Hi all, it seems like there has been a really good proportion of success on this thread, im very much hoping it rubs off on me. I'm a bit behind you guys and just had egg collection on Monday where unfortunately they only got 1 egg. Thankfully my one had fertilised yesterday and im keeping everything crossed it makes it to ET on Saturday. Its such a horrifically emotional process, I was devastated on Monday and I just want yo say how strong everyone is going through this. You are all amazing!

kikisparks · 04/03/2021 15:34

@Motherofkittens28 good luck, it only takes one and it’s quality over quantity. Fingers crossed for you for embryo transfer on Saturday.

Nichola2310 · 04/03/2021 17:28

@Motherofkittens28 I know everyone says numbers don't matter and we all ignore it and worry anyway. I started with 20 and still only ended up with 1.

Good luck!

foodiefil · 04/03/2021 19:21

Hi @Motherofkittens28 good luck to you. This thread might be a bit quiet as people are either at the end of an unsuccessful cycle or are pregnant and have moved onto the pregnancy boards. I've tried to tag you in the board for March/April. It will be useful for you over the coming weeks to have people who are at a similar stage to you to talk to ❤️❤️

IVFat43 · 04/03/2021 22:26

For some reason my email hasn’t pinged any of these messages over the last 3 days, I thought it was quite..I’ve missed so much..

@foodiefil I’m still on this journey and have many hurdles to overcome, could you tag me please as I can’t seem to find it in the search engine? 🤔

foodiefil · 04/03/2021 22:31

I've tagged you @IVFat43 keep us updated too but I know I won't have much to contribute for a while xx

IVFat43 · 04/03/2021 22:48

@foodiefil thank you.. hope you’re ok, so sorry I missed your post and it didn’t work.. it’s so hard isn’t it, hope to hear from you on the other forum, thanks for the tag xx

@hopefully21

The one thing I'd say about the vaccine is if you want to get it soon get it before you are pregnant. That's just my personal view. I've read of a few women miscarrying very shortly after getting the vaccine. Might not be linked..but could be also. Hard to know. There just isn't enough research yet on the impact of this new type of rna vaccine on pregnancy.
It is NOT linked, there is no mechanism for how this vaccination could cause a miscarriage. What we do know is that Covid is very harmful, people may be falsely reassured because they are young and healthy, they may think they won’t face serious consequences. As a doctor I’m currently seeing several young healthy adults every week with long Covid. Having a chronic cough, constant fatigue and shortness of breath so significant you struggle with all your daily activities, will be no fun when pregnant. The people I’m seeing have been suffering for months with these symptoms.

If you are called for a vaccination I would highly advise you to get it. I’ve had mine.

MF1981 · 06/03/2021 18:59

@Gardenlady543 do you know if any of the guidance has changed around getting the vaccine during pregnancy?

hopefully21 · 06/03/2021 19:49

@Gardenlady543, thanks for sharing your experience. There's no denying that covid can have serious side effects. I was sharing what I read about a possible link to miscarriage..I didn't say it was proven. I'd be interested to read the research papers proving that there is definitely no link. I didn't say that anyone shouldn't get the vaccine either. Honestly I think it's really up to the individual to decide on that. My personal opinion is that I wouldn't get this particular vaccine while pregnant before or after pregnancy is a different matter. Again only my opinion based on advice from more than one doctor.

hopefully21 · 06/03/2021 20:01

I forgot to mention i think it was on VAERS that I read about the possible link between vaccine and miscarriage.

OP posts:
Gardenlady543 · 06/03/2021 20:05

@hopefully21 send me the “possible link to miscarriage” information please, there is no biologically plausible mechanism for how this could possible happen, if you’re going to cite this as a reason for others to not get vaccinated then I’d like to see if.

If you weigh up the risk of getting Covid and the consequences to yourself, a pregnancy and others if you act as a human vector spreading it to the vulnerable vs the risk of this vaccination (and we know a lot about vaccinations, they are extremely safe), I have no idea how you would decide the first option is the safest, it isn’t.

hopefully21 · 06/03/2021 20:16

You are welcome to look it up on VAERS. You might have missed my last message. You are entitled to your opinion as am I. Again up to each person to decide for themselves. I have received advice from doc not to get it while pregnant. Doctors have different opinions on this one so other docs like yourself will have a different view which is fine. I think lecturing me about it isn't helpful ...and I'll leave the conversation there.

OP posts:
Gardenlady543 · 06/03/2021 20:29

@hopefully21 VAERS have NOT declared any link between the vaccine and miscarriage, you are misinformed. I haven’t met another doctor who is advising people to not get the vaccination, that is really worrying. If you send me their information I’ll get in touch with them as a fellow medical practitioner and speak with them about it.

