02/2021 16:51

Thank you for the welcome Ladies :)

@Donimo My CD1 is between 1st-5th March as my cycle is usually 28-32 days.
I am getting a bit nervous and exciting as it is getting closer. It has been a very long time...
Any sign of AF for you? I hope she arrives soon and you can relax a bit before your scan on Monday.

@Hazza2021 Apparently I have high egg reserve to my age (35) but also have PCOS which the doctors said does not effect my treatment. However with menopur stimulation for my IUI I only had 3 follicles matured by the insemination date and I had 3 overmatured follicles after that. So not great success.
Have they adjusted your stim accordingly; knowing your results from last time?

Fingers crossed it will be a very successful round for all of us 🤞

CurbsideProphet · 27/02/2021 18:57

If anyone is on Instagram there's a great woman on there called The Infertility Counsellor. She has some videos that really resonate with me (how to switch from battling against your body and the feeling that it is letting you down etc). Just wanted to flag the page up in case anyone else would benefit.

Hazza2021 · 27/02/2021 19:27

@Orsh no they are starting me on 150 gonal f but I’m having my scan earlier than before so they can change my dose. Last time it took 15 days of stims but I did have my first scan later so hopefully they will up it and then go from there. I had 12 eggs but only 7 were mature and 4 fertilised but I still ended with my little boy.
