Have just got back from my scan.

She didn't give me measurements but said 14 follicles are "ready" and there's a further 7 there as well.

I still have to take menopur and buserelin tomorrow morning then HCG tomorrow night in prep for EC on Tuesday.

I'm "on the fence" for OHSS but she said she really didn't think it would happen but to "drink lots of water and move around".

It's DH's PESA on Monday (we're icsi with pesa) so she prepared me for if there's no sperm there... they just won't go sheer with EC. DH has had bloods and they're confident there will be but you never know...That would just be a nightmare. I don't want to think about that.

If all goes well then it's ET a week tomorrow then OTD 14 days later.

Sounds like a good result from the scan @foodiefil what did they say they will do if there’s no sperm, hopefully that won’t happen, but if it does can they do the EC and freeze the eggs to fertilize at another time? I don’t know much about the PESA, what’s the reason your DH is having it?

@Prinnyshelly yeah that makes sense if you’re testing first thing it should be a good way to compare- the line from today looks darker than yesterday, good luck!

@foodiefil your scan sounds great, really hope your DH’s PESA goes well.

@Gardenlady543 he had a vasectomy. We had it reversed. It didn't work. I saw swimmers when he had his vasectomy reversed in 2019. His bloods were fine. The doc felt his goolies and said he thought he would get some from them. Sorry for saying goolies.

They said if there isn't any sperm they don't go ahead with EC...

@foodiefil the reason we are having IVF also with ICSI is that my DH has had a vasectomy. He is 56 and his vasectomy was years ago so he was worried and his sperm was fine! My clinic wouldn’t let me take the drugs for stims until they had done his SSR first to make sure he had sperm.

@Gensola ahhh great! Is that surgical sperm retrieval? Did they do it and test it? Excuse my ignorance!

@foodiefil yes that’s right, surgical sperm retrieval. They took it and tested it and froze it and then used it to fertilise my fresh eggs a few weeks later. He produced 5 straws of sperm which is enough for several cycles of IVF (hoping this one works tho!)

@Gensola that's amazing!! Is this your first cycle? Really hope it works for you too.
And really hope they get enough from my DH so we get a blast and some for the freezer 🤞🏼

@foodiefil yes it’s my first cycle, I had OHSS so my fresh transfer was cancelled just before Christmas and I had my Frozen transfer on Thursday this week. We had two good quality blasts which were both frozen and three that weren’t good enough so they weren’t but at least that’s two chances - I had one embryo put back in so there’s still one left.
And we paid for a two cycle package upfront as it was much cheaper that way, so if neither of these works I have another cycle prepaid. You don’t get a refund tho so it was a gamble!

If this time worked would you / could you use the second cycle?

@foodiefil no worries at all, I can hardly keep up on here myself no, the package ends when you get a live baby! But we could use the frozen embryo and just pay for the transfer ourselves which isn’t too expensive. We thought it was worth it because this specific package includes free frozen embryo transfers so we reckoned getting both FETs for free plus knowing we have prepaid for a second cycle which takes the pressure off a bit was worth it. Of course it’s a gamble, but tbh if I get a baby from this round I’m happy to have paid what we paid!

@Gensola that sounds great. Really really hope it works this time for you.
I take it your DH has grown up children? Mine does. We haven't told anyone what we're doing. I don't think it will be a huge shock we've been together 7 years and they know I want children but we didn't want to take anyone along with us on this journey. Don't think I could say no it hasn't worked etc. His are v early 20s.

Thank you to everyone who passed on congrats (my memory is shocking). I can't wait for Monday to come to get my beta result as this just feels surreal!

@foodiefil yes he has two boys 24 and 26 but they don’t speak to me at all or want anything to do with me, I don’t think they’d be very happy about a new brother or sister. :/ they feel it’s disloyal to their mum I think, she didn’t react well to DH moving on with someone 20 years younger and tried her best to use the kids as pawns. To some extent it worked and their relationship is strained with DH. Sad really. I hope they realise over time that they don’t need to take sides.

These situations are complicated. Hope it doesn't cause you too much stress.

Oh guys I’ve done something thing really stupid! I know you know 😂 I’m only 4dp5dt and I couldn’t help myself as I have a test from the clinic at home!!!

So yeah, I tested. I don’t know how long the trigger would stay in my system though. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@thirteen92 The trigger was out of my system by 2-3dp5dt I think but it might be quite an individual thing.

Well I feel like theirs the faintest squinter ever! I’m not going to test now until otd. I just needed to get that test out of my house! I won’t buy any tests until day before otd so I’m ready lol.
