Hi

I’m due to start IVF mid February depending on when my period in January starts.
Had a fresh cycle end of august which sadly ended in a missed miscarriage in October.
I only had that one embryo so will be starting a new fresh cycle.

Would love to chat to any ladies starting then as I found the chats really helpful during my first round.

@Kitttycatt the injections havnt been bad for me either but omg when my AF arrived the stomach pain was unbearable and no paracetamol was touching the sides it was awful i was in tears and thats unlike me I good with pain, im so glad you aint getting that problem.

GingerBrummie · 02/02/2021 19:15

Hi again ladies, Ive just had a peak at my Gonal F injections in preparation for next week & Ive been prescribed Gonal F 900 IU. The dosage seems high but as Im a newbie maybe this is actually normal, I will check with clinic next week. Its a prefilled pen so looks super easy at least although I have been supplied with 3 boxes so 60 doses in total, I thought I would only inject once per day so would only need 10 or so! Lots of questions for my nurse :)

Blessing12 · 02/02/2021 19:32

Hey @GingerBrummie so iv got 4 boxes of 900ui, 900 is a high dosage but im doing 375 per day, i had my nurse planning right at the beginning and they explained it all to me, so I'd definitely ask the nurse at your clinic so you know everything, maybe write the questions down that you have so you don't forget, that works better for me because sometimes I forget by the next day what I was thinking the day before.

GingerBrummie · 02/02/2021 19:42

Thanks @Blessing12, I have a nice long list :) When I had my video consultation, I was only shown buserelin & she said she would show me the rest at my first scan.
Good news is that I think my AF is arriving at last.... never thought I would be happy for that!

Blessing12 · 02/02/2021 19:46

@GingerBrummie aw Fantastic, thats great news its crazy how you never would ever wish for it to arrive but when you really need it to arrive it plays up and your hoping and praying it will just arrive lol, crazy.
Yea maybe it's better nearer the time so its all fresh in the mind.
A week to go and we will be at our next stage 🤞

ThePurpleFairy · 02/02/2021 20:01

@GingerBrummie are you sure you’re supposed to take the full 900iu? I wasn’t on Gonal F but I am certain I have seen others talk about it, the pens are all 900iu and you can click the top to select your dose, so say your dose was 300iu per day, you would use the same pen 3 different days (and I believe you can swap the needle in the top over)

GingerBrummie · 02/02/2021 20:24

Hi @ThePurpleFairy thanks for the info, I hadnt realised they all come as 900! I think Im only on 300 but will check next Tues at my first baseline scan :)

ThePurpleFairy · 02/02/2021 20:30

@GingerBrummie I think they can come in 300 as well possibly, but I know for sure that it’s normal to use the same pen for a few doses. A lady in another group I’m in didn’t realise this and threw a pen away after one dose, not realising she needed the rest of it plus some out of a new pen for one of her doses 😩 so you might find some nights that you need to do 2 needles if your doses go across 2 pens, but if you’re just on 300 then you should be fine just using 1 pen 3 times exactly then move on. I wish I had been given the pens, we had to mix ours up (Meriofert) every night was like a chemistry lesson in my living room!

hop27 · 02/02/2021 21:02

Hi @thetallgirl @Blessing12 @Kitttycatt - thanks for the welcome. I've just been in menopause for 6 months and very relieved that stage is over. Some blood tests today and collect some drugs. Feels one small step closer, but scared for round 4.

Blessing12 · 02/02/2021 21:48

@ThePurpleFairy that's how it works yes, your right but some people can actually have a very high dosage i was on 300ui when I was on gonal-f on my first cycle and your right thats exactly what i did now i think back on it. @hop27 it feels good tho when your that 1 step closer tho, tuesday can't come quick enough for me.
I just had a clairvoyant reading and she said I can see a baby girl on the way.... well hun ill let you know soon and if your wrong I want my money back hahaha 🤣.

hop27 · 03/02/2021 08:02

@Blessing12 ! Lol demand a refund if you are blessed with a boy 💕
Picked up my drugs tonight, in the same pharmacy that I've picked up IVF drugs from previously (the woman in from of me was doing the same)
I promptly bust into tears ..... oh joy.

Blessing12 · 03/02/2021 12:50

🤣😂 @hop27 that made me laugh ill be grateful either way.

I'm feeling like the week is taking so slow, just want Tuesday here now for my scan and the go ahead to get stims going.

CLP20 · 03/02/2021 13:16

@Kitttycatt great news about your scan!

My period was late by a day and only came last night so my Menopur and Gonal F injections will now start tomorrow instead but luckily no change to scan dates. Just want to get started now!

Kitttycatt · 03/02/2021 17:22

@CLP20 let me know how you get on with the injections. I found the menopur one quite fiddly as I've got 3 ampules of powder to mix with the solution so I delegated that to DH! I'm sure practice will make perfect.

