Hi

I’m due to start IVF mid February depending on when my period in January starts.
Had a fresh cycle end of august which sadly ended in a missed miscarriage in October.
I only had that one embryo so will be starting a new fresh cycle.

Would love to chat to any ladies starting then as I found the chats really helpful during my first round.

Hi all can I join please? I started downregulating on my long protocol on the 31st, looking at egg collection around the 26th. This is my first round and would be first child for DP and I, we are on the older end of the scale at 39 (me) and 41. Wishing everyone the best of luck!

GingerBrummie · 04/02/2021 09:56

Morning all,
@39andabit I hope your first injection goes well today. I used to have to follow the instruction leaflet with buserelin but now can do it with my eyes shut!
@lavenderlove I tried Clomid before IVF even though I ovulate regularly sadly didnt work but I know many people it did work for so might be worth pushing before IVF. I did 3 rounds.
Finally properly came on AF today, quite painful & heavy so Im taking that as a good sign. Roll on next Tues for the first scan!

Blessing12 · 04/02/2021 11:55

@Motherofkittens28 welcome to the group, how are you getting on with your down regs? Have they told you whats meds you are on for stims?

@GingerBrummie thats a good sign, thats how i was, I had my painkillers and hot water bottle there constantly.
But after a few days I was back to normal, but really good sign your body is going quiet.
I'm excited for us for Tuesday

Motherofkittens28 · 04/02/2021 12:06

Thanks @Blessing12, they started out ok but now seem to be a bit more painful and yesterday I ended up with a lump on my leg for a few hours, I guess where the fluid collected. I'm on ovaleap for my stims, 350ml which I think is the highest dose because they are expecting a poor response. My AMH is 5.2 so I don't expect many eggs, I had my eggs frozen 4 years ago and got 6 mature then when my AMH was 7.9 so if I get 5 this time I'd be pretty happy.

Motherofkittens28 · 04/02/2021 12:07

@Blessing12 where are you in your cycle and what meds are you on? I havent caught up with the whole thread yet!

Blessing12 · 04/02/2021 13:00

@Motherofkittens28 Iv been doing mine in the lower stomach area, maybe try in that area as iv been told in the tight it does sting. I'm on day 31 of my long protocol, iv been on buserelin for 12 days.
I'm starting with Ovaleap but im on 375 dosage and 75 Menopur so 450 in total, my AMH is 4.5 and in the same boat really as I dont expect to produce many follicles, but when I had a cycle 4 yrs ago I had 6 follicles, by TD I only had 1 embryo good enough to transfer, which was successful, so as long as there is a healthy embie thats all we need.

elsiegoggings · 04/02/2021 13:12

Hi All! I had my scratch yesterday 😬 didn't hurt at all but afterwards I was crampy and felt a bit sick and weird.
I start my buserelin injections tomorrow!! Then scan on 22nd and Estradiol after that. Feeling a bit weird. We will be doing a FET after a successful first round in 2016 which resulted in our little boy.
Any thoughts on transferring one or two embryos? We have one frozen on its own and two together. If the one doesn't thaw we'd have to decide wether to put just one or two in, but they'd have to thaw both. If we chose just one they hmmm have to throw one away ☹️ but hubby strongly against idea of twins.

Blessing12 · 04/02/2021 13:23

Hi @elsiegoggings oh the scratch isn't nice, I thought it was so uncomfortable during having done and cramping after for a day or 2.
Good luch with starting your buserelin tomorrow, it feels good when the ball starts rolling, i have my EC on 22nd fingers crossed all goes well, if I had the option I would love to have 2 put back, for that extra chance of one taking. Having 2 out back really doesn't mean you will have twins but obviously the chances are higher.
If you have to thaw the 2 then I say put both back, because what if you put once and god for bid doesn't take you will for ever wonder what if the other one would have taken.
If thats all makes sense, but you have to do whats best for you and your partner, good luck keep us posted.

Motherofkittens28 · 04/02/2021 13:25

@Blessing12 ah sorry, I meant 375ml for the ovaleap, you having an extra 75 is a lot of stims, fingers crossed it is successful! I was told I shouldn't do it in my stomach if I could pinch more than an inch of fat (sadly lockdown and Christmas means I can!)

Blessing12 · 04/02/2021 13:39

@Motherofkittens28 oh so 375 of Ovaleap is the max I didnt know that, they have given me 5 boxes of 900ui, yes with an extra 75 Menopur, I hope I have more than last time so I can freeze some. I was on 350 gonal-f last time.
Oh okay, lol tell me about it I cant stop eating these days myself, being in lockdown definitely makes the eating worse.

GingerBrummie · 04/02/2021 15:14

Welcome @Motherofkittens28 we are similar ages & its also my first, very excited.

