Trying IVF again for baby #2

FingersXssd83 · 05/01/2021 18:44

Took 4 years to have my first baby, including 4 rounds of IVF. She arrived last summer and hoping to get two rounds in this year. I'm breastfeeding atm so will be stopping that next month, trying naturally for a few months to appease DH (it'll never work), and cracking on with a round in before my birthday as I'll be turning 38 this year.

I found IVF a very tortuous slog the first time around. Kind of feels different now that we are a family and trying for a sibling. Have suffered with a bit of PND over be last few months so hoping IVF doesn't set me back but I feel super excited to get going tbh!

Going to contact Access Fertility soon to find out what packages they can offer us.

Be great to hear from ladies in a similar position! x

@SerendipitySunshine well done holding out! It’s so hard isn’t it! How many dpt are you? How are you feeling? Hope you are ok.

I was a bit naughty and couldn’t resist testing this morn at 9dpt-I’m very grateful to say I got a second line. It’s early days and will test again on OTD -also have a blood test that day-on Tuesday. All feels a bit surreal!

SerendipitySunshine · 27/08/2021 12:57

That's amazing news - congratulations!! How are you feeling? When is your OTD?

8dpt for me today. I had some bleeding yesterday, but not a huge amount, so I can't tell if it was an implantation bleed (like I had last time) or I'm out. It did stop overnight though nd was pink/brown not bright red. This is so tricky isn't it?

SerendipitySunshine · 28/08/2021 11:49

@mouse1234567 - I did a test this morning and I have a second line. Only faint, but I'm hoping that's Ok as I'm not due to test until Monday?

mouse1234567 · 28/08/2021 11:56

Thank you very much. It seems very surreal right now! I hope the bleeding has stopped now? Is it worth speaking to your clinic about it?

That’s great news re a second line -what test did you use? Some are def less sensitive and therefore you will get a more faint line. It is probably a late implanter too-my clinics test day isn’t till 14 dpt which I imagine is to account for late implanters.

SerendipitySunshine · 28/08/2021 12:37

Thanks so much. This was just a cheap strip test from ages ago (still in date though). Hopefully that's it.
Yes, bleeding all stopped now. The clinic has increased my cyclogest in case it was due to low progesterone. I'm scared in case it's a CP, but I'll test again tomorrow and see if there's a stronger line before Monday's proper one. Clinic has recommended clearblue for that one.

mouse1234567 · 28/08/2021 19:22

Oh yes Those strip cheap tests off Internet are not at all sensitive -so I think hopefully there is nothing to worry about with it being faint.

Really hope tomorrow’s is looking stronger for you. Are you tempted to do a clear blue tomo? I have one of those weeks indicator ones for tomorrow morn. My OTD is Tuesday.

SerendipitySunshine · 28/08/2021 19:47

@mouse1234567 I do have two clearblue tests with the weeks. I'll do that tomorrow morning too and see what it says. I'm starting to get a bit excited, which I realise is dangerous territory!

mouse1234567 · 28/08/2021 20:39

@SerendipitySunshine oh yes it’s so hard isn’t it -you want to get excited but also you want to protect yourself in case -so tricky! I have a blood test at my clinic on Tuesday so I guess that will give more of an idea. Really hope the test is good news for you tomorrow morn !

mouse1234567 · 29/08/2021 11:13

@SerendipitySunshine really hope it went ok this morning?

SerendipitySunshine · 29/08/2021 11:23

Thanks so much, @mouse1234567 Yes, it says 2-3 weeks. Will test again tomorrow on the proper day, but finally starting to believe it now. How about you?

mouse1234567 · 29/08/2021 11:38

That’s wonderful news! Mine also said 2-3 weeks this morning and you are a few days behind me I think so I think hopefully things are looking ok so far for us both!

On my chemical pregnancy I never got beyond 1-2 weeks on those and on my successful pregnancy with my son I tested 2-3 weeks at 13dp5dt on clear blue.

Katwb · 29/08/2021 14:40

@mouse1234567 & @SerendipitySunshine congrats to you both - great news!
I’m 6dp5dt, my test date is Saturday so still 6 days to go.

SerendipitySunshine · 29/08/2021 16:50

Thank you - keeping our fingers crossed for you @Katwb

Blueskythinker83 · 30/08/2021 08:59

We started meds last night! I can’t believe we are actually doing it but feel so much better for getting on with it and no longer dithering about it. I’m on a short protocol (mild ivf) so no downregulation as I always over produce (38 eggs first cycle and 28 the second!)

Blueskythinker83 · 30/08/2021 09:05

Congrats @SerendipitySunshine and @mouse1234567 on your positives! Fingers crossed for you @Katwb

SerendipitySunshine · 31/08/2021 14:55

Thanks so much @Blueskythinker83

SerendipitySunshine · 01/09/2021 13:19

How are you feeling on your meds @Blueskythinker83 ?

How did your appointment go @mouse1234567 ?

Blueskythinker83 · 02/09/2021 10:28

I was feeling ok but last night I had a racing heart and felt sick and slept really badly and I don’t know if it was the meds or just general anxiety! Feeling ok again today and second scan due tmw (had 19 follies at the first scan yesterday)

BuffyFanForever · 09/09/2021 06:30

Hey guys so pleased to see there’s been some good news while I’ve been away! Long may it continue!
Well complete shocker my endocrinologist said I’d managed to get my thyroid pretty much back on track so can go ahead with FET next cycle! I’m due period in a few days so cue a rushed call to order all the meds! Still not sure whether to transfer one or two embabies...