EasterBunny7 · 03/02/2021 17:50

Hello all. I'm due to start my second cycle this month/ March. They've put me on norethisterone for 15 days and then I go in for a scan. I'm just wondering if anyone else is doing it like this and whether you were asked to continue taking progesterone even after the scan?

CLP20 · 03/02/2021 18:28

@Kitttycatt yes, also going to delegate to DH! Along with the actual injecting as I don’t think I’ll be able to do that to myself! 😬

@EasterBunny7 I took Norethisterone for 12 days (last day was Friday) had a scan on Thursday just to check no cysts on the ovaries, period came last night so I start injections tomorrow. I’m not sure what would have happened if they had found anything though.

lavenderlove · 03/02/2021 20:50

Hi I've just found out today that I am going to be put forward for IVF (privately so hoping March/April) and I feel really scared about it. I'm worried about if it will make me feel ill, whether I will need to tell work and also just because of the really high cost and quite depressing success rates. I will still be ploughing ahead but just wondered how your experiences have been? Good luck to you all 💫

39andabit · 03/02/2021 21:22

@lavenderlove lots of luck. It’s all a bit overwhelming isn’t it? It’s my first round too. Starting down regulation injections tomorrow. I found once I had the treatment plan it was almost better as you can plan and focus on something instead of doom scrolling the depressing stats!! The money is painful though but if it works I’m sure we won’t care.
People seem to be doing ok with the meds on here so fingers crossed 🤞

Blessing12 · 03/02/2021 21:46

@lavenderlove sending you loads of luck and hugs, its amazing the whole process, id say stay positive through out as much as possible.
I agree with @39andabit once you have seen the nurse and you know what protocol your on long or short, you can sit with your diary as i did and worked everything out, not that i had much as we are in lock down, but you will know the dates you will be starting meds etc and scan appointments.

I'm on a long protocol and iv had to take buserelin for 2 weeks the injections are not painful and you become use to it, im due my scan Tuesday hopefully im all down regulated and can start stims, then it will really feel like the ball is rolling.

Good luck @39andabit tomorrow starting your down regulation are you on buserelin also?
My AF started 2 days in when I started down reg.

39andabit · 03/02/2021 21:54

Thanks @Blessing12 yes I’m on buserelin too. Slightly nervous but looks easier than the menopur. I bet you’ll be glad to get going with the next stage now? Are they looking for anything on the scan or just that everything is ‘quiet’?
Is anyone else taking ever supplement under the sun too?!

Blessing12 · 03/02/2021 22:07

@39andabit its really easy the buserelin, it feels like the longest 2 weeks wait and thats just to start stims then another 2 weeks of meds. Im such an inpatient person I want everything yesterday, but this is so different, I have to be patient.
Yes the scan is to make sure everything is quiet and get the go ahead to start meds, im on Ovaleap 375ui and Menopur 75ui.
Im just taking folic acid and vitamin D as I read its ment to be good to take vitamin D.
What are you taking?

I did read on the day of the ET to eat pineapple core and Brazil nuts, also there's alot if talk about Mc donalds fries after the transfer.
Bit premature chat there but thought I'd mention that haha.

lavenderlove · 03/02/2021 22:19

@39andabit it is really overwhelming! I was hoping to try clomid first but my consultant said as I have regular periods it wasn't recommended. I think I will feel more positive once I've got started, I think I'm still in the "it's so unfair I have to do it this way" phase. Hope your injections all go well I'm looking forward to following your journey!

lavenderlove · 03/02/2021 22:21

@Blessing12 thank you! I'm so glad the injections haven't been bad for you. I am looking forward to getting all my dates sorted, they seem to be moving me along quickly which is good. I hadn't heard about long/short protocol but just had a look so thanks, it's making me feel better getting more info! Hope everything keeps going well for you!

39andabit · 03/02/2021 22:25

@Blessing12 thanks that’s good to hear! Hope the next few days fly by and the scan goes well.

I’ve heard the McDonald’s thing ... think it’s the salt?
I’m taking a conception multivitamin, vit D, E, Q10 ubiquinol omega 3 and inositol! I got a bit obsessed with research. Probably doesn’t make a difference but worth a try I guess! I’ve also cut out most caffeine and sugar and stopped drinking any alcohol since last week which is the hardest I don’t drink a lot but love a a Friday wine!

I think it’s good to remain positive, if it doesn’t work we will be absolutely gutted either way but at least staying hopeful makes this bit easier although easy for me to say as ai haven’t done 3 or 4 rounds like a lot of people.

EasterBunny7 · 04/02/2021 07:10

@CLP20

So, it was as I suspected. You can be on different number of days with norethisterone and the scan isn't necessarily on the first day of your period. This is very different to my first cycle. I'm getting impatient already. Good luck with your cycle!!