Ive been googling (& yes I know I shouldn't) but read that its more common in IVF pregnancies to have premature birth, to not last the full term. Was that true for any ladies on here that had children by IVF? Not sure why Im already thinking about labour when Im not even pregnant! But there is so much stuff on the web..

elsiegoggings · 04/02/2021 16:05

@GingerBrummie haha no the total opposite for me! My little boy was two weeks late, did not want to come out and by the time he was out he was 11lb 1oz! 😂😂

elsiegoggings · 04/02/2021 16:09

@Blessing12 thanks. My birth was very risky and I had a traumatic time so it'd have to be super safe the second time. Twins would complicate things. We already have my son so my priority is still being around for him afterwards and actually being able to cope.
That being said, if it was a choice between two or none, we might go for two. Will have to see how risky they think it'd be. 😬 crazy decisions that we ivf-ers have to make!

GingerBrummie · 04/02/2021 16:29

Thanks @elsiegoggings that puts my mind at ease Smile

Mancbear88 · 04/02/2021 17:52

Hi everyone, I was on the January, February thread but I think I’m a bit behind a lot of them.

I’m doing a FET, starting today, hopefully looking to transfer 22nd February!

My story so far is:
Fresh IVF 2019 - resulted in a positive test and 3 frozen embryos. Sadly ended in a miscarriage at 13 weeks.
FET 1 - this was just before lockdown 1 and was cancelled one week before transfer.
My lining was slow to react so I then had to wait for a hysteroscopy which was fine.
FET 2 - this was the end of last year and was a negative. As a positive though I was very worried about my lining reacting as I have a very thin lining and it got to 7.5mm. I was and am on a lot of oestrogen.

Fingers crossed this is the one, I’ve calculated that I would be due around our 10 year anniversary so that’s got to be a sign hasn’t it!?! I’m taking it as a sign anyway 😂

Good luck to everyone

RichmondLady1981 · 04/02/2021 18:46

Hi all! First ever cycle short protocol. I’m currently finishing my last few days of Norethisterone. Hate the stuff. Baseline scan next week Thursday 11th and then start stims Friday 12th. Egg collection date is approx 24th Feb. Excited and nervous. Start with Ovaleap and Menopur. then later adding in fyrenadel. No idea what any of this means! I think Ovaleap is quite a new one.

I have one son who is 20 months but struggling to conceive 2nd. 39 so need to get a move on. Low AMH and low follicle count are my issues. Fell pregnant in March last year and carried to 11 weeks and then had mmc so had a surgery. No luck since then conceiving naturally.

The irony here is, we conceived our son on honeymoon, first month of trying. Drinking coffee and alcohol every day! Crazy hey?

RichmondLady1981 · 04/02/2021 18:47

@Mancbear88 me too. Everyone seemed way ahead so here I am! 😂.

RichmondLady1981 · 04/02/2021 18:47

Ps my mmc was due to chromosome issue so we are doing FET and genetic testing.

RichmondLady1981 · 04/02/2021 18:49

Does the F in FET stand for fresh or frozen??? Confusing???

(Can you tell I’m new to this?)

Hopeforsuccess · 04/02/2021 19:08

Hello! I think i am
Also at the same boat as you ladies@RichmondLady1981 and @Mancbear88. Stopped noretheristone on sunday, first day bleed today and first scan tmr and starting eostrogen. I am
Doing Fet ( that goes for frozen embryo transfer) hopefully around 20th February

Motherofkittens28 · 04/02/2021 19:10

@GingerBrummie nice to have someone of a similar age to do this journey with, best of luck!

Blessing12 · 04/02/2021 19:41

Welcome ladies @RichmondLady1981 im also on the same meds as yourself Ovaleap and Menopur do you know the dosage you'll be taking?
@Mancbear88 @Hopeforsuccess think we are all around the same time 22nd seems like a big day for many on this group, its either EC or FET so its very exciting for so many at the moment.

RichmondLady1981 · 04/02/2021 20:52

I’m just pleased so see I’m not the only 39 year old lady here ! Phew!!!

@Blessing12 I will be taking Ovaleap 300 and menopur 75. Then Fyremadel 0.25

@Hopeforsuccess how did you find the norethisterone? I want to eat everything in sight. Everything sugary or fatty. I also want to kill my husband! 😆. But seriously my moods are awful and I’m not usually like that. How long did it take for the bleed to happen after your last pill?

39andabit · 04/02/2021 20:57

Lots to catch up on. Nice to see quite a few of us are late 30s. @GingerBrummie @Motherofkittens28 sounds like we’re in a similar situation. First time, no children, 39.
@GingerBrummie yes thank you the buserelein injection was fine actually. Went for the thigh as that’s where I carry fat. Glad to get the first one done.
My base line scan is booked for the 18th hoping for egg collection beginning of March.

@elsiegoggings that’s a dilemma... I think I’d have to say two as well but it’s hard.

Glad to hear people have had successful previous pregnancies too. It must be hard doing all the appointments etc with a small person to care for and lockdown rules! @Blessing12 that’s given me hope if you only had one embryo and it was a success. I have no idea what to expect as I have ok (for my age) AMH but seem to have a very low follicle count. I’m trying not to over think... but failing!

Hopeforsuccess · 04/02/2021 21:22

@RichmondLady1981 i am not doing very well on noretheristone either. I am very bloated and sorry for tmi constipated and extremely moody. And i had exactly the same effects as you! Period usually arrives 3-4 days after you stop it. I was taking 2 x 5 mg. So quite a high dose. I was taking it from day 14 to day 25th of cycle.