And regarding your comment about opinions, if your opinion is that of an antivaxer and you are spreading misinformation and advising others to not get vaccinated, then I will be challenging you. I have dedicated my life to medicine, your opinion is not based on the science, there is no biological plausible mechanism for the vaccination having any impact on miscarriage or fertility.

hopefully21 · 06/03/2021 20:42

I'm not an antivaxxer and take offence to your name calling. This is bullying behaviour. I never said I wouldn't take the vaccine. For your information I have had lots of vaccines in my lifetime. I said I wouldn't take this one while pregnant and have been advised not to. I just shared what I read which was written by mothers who had the vaccine and miscarried soon afterwards. It concerned me. I'm entitled to be concerned. As I said people can take the vaccine if they want...it's not my decision. I'll decide for me. We are all adults on here and it is up to us to do our own research. I'm not engaging with you again on this or any other topic. You have really upset me during a really difficult time.

OP posts:
hopefully21 · 06/03/2021 20:44

To everyone best of luck on your fertility journey. I really hope you all get your BFP. I won't be returning to this group unfortunately. Far too upset after the abuse I've experienced.

OP posts:
Gardenlady543 · 06/03/2021 20:55

I have not abused you @hopefully21 you chose to come on here today and advised others to not have the Covid vaccination during pregnancy. The reason you did that is because you have been misinformed, you have spread that misinformation when advising others not to get vaccinated, that is what antivaxers do.

Your statements are not based on the science, it doesn’t appear that you understand the concept of causality. I’m sorry if you’re having a hard time and that this has upset you, but as a medical professional who has watched their colleagues die because people spread misinformation and make poor decisions, I stand by what I’ve said. Hopefully you will stop spreading misinformation moving forward and you won’t give others any more inaccurate medical advice. As I’ve already mentioned, if you send me the names of the doctors that you say are telling people to not get vaccinated, then I will talk to them.

Hi everyone..... feel
Like I'm in a dilemma....
Me and my husband are currently going through private treatment.... just had my first failed FET and going by waiting list i'm looking another 5 months to try another of my Frosties. I just got a letter from the NHS clinic asking to book an appointment with them.... my GP referred me a year ago to them.... with covid slowing everything up we decided to go private! In Northern Ireland you only get one go on the NHS..... has anyone been in this predicament..... I have booked an appointment with them anyway and I'll have to tell them I'm private also Confused

Gardenlady543 · 11/03/2021 16:40

Hi @chocolate336 I’ve seen a lot of people choosing to go private from the NHS. I personally didn’t even start an NHS referral process because of the waiting lists involved, it sounds like you made the same choice, to seek private rather than face the long waiting lists. Why are you looking at 5 months before the next FET when you’re private though?

Anyway if the decision is between private and NHS my thoughts are, that this process is stressful enough without added stress. In addition I’ve seen comments about people choosing to change from NHS to private during the pandemic so that their treatment isn’t affected by staff being redeployed from the fertility services into other departments. And I’ve also seen people choosing to go private because of various investigations/ treatments which may help their situation but which the NHS weren’t considering.

In your case it sounds like you’re asking should you take up the NHS appointment even though you’re in the private system, I’d say why not! Like you say, you can tell them you’re also under private treatment and you’ll have to see what they advise.

chocolate336 · 11/03/2021 17:42

@Gardenlady543 Yeah that's my thinking exactly.... may as well go to the appointment and see what they say! We had our first fresh cycle that failed in sept and I had to wait until Feb to start FET. They are just back logged due to covid and have a big waiting list unfortunately....it's pretty much the only clinic where I am so it's super super busy and as you said more people are now going private due to the even longer NHS waiting list now

Gardenlady543 · 11/03/2021 17:51

@chocolate336 Oh that’s really annoying to have those kind of waiting lists when you’re paying privately to try and avoid them! I suspect the waiting times are even longer in the NHS though and if you don’t have other private options in the area then there’s not much you can do. You’ll have to keep us updated on what the NHS say.

chocolate336 · 11/03/2021 21:08

Very frustrating waiting and being private! Will see what the NHS have to say and keep you updated @Gardenlady543

chocolate336 · 09/05/2021 11:13

Hi everyone..... I know this thread has been a bit quiet for a while as everyone is at different stages! I had my review following a biochemical pregnancy..... my doctor didn't realise that and had said about putting two embryos in now I've had two negatives. Then when I told him I was actually positive he changed his mind back to one embryo but I could decide if I wanted two! My issue is that I am going private but the waiting list is 6-7 months between each go.....the waiting list in our private clinic is horrendous! And the wait each time is brutal! What are other people's thoughts on two embryos? I know it's a personal decision and a big decision.... can't stop thinking about it
