IVF February/March 2021

Hi

I’m due to start IVF mid February depending on when my period in January starts.
Had a fresh cycle end of august which sadly ended in a missed miscarriage in October.
I only had that one embryo so will be starting a new fresh cycle.

Would love to chat to any ladies starting then as I found the chats really helpful during my first round.

Just had my day 3 update and have 5 still going. So went from 17 eggs to 11 mature > 8 fertilising > 5 at day 3

Now the wait for Monday to see if we can freeze any. I'll be happy if we can get 2 good ones to freeze.
I also know I have good numbers right now but I'm the same in that we are unexplained also so I'm waiting for something to go wrong at every hurdle! Monday will be the important update and fingers crossed for something good there and then I can relax until it's time to prep for FET 😅

@2mumlife no I’ve not heard anything. Sitting by the phone! Makes me think bad news .... probably saving all the difficult conversations for last!

Very anxious. I’m already thinking of my next round and also wondering if the next dose should be lower for better success. I remember a few ladies saying that was their experience.

@RichmondLady1981 im also waiting but I do know they have a lot of ET today as I heard them talking on Wed at my EC, so I'm going to assume they are doing those and will contact regarding update once those are all done. So stay positive as could be the same for your clinic.

@2mumlife im so sorry to hear your update, its so hard to stay positive but untill you know more, keep positive, you will get good news and it will all work out, sending love and will say a pray for you tonight x

@RichmondLady1981 I'm exactly the same, already thinking about next round and I haven't even had egg collection yet! Im not convinced that a long protocol is the best option given I'm quite a poor responder. Its hard to just let the clinic get on with it!

Thank you @Blessing12. I seem to vaguely remember the embryologist saying that it would be afternoon (today) after she called about fertilisation rate. I was just so all over the place that I clearly forgot. 😬

@Motherofkittens28 I know it’s hard isn’t it. I think we have to keep telling ourselves that they are the EGGsperts (sorry- got to try and raise spirits) and let them do what they think is best in their professional experience.

@RichmondLady1981 I feel you. I was also told afternoon as I believe they are on a reduced staff level on a Saturday. I was awake from about 6am, forced myself to try sleep more and then clock watched until then.
Wasn't until I started to just get on with some housework that the phone rang

I’ve just had a call from the embryologist. I can’t believe this but all three of the embryos are doing well. They are all at 7 cells and are ‘very good quality’. I nearly burst into tears. She told me that I must manage expectations from this point as it’s usually a 50% drop off rate.

They will call Monday to let me know whether there are any that have made it to day 5 that are good enough for genetic testing.

Hope you are all doing okay today.
I had ET this morning, it’s the first time we’d heard what was available for us to use (if any)
Eggs collected 17
Fertilised 11
Day5 - ONE perfect 4AA blastocyst Transfered!
The others are not looking as developed So the embryologist will have another look In 24hrs to see if we have anything to freeze.

So happy for this blastocyst but also now feel theres not a lot of hope if this doesn’t survive.

Hi everyone!

I posted on here 4 weeks ago when I was a few days away from starting a natural modified cycle... then my period never turned up. Had a tumultuous few weeks of negative pregnancy tests, but today, 3.2 weeks late and on CD51 it FINALLY came! So we can finally start our first cycle! Woo hoo!

Side note I don't have PCOS, I fact I have a low egg count, I'm usually regular as clockwork 27day cycle this has never happened before in my life - I was loosing my MIND. This is just so typical that the one time I want my period to come it doesn't.

Anyway no one else will understand how overjoyed I am to have my period so just had to put it out there. Roll on stims this week! Starting Clomid tomorrow and Gonal F on Wednesday.

@GingerBrummie - I am hoping that you have gotten a positive update today but you are still PUPO - please enjoy this. Be kind on yourself as there is nothing more you can do.

@Seaswimmingdeservesasunnyday - I'm low AMH, 2 cycle of high stims long protocol, I got 3 eggs/3blasto and 2 eggs/1 blasto. This cycle I have done short protocol with low dose of stims, gotten 8 eggs, 6 fertilised but I won't have an update until tomorrow on day 5.
But you have one that is doing it's thing and that's what would happen naturally so please don't lose hope.

@RichmondLady1981 - yes I managed to make it home, just!! Hope you get some relief soon! Excellent news regarding your day 3 update!!

@2mumlife - is this your first cycle? Just seen you had 6-days of stims, is this correct?

@MrTumbleTumble - I'm in the same boat, I only go a day 1 update and I'll find out tomorrow. However, I am pretty excited to see what has happened over the last few days.

@willithappen - I have hope that you get more than 2 good ones. I think day 1 - 3 is sperm quality and day 4 onwards is egg quality but I could be wrong.

No updates from me, I'm in tomorrow AM for ET and I'll find out what has happened over the past few days - I just want a good one to transfer

@Pansy222 I was in the same position as you last week, one blastocyst onboard and 4 potential early blasts but they couldn't guarantee Anything, but we got the call on Sunday to say they were freezing 3 so try not to worry!

Hey Ladies

Just had the call, iv been a nervous wreck all day waiting.
All 4 embryos out of 5 that fertilised on day 1 are all looking great, she said one of them is looking fantastic quality and the other 3 are good quality.

I'm booked in for ET @1pm on Monday.

So I'm really over the moon atm with the outcome, I have acupuncture booked for tomorrow and iv been eating Brazil nuts and pineapple that ill continue to do until I head over to the clinic on Monday.

@Mrbay thank you, I will try to be more positive. I think I just thought that the December AFC meant I'd probably have 11 follicles ready to give up an egg after all the drugs. I thought one translated to the other. I know it only takes one, it just feels like the odds are against me now. Then again, I have been pregnant naturally 3 times when younger (one child, two mc) and I suppose that was only with one egg each time.

@RichmondLady1981 that's great they are all still going! Team of troopers you have there :) I'll join you on the anxious wait on Monday for updates, I know my call isn't coming until the afternoon. My partner needs to go to work Monday so will be by myself when call comes

@Mrbay yeah first IVF cycle (tried 4 medicated IUIs last year). We had 2 days of morning + evening Menopur injections (Wednesday Thursday), then 5 days of evening Menopur only (up until Tuesday evening). Scan and bloods Wednesday morning, Ovitrelle on Wednesday evening then EC Friday morning. I had Prostap as a downregulation beforehand.

@Dbop100 when I was waiting after my Prostap injection to bleed it was a nightmare and I kept thinking as well what a joke that the one time you want to bleed you don't!

I’ve been really quiet on here and it seems I’ve missed lots of news both good and bad. I remember the stress waiting for the day 5 call very well!

I started my medication for transfer last Sunday and not much has happened since. I’ve been taking estradiol and Fyremadel and the only side effects I’ve had have been extreme tiredness. Tonight I do the last injection and tomorrow my estradiol dose increases. I won’t have much happening for a while still, got a scan booked 4 March and transfer expected w/c 15 March, so just thumb twiddling over here for now! I’m finding that the time is going very slowly!

Does anyone know how to make a new thread?? Pls tag me!! 🙏🏼.

Hi all, so much activity!! Really sorry to those that haven't had the news they wanted, just try to stay positive and hope those embryos do their thing.

Had my ET this morning, was less pleasant than I anticipated coz apparently my bladder wasn't full enough despite not going to the toilet for over 4 hours and drinking loads of water. They ended up catheterising me and filling me up with a syringe... I literally thought I might squirt out all over them then the shoved the speculum up there too 😂 God it's was uncomfortable!!

They transferred a 4AB so they seemed happy with that. Really pleased coz we had 4 left to freeze, though less good quality, 2 are 5CC I think and the others 3 something I think. Just starting the wait now and scared to move in case I stop it implanting!!
